Absolutely, MEN!!!! If I was your flatmate I would get up and help you!!!! Though I am no good with the teccy stuff. CGI said at the gym on Monday that I find the equipment more difficult than the exercise, and he is right!!!! I hate all that stuff, I would be quite happy just doing free weights, but then would be stuck in our tiny mirrored corner with tough guys in singlets with shaved heads and tattoos, or far worse, the pretty boy posers who spend more time admiring their buff bods than working them out!!!!!
|
Hang on a second... GU chocolate puddings???? Somebody has to tell me what these are and tell me where to find them!!!! lol
Frus I searched the Bupa sight and only like 4 jobs came up??? congrats on the project... I'm cracking up thinking about you and MOTH.. you two sound like a funny duo! Madam thanks for the suggestion... I might just do the average thing... Janey... excellent job on dinner! Your plan sounds quite reasonable. Good work. Speak sooon... I'm going to try and get some exercise in early! |
It's kykaree the BUPA chicki. If you want an application form I can get you one (that way I get an introduction bonus if you stay for 6 months, which I will then split with you, you'll need it by then coz you'll be a size 14 at least and want to buy brand new clothes!!!! The member services advisor positions aren't coming up on the website for some reason, but they are being advertised on Galaxy radio at the moment.
GU puddings can be found at Tesco and Sainsburys, they are NOT diet friendly, but I usually have a treat on a Sunday and have one of those. I'm really hot and sweaty, am diong some spring cleaning and just lugged a heap of diet unfriendly cookbooks to the charity shop on the bus, and whilst I was there I bought a little book case for £2.50, which also had to be dragged back on the bus. Just as well I am used to people laughing at me. |
Kyk have you tried the souffles? YUMMY! I bought some really nice Mackay's vanilla ice cream to have with them last time, and a strawberry!
The project is nearly finished! All the electronics work! All the plastic bits are glued and drying in my locker at the moment. I'm just transferring some files over from college (that I forgot to do yesterday) I have to finish a report and do some drawings. I was grinning about finishing all the hardware stuff around college just now, and everyone's like "why are you so happy?" haha! |
Well done Janey, you're a shining example of how it should be done :) by the way, you've made my mouth water, it sounds lovely (don't know if I could've been strong enough to resist the ice-cream though :T
|
LOL Frus  what is a moth? (man of the hour?) or a flying thing that you swat? and what is CAD? to me it means canadian moola  I feel like i'm talking (or you are he-he) a different language  I think you had a lucky escape from your ex ;) any man that tells you he doesn't like you big  or fat or anything like that just is'nt worth your time in my opinion :rollpin: the guy that lives next door told his first wife (who was skinny and fasted and ran up and down the driveway to keep thin) that if she ever got fat he would divorce her!! :yikes: he'd have been divorced in a flash if i'd been married to him  she ended up dying of cancer..poor thing.
I ended up with my "first love" we were engaged in out teens, separated :( both married other partners  had two kids each :D then met up again 12 years ago (about 21 years later!) and the rest is history  if only i'd remembered why we did'nt make it the first time :rollpin: i'd have saved myself some grief   Went to the quacks today and I have to have a load of tests :( my blood pressure is high :( and there was me thinking that it was good  I won't trust those machines in the shops anymore :dunno: I need an EKG plus a thyroid test, cholestrol test, diabetes test, pap smear, mammogram :faint: and a bunch of others but can't remember what they are  the doc thinks that after living in Canada for 11 years without any medical attention whatsoever that I need a "tune up" :lol3:  the only highlight of the day was the fact that she did'nt believe that i'm as old as I am :p and she thinks i'll last a while longer :yikes:  |
:tired: <---------- I looked in the mirror this morning and saw this! :yikes:
I've had 2 and a half hours sleep! Woooohoooo! I finished my project off though (am in the middle of properly finishing it off now..... ) I have until 4pm. If I finish soon I'm taking myself shopping to max out the credit card if I can take the 10 minute walk into town! Cat, MOTH is kyk's thing, Man Of The House! CAD is Computer Aided Design. Drawing stuff on the computer like 3D models and engineering drawings. Aye the ex, well he is SOOOOOO boring now! He works in a bank, YAWN (he did design engineering at Uni) and I bet he's fat now anyway! He was lardy before I met him, then he slimmed down, but I'm sure married life will have made him pack on the lbs! I bet his wife's a MINGER too! Oooooh it's soooooo  but it's fun! I keep telling myself I'm in love with Chris version 2000, not Chris version 2005! BLIMEY Cat about you and your 1st love, you mad pair! I think those US & Canadian Docs just do all the tests they can think of to get the cash from the insurers. I've eaten 3/4 pack of Maryland cookies this morning :o I didn't think I could still do that without throwing up! I will have to do some POWER SHOPPING to burn them off! :lol3: |
Kyk
Thanks for the GU pudding tip... Da*N, I thought they would be on plan!!! lol... in that vein though... a couple weeks ago I had those chocolate WW puddings that get heated in the mircorwave... very chocolatey, not as sweet as you would expect, but after cutting most sugar from one's diet, it was like a goody bag from heaven!!! Um, about Bupa... the hrs for that job are 8am - 8 pm M-F and 8 am - 6 pm on SATURDAYS???!!!! Is that a typo? Or do they mean 40 hrs within these times? That's scary... they should just invite applicants to bring a sleeping bag! Frus... um 2.5 hrs of sleep? I used to do that stuff during my student days but it usually resulted in sleeping for 3 days once the high was over... waking up and eating all those missed meals in the caf with friends, bragging about my insomnia and narcolepsy spasms... lol Anyway, live it up... in a few years you'll be asking yourself how the **** you managed to do that!!! Have a great day girls! |
 LOL Frus I was close with MOTH but i'd have never have got CAD :yikes:
Actually i'm glad that she is doing all those tests because I can honestly say that i've rarely seen a doctor in my life  I've always avoided mammograms and smear tests :( like the plague  so i'm seriously due for a overhaul. I think i'm just looking for the "all clear" then I can stop thinking the worst about the pains that I get :) btw, what does the GU stand for in that pudding :?:  |
Hello everyone
Lovely morning here in Telford - warm and sunny, still windy, but the wind's not as cold as it has been over the last couple of days. How British is that, starting a message with a weather report!! :^: Frus, just wait till you're an old lady like me (41  ) a couple of weeks ago had a big family get-together and my sister, brother & I stayed up till about 2:30 talking but I still woke up around 8:00 next morning, but just having about 5½ hours sleep killed me, it took me days (no kidding) to recover - aah the energy of youth, tis but a distant memory :p Anyway, well done on your project, you've worked really hard by the sound of it - what is it for, what qualification are you working towards? If you don't mind me asking! I've seen those Gu puds in Sainsbury's, never bought one though, I put weight on just looking at them! Have you seen the ads for the new Haagen Dazs ice-cream, sort of a wafer, with ice-cream and caramel and chocolate, :hun: oooooooh, want, want, want. Hubby just went down to Homebase, which is next to Tesco and he went and looked for them for me, but Tesco (yah, boo) don't have them :rollpin: Been cycling this morning, and this afternoon we're off to Hawkstone Park, which is an amazing place. It's more than a park, having hills, valley, woods, cliffs, caves and wonderful follies built and dotted around the park, so you climb a hill and come across a statue of King Arthur, or a tower, where you can climb up and see for miles and miles. Parts of it were used when the BBC filmed "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe" a few years ago. Haven't been for ages and so thought it'd be a nice way of putting some exercise in and having a good family afternoon as well, will probably manage to find the time to visit the coffee shop though ;) :coffee2: and yes a cake may enter into the equation! Have a good day everyone x :D |
I did PM you about the hours Biggirl, but what they mean is the contract states you are to work shifts BETWEEN the hours of 8 - 8, no wonder they are not getting enough applicants!!!!! LOL they all think they will be working down the mineshafts in outer Siberia. The centre is only open til 1 on Saturdays now. The one is Staines, down south, is open til 6 still. If you work a Saturday you get either paid over time, or you take time back during the week.
We even get an hour for lunch in the sponsored cafeteria, except YOU won't because you will be in the gym with me!!!! LOL Enough about work, I went to a tapas restaurant with friends last night, and I was a reasonably good girl, nothing deep fried, stayed away from the cheese, but I did have tiramisu for dessert! And it was lovely. Had one glass of wine and a horrible reaction to the sulphides in it, I went all hot, red and swollen around the face and neck, so stuck to water for the rest of the night :( |
KYK, thanks for the info!!!!
Dotty, that park sounds awesome!!! 'Speak' soon girls, we are taking MIL shopping and have got to get ready... enjoy the rest of the weekend!! |
Oh my the sleep loss is catching up with me :tired:
On Friday MOTH had the cheek to be all HUFFY with me, I wasn't quite sure what about :dunno: but he really upset me and I'd only had 2 1/2 hours sleep! What a meanie! Anyways, I was at WORK till 12 midnight on Friday! OH MY! I just about made it without falling asleep, however my slurred speech was noted! So to make up for being a meanie, MOTH took me shopping in Bluewater! I had to buy a suit for an interview on Monday! Grrrrrr I hate not being able to find things, I'd already trekked all round town Fri afternoon and found NOTHING! However, did manage to find nice suit in New Look for cheap. I was thinking of going all posh but then I was thinking, "I want to lose another stone, it's be too small soon!" So I just bought the cheapie, which is nice enough! So we were up at 9am on Sat for shopping! By 6pm I was feeling sick from lack of sleep and the like! Slept on the train home, got home at half 8 fell into bed fully clothed, got covered up and slept like a little curled up log! Woke up at 11pm to get changed and didn't wake till 10am this morning! I've just had a 20 minute snooze now aswell! I'm still feeling a bit pooped! I am working for a BSc in Industrial Design Engineering at Brunel University (sorry I can't remember who asked!). It's nearly over! just 2 more exams, one on Wed, one on Fri (no revision for either yet due to shopping!). I'm going to tell you about my shopping! I bought a cream/beige linen suit with a brown t-shirty top with lacy neck and some turquise sandals (for my graduation do) from New Look. I got a lovely fuschia v neck skinny sweater from M&S, a bath bomb and a bubble bar from Lush, Athlete's new album and tons of luvverly food for dinner from ASDA! (brie, bread, seabrook crisps, gingerbread men.... OOOOOOOH gingerbread men!) I've got a chocolate brownie dessert sitting in the fridge, waiting to be 'counted in' for dinner! Oh I got a nice bracelet from Boots with points and I think that's about it! I must've tried on about 50 suit jackets though and when I'd finally bought a suit, I didn't have any energy left for pleasure shopping! I did get a Millie's choc and orange cookie, and some Ben & Jerry's oatmeal raisin cookie chunk ice cream! :T OK so now I'd better get on with some revision otherwise I'll never be able to go shopping again, cos I'll be on the dole! Keep up the good work! |
I've been fighting cravings all day but I've done really well and I'm very very proud of myself. In one of my danger places - rugby matches. (the other is with my mother, if she's cooking...). I hate the way all the food they sell at those places is so unhealthy. At some grounds they don't even sell bottled water, it's beer, soft drinks or tea and coffee. Of those the only one I actually drink is beer... So I usually end up with a pie and a pint. At home games it's not too bad because I've got a ticket for one of the lounges where they have a proper bar with all sorts of drinks, so I can get water or lime and soda. But at away games it's beer and a pie or nothing. Or nothing other than beer and a burger anyway. So today I decided to fight back. I took a huge bottle of water, a chicken, bean and veg stew thing I made last night and a bag of satsumas. So far so good, but the smell of pie still got me. Burgers don't appeal most of the time, but pie is another thing entirely. I've been going to rugby for over 10 years, eating pie at almost every game. And they smelled good. But I managed to grit my teeth and resist. Then on the way home it struck again, I was really hungry and wanted instant gratification rather than cooking something. By this point the gratification I was looking for was in chocolate form. I'm glad to say I gritted my teeth and I cooked. And not any old rubbish, no. Leek and quinoa risotto with a roast pepper salad. I'm feeling so proud of myself.
I've been wearing unbelievably baggy jeans all day. I can't believe how much baggier they are than the last time I wore them a few weeks ago. I was getting worried at one stage that they'd fall down. This is all good. Work tomorrow morning isn't good, on the other hand... |
WTG YP!
I've been saving myself for a chocolate brownie dessert all day (with chocolate sauce) that looked soooo goood on the packet and had sooooooo many calories in I thought I might just die! Then I had it and it was a great dissapointment! I could just taste the egg in it... that's not normal surely! I should've just had an omlette! then put some chocolate sauce on it! I feel CHEATED! HUMPH! |
Oh I've just put the news on :( Poor Kylie! Its even on the front of my local paper...I don't think she lives here. :dizzy:
|
A large shock for our Lylie, to be sure. Its bad enough having cancer without having the news splashed all over the media for everyone to see. Poor woman.
Its freezing here in Suffolk today although the sun has just begun to peek through the clouds. Doesn't seem to have warmed the place up any, though!!! :( May just have to put the central heating on for a few hours this evening.....brrrrrrrrrr.!! |
Poor li'l Kylie!
I'm crook meself today, been up all night with tummy bug, have only eaten 1 slice of toast with marmite and a packet of crisps... Should do the diet some good! Worst thing is I have an exam tomorrow and am trying to revise BIG TIME but I keep falling asleep! :stress: Am feeling marginally better than this morning, bless MOTH has been looking after me like a trouper! He's gone out to buy me some more paracetamol. |
Hope you're feeling better soon frus, there's still a lot of bugs going around. We're still getting children off with colds, coughs and sore throats in school, which is unusual, they're usually easing off by now & going down with other ailments instead!!
Poor Kylie, like Teel said, it must be even harder with everyone in the world knowing. I've been cold all day today, heating's off in school and it's freezing, I want to start wearing some lighter clothes, I'm still wrapped up in my winter layers (mind you, they do hide many a lump 'n' bump!!) |
Poor Kylie.
Not in the same league, but I've got a cold so I'm feeling grumpy. Or I was til I got the envelope telling me how much my firm intend to pay me this year. The first time I've ever been pleasantly surprised and got more than I expected :):):):) |
Are you talking about Kylie Mynogue? I saw something flash by on the 'ticker tape' on the news this morning but did'nt catch it :dunno: must look at the Sun online i'm sure its splashed all over the front page whatever it is
Its nearly 10pm and "him indoors" still has'nt put in an appearance :rollpin: he's down at his workshop watching telly and drinking beer  he's so inconsiderate I wish he'd just come up then I could make his tea and get to bed  or I could always NOT make his tea and just go to bed anyway  |
I know... Poor Kylie (AND poor Frus)!!! I hate to see gossip columnists talking about stars like they're a best friend or something. I feel bad for Kylie, but I think its worse that the gossip mongers won't leave her alone even during this terrible time!
Anyway, Frus... I hope you feel better soon... I always seemed to get sick around finals... AND my last set of Finals before graduation was a nightmare! I had muscle spasms in my neck and was on meds that made me fall into a deep sleep and sleepwalk!!! My friends and I are still laughing about my little adventures lol Anyway, drink plenty of liquids and GET SOME SLEEP! if you can... |
Well 3 exams down, 1 to go, and a VIVA tomorrow!
Got a phonecall today and I GOT THE JOB! The interview I went for on Monday! I must've impressed them cos they got back to be pretty quick! Now am relocating to Watford or somewhere near! Oh joy! He he! Feeling marginally better today, done nothing but sleep and revise! Exam this morning went a bit pants, as expected really! Am going to docs at 3pm to see what it's all about! I guess, "It's just a virus" will be the answer, but I have a funny tummy half the time anyway and this seems a bit different, so just getting it checked out! |
:cheer: Congrats Frus enjoy :chin: Watford!
|
:bravo: Go Frus! Go Frus! Go Frus!!! Congrats!
|
Everyone seen the sticky at the top of the forum? Channel 5 want us! :balloons: Thankfully not for The Farm :moo: :ink: I saw them inseminating turkeys on that the other night :o :o
|
:D
I've been to the doc's, guess what... "it's just a virus" :dz: Oooh I just found this The Rules of Eating Chocolate - If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly. - Chocolate covered raisins, cherries, orange slices & strawberries all count as fruit, so eat as many as you want. - The problem: How to get 2 pounds of chocolate home from the store in a hot car. The solution: Eat it in the parking lot. - Diet tip: Eat a chocolate bar before each meal. It'll take the edge off your appetite and you'll eat less. - If calories are an issue, store your chocolate on top of the fridge. Calories are afraid of heights, and they will jump out of the chocolate to protect themselves. - If I eat equal amounts of dark chocolate and white chocolate, is that a balanced diet? Don't they actually counteract each other? - Money talks. Chocolate sings. -Chocolate has many preservatives. Preservatives make you look younger. - Q: Why is there no such organization as Chocoholics Anonymous? A: Because no one wants to quit. - Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. - A nice box of chocolates can provide your total daily intake of calories in one place. Isn't that handy? - If you can't eat all your chocolate, it will keep in the freezer. But if you can't eat all your chocolate, what's wrong with you? |
Last night chocolate was calling me but the only choc about is a bar my sister brought back from Ireland for my other sister so I could hardly replace that. I've already had mine. :T :D
|
Oooooh! I e-mailed the channel 5 thing!
They've just rung me up! GO for it chickies, Fame awaits! They want a pic, I'd better find a horrid one! |
They won't want you :p they want fat people like ME. :fr:

Well done Frus, congrats on the job front :cp:
Hope you're feeling better soon x |
I've had pizza.......
Feeling better now! :D |
Ah, the magical healing properties of pizza - marvellous ;)
|
I had chocolate today. But I more than worked it off so I don't care. I've got a cold and it made me feel better. Or that's my excuse ;)
Congrats on the job! Hmm, to get in touch about the programme. Sounds interesting, but I'll probably decline. I'm just a publicity shy shrinking violet ;) |

Congratulations on the job Frus :cp:
I have'nt looked at the sticky yet but will do before I sign off ;) i've just had a pleasant surprise :D I have'nt been weighing  no point really as i've been drinking beer and eating chocolate all through the birthday celebrations (which usually lasts a few days   ) anyway, from weighing 172lbs last week at the docs i'm now 168.5lbs (on mine  ) DRESSED in the afternoon :yikes: don't know if its a fluke or what so i'll get weighed again NEKKED in the morning  |
