August Exercise!
See I'm imaginative today!
Did lower body workout with weights this morning. Hopefully upper body tonight - would've done it all tonight but we're going to a friend's for dinner :o Hope he doesn't feed us too well! |
35 minutes walking hard hills on the treadmill and 15 minutes on the cross trainer this morning. Probably 30 minutes of pilates later.
|
Stroll around the falkirk wheel in the sunshine, doesn't match up to the ladies above, but better than sitting on the couch munching
|
wow you are all doing so well on exercise
I decided that i should start doing some sort of exercise so my plan is to build up gradually. So i intend to do 15 mins exercise on my treadmill every day mon-fri and im going to up it every week. So done my 15 mins running and walking on the treadmill and covered 1.2km Mary |
Weight lifting and 55 minute walk today.
|
I was going to do weights today, but the boys wouldn't let me play in their sandpit :( So I did 15 minutes on level 17 on the treadmill (don't feel ready for level 20 yet!!!) 10 minutes on the cross trainer, 10 minutes on the bike, 10 minutes on the stepper, and 5 minutes recumbent bike to cool down. It was very fun. I really have to hit the weights tomorrow, I am also planning to swim.
|
Finished off my weights workout with upper body last night! Discovered that I can squat 30lbs rather than the 25lbs I had been doing in the morning! and :cheer:
Kickboxing tonight! :hyper: |
Hi everyone
Can anyone tell me exactly what is Pilates? Im looking to buy a dvd that i can use to tone up any ideals? Mary |
YP1 would know more than me, but from my understanding it's a system of toning exercises, it takes many forms, as you can do it with loads of equipment, or quite simply with just a few tools, or just on its own.
I did my weights this morning in the big boys sandpit, and then swam for half an hour. Going power shopping at lunch!!! |
Pilates is strengthening and toning exercises that focus on your "core" muscles ie your abs and your back muscles, although more concentrated on the abs. Pilates teaches you great posture and spinal alignment, so if you find yourself slouching all the time then it's good for that! Standing up tall can also make you look thinner so I like that!
Try it, you'll like it! It's not too strenuous either ;) |
It's not too strenuous, although it gives your abs a good workout. Basically you have to keep your "core" stable and engaged while you move other muscles - harder than it sounds. Some of the positions look a bit yoga-esque, but it's more doing movements - e.g. leg circles while in the position rather than just holding a stretch.
It's meant to give you a good "core" and long, lean muscles, although I can't vouch for that as I've only been doing it for a week or so. Oops, nearly forgot to post my exercise. This morning I ran 5k in 30 minutes. That's the first time I've ever done that on the treadmill, and the only other time I've broken 30 minutes is in Race for Life when I was pumped up by everyone else. I didn't stop there though, I carried on and did 20 minutes of hills at walking pace before I got off the treadmill. Then a bit of upper body weights but not much. As it's such a lovely night I might go for a stroll in the park later if I have the energy. |
Walked another couple of miles, just over if I'm being honest, all across rough ground and up hill and down dale.
|
40 minute walk and weight lifting today.
|
Did approximately 30 minutes of Tae-bo Basic Training today  I could'nt manage the whole :censored: thing :faint: I'd had enough
|
Yesterday I did my weights circuit (cute gym instructor with other nearly cute gym instructor were there exercising as well, using 25 kg weights and theres me with my girlie dumbbells, oh well) and swimming too. I went for a walk to the shops at lunch time, but SHOCK did NOT buy anything!!!!
|
Went KICKBOXING last night! Managed to smack the guy who broke my toe! Got him well and truly in the kisser! Then the instructor came over and said, "Keep your guard up John!" :lol3:
|
40 minutes of hard hills (walking) this morning, making it even harder by adding speed intervals in during the hill programme. Nasty!
|
I did 20 minutes on level 20 on the treadmill, 10 minutes stepper, and 10 minutes on cross trainer, and swum 30 lengths, popped into the gym at lunch and did treadmill and cross trainer
|
Done full body weights with my shiny new BARBELL! :hyper:
|
Only a 55 minute walk today.

I hope its only temporary!!!
Anyways, I upped all my upper body weights today, so I feel very virtuous, and I swum for fourty minutes to cool down after that. Cute gym instructor is on day off, and all the regulars were away, so it was very quiet and boring in the gym today :( |

I ran intervals for the first time today - ended up covering 6km in under 36 minutes which is easily my fastest time for that distance, by doing 5 minutes at normal speed, 1 minute fast and repeating 6 times. I then carried on on the treadmill and did 20 minutes of walking hill intervals (4 minutes hard, 1 minute dropping down to the level before and so on up to the hardest level) to "cool down" plus a bit of proper cool down to get to 68 minutes and 9.5k in total.
|
YP you rock! I need to start on my sprinting practice!
Did 2 Kickboxing classes last night. Was exhausted to start with - now I can barely move! Really pushed myself hard! The instructor kept saying well done, you worked really hard, well done for both classes. I'm thinking, "Well it'd be a bit of a waste of money if I turned up and DIDN'T get sweaty!" |
Today I did 40 minutes of hills on level 20 (fast-ish walking). I'm really proud of that because I was so tempted to do nothing at all because of horrible period pain cramps that kept on coming and going throughout the day. But hey, it didn't hurt any more walking than it did sitting down, so why not...
|
Nothing yesterday or the day before! :o I gave myself a break because I've been ill. But I feel better today so I'm going to lift weights and go for a 40 minute walk later.
|
Over an hour on the treadmill today. I was doing really well with a fastish run up to about 23 minutes (just under 4k) when I nudged the emergency stop. I find it hard to restart once I've stopped, so I then did 10 minutes walking level 20 hills, 20 minutes jogging level 5 hills and another 10 minutes walking level 20 hills to take it to just over an hour and somewhere between 8 and 9k.
Then some ball exercises. |
Wow Yp :faint: I thought i'd done alright until I saw what you've done
Oh Well :dunno: 20 mins Treadmill..15 mins Ab Bootcamp and 10 mins Free Weights :D |
:cheer: cat!
I've done sweet FA since Thurs and have been loving it! Actually we walked round most of Lille on Saturday but not at a very fast pace so it doesn't count! Today, well, erm... I got out of bed at 4pm. :o |
I swam for half an hour this evening, fairly gentle, but it was an achievement to get to the gym at all - driving home from Blackpool, I was going past the gym and had put my swimming stuff in my bag specifically so I could drop in. But coming home and resuming my relationship with my sofa was still so tempting...
|
I've had a busy weekend with exercise, been to the gym both days and had big walks as well, I am too tired now to even post in detail, and now its Monday morning and I am about to go again!!! Does this treadmill ever end???? Nope!
|
Did 30 mins or 2 miles or 2,500 steps walking around my new house (new to me that is, it's been here a couple of hundred years). Funny how whichever way I go I end up on an uphill slope!!!!!
Scenery is great, met the milk float, a horse and a cyclist and only one actual car! Might be tempted to do some boxercise tomorrow morning (may as well use the instructor certificate on myself if no-one else) Will definitely get the Ball book out and start work on that again! |
 Frus..4pm!!! :faint:
Yesterday I took the day off..don't think I could have done much anyway cos boy does that Ab Bootcamp ever work  my whole mid section and sides feel it :strong: today i'm going to start following Billy's plan so I start with basic training :stress: think its an hour too  doubt i'll manage it all :dunno: Mmm i'm not sure about this because it says here that I only start using Ab Bootcamp on the third week :rollpin: and so far its my favourite  ( :sssh: and only 30 mins long ;) ) Reet..i'll have a do and get back to you  |
10.5k on the treadmill this morning in 70 minutes. The first 5k was really fast, the rest of it was me hanging on for dear life trying to keep up. I was really pleased with that though, I've not done the full distance for a while and was worrying that I'd find it really difficult to get back into it, and I must have burned tons of calories - I was absolutely soaked with sweat by the time I finished.
|
:yikes: :faint: OMG :fr: Well Done YP :bravo:
I managed 30mins basic taebo :stress: and 45mins :tread: now its time for lunch :hun: |
Did full body weights yesterday. Didn't really fel "up4it" but I did it anyway, kinda gently! I'm not feeling it today which is good, because it's a kickboxing night! Woohoo!
|
Didn't walk this morning, spent 1.5 hours mooching around town and will do ball/band work later!
|
a quick 5k run this morning, then 3k of walking hills and a bit of exercise ball stuff.
