well, the way I see it the losing weight bit is easy enough - you just have to go in to a different zone...its the keeping it off bit that's hard.
this is my third time losing about this much weight - so am very anxious about not letting it happen again!!

By the way can anybody tell me how I get a ticker at the bottom of my post like you do? I think it would be a nice little motivational tool for myself!

Hiya - I copied and pasted this from another place....but also you have to be signed up for 2 weeks, i think, and have 20 posts before you have access to do this...

Weight Trackers: If you would like to add a ticker to your signature, here's how to do it. Go to User CP in the purple tool bar above. On the left side choose Edit Signature. At the top of that page is where you follow the directions to make a ticker. It will walk you through the process. When you're finished making it, the code will appear. There are actually several codes visible, choose the one that says for use on 3FCs. Highlight it and then hit CTRL and the C key. Then go back to the original Edit Signature page. You can do this by hitting the BACK button several times. Then on that page, scroll down and you'll see a text box. Click your cursor into that box and then hit CTRL and the V key. The code that you copied should now be there. You can add a name or message in that box too if you want and that will become your "signature". When you're finished you'll need to scroll down just a bit further and hit Save Signature. Then you should be good to go.

I was nosying on this thread because I'm not an Irish chick myself, but I married into an Irish family and have kids with good Irish names: Aoife and Aidan, so I was interested to see where you're all from. My in-laws are in Roscommon: they were from Castlerea originally but now they've moved up the road to Ballinlough.

Anyway I know I'm off topic a bit but I was interested in what you said Ellie. I've never lost as much as you have but I lost 4 and a half stones before & put it all back on and more. A friend of mine lost a huge amount on Lighter Life and then put it all back on, and I looked up a lady who used to be on here and lost 14 and a half stones, taking over 2 years, and she put it all back on. I don't want to start feeling defeatist but it worries me that I'll put in all this effort now only to end up going the same way.

So; I was just wondering, do you have any thoughts on how you'll keep it off? Do you feel like your head's in a different place this time? I hope you don't mind me asking.

Hey Shell,

No, not at all.
I think you have to believe it will be 'different this time', when in the process of losing weight, otherwise you just couldn't do it but I think its the fear that's different for me this time, I think I've been a bit more blase about it in the past...as in, of course I won't put it on again, so why even worry too much about it. But, I have demonstrated to myself that I can and will put it all on again even after all the effort. So this time in particular that issue of keeping it off once achieved has been on my mind a lot more.
Also I'm a bit older now, and it is kind of my last chance to just be a thin person, ie meet a guy, start a family as a thin person, when previously it seemed like there was more time (a bit weird I know!!)

I am really looking forward in a weird way to the maintaining bit. you know actually trialling out what I can and can't eat calorie wise, and finding a balance that fits me.

In a kind of sabotagey way, though i've been slim(ish) about this weight now - i have never actually got all the way to goal. So, that has been a big thing in my mind this time. get to goal - Step 1. Start a new phase and maintain it - Phase 2.

Anyway, long ramble, and have lots more thought on the topic, happy to chat more on it again, but want't to watch telly now!!

Shell, on this, you got me thinking, so I started a new thread on the maintainers bit...

Good thinking Ellie. I typed you up a long response earlier then lost it all by accident. I'm not going to attempt to recreate it now on my phone so I'll have a go later.

Ha, and tayto.

Ah well keep at it...
one small piece of advice though...why not aim to maintain for the next 5 weeks or so, as it is really tough to lose weight over xmas etc.
I know that may sound a bit defeatist, but if your aim is maintenance, then no extra weight put on over xmas, and a clean slate in january, as well as not being disappointed in yourself, but pleased at having achieved the goal of staying same!
