Yes, I shouted - a lot - but they didn't understand... they are just sitting on their beds facing the wall and sulking.
Surely they can't expect your to commit to re-new if you don't know what the proposed rent is??? Doesn't your lease / contract say what happens at the end. Def get in touch with the CAB - it sounds a bit like you've been given notice. Its been a lot of years since I did Tenancy Agreements, etc, but don't rely on her to make all the moves, if she seems to be slow in responding try contacting your Landlord direct. |
Poor doggies! ;)
I got it all sorted! I rang another branch of Martyn Gerrards (yes you have been named and shamed!) and asked them what their general procedure is and how much notice we have to give (if any) and when do we have to move out if we don't agree to the new terms. The guy who was speaking to me was an outrageous flirt and I got quite a bit of info out of him :D but he still had to put me on to another head Manager dude who actually explained to me that that letter we got was a prompt for us to give them notice if we were moving out so that they can start showing people round. Then now they are negotiating with our landlord over the new contract. However, if we do not agree to the new contract, we can stay till the end of our tenancy under the current agreement. Then at the end of our agreement the landlord can give us 2 months notice to leave because we have not agreed to their new contract. If all this was just explained to us by B*tchface in the first place, we would've slept easier this past couple of nights! I told both the people that I spoke to how dissapointed I was with B*tchface's comments that we should start looking for somewhere to live, and the fact that she was mightily unhelpful both now and when we moved in. The top manager dude said she'd "speak to her" HA HA! I feel SOOOOO much better now! Roll on 5pm, time to get Mummeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eee soon! :hyper: |
There is no formal protection for letters under current British law. Rather than the CAB ring Shelter http://england.shelter.org.uk/home/index.cfm They are a lot more helpful, and easier to get hold of than the CAB, and give great advice.
This is from the website "What happens when an agreement runs out? Some tenancy agreements are granted for a fixed term, such as six months or one year. When the fixed term ends one of two things will happen: your landlord might give you a new agreement for a further fixed term, or your tenancy will automatically continue on the same basis as before but will roll from month to month or week to week rather than being for a set period. In most cases, your landlord has to give you notice and can't just ask you to move out on the last day. If you know you want to leave at the end of the fixed term it is best to give the landlord notice. There are special procedures the landlord has to follow if s/he wants you to leave. These depend on the type of tenancy you have." So in theory you don't have to give notice, but you may struggle getting your bond back if you just up and leave. But to my mind (and I think the courts would agree) you have already told them that your ongoing tenancy is conditional on rent remaining the same. |
Oh well done, I posted above before you had responded!
You should go and work for Shelter! |
Thanks, that's what the lovely lady at the letting office helped me with. If we'd've had that made clear when B*tchface started mouthing off we would've been fine, instead she made herself feel all high and mighty and worried us sick that we'd have to move out at the end. I think we'll be ok and I hope Martyn Gerrards are professional about it, it's just this one lady we're having trouble with! :kickbutt:

Shelter are really good my uncle had big problems when his landlord went AWOL and then the house got repossessed and shelter gave him really good legal advice.

Snap!

I am one of their donators, but they helped us too when we ran into hassles with our landlord. I think we have landlord problems again though :( Hopefully it will all sort out tonight and tomorrow.

Hope everyone's landlord problems sort themselves out, and Frus - good luck in Race for Life tomorrow - I'm sure you'll love it! I've got mine in two weeks, and I've just found out that one of my trainees is doing it. I've now scared her with my speed though, mwah ha ha...
I did 30 minutes on the treadmill this morning, nothing too exciting but good to get back into it after a pretty lazy weekend. Hopefully I'll manage 5 miles tomorrow, 3 miles on Thursday and then on Saturday I'm going to attempt to go for a run from my hotel before I check in for my flight - it's quite worrying that I'm taking my running stuff on holiday with me! I'm getting worried about my half marathon entry at the moment, they haven't cashed the cheque and it says the race is full. I wish I knew whether I had a place because if I haven't I need to get my entry in to my second choice race before I go on holiday. Or I could just enter and run them both... |
Urgh. I never thought this moment would arrive.
I've eaten chocolate and I feel sick. I didn't eat that much, honest, but it really does feel yuk. With any luck it will put me off the brown stuff for a while... |
I've been to Nike Rockstar, the routine is starting to come together!!! It gets easier every time I do it!!!
I'm tired, I've just had a salad, and now I'm ready for bed. So night night all! |
I'm going to this gym induction this evening (with DH) - what should I wear?? From what I've been told its a very small blokey-clique type gym with no free weights but one of each piece of equipment. I'm beginning to regret this already.
AND - DH is having a moody about it because the induction is at 6 which is only an hour after he gets home :( He's whinging already because I told him it wouldn't be a great idea to have his dinner before the induction - so it looks like we won't get dinner until at least 8 and he will have had his 'lunch' at work at 10am so he'll be starving! (He doesn't get a choice as to when he takes his lunch break.) I suggested a very light snack but he said that would ruin his dinner - and, knowing his appetite, it probably would ruin it. Men! Lovely walk this morning but I've sunburned my arms a little. Time to get some sun-block! George picked a fight with a Staffie! Fred trotted up to the Staffie to say hello and the Staffie snapped at him - and George decided that the only person who can terrorise Fred is him so he squarred up to the Staffie! Both me and the Staffie's owner were very surprised at both dogs because they were already on bottom-sniffing terms. We've been asked if we want to offer a good home to a treadmill for free (a very basic one) - are they any good? :) :) This might be the push DH needs to get the garage morphed in to a gym! :) |
Helen - I have always felt like that after chocolate. Its okay while I'm eating it but about 10 minutes after I feel like it isn't sitting properly in my stomach and that feeling lasts for hours. Theres also a better than 50% chance that I'll get a headache after eating it as well.
Kyk - The Nike Rockstar sounds fun - I couldn't do anything like that, I've got two left feet. A friend of mine REALLY wanted to go line dancing once and begged me to go with her just for the first time so she wouldn't feel silly walking in on her own. I can honestly say that I embarrassed her more by going than she would have felt had she gone alone - I can't hold a tune, couldn't remember the moves and I don't know my left from my right. |
