Hi there. I am on X for the second time around, I lost almost 3stone the first time, but my thyroid bottomed out and I put it all back on (after stopping them) but now I have doubled dose of thyroid meds and another go at X. I have been taking them3 days and already lost about 3lbs. I just eat sensible low fat foods, and a lot of fruit. I wish you luck, and have a positive outlook, that always helps too (oh! and excercise.... eeeww) I have a stepper. kills me!! but it's worth it.

I can't believe it's been five months since I last posted. I think I lasted about 48 hours last time. :o I have purchased some Xenical and am determinded to work with it this time. I had some success in 2006 where I lost 14lbs in about 6-8 weeks. I'm still going to have surgery but I would like to lose as much as I can between now and then and also hope I will learn to eat better which I will have to do in preparation for surgery.

Is anyone still taking Xen?

I'm still on it and will reach my 1st anniversary next week, so a good time to reflect on what I have acheived. In the last year I've lost 67lb which added to the 23lb I'd lost in the 3 months before I started taking Xenical, brings me to a total of 90lbs lost. I've never regretted taking the Xenical and will stop when I've lost another 30lb.

Wow, that's excellent. What would be a typical day's eating for you then? Do you go to a gym? Has your weightloss been consistant, or has there been plauteaus? Sorry for all the questions I am just curious. :D

I eat around 1400-1500 calories a day. A typical meal plan would be something like this:

Breakfast: Fruit and yogurt smoothie (approx 200 cals)
Snack: Cereal bar or dried fruit like prunes(120 cals)
Lunch: Greek salad with low fat feta and dressing (230 cals)
(I sometimes do Slimfast if I don't have time to prepare a meal or I'm out)
Snack: Banana (100 cals)
Dinner: whatever I'm cooking so it could be spaghetti bolognese, lean meat/veg stir fry, roast meat and veg, fish etc (600 ish calories and no more than 20g of fat)
Dessert: Low fat Greek yogurt and summer berries (150 cals)

As you can see I eat the bulk of my calories in the evening as it suits me to have at least one large meal a day.

I've not had any real plateaus and am still losing 5-6lbs per month. However it does not come off in nice 1 or 2 lbs a week as I'll often have 2 or 3 weeks with no loss at all then 3 or 4 lbs will come off. In the past this is where I would have given up but I now know that if I stick to it I'll lose.

No gym I'm afraid. I walk a fair bit and get some swimming in but that's about it wrt exercise.

HTH
