  • You never know Bryden, might not be as bad as you expect....weightloss is full of surprises (as I seen with my last WI). So all fingers crossed for tomorrow. I really dont' know if I've lost this week, I should have, but well, my predictions are usually way off lol. As long as I haven't gained I'm quiet happy.

Regarding the red and the green days. I find that it helps if you alternate between them. I tend to stick to green more, because I just looooove pasta, rice and potatoes, but I do force myself to get creative and have red days as well. My TL told me the other week to try and cut out bread or pasta for wa week, which I did last week, didnt have any pasta and only a few pita breads during the week and I've lost 4lb. This week I've tried to go without potatoes (but had WW chips yesterday), and still have only had little bread...so I'll see how that goes. It's amazing what you are able to do if you put your mind to it.......A few months ago I could not have lived with my daily bread. Now I see it as a wee treat...

Oh and here is the curried mice...eerrrr mince recipe:
    1lb mince
    1 large chopped onion
    2 cloves garlic
2 tblsp tomato sauce - 2 syns (or use passata free)
    1 tsp curry powder
    1 tsp ground ginger
    1/2 tsp ceyenne pepper
    1 tblsp brown sugar - 3 syns
    1/2 tsp salt

Brown the mince, add ingredients, leave to simmer

Asked my TL to use sweetener instead and she said she tried it and it wasn't as nice. Seen brown sweetener the other day when I went shopping, so I might try it with that...have to say, the syns are well worth it....and you don't have it all in one go. I had it for lunch in a pita and put cheese over it and microwaved...yummm....and for dinner you can have it over a baked potato or with rice....so, u use 5 syns and two b choices during the day....and its lovely......I've added a little water to make it mor saucy....you might also try it with fromage frais to make it creamier......variations are endless lol....

Geez this is a long post....
  • Hi Girls,
I'm feeling pretty excited and happy, I looked in the mirror and I have stomach muscles above my tummy button. I can tense my stomach and the upper bit has shape and looks firm!!

I'm not worried about my weigh in this week to be honest I don't think I'll have lost, not because I've been naughty because I've been really good, but because I've been toning up lots and usually when I tone I don't lose. I don't mind though, I feel fitter and I know my body is beginning to take shape.

I mainly have green days to be honest, Saturday tends to be a red day with a nice cooked breakfast, and a chicken kebab (counted as syns of course). I occasionaly have mix2max days but like I say mainly it's green days, and I still lose. I find as long as I exercise I'm getting smaller I think it's all about finding the balance and finding what suits you best.
  • I maintained! Which is a relief!

Yeah, I prefer green days as I'm a pasta and potato fiend! I think I will have a red day today and a green tomorrow as I have bought all the kit to make sushi. It's soo easy to make!

    .
Thats awesome! I am soo happy for you!
  • Hello Chix!

Well I have gone and done it. Joined SW by post that is. Quite painless but we shall see. I had to guess what my weight was - I said 14st 9lb (I am hoping it is not more!!!!). I shall bring my scales in to work and weigh myself tomorrow. eeek!

Of course this means I have now got to be good

Well done to crazy helen for finding her stomach muscles. I don't believe I have any. I am just one big jelly! I don't care, come the works Christmas do I will be wearing my 'miracle suit' under my dress and they will think I have lost stones! I do hope it will allow me to breathe....
  • By the way - veggies can use quorn mince in moonchild's recipe or if you really have to - that awful TVp stuff or PVC as mum calls it....
  • Bryden, well done! Eventho u didnt lose anything, but the good thing is, you didn't gain....

Helen, oh good for you on the muscles....I know I have some too, cause they do hurt on a regular basis after the boxing, but they are still hidden under inches of fat....but they will be back, I'm sure of it lol....it's great that you are starting to feel happy with your body, thats the only thing that counts.

Peacock, well done on the joining...about time lol....quiet a challenge to start before xmas, but at least that means that you mean business.....so all the strenght for you.....

Well it's WI day for me today...I'm really hoping for the best....it would be great to have another loss this week. I'm on a bit of a high right now. Somebody viewed our flat yesterday and they are very intersted. Now we just have to get our higher mortgage sorted out and we can move to our new house before xmas!!!! Hopefully the bank will play, cause I'm a foreigner...thats the only thing that keeps me on edge right now....so keep your fingers crossed....have bank appoint booked for monday, but I'm trying to move it to today.......can't bare the wait.....
  • I didn't have time yesterday to tell you I'd lost 5 pounds over the last week, I was totally in shock. Haven't got time to make a big post now but wanted to let you know. How did your weigh in go?
  • Well I haven't received anything yet from the postal SW. I must bring my scales into work tomorrow as I should keep a note of how much I weigh!
  • Where is everyone I'm getting lonely here!
  • I am here! I could not get in earlier.

Well the SW lady rang me but my postal stuff had not arrived yet.

Anyway I am 93.8 kg - around 14st 11 ish which is down from when I last weighed myself whcih was 94.2kg whcih is around 14st 12 - but I was working from a 'ready reckoner' so have to guess it.

Anyway I was good today - had cereal for brekkie and tomoato soup for lunch. Am now starving! I have the rest of the nuclear quorn chilli and rive for dinner I think.
  • Nuclear quorn chilli sounds interesting!

I'm around the same weight as you which is good, nice to have somebody else to track progress with. I picked up a full copy of the Food Optimising Directory this weekend, it's great, really helpful, although I'm doing SW online I find that sometimes items are missing and the directory has them all in.

I'm off to aerobics tonight, I went to Bums and Tums last night and enjoyed it. Well done on the lose so far. I have TOM so I'm feeling a bit blah about my weigh in this week (Thursday).

So, how does the postal Slimming World work?
  • Well is was the rest of the paclket of arrabiata sauce but I could not taste any chilli so put in so dried flakes . However i forgot my nose was running and things don't taste so well then so I may have overdone it - put some garlic salt in as well!.

Postal SW? Dunno yet! I joined last Tuesday and have nto yet received anything but the lady rang me up and said it may be there today. I joined postally cos you get the magazine with it and some other bumpf - well hopefully! It is for 4 weeks so I presume I keep going after that.

Bums and tums is good isn't it? I meant to remind my friend to get a keep fit programme from the gym.

Hpefully can tell you more soon on how SW postal works or doesn't!
  • Hi
Am new here and wanted to introduce myself.

Struggled with weight issues all my life really but mainly because until recently I, and those around me, didn't know HOW to eat or diet healthy. At age 33 I was 15 stone 2 (213 pounds). Decided to get a grip. Lost about 20 pounds low carb but it wasn't really a sustainable lifestyle for me. Stalled a bit. A few pounds (but only a few to be fair ) crept on. Got taken off with some awful starvation diet that I won't dignify with a name in case someone is stupid enough to try it!

About 2 years ago one of my aunts lost a heck of a lot of weight, and told me about Slimming World. Signed up online, loved it, lost about 15 pounds. Have stalled majorly in the last six months, but there have been other things, including death in family. A couple of pounds crept back on, and I have decided, NO WAY, it was hard enough to get off, it is NOT getting back on!!!!

So am back in the saddle.

I like this eating plan, because it is the only one I have ever come across that I see as a possible LIFE plan – not just to lose the weight, but to keep it off and healthy forever.

But I am a little frustrated, and no weight loss is never going to be as fast as it was in the first few months. So I am taking Alli and hope to kick start and get my motivation back ....

sorry, haven't got to grips with the graphics and stuff. hope to add that soon.

    cheers all
  • Welcome aboard!!!

So glad you have found a sensible way of eating now. Of course we know it isn't rocket science - but sometimes we do need a helping hand. You usually lose a lot of weight in the first week or so and remember even if you lose only a pound or so that is a more sensible way of losing weight cos the food is healthier and then at Christmas if you do put on some weight it is not as daunting to start again cos you know you can do it. Plus, remember how much a bag of sugar weighs (i can't remember if it is 1 or 2 pounds cos I don't use it) pick it up - not lightweight is it - so if you lose that much one week you can feel proud and do a happy dance!

There are some good recipes online at SW if you can follow them.

Good luck and keep posting we love to hear from everyone. Oh and where are you from (I am nosey as well!).
