Lizzie - I totally get wut you are saying about all of nothing. I have that black or white mentality too. I don't understand why we do that. I can last years without chocolate, once a little piece is consumed I go mad! The best way for managing this is getting in touch with your inner self and find out why you binge in the first place. Binge eating is almost always due to emotional issues. I do it when I'm stressed/depressed or when I'm bored. Once I have realised that I've started working on it.
Gemma - Good on you for getting back on the horse! It is better than late than never. The key is not to rush it. We all wanna wake up skinny tomorrow but it is not how our bodies work. By taking it slow, you will get use to the lifestyle and it will be easier to maintain once you have reached your goal. I have come to realise that no advertised diet works in the long run. They are too demanding to follow so the best thing to do is to eat and cook healthy. Some people think that Salmon/nuts are bad cuz they are loaded with oil but that oil is very healthy and good for you. Exercise is also good. I do not believe in killing yourself at the gym everyday cuz you won't be able to maintain that forever (some people might be able to though! =D).
I hope my ranting makes sense and is helpful to someone! Hehehe, best of luck Gemma and all!
