  • Kaplods, as I have said numerous times in this thread (see posts 4, 16, and 37) if your diet works for you, wonderful. For some reason, several posters here are under the impression that I'm telling them they have to change their way of eating even though I have explicitly stated otherwise. But my comments (prior to the offensive launched by the pro-Atkins folks) were directed to the original poster in response to her question, not to them. And my answer remains unchanged.

I don't care what diet you follow, but if someone asks for my advice I (like the American Heart Association and other respected medical organizations) will not advocate for Atkins, and will encourage her to be cautious when considering it. I realize a lot of people here have a problem with that (evidenced by the snarky attitudes and cracks at my intelligence), but frankly I just don't care.
  • thankyou for this post I loved reading all the info
  • Health wise I found Atkins to be good. I ate more veggies than ever before on the diet. The diet was good for about 2 weeks but then I got severe cravings, at first I stuck to the diet, ate some bacon etc. Then I started bingeing about once a week. On Atkins I ate way too many calories because I was trying to control my cravings and everyone said calories didn't matter. I was probably taking in about 2500 calories. If you don't crave sugar this diet would work for you otherwise I wouldn't recommend it at all. It's not sustainable.
