Cheers Antari,
Just realised we have practically the same amount to lose! How long have you been on slimming world. I'm just starting my 4th week (but did 6 weeks previously on Lipotrim). I guess we've got a long road ahead - quite a few months - but it's lovely at the moment cos loads of people are noticing the change in me and commenting on it - it's such a great incentive :D

By the way - do you (or anyone else on 3FC) know of anything not toooooo bad syn-wise that I can eat at a Chinese restaurant. I am being taken out by work for a pre-wedding lunch :) but unfortunately they chose one of the few places where I won't be able to get a salad or a jacket spud :( Any ideas??? ff x

Newbie

Hi all came across this website and think this thread is fab :carrot: I've been going to Slimming world 13 weeks and I've lost 2stone 13lbs. Weigh in night for me is a Wednesday and I'm sooooooo determine to loose that 1lb next week to reach my 3 stone:dz:. I advise people to stay to the talk and take tips off of other members. I've a long way to go yet but with the help and support from other memebers at my SW group and here I'm sure I will get there in the end.

Keep up the good work with the messages on here :bravo:

When you go to your SW meeting have a look they may have the leaflet there if not have you tried the website I will have a nose around the junk in my house in the mean time to see if I can find it!! I would thing at a guess....Rice and Noodles on a green day would be ya best bet but thats me guessing. I'd save up me syns and scoff me face if it was me LOL

Hi Minniemo! Good luck on that pound next week :) I'm sure you'll do it!

Fighting flab and Antari, they're great losses, I wish you'd lose a few for me ;)

I just had a look on the Body Optimise (SW) site and they suggested that if you're going for a chinese, to make sure you're on a green day (which is fairly obvious really!) and fill up on boiled rice and a sauce that is full of vegetables. I'd probably go for something like Special vegetables with cashew nuts (yummy) because if you've been good with your Healthy Extras all day, then you can count some of the nuts in that. That way, it's really just the sauce you have to worry about.

If you're going for a starter, then maybe one of the soups would be a good option. They're thickened with egg which is free of course, but I'm not sure how the other ingredients are cooked. :)

Hi fighting flab

Been on Slimming World for 9 weeks now, losing weight slowly but steadily. Mind you, at this rate it will take me a whole year to get down to target! :dizzy:

As everyone else says they do have a book at the classes that lets you know which is the best meal to go for when dining out. I don't go out for meals very often but have to be honest.........I am totally fed up with jacket spud, beans and salad, so maybe I should have a look at this book too!

Keep up the good work! xx

Thanks to Minniemoo, Bits & Antari

Hi Minniemoo,
A belated welcome to 3FC  You've had terrific weight loss and I'm sure you'll make your 3 stone milestone by next weigh in. I like staying to listen to the talk too - I enjoy hearing how much people have lost and getting ideas from what they are eating.

Hi Bits,
I love the idea of the special vegetables with cashew nuts - sounds wonderful - mmmmmmm :T  I'll have a little look on the SW site and see if I can find any info re Chinese food. Cheers!

Hi Antari,
All the magazines and diet "experts" say a slow and steady weight loss is much healthier for you and you are more likely to keep the weight off. I took the speedier route for the first 6 weeks simply because of my wedding looming and I looked like a sack of spuds :( looking much better now :)

I know what you mean about getting fed up eating the same things. Are you a vegetarian/vegan? Do you always do green days? If not, I will share a couple of meal ideas with you. I love poached egg on toast (but I try to limit myself to 2-3 eggs per week max despite SW saying they're free). I tried a tin of Princes liver and onion gravey (free on Original - but I know not everyone likes liver) - it was lovely and the gravey was fab. I poured the gravey over a plate of broccoli and cauliflower - yum - but any veg would do of course. Tonight I had one of my Original favourites - wholewheat pasta (healthy extra b), salmon fillet & plenty of prawns (free), 28g olives (1.5 syns), and 73.5g Homepride white wine & cream sauce (3 syns). I add just a drop of boiling water to the mixture when it's nearly done to thin the sauce a little and make it go a little further (hey  I've just thought - may be a couple of spoonfulls of fromage frais would be better - I might try that next Friday). That's my Friday night treat meal and at only 4.5 syns - that's a healthy treat :)

Thanks to you all re the SW eating out book - didn't know about that - I'll have a look next Tuesday. I'll definitely make it a green day - it would be good if I could check out the menu before so I could make some wise decisions but I've looked on the web and it's not there - oh well - I am now armed with a few suggestions and hopefully the book will give me a few more so I shouldn't have too much trouble.

Thanks so much for your suggestions - I love this site :D
Oops - sorry for the mammoth post :o
Love ff x

Another red recipe

Ooooh I just thought of another red recipe that I've enjoyed in the last few weeks - either pork cut into strips, or chicken, or quorn pieces, or fish/prawns stir fried in a little fry light with mixed peppers and onions. You can do loads and it's comletely syn free :D :carrot: :D love ff x

Minniemoo 04-20-2007 04:14 PM

gr8 brekkie/evening snack!!!

my favourite supersize breakfast at the moment is plain couscous (pour boiling water over it and wait for it to expand in about 3 mins), spread it out over a dinner plate, top with 1/2 box of the defrosted raspberries (can be done in the microwave also in about 3 mins) or fresh, (you can do these with other fruits aswell tnoight i had it with banana) add sweetener. The next topping is fat-free fromage frais (again sweetener) and 1/2 or 1 whole pot of Müllerlight vanilla yoghurt. A completely free meal on Green without using up any healthy extras!
I've just had this and I'm stuffed :cb:
It really is yummy:)
Thank you all for your welcomes etc

FF - I love mammoth posts, they're great to read! :D Minniemoo, that breakfast sounds lovely! Has anyone tried the SW icecream yet? I keep meaning to get around to having a go but haven't done yet!

I had a good week this week, I was only away for 2 nights which really helps, and I lost 2lbs!

Antari 04-21-2007 12:31 PM

Oooooooh bits...........a stone...........clever girl!

Fighting flab, yes I am a vegetarian that doesn't eat eggs or drink milk and the only cheese (if you can call it cheese) I have are the Laughing Cow triangles and that is only because I can't have any spread on my bread so I have a couple of those instead. Hence I always have green days. I do occasionally have Quorn as you can't distinguish the eggs in that :p

My favourite snack/dessert at the moment is frozed fruit covered in fromage frais and mixed up together, left until the fromage frais has slightly frozen on the fruit and eaten...........it tastes like very fruity ice cream (well it does to me :D ) I don't have sweeteners as I have a thing about aspartame being really bad for you.

Hi Antari,
I use the LC triangles instead of marge too :) I lurve the idea of frozen fruit with fromage frais...I'll definitely be trying that. I read somewhere that you can freeze any flavoured very low fat yoghurts and they become a free icecream so I'll be trying that too - I fancy a muller light mandarin icecream :D :D :D love ff x

Antari 04-24-2007 12:09 PM
