Talking It works!

Well!

I honestly didn't think it would work. I just got through training to be a weight management facilitator - don't you just luuuuuuurv that title? Anyway, the latest message is - wait for it - if you want to successfully lose weight don't diet!

The new black in weight loss is to forget the word 'diet' exists and to concentrate on 'managing' our weight. Well, they say we should aim to lose a single pound per week with a mix of physical activity and sensible eating. The focus is not on restricting what we eat but on having a second look at what we eat and making the teensiest adjustments.

So as a fat woman, 15 stone 2lb, but fit - I am an exercise instructor, I decided that whilst I was waiting for my first classes to fill up (it is run as a course, so it is not drop in like other clubs etc), I should really try it out. So I dusted off my old, any almost unused, pedometer, and aimed for an increase of 1000 stps per day to begin with. Then I decided that I didn't have to have a croissant for elevenses, fruit and/or a yoghurt would do!

AND NOW just 5 1/2 weeks later I weigh 14 stone 10 pounds. YIPPEE

Next week I get back into swimming to increase my exercise a little more. As I get fitter (I took on a full time job and stopped most of my classes earlier this year) I will continue to increase my activity levels. And as I get more confident I will begin to change some more of my eating habits. I think ready made creamy pasta dishes are next (darned Sainsbury's)

Anyway - I finally seem to have found a way that suits me - how do you do yours?

Hiya Steff

I also do slimming world combined with going the gym 4/5 times a week and taking my dog walking every day. I've lost 2 stone altogether since April and enjoying the gym again. I love the xskier to bits I imagine stamping on everybody who's ever said to me "have you seen a mirror today" or "are you wearing that for a bet" etc etc it motivates me to stamp harder!!!
