Review
As obesity and people's eating habits generally begin to dominate the news agenda, this series looks at those individuals whose current diet could lead them to an early grave. Nutritionist Dr Gillian McKeith offers advice to Yvonne, a 32-year-old woman who finds it difficult to eat in moderation and is becoming depressed and fatigued because of her excess weight.

Did anyone see this show last night? Wow - I can't believe that family ate that stuff. Even folks on a budget can do better than that. It seems like the woman helping them could have gotten her point across without all that poo talk. At least they liked the new foods and seemed like they would keep trying the better way of eating. Plus, they all lost weight during those eight weeks, even the kids.
Yes I saw it. It is amazing what they ate. I admit I am no angel and have eaten white bread when really skint but I do not like it. It makes me cross that the "value" food is always the rubbish stuff. However as you say, you can eat reasonably well on a budget. This was just laziness. Especially as the kids proved they were up for it. I thought there would be real problem getting them to taste the green soup, but no! I thought she was clever giving them the tofu burgers in the style of a macdonalds.
OK some people are squeamish about the poo stuff but I found it fascinating (ok I am obviously not getting out much!). As someone who really needs to sort their diet out I found it very helpful although if we are really honest, it is obvious what we SHOULD be eating as opposed to what we do eat.
i am on benefits and still provide my kids with fresh healthy food im lucky if my deep fat fryer gets used once a fortnight and as i shop at tescos there own brand wholemeal and brown bread is just as cheap as the white and there fruit and veg is so cheap

Sorry ladies to butt in (especially since I live in Cali) but I just got back from a visit to the UK and I was astounded how many meals you guys spend eating in (as opposed to restaurants and takeaways). My boyfriend and I eat almost every meal out. But after our trip (mostly in the Cotswolds, Whitney, Oxford and London) I was inspired to eat in more often. Sitting around the table having dinner is a pretty foreign concept to me.
