That must be an incredible feeling YP :D Congratulations!

Frus..they must be the cheap SEVEN ones then  I did'nt hear anything about "for all mankind" :dunno:

YP1 09-08-2005 03:26 PM

Forgot to say earlier, I'm off to Dublin tomorrow (kind of) so I won't be back online til Monday or possibly Tuesday (depending whether I get home from work on Monday and go straight to sleep. It could well be one of those weekends...)

I'm only flying on Saturday morning, but I'm going straight from the gym to work to the rugby to the airport (to sleep for a couple of hours before the flight) to Dublin, then back late on Sunday, home at about 2am then up for work on Monday.

I'm expecting to eat absolute rubbish all weekend, drink lots of alcohol and do no exercise. So if I do better than that it will be a bonus but at least I don't have unreasonably high expectations ;)

miss.colesef 09-08-2005 03:28 PM

what diets are you all doing?

cat90 09-08-2005 03:51 PM

I'm just trying to watch the Cals/fat gms :dunno: no specific diet as such.

BritinNJ 09-12-2005 12:39 AM

I am getting fatter by the minute!!! HELP ME!!! I know why it is.. haven't had a ciggy in four weeks now, but find myself nibbling naughty bits of an evening.

I had to cancell Curves, I can't get there, with my time schedule and their open hours so apart from walking, I'm not doing any excercise... add to this, I just started back to school, had four classes this week, and spent all day today, recising, doing homework, in between cleaning pit that we call home... washing, hanging out on line and folding...a weeks worth of dirty washing... and today is the first day I had a real craving for nicotine... I didn't succumb though :)

Please just help me to stop the munchies though, I just sat here and read everyone's good posts while eating choc cake and ice cream !!! AGH!

Welcome all the newbies... join the mad house, and plese help me get back on the wagon, cos I have seriously fallen off... I'm scared to weigh in... I know I've gained horribly... prob back to my starting weight from trhee years ago with the crap I've shoved in my cakehole....AKA... big gob....

HELP.HELP...HELP...HELP......HELP.........HELP.... .....

2frustrated 09-12-2005 04:11 AM

Poor chris!

It's a shame you can't get to Curves, can you so some exercise videos? Try banning all the cakes from the house!! Just stock up on fruit!

Cat, I had eggy bread, chinese, fish and chips and figgy pudding and chocolate hobnobs and crisps :o

veggie 09-12-2005 08:35 AM

Oh dear Chris is having a veggie moment one of my trademarked diet breakdowns :p I can't help, mine has lasted all year. :o

cat90 09-12-2005 12:27 PM

Hey Chris..all that housework "cleaning the pit  " and doing laundry is great exercise plus you've been walking so you have'nt been sat on your @ss :joker: don't be so hard on yourself ;) now we just need to pry that icecream spoon out of your tight little fist :chin: :lol3: come on girl :coach: PUT IT DOWN!!

YP1 09-12-2005 02:13 PM

PUT DOWN THE ICE CREAM!

I'm back, in one piece and not as hungover as I expected. Last weekend's cocktail binge must really have done some damage - I started drinking at a wine tasting on Saturday lunchtime (well, if they're handing out free wine I'm not going to turn it down...) and started to feel drunk far too quickly so stopped and ate a burger to sober up :o. Then went to the Guinness brewery and had a pint, started to feel pissed again. Then tried back on the wine, didn't get much further, and then, to my shame, gave up for the day. Had another pint of Guinness yesterday lunchtime and that was enough for me.

I go to Dublin and I have two pints and a bit of wine? What's wrong with me?!!!

the scales still managed to be a whopping 4lb up this morning though (and no, I didn't eat that much...), so maybe I need to go back to the drinking and throwing up approach as that always takes pounds off me for a week or so ;)

2frustrated 09-12-2005 03:31 PM

So that's how you do it! Maybe I should start drinking!

Have to iron his shirts next... *sigh* at least he's washing up!

Dippy Chip 09-12-2005 04:03 PM

Hi folks

Been AWOL for a while again, but this time it was because I had 'puter problems rather than because I was feeling fed up and demoralised. Today I'm typing this on my bouncing baby brand-new shiny laptop :D . Whoopee!

The exercise has been pretty poor lately, and I need to give myself a good kick up the :censored: ...apart from that, though, things have been going pretty uneventfully, and I finally think I've got the hang of this 'living healthily on auto-pilot' thing. Lets hope that's not famous last words :o :p :D .

I've been embarked on this 'journey' for 6 whole months today :woo: :hb: , and so far I've lost exactly 3 stones. Only another 4 stones to go! Yay me! :cheer: The laptop was a very indulgent (but essential!) 6 month anniversary pressie to myself! I figured it was much more fun and necessary than new clothes - hey, I LIKE looking like Coco the Clown in my baggy trousers! :joker:

When I started, at 16st 6lbs (230lbs) it seemed like a very arduous journey to get to 15 st 6lbs (216lbs) ...let alone to 13 st 6lbs (188lbs).

Now that I'm AT 13 st 6lbs it's only a matter of time until I'm at 12st 6lbs...then 11st 6lbs...then..well, you get the idea. It's like anything - if you plug away at it with enough patience and stubbornness, you'll get there in the end.

I've set myself a provisional finish date for the weight loss phase of a year today (12th September 2006), which will be exactly 18 months from the day I started. If I get there it'll be a mini-miracle, because the longest I've ever 'dieted' is 35 consecutive weeks...but that's what I'm aiming for, and as long as I'm still plugging away at it in a year's time, it's not really important if I'm "at goal" or not. It's the means not the end that's important to me, and from what I gather maintenance is a :censored: :censored: :censored: , so I'm not in any special rush to get there  .

Anyway, it's nice to be back on-line, and I have so many posts to catch up on! Onward and downward, folks!

Kind regards,

Janey :p

veggie 09-12-2005 08:08 PM

Good to see you Janey :D we missed you :( Happy Anniversary ;) and happy new laptop :comp:

miss.colesef 09-13-2005 05:22 AM

got my first weigh-in at ww tonight! arrggghhhh :dizzy:

veggie 09-13-2005 10:28 AM

You'll be fine

YP1 09-13-2005 02:23 PM

Good luck!

I booked a christmas shopping trip to Edinburgh today. Planning very far ahead as usual, but the tickets were dead cheap and I didn't think they'd be available for long...

I'm hoping it's before the office party and that I can spend the entire day looking for a slinky dress to wear and show off lots of toned flesh in ;)

miss.colesef 09-13-2005 04:24 PM

ooooooo your shopping trip sounds like fun!

I went to my first weigh in and lost 5 1/2 pounds so very pleased with myself!

2frustrated 09-13-2005 04:55 PM

Well done miss colesef!

YP - slinky shopping WOOO!

I have been offered the opportunity to follow a "fast-track" black belt course in kickboxing so that I can become a teacher! :D I am chuffed to say the least! :faint: :hyper:

Apart from that, nothing much happened today. Oh some guy shouted at me for buying petrol, but he was a :censored: and I proved him completely wrong in the end!

cat90 09-13-2005 05:11 PM

See :) We knew you could do it :cp: Well Done!

Hiya Janey..you're doing great :D

Got an email from my daughter this morning she wrote that Olivia had picked up the phone in the bedroom and somehow dialled 999!!! then said "Burger, Chips and Pizza" she'd obviously seen her parents doing it (ringing a takeaway I mean not calling the police) :lol3: the cops came around to the house investigating an abandoned call  how embarrassing! :o

Got a phone call earlier offering me the job i'd been for and informing me of the hourly wage :( the pay is terrible :( it pays even less than any other of the pathetic jobs i've held while living here  it really is disgraceful what these people think they can get away with :rollpin: I told hubby and he told me to tell them to :censored: off! and tell them I want more plus full time hours  (they only offer part time to get out of paying benefits) I said what good will that do? they'll just get someone else :lol3: i'm quite disappointed now :( but what can you do? i'll go and have a chat with her anyway because we all have to go to a meeting on friday from 3pm to 10pm and if its not paid then I think they can st*ff it

cat90 09-13-2005 05:13 PM

Oooh..good for you Frus :D some guy shouted at you for buying petrol? why?

veggie 09-13-2005 05:55 PM

Well done miss colesef :D

Cat we are in the middle of a panic petrol buying mood in the country at the moment.

2frustrated 09-14-2005 03:51 AM

Two words: Ow and Ow! I appear to have busted something in my neck/shoulder this morning by doing... erm, nothing! I now smell of deep heat. So does the toilet!

Petrol story - Well since I am a motorcycle, the front pump was free, but no-one could get to it, cos the car behind was blocking the way as the person was paying. So I nipped in to use the pump in front, so as not to hold up all the people behind me and to help the queue move faster. The guy behind the stationary car was not amused! He told me to get back in the queue! I said that I was helping the queue move by using the pump. Then after I'd finished filling up, the car blocking the way was still there, so I walked up to the guy who shouted at me and said, "Please, feel free to use the pump. But you still can't get past!" :censored: I was really wound up by that! I got in the shop and was shaking like a leaf! What a :censored:

shush 09-14-2005 11:24 AM

Frus, you could have said that if he wanted to make something of it to get out of his car and then you could have kickboxed his butt all over the forecourt. :stars: (well, maybe in an ideal world)

At least you spoke up for yourself and hopefully made him realise what a complete t*sser he made of himself. :cp:

shush 09-14-2005 11:34 AM

Cat,your hubby is so right tell them to :censored: off it seems to me that a woman of your intelligence and capabilities would be an asset to any company and should be paid accordingly. :queen:

Fantastic
Your wee lassie Olivia has definitely got the right idea sometimes burger, chips and pizza are emergencies! :D

2frustrated 09-14-2005 11:34 AM

Yes I was toying with the idea of saying that I needed the kickboxing practice!

YP1 09-14-2005 02:19 PM

Petrol panic seems to have died down here, one of the petrol stations was getting a delivery as I drove past and one of the others seemed to have petrol but no queues. I wouldn't have bothered getting in some of the queues I saw yesterday (but I didn't have to as the petrol station was empty and queue free at 6.30am on the way to the gym ;) )

I've made an appointment for my fab 5 stone haircut on Saturday, I want to get something shorter, flickier and cooler than I have at the minute to show off the face that is starting to emerge from beneath the mass of hair. Except I'll probably walk in, chicken out and come back with exactly what I already have but neater. Suppose it will serve me right for doing it a couple of pounds early, but it desperately needs doing and I'm too impatient to wait til I get to 5 stone gone. I just need to make sure I get there now to make sure I earn it properly ;)

cat90 09-14-2005 02:40 PM

Awww :thanks: Shush :o ;)

Frus, I saw something on the news about petrol in the UK there was a lot of trucks lined up and some woman pointing and shouting at some guy in his car :goodluck: and she was'nt wishing him Good Luck :lol3: it was'nt you was it Frus? NO IT WAS'NT i'd have recognised you :mag:  and your :bike:

I like the sound of your flickier new do YP :D go for it..You deserve it now!

veggie 09-14-2005 07:16 PM

YP I do that at the hairdressers all the time, I always come out with a bob. :tantrum:

I may go back to fat club tomorrow I dunno. First time I did great, 3 stone in 3 months then second time I did 3 pounds in 3 months. :?:

shush 09-15-2005 11:18 AM

Veggie,
I'm with you on the hairdresser thing. I've pretty much had the same style for 15 years :fr: I think if i asked the hairdresser to suggest something that suits me he/she might just say "a paper bag." :D

2frustrated 09-15-2005 11:40 AM

 I have a total paranoia about hairdressers - after about 20 years I've finally got my hair under control and they haven't got the first CLUE about how it behaves with BLOW DRYING or TEASING or any other form of touching!

As for the cut, well I ended up spending lots and lots and lots once for a "curly haired expert" and I watched her do it and I thought - I can do that at home! So I do!

I do like going for some colour occasionally though - although Dom doesn't like it, but someday I will get it dyed black or ginger! Just for the crack!

Also, I did think about shaving my head recently, cos all my hair ever does is get in the way! I hardly ever wear it down and curly. Then I thought it might make me look a bit butch - kickboxing, weightlifting, motorbike, shaved head, Doc Martens...

Maybe one day I will shave it off! I'll have to start wearing hats though cos I'll be so cold!

YP1 09-15-2005 03:07 PM

I'm still trying to come up with the description of what I want so it doesn't end up the same. Maybe I should just go in and say that if it looks like it does now (other than being tidier and dried/straightened properly) I won't pay and see what I get. Actually, maybe I also need to say it needs to be work safe before I do that ;)

I hate it when it starts to get cold and dark. I much prefer summer, particularly as I don't have many winter clothes that fit me. Then it hit me, all my sister's winter stuff is here, which gives me a whole new wardrobe to aim at. So I'm currently wearing one of her jumpers, probably the first time I've ever been able to fit in her clothes.

Also, I tried my size 14 suit on earlier to see whether it's ready for wearing yet, and IT IS :D :D :D

YP1 09-15-2005 04:20 PM

Oh. My. God.

I've just spent the past 2 weeks trying to find the perfect pair of jeans, and it feels like I've tried on every pair of jeans in Leeds. I didn't want to pay too much for them as I'm hoping to shrink yet further, but I wanted something a bit smaller than the Gap jeans I'm wearing at the moment which are shockingly getting a little loose. The perfect pair seemed to be eluding me, although I was getting closer today.

I never thought I'd find them in the drawer full of my skinny sister's old winter clothes :o I knew she'd slimmed down a bit since she started working as a scuba diving instructor, but still, I didn't quite realise that I'm now the same size as she was 2 years ago (I know exactly when as I found a cinema ticket in the pocket, November 2003).

Fantastic, I'll borrow them for a while as she doesn't need them (not being that size, and not being in the country anyway) and save myself the cost of buying any more jeans for another size or two.

Off to rummage a bit more to see what else I can find!

Edit -

excuse my language, but f*** me! I've now retrieved a size 14 suit from Next, some size 14 River Island trousers, a size 14 dress from Debenhams and assorted tops and jumpers, to join the aforementioned jeans. Some of them are a little tight, but they all seem to pretty much fit. I'm sure she won't mind... ;)

cat90 09-15-2005 06:00 PM

Ooh 'eck :dunno: I hope she is'nt a lurker YP

2frustrated 09-16-2005 03:36 AM

Hooray for 14s!

I'm :censored: off! Scales haven't moved after a MONTH! Body fat % is UP! What is going on?? :tantrum:

shush 09-16-2005 04:40 AM

Does exercising help with PMT?

I :censored: hope so because i've just booked my first :censored: class it's for beginners and it's called :censored: "mystery".
Let's hope it improves my :censored: mood. :tantrum:
(My other half has wisely decided to p*ss off out of the way for a while which is why I'm venting my spleen here.)

Sorry guys :^:
I'll fill you in on the "mystery" later.
