I used to ride motorbikes as well. I got my first one when I went to Uni (age 35!) Got my full licence at 37 and then used up all my grant on buying a Z1000 that a friend of mine had renovated (beautiful bike). I had it 3 years and then it got nicked from outside my house :censored: and because it wasn't imobilised (sp??) the insurance refused to pay out. Double :censored: :censored:

At the time I was still at Uni during the day 40+ miles from home and working mid-shift 5pm to 1am as a 'part time' job. If it wasn't for the manager I worked for giving me a lift to and from work I'd have had to pack up the job. That manager turned out to be the current Mr Sarah  - so, basically, if my bike hadn't been nicked I would not have been happily married now and I certainly wouldn't have moved to Yorkshire. I'd have probably been a practising lawyer working in London.

Even weirder - six months after it got nicked I got a phone call from the Police - they had a bike that they thought was mine and would I like to go and identify it. So me and the friend who had renovated it went to see it. It was completely unrecognisable but the numbers matched mine - it had been completely stripped and trashed. The Policeman I spoke to that day said they had actually recovered the bike the day after I had reported it stolen but that due to an 'oversight' I hadn't been notified. Apparently it had been discovered in the back garden of a major drugs dealer. Its a creepy thought that if a policeman had done his job properly then I would have had a completely different life in a completely different part of the country. :dizzy:

Sorry to ramble.....

He he, that's a great story! Poor bikey.

Gimme Yorkshire over London any day! I want to "retire" there for my second job! Perhaps a little B&B or cottage to rent out and I'll do some personal training stuff too... Just have to keep DF occupied up there too!

I'm a bad girl, I had a Mars Bar last night, not had one in 14 months!!! It was really nice, but I think it will be another 14 months before I have one again! I'm off to the gym in a moment, doing aerobics!!! I dont do aerobics!!! Everyone will laugh at me, our gym is so small that we do it in a line, I can't hide at the back and follow everyone else!

2frustrated 02-07-2006 07:52 AM

Oooh Mars Bar! *dribble*

I had one the other day.. it led to a 36 hour binge!

impossible princess 02-07-2006 08:15 AM

I had another doughnut this morning :(

But I was just really good I met my friends in a cafe for lunch and just had a tea ( had a big pasta salad waiting for me at hom) and watched while they ate full breakfasts with fried bread.

kykaree 02-07-2006 08:21 AM

I thought it was quite an achievement, I ate a mars bar and that was it, no binge!!!

I've just been to aerobics at work, phewee, what a workout!!!!! It was really good but a lot harder than their usual classes.

Bums legs and tums tomorrow, that sounds ominous!

That is a really good thing shows you are in control.

Every tried water aerobics classes I stupidly thought they would be easier than regular aerobics but they completely killed me I've never felt so exercised in my life I couldnt move properly for a week after.

I have exams so no exercise for me this week but I'll go to pilates next week sometime.

I managed to hole my nice trousers in the wash so annoyed I've finally managed to get in them decently again they were super tight before and now they go and rip in the wash grrrr!!!!

2frustrated 02-07-2006 08:29 AM

:cp: Well done! I used to have 2 a week before kickboxing! but the last time I had one, well yeah ok!

Where've you been anyway, or are you just lurking... You seem quiet! How's the running going?

kykaree 02-07-2006 08:39 AM

I've been around!!! My asthma has kept me lying low, unfortunately, and I have been sleeping every spare moment I get!!! I'm buying my trainers on my week off next week, then I'll start pounding the footpaths!!! I'm planning on running every second day on my hols and kick starting my training.

i've decided it's better just to get something naughty than to nibble on stuff in the house, like nuts, peanut butter etc etc, all those nibbles add up, and it's best just to have something calorie measured and be done with it, than trying to kid myself that I am being healthy avoiding junk!

I'm looking forward to fat night tonight!!!

2frustrated 02-07-2006 08:44 AM

Are you still a sick bunny?

Are you going to get your feet scanned? I found it was really stupid fun!
I've got nuts and peanut butter in the house, but I can take them or leave them. I have a few nuts in my packed lunch and forget about the rest! I actually bought more peanut butter when I hadn't finished the other jar yet!

Oooh fat night.... *sigh* all kickboxing no TV makes Frus go :hyper:

kykaree 02-07-2006 08:59 AM

I'm getting better, still a bit like Darth Vader but much improved. I am sitting at a new desk in an office with old carpet. My manager couldn't believe the difference!! I am really am allergic to it!!!!

I don't watch a lot of telly, but I did watch Life on Mars last night, which I love, and of course Fat Night! But not much else.

2frustrated 02-07-2006 09:08 AM

We have no TV and I don't miss it at all! Apart from the Simpsons and ER but they are all repeats anyway! Plus my arse never graces the couch long enough to watch anything!

Sarah Ann 02-07-2006 09:16 AM

Kykaree, well done on resisting temptation. :hat: I don't think I could control myself if I had all those goodies available. I'd just shovel it in with both hands! One of the good things about living where I do and not having a car available during the day is that I get all my food delivered by Sainsburys. I've deleted all the naughty stuff off of my regulars list on their website so I would have to make a conscious decision to order doughnuts or Mars Bars. I'm also on first name terms with the women who deliver (and pick the food) and they know I'm trying to lose weight so it would be embarrassing if I were to ask them to break my diet for me.

There is no way I could impulse buy anything locally - or give in to a craving - its a 25 minute walk to the nearest shop (and another 25 back again). :sp:

Sarah Ann 02-07-2006 09:19 AM

Life on Mars is great - its about a policeman who is in a car accident and wakes up in 1973. The stories are okay but the best thing about it is spotting the mistakes - ie the satellite dishes hidden by shrubs (half way up a wall) - or the double glazing and air conditioning units.

impossible princess 02-07-2006 09:52 AM

i haven't watched it yet.

I'm falling asleep I've been having terrible migraines so I've been living off painkillers constantly for the last week that have caffeine in them. Today is the first day i haven't taken them and tis having an affect think I'll have to go to the corner shop to get a diet coke.
