Shad, I can't believe that you just wrote that british food is more flavourful than US food because it is the brunt of so many jokes over here especially by American Comics who say that we boil our vegetables to death and what a load of c**p it is i just love the food over there and enjoy going home to indulge in it but i have noticed changes frozen chips for one i think the days of peeling a spud are numbered also there are tons of burger joints appearing and it is getting more "americanised" by the minute, i recently watched a program from britain called fat camp where kids were sent by their parents to lose weight so i think it is starting to become a real problem over there mainly because kids get no exercise and sit in front of playstations and computers etc ( like me)

Maybe it is because I never ate in any of the fast food places. I just don't eat that stuff. But the restaurant meals I had particularly in Scotland were great and varied. No chips in any of them!!!! I certainly felt it had improved from 2000 to 2003. The breakfasts in most of the B & B's set you up for the entire day almost. I used to waddle away from the table and not need to eat until dinner time.

I remember venison in Devon and a fish (salmon I think) in a small place in Scotland that was to die for and not that expensive either. Maybe I just did not eat in the right places in Canada and US??

I think there is good and bad wherever you go Shad thats what annoys me when i hear people slagging off british grub because it certainly is'nt all bad and i've had some c**p over here too and in the states i'm glad you enjoyed your meals while you were there because there is nothing worse than paying good money for a meal and then walking out thinking "well, that was rubbish" thats the thing i love about Vegas we go to those buffets and if you don't like the first thing you try then you just go back for something else i once went and had scrambled eggs with bacon, the bacon was horrible and the eggs tasted artificial so i left that grabbed another plate and went back for roast beef dinner it was delicious

Aaah yes the 'All you can eat' Buffets. They have a lot to answer for, but are usually pretty good grub.

Here we seem to be into Mountain Cuisine - as in pile it up in a heap on the middle of the biggest plate you can find and dribble olive oil around the outside of the heap to make it look pretty and it also makes it look like you have more on the plate when they sprinkle chopped up parsley around the edges of the said huge plate.
