hey hey the way i USED to eat could never be called normal sarah:o if it was id never have got this way..........but i am sorting it out

Sarah Ann 04-16-2002 10:23 AM

I never felt that way - even now I don't think I ate particularly badly or abnormally before I started dieting. Maybe just generally too much of the good things in life... cheese, pate, wine, olive oil, cream and butter in cooking - maybe a dessert two or three times a week.... I never really binged - just steadily ate too many calories every single day without enough exercise. I once worked out that on an average day I was getting through around 3,500 to 4,000 cals on a weekday with more at the weekends. Which sounds a lot, but it wasn't - not really.

I am one of those people counting calories and I have to admit I weigh and measure absolutely everything...I started off doing that and it just became a habit now it is just second nature...I thought that would have been one of the first things I stopped doing, it always was in the past and thats probably another of the reasons all my previous dieting attempts failed.

I'm also one of those lucky people that have had pretty good weightlosses throughout this journey so far....most of the time losing 2lbs + a week but on the odd occasion I have only lost a pound or stayed the same and that is very depressing when I still have so much to lose :(

I have had a pretty depressing week so far. After fridays weigh in...which was another disappointment...no loss to report, I should be thankful that there was no gain either but I wasn't....I realised that over the previous week I had drastically undereaten on my calorie allowance, caused mainly by not sitting down to plan my meals.....working extra hours and rushing off to the hospital to visit my dad. I was just so tired at night when I got home I usually went to bed early without my evening snack...also I didn't have any free time to get to the gym, so I had no exercise at all for the week.
Friday after I weighed in I decided I would have a total pig out and try to make up a few calories...that wasn't a good Idea, I suffered really bad indegestion after it and I was up all night with the pain...definitely not worth it.

Since then I have been weighing myself every day...yeah I know...I tell everyone else not to do that, but I just couldn't help myself and as a result I've just made myself feel worse.....every day the scale has said something different...some days its been the same as friday, sunday it was up by 9lbs and today it was up by 5lbs.....it just proves the point as to why it isn't a good idea to jump on them every day. I am trying not to take too much notice of it until my official weigh in this friday, but I can't help feeling a little bit depressed about it.
I did manage to get to the gym this morning before I went into work which made me feel a little bit better, at least I feel I have done something to help now. and I will definitely go again on thursday.

I am having my hair cut again on friday morning so I probably wont be able to go on friday, it really depends how long I am in the hairdressers. I told my hubby I was having my hair cut really short, but he was less than impressed whith that idea, he said he doesn't like my hair short, so now I have no idea what I am going to have done with it :(
I think I am probably feeling so depressed again this week because TOM is due again on monday, which could also be why my weight is fluctuating so much, I know that is more than likely what is causing my mood swings :)
Knowing the reason isn't really making me feel any better tho :)

sorry to be so down tonight girls...its just been one of those days :)

Well time to hit the sack its an early start in the morning again.

I should be getting ready for work but I just wanted to send a :) for Posy. You are an inspiration to me - keep it up, I am struggling right now and I look how far you've come and I know that we all can do it.

I'm feeling cr@p this week TOM is early and I haven't skipped any pills. Any chance that I could be menopausal at 31

Sarah Ann 04-17-2002 03:48 AM

{{{{{ BPB }}}}} TOM being early could be the dieting... it can affect just about everything.

At last!!

I have just got back from class and am really pleased - have lost 4lb!!! I seemed to have stayed still for weeks on end but now it seems to be moving at last.

The best bit is that i am now under 18stone!! it feels so good to have got below that mark but i know i have to be careful this week as, for some unknown reason, i always falter when i get just below 18 stone and end up gaining and going back up into the 18 stone somethings again!

I will stay below this time and will NEVER cross that border again!

Tracy :D :D :D :D :D

flumper 04-17-2002 07:14 AM

we will all take it in shifts to do border patrol for you ok, i quite fancy being a soldier  dont come near my border or else:lol:

Sarah Ann 04-17-2002 07:35 AM

4LBS!!!!! WELL DONE, TRACY!!!!!!!!!!!! (sigh... envy... )

I know what you mean - I always bob just above or just under the stones for weeks on end - somehow in between its not so bad. Just imagine that we are all sitting there watching every mouthful that you eat during this next week.... enough to put you off food for life!

tupperware queen 04-17-2002 07:50 AM

Jano 04-17-2002 11:47 AM

Hey Tracey - that is superb - R U doing SW???

Would you like to mail me some main meal ideas, that's what I got stuck on when I did that diet.

[email protected]

Thanks

Sarah Ann 04-17-2002 12:49 PM

Tracy - have you heard anything more about your training for your befriending?

Kim - DON'T DO IT! You'll just make yourself miserable and depressed (like I did a couple of weeks ago). How about.... weighing yourself once a day at the same time but only writing it down once a week? That works for me. My 'official' weigh in is first thing Monday morning but I do weigh myself every morning as well. (Bad - will turn in to Bridget Jones!! V. good!!)

Jan - I'm getting stuck in a rut with main meal ideas as well. I went through my phase of theming my food and I might start doing it again - at least it provided a bit of variety - right now I seem to have the same old things each week. I think it happens to most people - its easy to have the same things because you just have to look back and see what the calories/points/whatever were last time. BUT ITS STILL BORING....! (I feel like a six year old at the end of the summer holidays.... "I'm BOOOORED")

flumper 04-17-2002 01:28 PM

sarah unless i take the bull by the horns and go into a chemist and use there scales theres no chance ill be getting to weigh in b4 monday now ..........she will not budge and ive resorted to all tactics:?:

TracyLangford 04-17-2002 03:30 PM

Jano - will compile a list of main meal ideas and mail them to you.

Sarah - yes, i started training for the befriending scheme last week - Last week we had a talk on the role of social services in the fostering of children and the procedures that they legally have to follow. No session this week but start again next week.

I have a big manual that i have to read through as well before next week which i haven't even started yet!

Tracy
