Exclamation Has anyone here any idea about after weightloss skin surgery on the NHS

undefined
I am a 25 y o female living in scotland who has gone from 282 lbs to 234lbs since middle Nov last year (6 months). I have been bulemic since I WAS 4 YEARS OLD. The thing is I never anticipated the excess skin. I have been told that due to the fact I have been overweigh since early childhood that my skin will not snap back. I want to hear from others who have either had or enquired about reconstructive/plastic surgery on the NHS (There is no way that i'd be able to afford it myself). If you have had it, how did you ask/request and if you were refused by your dr did you appeal of go further? I've only lost a portion of the weight I want to loose and already I have lost most of my breasts and the are so saggythat when I look at them I want to cry all the time (under my arms too). My legs rub and anything that I had resembling a butt is disappearing fast (I wish the hips it used to support would go with it!!!). So if you've any ideas please leave a reply. Also, any ideas on srech marks?

Thank you,

Alyson xxxx

I don't think anyone posting here at the mo has had surgery for loose skin there may be a lurker who has. Anyone any ideas? If you are still bulimic I would see your doc anyway they can refer you to other people for help with that. I know people on this site have had surgery but can't think of anyone in the UK who posts sorry.

Alyson, i know some of the ladies on LWL (ladies who lift) have had surgery but they are in the states don't know if they paid for it or what but they may be able to answer any other questions that you may have I read a story about a lady in England (one of those 'success' stories) who had it so it must be available.

the docs are morelikely to approve you if you have lost a lot of weight because youve avoided so many illnesses by losing weight they see it as an investment

A friend of mine has been approved for a tummy tuck, after losing a shed load of weight and having 3 kids all by C section, she told the doctor she didn't want nurses having to lift it up and clean under it when she was an old lady!!! (eeeeeeeeewwwwwwww) Well, that was the story she told me and it seems to have worked......she's on the Isle of Mull so it might depend on where you live.

I'm in Inverness, but I've no kids but i've only lost 50lbs and i'm still not sure what end weight I want to be (125lbs to 95lbs is right for my height, I am 5'2"), and I recon it will be the midde of next year before I'm anywhere near there. The skin is just hanging off my arms and I can move the flesh on my legs up and down them like they are big fleshy socks. I just Wanna know its not all in vain, loosing the weight. I have tried all over to find the legalities, and have heard of a few women who were turned down and took it to some appeal panel, but more than that i'm scared that i'm loosing all this weight to go from a prison of fat to a prison of skin.

I cant unfortunately post URLs because i am too new a member. But there is a forum called weight loss surgery info & support UK. I suggest you join them and enquire because there appear to be from looking at one of their old threads, several members trying to get treatment on the NHS for loose skin.
Its a wlsinfoorguk. you need to put in the . s
Hope that helps a little.

I would have thought that if anyone could get it you would be a good candidate given your age. But I dont know about it sorry.

I went to that site but I think its about people having surgery to help weight loss not after weight loss surgery. I requested wls but was refused, and i'm kinda glad now cause it feels good to have gotten so far by myself.

Thank you though, all of you (bu any more advice is still very welcome)
