Weekly Weigh - 2nd Thread
Hello everyone
The last thread was getting over long and might lock soon - so I thought I would start a new one. I think we are all doing really well - and its lovely to have the companionship of everyone posting their weight changes each week - it really makes me feel I'm not so alone on this journey. ;) |
No "new" fat loss to report as yet, but nice avatar :D
|
weigh in report
Hi everyone
another good weigh in this week 3lbs lost :) hope everyone else has a good loss too Ali  |
not so good this week
1.5 on :( Janey  |
I don't think I will have lost anything this week. Not after my birthday bash at the the chinese, the meal I cooked last night and the one I'm doing tonight. I am starting SW on Wednesdat to see if they can help. I need to take more exercise, but I keep saying, tomorror, tomorrow!
OMG its raining cats & dogs here! and it is as dark as night - what a wonderful day |
Lousy day here too!! Another dark and dismal one. jano why don't you get yourself the SW magazine today and get yourself all fired up with it, there are some good articles in there, I read it at work yesterday:dizzy: :dizzy:
I think a change will probably do you good. i have tried their diet but couldn't get on with it but people at work are doing really well with it. All these diets work, we just have to stick to em, that's the problem.:D :D Sometimes it seems easy and others not so easy as lonfg as we stick together I am sure we can all get there eventually. I have found this site a great help, thanks everyone!! |
If it makes anybody feel any better I'm not doing great this week either. Went for an Indian on Wed, sausage supper on Thursday, chocolate, crisps & chewits last night. Had been worrying about a few things, but cleared the air last night / this morning with my best friend - we were talking until 3am, everything is sorted now & my stress has gone.
So unless I starve myself between now & next Tuesday don't think I will see a loss. I have been working out but eating complete rubbish. Stood on the scales last night - only usually weigh once a week but I had to know the damage & up until 3am this morning I had gained 2 pounds. So I have untile my official weigh in on Tuesday to do some damage limitation - I will not starve for anybody though - stupid way to try & lose weight. Janey - what is 1.5lbs between friends - we all gain some weeks - nobody is perfect. Carol |
Anyone else need to add their weight gains/losses for this last week?????????
I'm not looking forward to getting on the scales at all this week. I haven't cheated but I feel fatter........ |
I thought mine was missing but I think it is at the end of the last thread!!
|
Got myself SW mag yesterday but didn't get chance to read it until today. I can't see how this works, the things you can eat is astounding. I'm not weighing in this week as I am starting SW on Wednesday so I shall be posting week next Thursday morning (or Wed night) I cooked a meal last night for friends... that was mega.. I accept I have to make lots of changes and I hope the fact that it is new will help. I have just set up my WW Buddy so I shall be looking to see how active I am and hopefully increase it a litle each day. :(
|
Best of luck with SW Jano, it might really work for you. I am afraid I was just too greedy with the free foods on the various days:s: :s:
It was like a license to pig out for me, let us know what you think about it. 4 people I work with are doing it and they are really doing well. |
Janey don't worry about the 1.5lb I think mine's going to be the same. We're all in this together. I think this week I would have given up if it weren't for the fact that I can get on the computer and "talk" to you guys - as the tellytubbies say "BIG HUG" (can't you tell I've got a 2 year old?)

Hi everyone.... I have done all my sums - and I am really confused - maths was NEVER my strong point - but here goes....
Me: -2lbs Becky - haven't heard from since her first post so I will delete her weight from our grand total Carol: -1lb Debz: -4.5lbs Veggie: -1lb (well done Veggie) Phoebe: Hasn't posted this week Posy: -3lbs Delaney: -1lb Stef: Hasn't posted this week Topmonkey: Hasn't posted this week BFB: Hasn't posted this week. Jano: -1 Janey: +1.5 TQ: -4.5 Vivienne: -7 (Vivienne - could you tell us how much weight you want to lose in total - before you lost this wonderful 7lbs - so I can add it in to our grand total) I calculate that this week we have lost a total of 23.5lbs (with a grand total lost so far since 1st Jan of..... 61.5lbs!! And our grand total to lose has reduced to 50st 11lbs (but Vivienne's weight to lose has got to be added in) Well done EVERYONE!! |
Monday weigh in!
Down 2 pounds now 17 st 7. |
Can I just check something?
The weekly weight loss figure is quoted but not accumulated? Is the total loss of the group a cummulative figure? Just curious. Hopefully will have something to report (either way) this week. |
BFB - The 23.5lbs is the total that everyone posted as lost (or gained) this week. So each week I do a calculation that adds up the minus numbers and then deducts the plus numbers - OK - some people may have lost and regained and relost the same couple of pounds, but even so I add or deduct them on a weekly basis in accordance with everyone's posts.
The total lost so far of 61.5lbs is a grand total of the losses (or gains) that everyone has posted - since the first post on the other thread. If you have posted the same loss twice then it will have been added in twice - or if you haven't posted a loss then I won't have included it - mainly because I wouldn't have known about it....!! The grand total to lose is the total that everyone told me they wanted to lose - less Becky cos I haven't heard from her. But we need to add in Vivienne. 2lbs gone - WELL DONE VEGGIE!!!!!!! |
new girl!
Hi Im new here, thought I'd add my weight to the weigh in!
Current weight: 182 I'll post my weeks weight loss tommorow as I always weigh myself on Tuesdays. I wanna lose about 4/5 stone overall coz Im only 17 and 5'2/5'3 and want to weigh 8/9 stone not 13 stone! Would you say it was at all possible to lose 3/4 stone in 5 months?:?: Coz Im going on holiday with my mates on the 28th June! Aaaaaarrgh! :( |
Hello Chi Chi, i would just try to keep at it and lose what you can. It is good to have a goal and be focused but it is good to try for 1.5-2 lb per week. Best of luck, we are all here to help each other!!
|
Can some one please explain how I can lose 4lbs one week, but manage to gain 5lbs the following week?
I have no idea what is going on, but as you can well imagine, I am pretty cheesed off. |
It could be water retention in the lead up to TOM.
Why not keep a strict diet and exercise diary for a couple of weeks. At the end of that time if you can say, hand on heart, that you have regularly taken enough exercise and have eaten the correct number of calories for you every single day, then I would take my diary and go visit my doctor because it would be a physiological problem beyond your control. I had a real problem with exactly what you are describing when I was first put on to HRT - I was basically getting too much estrogen and it was really mucking up my entire body - I had bad water retention and could actually watch my fingers, toes and face puff up as each day progressed. My weight could vary between one day and the next by up to half a stone. Don't be disheartened - if you know that you stuck to your diet then it is fake fat and it will disappear very soon. |
I am not looking to make excuses - honest. I have kept a diary (there were a couple of slips, but not enough to warrant a 5lbs gain) and have looked back into last year's journal, and there were a few occasions where I had chinese and pizza in a week or totally lost the plot  and only had a slight gain.
Two things are niggling at me. Firstly ToM was six days early and shoud have started today and secondly when I put down the scale (Tanita) it was registering 4.5lbs before I even stepped on. I took out the batteries and replaced them before weighing. Not sure if this means anything, but I am sure you can all understand how I am feeling. It's times like these that you can endulge in self sabotage and eat for the world to console yourself. I'm not giving up, just a bit peed off. |
No - I didn't think you were looking to make excuses - not at all...! I'm sorry if you thought that, I certainly never meant it that way.
Dieting is the hardest thing we can do - so it is only natural to feel upset when you actually gain weight when you know you have been working so hard. It was probably the scales... my doctor and his nurse have got the same type of scales but I weigh 7-10lbs more on the doctor's set. The nurse's and my home ones register my weight as the same so I go by hers and mine. I think if I were you I would go and get myself weighed somewhere else (Boots the chemist have scales) or your doctor's nurse might oblige - and then you will know how far out your scales have been. PLEASE don't indulge in self sabotage - that won't achieve anything except to make you feel even more miserable about yourself. You know that you have lost weight - even if the scales don't show it. |
Sorry if I came across as saying/implying you thought I was making excuses. I meant I was not trying to make excuses for myself, it would be easy to fool everyone around me, but you can't kid yourself.
The thing is though, I don't look as if I have gained and an item that was previously tight, is comfortable. Having lost last week and worked fairly hard, even a loss of 1lb would have been nice. Suppose I will just have to stick at it and see the results hopefully next week. |
Looks like the scales might have been or are faulty then.
I was thinking about investing in some 'posh' ones (mine were £2.99 from the market) but perhaps I won't now.... My American diet buddy doesn't weigh herself at all - she is judging her weight loss by how her clothes feel and celebrates a milestone by when she goes down a dress size. So your item of clothing being loser is a good indication that you are doing all the right things. Well done - keep up the good work. |
I never, never trust digital scales they are too prone to being upset - I prefer and trust the ordinary ones
|
I normally weigh myself once a week, but the stress of the 5lb gain has made me step on the scales continuously.
Since this morning's post, I have managed to gain another 1.5lbs :?: I bought my scales from John Lewis at the end of November and they cost me £44  I think what I might do is just keep up the exercise and the journalling for a bit and not let the scale monster take over my life. |
BPB i really do not like those scales, we have had 3 sets they just do not seem to be reliable. We paid £60 plus ponds for ours a couple of years ago( the fat monitor ones where you programme different peoples details in etc) and had to keep taking tham back. the store we bought them from doesn't sell them anymore because they had so many complaints, I would go to Boots as someone else suggested.
Don't give up, the scales do not have any power, it is you that has the power to lose the weight and you can do that regardless of what they say this week. You know what kind of a week you have had forget what the scales said and carry on regardless;) |
VERY WELL SAID, TQ - WISE ADVICE FOR ALL OF US!!!
I hope you kept the receipt, BPB. I'd phone up and complain. I wouldn't have thought that the battery would have died by now anyhow, so it looks like they might be faulty. |
BPB Take those scales back. I had some and they cost loads too. Everytime I got off and on they weighed me differently. I think the digital ones are ok provided you never move them. They are so easy to upset. Mine now are Salter ones with a huge dial so that you can't miss your loss or gain. However, I think they weigh light, but that doesn't really bother me as long as the loss or gain is correct and you weigh the same every time you get off and on. :D
|
Well amazing I have dropped another pound this week, down to 15 stone 9lbs. Will need to look back to the old thread to find all my details.
Am busy chatting to BPB - feel free to pop in to MSN and join us Will find those details and post them tomorrow, when I am more awake Carol |
Hi guys
I stayed the same this week :( A wierd week for me with DH being away I ate more than usual but sensible foods so it could have been worse. Been to aerobics tonight and feel all motivated and ready to go again. Something nice happened to me today; I was at my friends, and she said I looked like I'd lost some weight - yippee. Also, my jeans feel really lose around the waist - dead chuffed. So Sarah that's 9lbs in total so far this year - not brilliant but not bad either. Keep up the good work guys - see you later. |
Brilliant
How lovely - what a brilliant feeling - I hope I feel like that soon, the sort of feeling you'd pay a fortune for. Well done!
|
I think there must definitely be something wrong with the scale. I tried to measure my BMI on it yesterday and it was registering a BMI of 47. Which I thought was incredibly high.
So this morning I entered the weight it registered me at on the WW site and my BMI is not 47. Gonna ring John Lewis today and see what they say about the scales. Hopefully they will take them back. |
Right hunted out all those stats - sorry but I just need to see it all here in black & white everyweek - gotta remember where I came from & where I am going
Starting weight - 16st 8lbs Current weight - 15st 9lbs Target weight - 10st 7lbs Loss/Gain this week - 1 Total loss so far - 13 Remainder to be lost - 5st 2lb Carol |
Just a quick question. I am assuming that the BMI indicator on the WW site is accurate???? Cause I have just weighed on my lovely  Tanita scales again and they have come up with a different BMI from this morning.
|
The WW BMI might be set a bit high - just tried it and mine came out at 37 where the doctor made it 35 before Christmas.
Either way I got to get it down. Carol |
Here's a link to a BMI calculator which is a bit more 'finely tuned' than the WW one... BUT IGNORE THE REST OF THE SITE... YUCK!!!
Click here Good idea, Carol - here's mine (Original start weight April 01: 16st 3lbs) Start Weight this time (02 Jan 02): 14st 10lbs Current Weight: 13st 13lbs Target Weight: 10st 7lbs Total lost since 02/01: 11lbs Remainder to be lost: 3st 6lbs Current BMI: 31 Loss this week: 2lbs I just checked my BMI - I am still 'obese' I have got to go down another 4 lbs to suddenly become 'slightly overweight'. :dizzy: ;) |
