Newbe to Slimming World

Hi, I have just started the Slimming world diet. I would love to hear from peopel who are on this diet or have previously done it!i have about a stone and a half to loose! ;)

veggie 07-05-2005 08:10 AM

I lost 50 pounds on it last year then stopped it and put it all back on. It is a good plan to follow even though I can't quite stick to it at the moment myself. ;)

chunkycarole 07-06-2005 05:01 AM

Hi Angel
I'm on it too. The first couple of weeks I ate for Wales, and still lost weight. It's a bit complicated though, and I really miss my bread. I'm having a bad week this week, started off bad and gone down hill. I will be starting again on friday after my weigh in on thursday and hope we can keep in touch, I have loads of recipes I have'nt got around to trying yet, there's always one ingredient missing in the store cupboard. I'll keep you posted. Good luck.
Carole

angelinlove2003 07-06-2005 05:05 AM

chunkycarole 07-06-2005 08:15 AM

Hi Angel

Slimming world is a great plan, I do WW myself when I'm being good.. at the moment after a gain this past year, I'm maintaining, and need to lose again, I like being a LOSER :)

willbethin 07-06-2005 01:29 PM

wow, it said i havent been on here since may of 2003. well i guess since then, i have been diet hopping and losing and gaining and pretty much staying the same wt. at 5'3, i just turned 40 and am teetering between 190 and 200. right now i am 193. aphil, i dont know if you remember me, but you (and many others) were so supportive of me. i really did appreciate it, but i guess i just wasnt there mentally to do this. i thought i was. anyway i am ready to do it the old fashioned way , by counting calories and excercising and making healthy decisions on what and how much i am going to eat. i hope you will accept me back. i need alot of help, i hope people can be patient and supportive of me. i will try as much as i can to give that support back, it is just that i feel funny trying to give advice and support to people when i am so messed up with myself about losing wt and getting healthy. i am getting used to a whole new work schedule and am very happy with it. i just have to change things right now, which needed to be changed before and my job change and taking chances was a very big first step. i thought once i did that , that my weight problems would dissappear, but again i was wrong. i am still doing all the wrong things when it comes to food. everything else in my life is pretty good. really! i need to change now!!!!!!!!! i just turned 40 in april. and once again i thought i would get it together when my 40th birthday came around. i am at my wits end and really just want to look at the calories on things decide to eat it or not. i went on www. caloriescount.com and filled out the right information and it says i can eat 1565 a day, which is alot more then i thought i could have to lose wt. i am 5'3 and weigh 193 and excercise at least 3 days a week for 30 mins. i know that will increase, i will do it.

thanks in advance for hopefully letting me join again and really getting serious about in now!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome back willbethin :) Visit us more often... :)

willbethin 07-06-2005 02:54 PM

ah man! sorry, i tried this once, i am from the usa and someone i chatted with was kind enough to send me a book about this, cause it isnt in the usa. it is very tempting but kind of hard and would encourage me to eat to much when i wasnt hungry. that is my main problem. if a food is free i am gonna eat it even if i am not hungry. i am not gonna learn how to eat this way. i thank you for the support, but i am afraid i posted this in the wrong section. good luck to everyone who attempts to lose weight this way. i mean on a original day, i could eat so much pasta and potatos, it can be a godsend, but as far as the sins go , i wouldnt be able to control them. it is a great program and i wish i could do it. who knows if calorie counting doesnt do it for me, i may need to come here and get all the support i can get and try this again. thank you so much. i am gonna try to go to the doin it the old fashioned way board, counting calories and excercising.

angelinlove2003 07-08-2005 06:50 AM

Hi, just wondering how everyone is doing on the diet? Its day 5 for me today and im still really enjoying this diet- bit worried about weighing myself on monday tho as i have been eating so much!!will let you know how it goes ;)

veggie 07-08-2005 10:08 AM

Angel everyone worries about their first weigh in on sw, everyone thinks they won't lose as they have been eating so much! I hear it all the time. The reason I haven't been losing is I haven't been following the plan. I lost 3 stone on it last year it does work if you follow it. ;)

angelinlove2003 07-08-2005 11:56 AM

thanks for your words of wisdom!i will let you know on monday how i get on-good luck with your diet over the weekend ;)

willbethin 07-08-2005 10:55 PM

hi guys, angel. i would love to know how you do. i quit after the first 3 days, cause i thought i wouldnt lose any weight on it. i just love to eat and i thought this was the answer, then i thought i couldnt possible lose weight eating the free foods, cause i could eat all day on them. i quit cause i wanted to be able to eat "normal" portions of food. i have been calorie counting for 3 days and i am full after my final meal and allotted calories then 2 hrs later i am hungry.

i am not from the uk, so i dont know how many syns i am allowed to have, if i tell you my stats maybe you could tell me how many i can have?? i am 40 yrs old, i am 5'3 and weigh 193 .lbs. i excercise at least 3 times a week for 30 mins. i am trying to increase that though. maybe if i know how many syns i can have i will attempt to do this again. do you go to meetings?? this would help me alot, i thank you in advance. and good luck to you.

veggie 07-09-2005 09:40 AM

You are allowed 5 -15 syns a day whatever your weight and height. It is basically 100 - 300 extra cals a days on non free food.

willbethin 07-09-2005 09:48 AM

hi, thank you so much veggie. i am gonna attempt to do this,it is the weekend and it is really hard for me to stick to anything on the weekends as i love my alcholic drinks. i will try though. thanks so much. i will be posting on how i am doing and hopefully it will be something i can stick with. i do appreciate all and any advice anyone can give me.

veggie 07-09-2005 09:59 AM

Booze is my downfall I'd probably be thin if I didn't drink.

willbethin 07-09-2005 10:49 AM

me too, me too. lol it makes me crave junk food such as french fries or any take out food really. well we will see how today goes. i am going on the slimming world website. thanks.

willbethin 07-09-2005 04:46 PM

i hope everyone has success on this. before i get myself to deep into sw, i think i will just stick to counting calories. i really didnt give that much of a chance. thanks for the support.

angelinlove2003 07-10-2005 08:42 AM

Hi everyone, glad to hear you are going to give it ago. I havent weighed myself yet but i dont feel like i have put weight on!i have been eating for England and i can honestly say i have never once been hungrary. Im sure if we stick together we can do it and make it through the weekends when its very tempting to drink!! ;) Veggie do you have any idea how many syns are in a paket of Bachlor super noodles? I know that noodles are free but im not sure about the added sachet of flavouring?

Zeb 07-10-2005 09:36 AM

Hello Everyone  I'm also going to give SW another go. It was the most successful diet I have tried in the past. (I can't really blame it for the weight I added when i slipped off can I ? :?:

Angelainlove I think the Super Noodles are 3.5 for 100g boiled.
I live in Holland so have to guestimate a lot of foods. On good days I guess, then add at least 1 sin, on bad days it goes the other way ! Oh well,

Like most of us will have, I've read library shelves of books that say 'find out the reason behind your overeating' and, though I'm quite into naval gazing, I could never get even an inkling about that so had begun hoping it was a red herring and that I needn't find that out before shedding some flab.
So I decided to take another tack and have been reading a great book about Motivation that says the 3 main reasons people don't achieve their goals are: 1 Having other (hidden) goals that compete with stated goals, 2 wrong environment and self delusional strategies, eg having a cupboard full of kitkats or absolutely having to walk to the post office (where incidentally they also sell chocolate) then hoping your will power will see you through, it mostly wont - well mine wont. And 3rd poor tracking. So today I added a tracker to my signature and I'm not sure if it will motivate me or fill me with despair.
But I'll give it a go... :crossed:

veggie 07-10-2005 11:10 AM

Says in last years book super noodles are between 5.5 and 7 for a 100g pack (on a green day)

Zeb 07-10-2005 01:59 PM

Veggie, your info is definitely more up to date than mine.

Sorry if my answer was too optimistic Angelinlove2003

veggie 07-10-2005 02:07 PM

It's probably changed again this year I haven't bothered to buy the 2005 book. :p

Zeb 07-10-2005 02:15 PM

That's a new slant, have a selection of versions and chose the one with the best sins ! Yeah, I think I could learnt to live with that. Though it might defeat the object a tad ?

angelinlove2003 07-11-2005 10:30 AM

hi everyone, i weighed in 3lb lighter this morning which i feel isnt a bad loss! ;) anyone had a weigh in yet?

veggie 07-11-2005 10:42 AM

Well done Angel. :D

angelinlove2003 07-11-2005 12:10 PM

Well done veggie!i read your weekend post and you did really well!!thanks aswell for the info on the noodles i think i will try and stay clear of them now- as i was eating alot of them!! :( I really like them but im not going to risk failing at the diet because of them. Do you know if the noodles that you put in stir fries are free?the ones i picked up the other day were egg noodles stored in oil and when i read that it put me off!if not i will have to live without noodles :) Sorry to ask so many questions :o I think my book is an older one that yours and doesnt give me as much information. Congratulations again!!! ;)

veggie 07-11-2005 01:08 PM

I dunno have you looked on the members site? If you have the brand name you can search syns online or put the details off the packet into the syns calculator.

angelinlove2003 07-13-2005 04:02 AM

Hi, how is everyone doing this week?i struggled last night i was really craving chocotate and ice cream but i managed to sit down with my muller light yoghurt and convince myself that i didnt want all the nice chocolate and things!! :dizzy: Trying to resist weighting myself mid week but its hard as i think i have an addiction to the scales!

angelinlove2003 07-15-2005 05:12 AM

Hi all, Just wondering how everyone has done this week? ;)

chunkycarole 07-15-2005 02:22 PM

Hi Angel
I've lost 2lb over last 2 weeks. I'm delighted, because I have'nt been sticking to the diet much. I've been eating less, but drinking lager at night because of the hot weather, plus it makes me sleep.
I'm back on it with a vengance from Monday when I've been shopping at the weekend.
Only thing is there was a competion on with mullerlight, and after eating twelve in a week, I can't face one of them for a while. I'll be binning the three left in the fridge if anyone wants them. Hope your weeks going well.

Carole

veggie 07-15-2005 02:34 PM

I've been getting my Mam to save the muller tops probably have missed the entry date by now I forgot about the comp.

angelinlove2003 07-16-2005 08:58 AM

angelinlove2003 07-16-2005 09:39 AM

sorry i didnt see that :o
Well done!!! :hat:

veggie 07-16-2005 09:53 AM

Have you tried freezing mullers Angel? It's a summer tip from my group I've never done it myself (I don't eat mullers they aren't vegetarian) I just eat 40 cal ice blocks twice a day.

angelinlove2003 07-16-2005 10:24 AM

I did once but i forgot about the yoghurt and left it in the freezer over night- i was rock solid by the time i took it out! :joker: I may try again tho-but this time i wont forget it and stir it regularly!! ;)

willbethin 07-18-2005 12:36 PM
