Happy birthday for yesterday Stef That cake does sound amazing, but like your idea of feeding it to all the skinny people, hehe! It's my birthday at the end of the week and it's a big one so am going to have to try and accommodate cake at work plus a weekend of seeing family, bbq's (if the weather holds out) and the like. Not too worried though as going to try and be sensible, and after this week I don't think I have any obstacles until Christmas so can just get on with it.
Cat - glad to hear you got the painting done, by whatever means! It's a shame the sun has gone - it's been the same here, nothing but rain for days
Well I got weighed this morning and lost a pound. Am fairly pleased as didn't think I'd lose anything, partly because I had a big loss last week and also because I have done NO exercise - I pulled something in my shoulder on Tuesday (probably not helped by overdoing the weights at the gym last Sunday) so had to avoid the gym for a few days. A friend and I went to my folks in Wales for the weekend and had intended to do a fair bit of walking/hiking, but aside from a few dry hours on Saturday morning it poured down all weekend. instead we had to go to a pub and play pool!! I was driving though so was good and just had a diet coke Foodwise I stayed on track too apart from a small blip last night, so I suppose I deserve that loss, lol! As I say, I'm not expecting much for next week but will be good all week and start back at the gym, then try and be sensible over the weekend.
Hi Ladies er I mean Blodwen Looks like we're on our own for the mo Congrats on the weightloss Blodwen!! will be friday before I know my fate and like you Blodwen i'm not really doing much apart from getting chores done Oh a milestone birthday coming up eh? enjoy it hope your shoulder feels better for the big event got stuff to do make sandwiches for lunch, start dinner but just feel like falling asleep as had a lousy night last night Oh well, must carry on
Some facts that you must look into for a successful weight loss program are
a) water is good for all weight loss programs
b) rather than skip your breakfast, you would need balanced breakfast daily
c) some new medical techniques would test your gene to recommend basic diet and this has proved successful
d) diet alone can not do it, you must add daily exercise
LOL, you have to love spam - I know I shouldn't comment on rubbish like that but it really made me laugh. I work in a genetics lab and if there really is a diet that can be proven to work by your genes I'll eat my lab coat!!
Anyway, back on topic. Hi Cat (and anyone else who may be lurking). Sounds like you've had a busy week? I have too,a lthough I have to admit that even though my shoulder is better I haven't been to the gym once and haven't been great foodwise either. I think it's a combination of knowing I'll be way off track this weekend and thinking 'oh what the ****', and the colder darker nights making me want to close the curtains and not bother with the gym. DEFINITELY next week though, and as I said last time, nothing should stop me between then and Christmas
Anyway I am just about to leave work so bye for now!
Hi Blodwen,
Glad to hear that your shoulder is better just enjoy your birthday and get back to it on monday thats what i'd do
Well nice surprise this morning scale showed 188 but I like to get weighed later in the day when i'm at my heaviest (don't know why) so I'm going to call it 190lbs so thats 8lbs of flab gone if i'm really good all week I will make the 10lbs for this month will adjust my tracker
LOL i'm not even going to check that link out but I disagree with (d) I think diet alone will do it exercise helps things along. Well having a lazy friday morning (I don't work fridays ) but I must get showered and dressed sometime still lots to do.
Have a Fantastic Birthday Blodwen!! Enjoy yourself!!
Hi Ladies,
Congrats on all your hard work. I have been lurking and I have fallen off the wagon spectacularly! Eating rubbish with friends and not exercising for the past week and a half. I don't even want to know what the damage is on the scale!
I am sitting here now having just gorged myself on cake after a perfectly healthy tasty meal and you know what I didnt even enjoy that cake and I now feel like crap for sabotaging myself during the last couple of weeks. Somehow the lack of exercise has allowed my bad food habits to re-emerge. I just wanted to encourage you all to stick at it because falling off the wagon really isnt any fun at all. I am kinda disappointed that I havent taken any pleasure in the pizza, cake and chocolate i've had this week but hopefully I can use it as a sign that I can get back on track from right now! Good luck to you all

Let me add my loud guffaws!
a) Now, that definitely needs some explanation. I know how it can be true, but I wonder if this poster does?
b) did that actually make sense?? Or was it very badly cut and pasted?
c) Go on, I'll fall for it, how you gonna test my gene???
d) Mmhmm! Old wive's tale. Diet alone WILL do it! Exercise makes it more likely you will maintain the loss - that and it is a major sign of a much more healthy lifestyle!
I love daft sites so I followed the link. It is a blog full of info for weighgt loss. Some good some daft. The writer does not (yet) discriminate between science and vox pop funnies!
So I'd like to extend a welcome to newmanman, Hi hun. Stick around and add to your knowledge. Some of us are really quite knowledgeable - I didn't know Blodwen worked in a genetics lab!!
I have all sorts of certificates that say I am a health and exercise science expert..... so do as I say, not as I do
Losing weight is a hard thing to do and I would love to help you make your blog more definitive and any weight loss issues you may have more fun to dissipate!
LOL Stef thats funny! Did you feed all that wonderful cake to the skinnies?
Come on hopeful its not the end of the world we've all done it I just wish you'd stop lurking and start posting
Been so busy today laundry, cleaning, painting, cooking going to veg rest of the evening watch a movie or summat
Thanks for the birthday wishes - as expected I ate a lot (regret some of it but not the cupcake birthday cake I had, that was amazing!!). I haven't been weighed but suspect I have put on a good chunk of the 13lbs I'd lost, so really need to get back in to it and have started with a clean slate today. I'm feeling kind of pressured at the moment because I wanted to lose 100lbs (or as much of it as possible) before I get married next September, but it's only 11 months away now and I'm scared! I know it can be done- I've done it before myself- but I really don't want to be a fat bride so will do whatever I can to lose as much as I can!
Well done on the loss Cat, you're doing really well. Hopeful - Cat is right, we've all been there (I'm there right now!), and agree that lack of exercise leads to bad habits creeping it. Let's get back to it right now - we don't deserve to feel rubbish like this
Hi Blodwen,
Glad you enjoyed yourself I was looking at your stats. You're really tall are you sure you want to lose 100lbs? I think 140 is much to little for someone your height. I'm only small but the last time I weighed 140 I looked pretty damn good I think you should be looking more at 160-170 myself
I've been playing Gold's gym boxing on my wii talk about a workout. I can feel my abs have had a workout tonight. Did my body test and even my wii is giving me two thumbs up Stick with it Blodwen and hopeful like Blodwen says "we can do it!"
Cat - well done with the Wii-ing. I haven't been on mine for months (my excuse is that my house is up for sale so everything unnecessary has been packed away...) but should really get it out. Haven't tried any 'workout' games other than the first Wii Fit one though, are they any good? I got into Let's Dance before I packed it away so might get it out and have a go at the weekend
Re. weight - I can see what you're saying, and tbh I think I will see what I look like when I get there. Last time I lost a lot my goal was 156lbs (from around 200) and I remember when I got there I was pleased but thought I could do with losing some more, so I did. I ended up very skinny at around 115 for a while, then rebounded which is how I got where I am now I think I might aim for 168 and see how that looks (assuming I get there of course!! )
Anyway, after getting back on track yesterday I feel much better and more in control. Planning on going to the gym tonight (have avoided any aqua classes as OH has generously given me his cold) but we're both going to go and do a gentle workout to get back into it.
Hey everyone, thanks for your kind messages. I have been back on plan this week eating well but only managed one day at the gym (plus walking to and from work) like you said Blowden it feels so good being bck in control! Hope the exercise is something i can improve on!
Glad to hear you're feeling better Hopefulchick Must admit I haven't been to the gym as this cold has developed into a cough as well so haven't really felt like doing anything other than getting in from work, having tea and going to bed! Seem to be getting a bit better though so might try and go on Sunday, will see how I feel.
Hope everyone has a lovely weekend
(is there anything cooler than dancing broccoli?! Love it!!)
Hi Ladies
I did it!! 188lbs this afternoon so that is my First 10lbs gone..Yaaay!
Hi Blodwen, hope you feel better soon colds can be so draining so know where you are coming from with not wanting to do anything
115lbs!! you must have been a stick insect I remember being that weight and a tight size 10 so can't imagine what you looked like at your height as for the Wii I highly recommend Gold's gym boxing the time goes by so fast 20 minutes on there feels like 10 whereas 20mins on my treadmill feels like whereabouts in North West are you? i'm originally from Preston
Hi hopeful glad to hear that you are getting back on track you can do it you know
Now where is that darn Stef hehe.
Have a GREAT Weekend!!
Well done Cat, 10lbs is fab! You're doing really well.
Thanks, am feeling quite a bit better although the cough is lingering. OH is out on the lash with his workmates tonight so I've been in bed watching TV since 7pm, ahhh
Yeah, 115, I was very thin. I probably looked worse as well because I am quite big boned (shoe size 9 etc) so was very bony. I was around an 8-10 I think which I thought was great at he time but obviously wasn't. It got to be a bit of an obsession so need to be careful because I suspect the tendency to be all or nothing is something that will always be with me but I'm being sensible this time
Anyway enough of that. I'm Originally from Ormskirk so know Preston fairly well; have lived in Liverpool for a few years now and planning on staying here. How long have you been in Canada?
Right, tis bedtime for me. Have a good weekend all
