Default New Fat Chick

hello...not sure if a 'thred' is the same as a post but can't find out how to post so here goes nothing...

so i'm a newbie on 3fc.been trying to lose weight for about a year without much success, and finding it increasingly difficult since all my friends are size 8-10 and can eat whatever they like without gaining a pound - how is that fair?! anyway, thought i might try the online thing and see if there are more understanding types out there.

at the moment i'm trying the whole 'just eating healthily' thing, controlling portion size and eating rabbit food but it's not shifting as much weight as i'd like. i've tried a few different treatments but without much success. i live in london (unfortunately the city where fast food is EVERYWHERE) and went to the body beautiful show last weekend hoping there might be some magic answers but needless to say, everyone there was tiny and gorgeous...it was more tattooed-on makeup than health based stuff. there were a couple of things about boot-camp courses - has anyone ever been on one? do they work? have to say, it's not my idea of a holiday but right now the whole healthy dieting thing isn't really working for me

hope you're all getting on better

Welcome Sai2007!

Most of us are either following something like Weight watchers and Slimming World or just cutting down. A few of us are even doing exercise I guess it is all down to healthy eating. Have you tried a gym or power walking? I see there was a club for ladies that power walked in the evenings!

It might be worth checking out posts (if you have been lurjking) see who has lost a lot of weight and how and may be see if it works for you. has the doctor given you any advice?

If you enjoy cooking maybe get a recipe book out of th elibrary - perhaps see if the GI/GL diet is good for you.

Howdy and welcome

I pretty much follow low GI even though I didn't set out to do it it is how I have ended up. It works well for me to eat wholefoods the majority of the time just because that way I know exactly what I am eating.

As a general rule I stay under 40 grams of fat a day and under 2000 calories (though more often it is closer to 1500). I got those guidelines because I am on Xenical but I think it would be healthy even without it.

I think in the last year and a bit that I have been doing this I have finally come to terms with the fact that there isn't a quick fix but a long road that leads to the reward.

Thanks for your kind words. I've looked into the diet clubs but i'm quite busy so don't think i could make meetings etc, but i'll keep my options open. Has anyone been on a boot-camp style weight loss thing? has it worked for you? people i know have suggested it...

Hello and welcome

I think the healthy eating way is good. It's a way I was adhering to until fairly recently. There isn't no quick fix it took me two years to shift over four stone and I'm struggling a bit at the moment. Tomorrow though is a fresh start for me.

Good luck

Michele
