Been busy looking for a new flat closer to where my husband works. The tenancy on this place runs out in October and we'd like to leave sooner. The long train rides are cutting into our quality time!
We had a lovely 1st anniversary on Sunday. He took me up to Wimbledon to show me where he works and have a look round. Shops as far as the eye can see...! We had dinner and drinks at an Italian-American restaurant and the food was divine. :T The drinks were a bit watered down though. Haven't exercised at all since Saturday and we've been eating out a bit too much. But I went grocery shopping yesterday so it's back on track for me. |
Morning :)
YP: you go girl on those 10k's! Ambitious for sure! I'm planning to enter my first 5k in September and am dreading it . I'm still in my plateau, it's been over a month now. My inner fat chick has been fighting constantly to not go to the gym. I didn't go at all last week, bad me. Went last night though and did 30 mins on the elliptical, 10 mins on the treadmill then did some walking lunges. Oh. My. God. Walking lunges are evil, evil I tell you! I am sore this morning but it was worth it, I feel pretty good about doing them. Still fighting off the MacDonalds urges but last night I won my biggest battle. There is the best mexican restaurant near where we live and I love eating there. So we're driving home and I'm moaning about how much I could eat a chimichanga etc. and the hubby suggests we stop. Well, I find it in myself to urge him to just drive home instead and that we did. When we got in I cooked us a nice tea of chicken supreme with broccoli. I feel so proud. Any other time I would have caved in and stopped for mexican. Tonight I'm grilling pork chops and tomorrow (hopefully) I go to the gym again. |
Woo! Well done Lynne! What willpower! My plateau's about 8 months old now!
I will beat the crap out of it one day! |
Thanks 2frustrated :)
You've had your plateau for 8 months? Yikes! I've changed my exercise routine and my diet a little (cut back on carbs and added more protein) and still no change. Still, as long as I don't put the weight back on that I have lost, it's all good. |
Have been concentrating too much on my studies! I figured, what does a little bit of fat matter compared to a degree grade! I am now kicking butt again - my 3rd week being as good as gold  and weight lifting! Although the scales don't seem to agree. It's water I tell you - WATER
Do I seem mad to you? |
he-he-he YES IT IS WATER
Lounging around drinking hot water this morning  its awful when you can't even have a tea-bag is'nt it? I can't EAT either :yikes: not until around noon when I can have a piece of toast :dunno: my stomach was rumbling when I was being scanned yesterday  so it will really be groaning this morning  I was going to :tread: before I leave but it might affect the test so i'd better wait and do it there I think :dunno: I can't wait for it to be over with then tonight I can settle down and enjoy an ice cold Bud :T |
It's definitely water :). Just keep telling yourself often enough ;)
|
This is a link to this years challenge http://www.gosh.org/events/china/index.html but I am planning to do it next year, when I am a bit fitter and hopefully slimmer.
It's something I really want to do, and a charity I really care about, so why not????? |
Go for it! I'd love to do something like that but don't think I'd get the time off work (and I don't have enough holiday to use that for it while still managing to see my family at any point during the year :( )
|
I only get 25 days a year, but the trek runs from the 5th to the 15th, so it's only 10 days long. My company will match what I fundraise, so that will help push my total along. I have done a couple of fundraisers at work, that have always been quite successful, but this will be a big challenge!!!
|
Only 25 days? :joker: Two thousand six hundred and fifty quid :faint: thats quite a chunk of change to find  but if you really have your heart set on it :goodluck: Kyk. Btw those 39 ish steps look more like 139 to me
I was'nt too impressed with todays hospital visit  but its over with now and i'll find out at the end of the month if i'll live or not  actually these last 4 days have been good for me because when they told me "You CAN"T have chocolate or alcohol" and I DID'NT have any then I knew that I can leave it alone..so why can't I abide by that rule for myself? A little voice inside of me says "I fancy some chocolate" or "I want a beer" and I go and get it..there is no other voice  telling me YOU CAN'T have it. My plan was to have an ice cold Bud tonight (now that i'm free  ) but now i'm thinking about all the calories in it :lol3: and I won't stop at one it will be more like 3 or 4 (about 600cals) so I think I might abstain again ;) but don't hold me to it :lol3: |
I have survived two birthdays this week (just about). No fat club either as it was shut. :genie: :hyper:
|
Well done veggie for surviving 2 birthdays, they are so tempting birthdays. So much nice food around at times like that. So far since my diet started in March 2005 i have eaten out, in May (daughters birthday) june(eldest sons birthday) July (youngest sons birthday). So slap on the back for surviving.
Im just looking forward to my birthday in september woohoooo. Mary |
Where has Chris got to? :dunno: I miss her
The little voice let me down  I was out  on Saturday and Sunday  feeling yucky today as well :p serves me right  |
I'm here Cat.. thanks for missing me :)
I have been hecticly busy at work recently, had friends over from home for two weeks and had to have a near melt down last Friday, to convince my lovely kids that I'm not bloody superwoman and I can't do everything without losing my sanity if they don't help out! I got the message across, they were both angels over the weekend and I didn't have to ask them to do anything, they just did all the things they were supposed to :) My eating isn't too bad, I'm counting, but no exercise... can't find the energy or the time... hubby has mentioned bying me a treadmill though... we can walk together... How's everyone else doing? |
Hello Brit!
Just been out all morning to get some bits from a wheelchair! Took us 30 mins to drive there and over an hour to drive back! Hmmmm methinks my driver was on a work skive! I'm not complaining, look what I'm doing..... ;) |
I've been shopping again :s:
I realised I only have one suit that fits me, and even that is a little loose (despite me only buying it in June and buying the skirt and trousers in two sizes, one of which didn't fit properly at the time in an attempt to make it last longer) So I hit the Next clearance shop and found a suit I liked. There are no changing rooms so I had to do my best to try it on on the shop floor (they do allow refunds to be fair though). I tried the 16. The jacket was possibly a little baggy, and the skirt fastened easily despite the fact that I had my suit trousers on underneath it. I didn't want to be caught out again by not being able to wear something for long because it was already baggy when I bought it, so I took a deep breath, picked up the 14 and walked to the till :dizzy: It's a little tight, but it does fasten. And that's more than I can say about some of the size 20 suits when I was in my denying I'm a size 22 stage - the skirts would be horribly tight (and I have the ripped linings to prove it) and the jackets would have to stay open because they didn't fasten. Shockingly, it looks better than what I wore did back then. I'm planning to leave it for a few weeks and hope to shrink into it so it fits more comfortably, but I own a size 14 suit! And it fastens! |
Just time for a very quick post to let you know that I've not gone AWOL or fallen off the wagon - I'm just house-sitting for Kim's mum while she's on honeymoon, and I don't have internet access - talk about cold turkey!
Weight-wise I'm doing well - down 3lbs this week to 193lbs (13st 11lbs), and on Saturday I bought my first size 16 trousers, in Marks and Sparks. In most other shops I'm still an 18 (and in SOME :tantrum: :censored: :tantrum: :censored: shops I'm still a 20), but ****, now I've bought two skirts and a pair of trousers in size 16 in M&S I'm considering myself officially that size, and forgetting that it's only one shop out of millions! We go to Cornwall for a week's camping on Saturday, so more internet-less days - I'll try to pop in here on Friday to see how you're all doing. If I don't make it, enjoy next week, and see you on bank holiday Monday! Janey ;) |
Congrats on the smaller sizes Ladies :cp:
Hiya Chris  glad to hear that you are still sane  Frus..bits from a wheelchair :?: :fr: :dunno: I have'nt exercised since Friday so i've got to convince myself to get back at it today  :halfempty I've had a shower though and been out so I don't want to get all sweaty :p maybe i'll do something thats not strenuous  |
Hi ladies, I often read your threads and feel like I know you all, but am a regular poster over on WW boards. I just posted something over there and I thought I would run it by you guys as well - do any of you read the Observer newspaper? Did you see the TV section this week, where they reviewed the new BBC programme 'No Waste Like Home'? And did you see what they wrote about the presenter, who is a serious environmentalist, very professional and attractive and just happens to be a larger lady? They wrote that she 'looks as if she regularly consumes enough food to feed a
small country for a year'. How gratuitous is that? I was furious enough to send the editor an e-mail about it ... but I wondered if anybody else had noticed or if I was overreacting about it? Hope you're all having a lovely evening! |
Hi Lollybird :D good to see you posting here as well as ww ;) I didn't see that Observer bit but I did see the womans picture in a tv preview, I did wonder if there would be comments as TV pre/reviewers can be stupid. I don't think sending an email is harsh, I would of if I'd seen it. :)
|
I haven't seen it, or the programme, but it sounds completely unrelated and gratuitous, so why not complain...
|
Yeah I would've complained too!
Cat - I work for a company that designs and manufactures products for the disabled. We went to get some arm rest things that we'd made so that we could adjust them. Had nice kickboxing class last night - forgot to take my sports bra! :o so was bouncing around  what made it worse was the 13 yr old black belt boy who was taking the class! I kept giggling and getting press ups! :lol3: Looking forward to weights tonight - don't feel too sore apart from my busted up wrist! |

Oh, interesting work Frus :) and you get to go out AND get paid  need any staff ? :halfempty
Huh, I bought some winegums last week thinking that they'd be better than eating chocolate :dunno: well..yesterday I worked out that 9 of the measly :censored: 's is 140cals!! :yikes: and i'd have 15!! no wonder i'm not losing any weight  |
NO fat in wine gums though.... ;)
Going to make some apple banana muffin type thingy that I found on the ladies who lift forum. Sounds yummy and high in protein! WOO! |
I'm not going to fat club can't face it. I may never go back. It hasn't helped me lose any weight at all  and I keep sabotaging myself the night before. I might go back to ww online...
|
Aww veg! We need to get you a Mr Motivator.. LYCRA anyone?
|
Hey Veggie, I hated the fat club meetings too. I think you have to be really lucky with your leader to make it work. I love online though (so far...).
|
I've not done fat club or WW online, but lycra really works. Just buy some, imagine your arse in it and you'll shed the pounds in fright ;) :D
|

Hello!
It's nearly the weekend! :) thank god! I got weighed yesterday, see the updated siggy and I am down another 6lbs so a total of 21lbs in about 4 weeks! I've had no chocolate now for nearly 4 weeks! (this has to be my best record!!!, and I am not missing it).... I seem to be so busy going to the gym and stuff I don't have time to eat! So I am halfway to my first mini goal which I am hoping to reach sometime in October so I think I am on track to do it! Now for my dilema.... I've been offer a house which I like, well a 1 bed bungalow and I been looking for a new place to live for 4 years. I have seen it and even spoke with the people living next door, the house is perfect for me, although I have seen it from the outside I cannot view the inside till next week. The lady next door let me look in hers so I have an idea! :dizzy: If I move, it's the other side of town, and being a dog lover, I have a dog who I don't like leaving much, and living near mum and dad now they can take care of him whilst I am at work, he's get a couple of walks a day and granny goes over to play ball! lol :p If I move, I lose the dog sitters, If I move I'll have to reduce my hours or days..., there are no shops near this place and I don't drive..... and it's not near the gym I have joined so I'd have to cancel my membership, and there is no gym near by.... if I move there is no where to park a car, and I hope to start driving lessons when I am a little lighter.... Ummmmmmmmmm I cannot decide!!!! HELP! |
Oh dear Maz! I guess it depends on how much you LOVE the house! Could you start cycling places?
I had a HORRIBLE journey on my Mbike last night, 3 near misses in the space of about 20 mins , then this morning it is P*SSING down. Really really badly! And my waterproof trousers have started to leak, so I have a HUGE wet patch on my bum! And I work in an all male office! Oh the shame! :o  Yuk yuk yuk! Had a good kickbox session last night, managed to whoop *** of the evil instructor who everybody hates! I got him right on the nose! HOORAY! Then is was SOOO hot last night, woke up in the night about 5 times, then it was a thunder storm at 4am that was rattling the doors and windows! :tired: Hope tomorrow is a better day! :D |
I think we had the same thunderstorm here. Our cats dove under the duvet when they heard the thunder!
|
Well done on the loss Alison :bravo: House is tricky as good dog walkers are hard to find, free ones even harder. ;)
|
Oh Maz :dunno: Look at all those negatives and the only positive is that you like the bungalow :?: I would'nt go :nono: unless you really really love  it and you can move Mum and Dad in with you ;) :joker:
Well..I wasted a whole beautiful day online yesterday  I did'nt get off this thing until 7pm and I DID'NT EXERCISE :rollpin:  so I won't be doing that today..i'm going to exercise..scooter ride and maybe a spot of sunbathing to top up my tan :) Hope you all have a great weekend  |
I met YP1!!!! We had a great day in Leeds, we ate (sensibly!!) drank (reasonably sensibly) and shopped very sensibly, neither of us bought a thing!!!
It was lovely putting a face to the name, and let me just say, her photos, as good as they are, don't do her justice, she looks wonderful!!! Roll on the October meet up!!! |
