Yum - Sainsbury's have got Brunchetta on special offer @ 99p each - have you tried it yet, its only 200 cals for the cranberry one. I had it the other day for the first time and was quite surprised how satisfying it was, so I've ordered.... 7! :ink: :ink: :ink: :ink: :ink:
If you haven't tried it, its in the chiller cabinet near the cheese strings. Its small slices of crispy multigrain toast thingies which you dip in to a Philadelphia like cream cheese and top with cranberry sauce. Totally delish! |
I've seen the Brunchetta thingies in Tesco but I try to stay away from pre-packaged stuff like that! I might try it. I didn't see the cranberry one otherwise I probably would've had it.... I sometimes have philladelphia splendips  Now they really are junk!
Ooooh! I'm a red belt! :D :D :D I got a grade 2 pass; 1 means you skip the next belt and you're "perfect" 2 is good and 3 is ok. Oh and I rang my little bridesmaid when I got in, she sounded really astounded and pleased! Yay! Right I'm off to shop for card for the wedding "save the date" cards. Laters peeps :goodvibes |
Well done on passing!! Congrats!
|
Well done on your red belt! :carrot: Party time tonight at your house. then?
How old is your bridesmaid? The last wedding I went to the bride chose to have all under 5s - there were 3 bridesmaids and one little page boy. The highlight of the day was watching the littlest one (age about 2) pulling up her big flouncy frock and pulling down her little matching lacey knickerbockers in order to have an outdoor wee during the photo session outside the church.  You could tell which one her Mum was - she was the one with the red face having a hissy fit in the corner. :dizzy: I don't think the Brunchetta are too, too bad. It was just nice to eat something quick for a change. Brekkie, dinner and supper are okay - no problem with those at all - its the 10.00am, 1pm and 3.30pm snacks/meals which are causing me problems. I've never eaten lunch in my life and I seem to be spending a lot of time in the kitchen preparing little meals, most of which seem to involve cottage cheese (which I've never been keen on). My regulars have been a mix of cottage cheese/mixed frozen berries/nuts/seeds + toasted oats OR avocado pear/cottage cheese/walnut and spinach salad OR Nigella's Hot & Sour soup - they are still okay but I'm BORED :tantrum: (I sound like a teenager!) About the water problem, you can get in a plumber to change the priorities on your boiler so that heating the water takes priority over the CH. I don't know if its the same on all boilers but our plumber told me how to do it (its a little brass coloured screw at a junction where one pipe Vs off in to two pipes) so if I've just had a long shower and used most of the hot water, I can turn the screw to set the priority to the water and then turn it back again when the waters hot enough. The CH still warms the house but the priorty is given to the hot water. Ky, sorry - I missed your earlier post! Well done on jogging outdoors!!! I hope you enjoyed your shopping trip. |
I was a good girl shopping, as planned I just shopped at Boots, and got some nice smellies. Boots had either 1/3 off or buy one get one free on all my favourite scrubs and moisturisers. Now I have nice muscles, I want to have nice skin on top of them!!!
I went and tried shoes on in Clarks, I need some sensible ones for work, and found a cute pair, but they felt all wrong, they had weird insides with a scalloped edge sewn into them, and it felt uncomfortable. The guy said he could sell me insoles for me. I glared and said if I was paying £30 for a pair of shoes, they had to be perfect! He agreed and wandered off to the next customer :D:D:D:D We got nice t-shirts for the hubby, one says "my other body is a temple" hehehehe I really want that t-shirt!!! Well done on the red belt Ms Frus, woo hoo!!!! I didn't have any brats at my wedding. My sister was my bridesmaid she wore black  |
 Nowt wrong with black! I was the bride and I wore black!!!
I'm not very good with controlling myself when I go shopping - which is why I almost never go shopping. I couldn't have done what you did, those shoes would have come home with me. |

But remind me never to pee you off! ;) :D |
Well done frus :D
|
well done.
I'm in such a bad mood I've been at work all day then I get in and my dad emailed me this thing hes doing for work with his charges for IT services, and he expects me to redraft it. I don;t mind doing that but I didn't understand what half of it meant and then he got really narky with me about it. Last time I try to help him but if I don't understand it and I'm not bad on computers then clients won't |
You were very restrained with your shopping Kylie!
I'm up nice and early to get ready for my 5 mile race this morning. I don't know whether I'll have time to come back here after the race before the rugby and might just get showered there as it's half way to the game, so I'm busily preparing myself a nice healthy packed lunch so that I don't need to resort to rugby food (which, in the absence of meat would probably mean chips). I've got some mixed bean salad I made last night, a hummus and grilled red pepper sandwich and a couple of homemade apricot, tofu and oat bars (one for straight after the run, one as a snack for later), plus a couple of apples. I've had my breakfast, so I've just got a couple of hours to kill now as it shouldn't take me long to get down there. I'm less nervous than I've ever been before a race, and I haven't been preparing specifically for this one, I'm just going to turn up and see what happens :dizzy: |
Morning!
What a miserable day - it has just drizzelled for the whole of my 2 and a half hour walk! YP, Good luck for the race. Your food sounds gorgeous! I love the sound of that grilled pepper sandwich, I loved grilled/roasted mediterraean type veggies but I've not thought to have them in a sandwich. Excellent idea. :p They are doing guided walks on my Moors today. I am so used to being able to walk for miles and miles and not seeing another person so it was very strange to keep meeting up with bunches of people every time I turned a corner. I don't know what instructions they had been given about clothing but they were all togged up in what looked like very cold weather gear or mountain climbing clothes - and they were all very bright red because the temperature here isn't too bad. Sad for them that they weren't wearing wet weather clothes! Well, we're having a sort of modified roast chicken dinner today: Roast chicken with loads of fresh herbs, roast sweet potatoes and turnips, those little whole sweet carrots, sprouts, cauliflower and runner beans - and I'm going make a blueberry and port sauce to go with it (same as cranberry sauce but with blueberries) and I've promised DH to attempt a low GI home made sage and onion stuffing - which I won't be eating as it would take me over my cals for the day. :( |
 Hello!
I bought shoes yesterday :o Two pairs!! I was looking in the window of Office and a pair yelled "buy me" so I went in and got to try them on. While the lady was fetching them, I saw another great pair, so I got both! They are red shoes... to go with the red belt! |
Frus, you are such a shoe hoor!! :) They sound adorable!
|
So, do you get to wear the red shoes and the red belt at the same time??
Thats it! You've worn me down - I'm going to have to get DH to take me shoe shopping now. I neeeeeeeed some girlie shoes, all my shoes are walking type ones, although the last pair of hiking boots I got (when we were on holiday) were great lovely soft leather very girlie girlie baby pink ones. They are a sort of grey-brown colour now. :( Right, lets think, I need a new pair of black leather 'all purpose' ones - and a pair of low heeled ankle boots to go under trousers would be nice... oh - and I could do with a pair of sexy black high heeled 'evening out' shoes ..... and some summer sandals.... and this is before I've hit the shops! SEE WHAT YOU'VE DONE!!!  |
I've been up swimming this morning ,aren't we all fit and healthy types??? It was kinda nice, but there were an awful lot of brats in the pool. But the tall, cute, redhead gym instructor came and chatted to his mates for a while, so I had some eye candy, that kept me happy! :dizzy:
DH took me out for Sunday lunch, which was lovely. And I have come home leaving him to watch the rest of Newcastle V Liverpool. I hate football, except Aussie Rules, and I can tolerate League. I miss my chaps in tight shorts and tighter vest tops. (I think I must be on heat again :D ) I'm determined to have a normal week this week! And no silly down days. I got this months Health and Fitness magazine today, and a walking magazine for the dh (I'm so good to him) it has a really good looking new ball exercise to do, but I think it looks a bit dangerous! The worse that could happen is the ball shoot out from underneath me and thwack someone!!! WIll give it a try though!!! |
I want to go shoe shopping now!!!
The race went surprisingly well. There was an EVIL hill that you had to run twice, the course was a mile up the hill, a mile down it, a mile up it, a mile down it and then a mile to the finish. The first time wasn't so bad, but the second time nearly killed me. Still, I managed to finish the 5 miles in just about 41 minutes (I'm not 100% sure of the official time because the results aren't up yet, but it was between 40:58 and 41:02 I think) which was actually pretty good - it shows how far I've come that I'm kicking myself for not getting under 40 minutes (which would have been 8 minute miles) when I was pleased to average 10 minute miles in a race not so long ago! Then lets not talk about the rugby :( I will console myself about that and celebrate the race with a little wine and a vegetable biryani which is cooking away as I speak. Then no gym tomorrow because I've got to be in Sheffield for a meeting by 9. |

Check out these babies!
I had a really out of control weekend food wise. Well Saturday was ok, we went out for dinner and I had a beer. But Sunday all **** broke loose in my compulsive eating mind! Ah well, I think I was tired. I don't know. We went to St Albans for a look round, just had a bit of a walk really. DF got some new clothes! I made him buy them! Had a nice relax in the bath. I read my new H&F magazine, I am going to do that interesting weights and ball workout every Wednesday  as my weights workout. I'm thinking about going out for a run at lunch. I felt like going yesterday but didn't. It was nice weather for it. I just ate instead  Okay back on the healthy bandwagon today, looking after myself with pork and apple for lunch! :T Oooh I'm just writing to confirm the Barbican for the wedding. I spoke to a photographer yesterday, he's a friend of a guy at work so he shouldn't rip us off too much! :goodvibes |
I walked 4.5 miles some of the way to work. Am trying to plan a 10 k route, nearly there with, thank heavens for gmaps pedometer. Next purchase is a back pack for running, my current one bounces too much as I run. Then I can run to work! Well some of the way. I think 16 miles might be a bit too much to walk before work :dizzy:
That ball routine looked really good. When I get my exercise room set up, I'll be doing that. I've not used a medicine ball since school!!! Oh no loo again, been 5 times today, darned fluids! |
Pah medicine ball! That was a deadlift for heaven's sake! I'm gonna be using my 100lb barbell! It's a weight workout, they've just disguised it as a "toning" routine because the model is holding diddy dumbbells!
|
She got to squat throw it in the air and squat again to catch it, and they did that thing where she wizzed it around over her tummy lying on her back!
I watched a bit of the 65 kg ladies weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games yesterday, very inspiring!!! |
Oh I forgot about that one.... I'm sure you could do squats or something... and weighted crunches... I'll look closer when I'm feeling less full of ice cream like last night!
YP - how were those apricot oat bar thingies? Can you post the recipe? |
I want a medicine ball to throw at dh  I'm having all pink stuff in my room, a pink yoga mat, pink fitball and I will jolly well have a pink medicine ball too!!!
|
ooh sounds nice the pinkness I mean.
I went to the gym today 30 mins stepper, 20 mins bike now i'm off to walk to uni |
Pink medicine ball :chin: Hmmmmm
I just ran 44 minutes! Er only covered 5.7k though  I paced myself because I thought it would be tough going. It wasn't that bad and there was still fuel left in the tank! Good things I suppose! Oh and the gods were watching over me, cos as I was flagging at the 40 minute mark, The Day We Caught The Train came over my MP3! YAY! I love running to that song!! :D |
Well - what a fun morning that was! I saw an ad for something called Qui Gong and another one for yoga so I thought I'd try them out. I should have phoned first.
The whole thing was on a pretty tight schedule, I got up at 6, left the house at 7 walked the dogs until 8.45 (7 miles), came home, got changed + had a coffee then walked a couple of miles to the weird little building holding the Qui Gong class. Qui Gong turned out to be a version of Tai Chi. When I got there the room was full of 80 year olds, I thought that it was going to be easy - but all the 80 year olds knew exactly what they were doing and were very good at it. I was stood at the front and they laughed at me as I couldn't stand with my eyes shut without falling over and had problems standing on one leg. At the end of the hour I was definitely warm! I left the Qui Gong place at 10.30 and walked/trotted another couple of fast miles to the yoga place for the 90 minute class starting at 11. It turned out to be the classical form of yoga and not the more active type. Silly me, I was actually disappointed. Once again the class consisted entirely of little old ladies, but this time I didn't underestimate them, they were GOOD! One of them was so supple she was able to do a pose where she had to stand on one leg and bring the other back, up and round so that the sole of her foot was touching the top of her head!!! I still couldn't stand on one leg though - and all my muscles are aching. I'm exhausted - and my computer has just flashed up a reminder that today is one of my strength training days! :( |
wooo! What fun!
Never underestimate the power of LOLs (little old ladies...) |
My yoga teacher is an amazingly bendy LOL. She's fantastic. I love yoga!!! I can't wait to do more.
Just need more hours in the day!!! |
I actually walked to town this morning, I missed the bus so decided as I had time to kill I would walk into town!
|
Ouch - I've done my strength training - I think I'll just stick with my walking and strength training and the occasional blast on the stationary bike from now on. Those little old ladies are a formidable bunch!
I might treat myself to a book on Qui Gong or Tai Chi though - that was very calming (except for the bit when I fell over). |
I like tai chi, but I don't get to do it very often, it's at the wrong times at both work and the gym, sigh. I want to try Pilates must book into a course, I might try and blag a free pass!!!
I'm making frittata for tea, and I am gonna try and have it for breakfast tomorrow!!! I'm going straight to the gym after work, and then asda and then home, oh what fun. I tried to do my grocery shopping at ramsbottom this weekend, but the supermarkets are useless! |
I'm eating veg kebabs but I've done double marinade for half the veg it's a bit lemony! I'm still eating them all though.
|
Hello everyone
Glad to see you are all doing so well. I had huge computer problems, and I also didn't feel that good, another crop of coldsores and felt exhausted. However I am feeling much better. My weight is still the same but I feel good hormones must be at a good level. Take good Care Michele |
I walked to uni and back - somehow managed to get there 10 mins earlier than normal despite wearing a skirt (all my jeans are in the wash) big mistake its long and there wasn't enough leg room to walk so I had to hitch it right up. I don't do lady like steps its all about the power walking.
|
Frus - I found the oat bars very oily, and want to play around with the recipe a bit before posting something. They are very filling though, with porridge oats and tofu, but I want to find something better than the oil it used to bind the whole lot together.
I haven't exercised today, but hopefully I'll be back on track tomorrow morning. I came clean about the marathon plan to my boss today, she's now convinced I've been abducted by aliens and replaced by someone else! |
Okay - I'm looking at mangling a flapjack recipe that has bananas in! I think I might still use the butter and syrup but add some protein powder... We'll see next time I'm in the kitchen! Maybe Thursday!
I'm so impressed you're marathonning! :D Well done! I'm a bit achey and dehydrated from yesterday's efforts! That was my run and then teaching kickboxing, which I ended up doing quite a bit of kickboxing since the other instructor was feeling ill. It's all good! Ok I'm off to find some squash... |
Hello all, I walked 7.5 k's again some of the way to work, so I do listen to you all. My plan is to do it again tomorrow, then swim the other two mornings, and I gymmed it last night too.
I haven't done any baking in a year. I love baking but even if I find healthy recipes I am still tempted to overeat. Maybe I've changed and it'll be worth a try. YP you have been abducted by aliens and reported by scary fit person. I think that might have happened to me too, only scary fit people leave the house all decked out in running shoes and gym gear at 5.45 in the morning! |
 I'm surrounded by scary fit people :yikes:
NOTHING would get me out of the house at 5:45... Except perhaps chocolate ;) |
I didn't have chocolate yesterday!!! Except Rosemary Conley chocolate pudding which doesn't count!
I was going to have frittata for breakfast this morning, but decided on porridge to galvanise me against the cold on my walk, and I'll have it for tea. No exercise tonight, except maybe some core stretches at home. Before seeing scary swimming buddy to collect my Avon. Pretty make up!!!! |
I don't know what I did to myself yesterday - assorted muscles keep going in to cramp. I must have been woken up at least a dozen times during the night with one bit or another of me in agony! The most painful cramp was in the muscle at the top inside of my thigh - DH thought I'd gone nuts when I started hopping round the bedroom clutching it! :dizzy: I thought my walk would sort it out a bit but I'm still all achey. Time to figure out how the massage pulse jets thing works in our new shower! I keep wondering about the RC choc puds because everyone says how nice they are. Luckily chocolate isn't a problem for me, if I eat more than a couple of squares and it gives me a headache. My problem has always been savoury foods, especially cheese. I haven't done any baking for a long while, either. DH is getting a bit moany about that kind of thing so I might make him a cake - he's also been moaning about not having a steak and kidney pudding recently either. Well, I'll soon find out if all my exercising, etc, has had the required effect. My doctor's nurse, whose doing my medical on Thursday, just phoned to say my notes have come through from my last doctor and I've been flagged up to URGENTLY have tests done for thyroid, BP, cholesterol and diabetes - luckily I was booked in for that medical on Thursday! :dizzy: |
