Yes!

My husband's keeping a stiff upper lip but I'm afraid my nationality is showing today. He's just e-mailed me and says everything's still okay over there. I guess the terrorists don't hate tennis after all (whew).

Yeah I don't think anything else will happen for a while, I reckon they like to take us all by surprise, when all our Police force is in Edinburgh! Half the met are there and loads from other police forces. SUCKERS! I mean really! It was kinda a strategic day to do it on, like if anything was going to happen, it would happen today cos of the G8. Not that I'm saying I would've expected it because who does. But you'd think they'd not deplete the forces quite so much!

True there used to be bombs or bomb scares all the time in London (and elsewhere) with the IRA etc. I hope none go off in other cities.

My thoughts are with everyone over there. Please update us to let us know you and yours are OK. Just goes to show that we should be focusing on the REAL war on terror! Hopefully the politicians will pay attention now. Stay safe!

I think the scariest thing about these terrorist attacks is not knowing what they have up their sleeves when they start an attack on a country. On Sept. 11, the scary thing was after the WTC buildings were hit, then the PENTAGON a while later...it's like...what's next? Were it not for that brave man on the 4th plane that overtook the terrorists on his plane, the White House was going to be next. After that, you had to sit in horror wondering if they had anymore planes aiming other US icons.

From what I've seen on the news, it looks like the London bombings started out in the subways and then went to a red double decker bus!! I'm so glad they didn't target Big Ben or the Royal palaces and abbeys, etc, etc, etc. These cretins need to be stopped!!

You know, it's ironic that the G8 Summit is all about the worlds leaders getting together to discuss poverty and famine in Africa...it's about helping people that are less fortunate than we are...and these subhumans take this opportunity to say, "Oh, but if you're not a Muslim, then you must die!" We're (meaning the leaders of the free world's largest countries) being generous and empathetic, trying to fix a big problem in the world and these terrorists need to be sure we don't forget that they're fighting a jihad against all non-Muslims and the free world as a whole. They won't be happy until every human in the world is either Muslim or dead. It's important to remember that they are not true Muslims, either. I used to live next door to a Muslim family and I don't claim to be an expert, I know that this family was the most caring, loving, neighborly, family orientated family I've met in a long time. I assume all true Muslim families are the same. These terrorists that are freaking out the world are Islamo Facist Extremists that have no regard for human life and need to be stopped. They are like ****s only instead of having a world filled with blue-eyed blond protestants, they want a world filled with Muslims only.

Anyhow...I'm getting off my soapbox now. I hate getting political because I almost always offend someone. But London is at the top of my list of places I'd like to visit someday and I just love Brits and Changing Rooms and BBC America and Monty Python and Handy Andy and the fact that these insects that did these bombings picking on people I consider my friends really torks me off. I'd like to take the Extreme Muslims and put them on a space barge and say, "There, now you have your own exclusive Extreme Muslim community. Leave Earth to us peaceful people." and send them off to Jupiter.

Okay...off to enjoy the rest of my day...

Horrible stuff. Fingers crossed that it's not as bad as it could have been. As far as I know no-one I know particularly well has been caught up on it (although I know a couple of people who seem to have been fairly near the bus - one on another bus about 100 metres away). And lots and lots of sympathy for anyone affected.

It's like being time warped back to the 80s when the IRA did their mainland attacks - everywhere you went in Birmingham (and London) there were coppers and bag-checks and surly women frisking you at every opportunity, but they didn't beat us then, and they won't beat us now, the bloody cowards!

My brother was slightly injured in one of the Birmingham pub bombings (glass in his face and torso) and didn't come home for four days, 'cos he was recuperating at his mate's house - my parents were frantic by the time he sauntered in! Typical thoughtless teenage boy, I guess - judging by the messages scrolling across on Sky News there's lots of families worrying at the moment. Call home, people!

Luckily my sister is fine - her train was at Waterloo when the first bomb went off, so her Red Cross training came in handy. I was supposed to be going to London tomorrow for a meeting, but I don't think I'll bother now...

i remember the 80's bag checks plymouth has a big naval base so we had massive security they had sandbag bunkers for the armed guards to hide in at the entrances to the base. we also have any army base and 3 marine units withing 10 miles of the city centre. the 80's were very secure but at the same time very scary cos we were always expecting it
