Easter Chicks Weigh In Thread - End of Week 3
Here we go again - weigh in day! :(
I managed to only lose one pound this week - its the last pound of the Christmas lard so I'm very happy to wave it goodbye. I must remember this post-Chrimbo struggle next year and be more careful about the festive cheese 'n' choccie (not together, of course!) I'm going back up to 1500 cals this week, I think its trying to exist on 1200 cals which is making me get attacks of the munchies in the evenings - something that never really bothered me when I ate more calories during the day. (Thats my excuse, anyway!!) If I were a diet teacher marking my diet school report I would put: 'Sarah has learned a lot about dieting and nutrition but doesn't put it in to practice. She must try harder'. How's everyone else doing diet and weight-wise - and what would your fictional diet teacher put on your diet school report??? :grouphug: |
I'll join you in announcing that the Christmas lard is now GONE. I'm down to 152.5, which is pretty much where I was in December.
I think my report would be along the lines of "Generally good and does enough. Knows she could try even harder but doesn't want to put the extra effort in". My eating is pretty good, but there are a couple of bad habits still there which I know about, and could dump, but because of my mileage at the moment I have some leeway to leave them untackled. I've got some nice milestones coming up now. If I get there. 150 is 110lb lost, 149 is into the 140s, and 148 is a nice round 8 stone. I'm not going to kill myself getting there, but it would be nice to see them tick by. |
hi, im now down to 209 lbs. i started this challenge at about 217. i have been very motivated, the only time i have been tempted was walking past a subway the other day - the smell of the bread was yum. luckily i didnt have any money on me. my main problem has been jumping on the scales too often. i find that there has been a 2 -3 lbs fluctuation which can be very disheartening. im going to try to stick to thursdays. mad

"School report"- must try harder... she knows what to do but isnt putting the effort it. |
Up 2.25lbs :tantrum:
I'm back up to 12stone 9lbs!!!!!   :crossed: that it's water retention from the antibiotics and not flard! I actually did my calliper reading's this morning and I'm 20% BF, which is a little lower than the last time I did them I think :chin: But I'm happy with 20% - maybe I've put some muscle on doing squats but I do feel a smidge flabby. So hoping it'll come back off next week and a little bit more too. I've eaten all the chocolate nearly but I've got the 'rents coming for the weekend. MUST NOT EAT OUT. MUST NOT EAT OUT. :tantrum: |
I never know when to post on this thread because the weigh day is Thursday and my official weigh day is a Monday :dizzy:.
Anyway, this Monday just gone I was down 2.4 lbs! I'm having my bi yearly meeting with my supervisor at the gym today to do measurements/body fat etc. so I'm hoping I will have good news to report tomorrow. Oops just looked at the clock, going to be late for work. |
My diet teacher would have wrapped me over the knuckles!!!
I scarfed down a whole pack of jaffa cakes yesterday. I always eat more in the cold weather. I am almost through a pack of rich tea biscuits while eating my freezing cold salad! Well the biccies do go so well with a cuppa. Why do I do it??! It was so cold yesterday at my AGM meeting I HAD to have a brandy! Never mind , off with the girls to Pizza Express tomorrow for some laughs. I bet I won't stick to salad then either! |
Diet teacher " Sandra is not even trying. She knows what she needs to do"
I'm up 5lbs :frypan: :kickbutt: Hopefully next week will be better. ps I'm going to a pot luck at lunchtime for a birthday. Will be careful. |
CG - Oh dear! BIG, BIG
Do you think it might be your medication? |
Quote:
I've been eating a lot the past week  :o |
CG - that's got to be water retention, or medication or something. You didn't sleepwalk into McDonalds and go mad did you?

Perhaps the medication is not out your system yet? I think these things take a while to go.
MY Diet Teacher would have to put me in detention. After yakking on about eating no milk chocolate (jaffa cakes don't count, anyway aren't they dark chocolate?) I then go and have a highlights bar and a flyte bar. Well they are marketed as low fat/low cal anyway. Back of the class with a dunce's cap on it for me. |
I too weigh in on a Monday and was down 3.1lbs this week. I don't hold out much hope for this week though. I'm a freelance cake designer and pastry chef and I've been exceptionally busy with work for the last few days, and it won't stop until Sunday. A shameful amount of fondant, buttercream and cake trimmings have wound up in my mouth - bad, bad, bad :-(.
|
I've been sent to the headmistress.

Oh my god CSI - I love buttercream! When I was very bad I would make up a small amount of buttercream in a cup and eat it! WOuld you believe I was so desperate I made some at work ...with a hard sugar cube - I ended up crunching it smaller with my teeth. Gross.
|
Is buttercream when you mix butter/marg and icing sugar together in to a paste and add in a bit of vanilla or other flavouring? If so then I  the coffee variety....
CSI well done for losing that 3.1lbs - especially under such difficult circumstances. :congrat: |
*Cough*
I've gained two. :o :o :o :o I've been overeating and drinking because of the cold. Any excuse! |
HI Easter challenge chickies  I forgot to get on the scales this morning... although I did have a sneak peak yesterday afternoon with clothes on and had eaten and it showed a gain.... :( But I'll do a nakid weigh tomorrow first thing and be extra good today.
 for all our gainers... back on track my women :kickbutt: if you need it too Big  for you losers this week, fabby job ladies... I am a busy bee today, I've been to curves, Hannah got sent home from school again by the nurse, I'm really starting to dislike that woman and now I am cleaning and rearranging stuff.... Good luck to all for another fun filled losing week.. my report card would say ' Christine is not working to her full potential, if she stopped eating and concentrated on what she was doing, she'd go far" |
I've lost 0.8 of a pound but I've squeaked into the 152 bracket so I got to change my tracker. I was disappointed as I'd had a practically perfect week.
My fictitious diet teacher would write: "Doughnut is very aptly named. She's round and squidgy and full of cr*p". :) |
1 pound off !
|
 haha CSI ... im joining you.. however have been  today !
|
1 off...for a grand total of 2 since the New Year.
My diet teacher would say, Lisa knows what she has to do and does half of it very well with exercise. However she completely ignores the other half of the equation and eats and drinks to excess far too often :) |
Yes Sarah- that is buttercream but whe I do a sneaky one at home just to eat out of a cup I use ordinary sugar - somehow that does not count?????!!!!!!!!!!! I love love love coffee buttercream.
|
My report from the teacher would be, "Carole is getting expelled for bunking off".
I have'nt been to RC this week, because my eating is so out of control at the moment I'm ashamed! It's horrible to say, but reading everyone else is having problems too, does make me feel a bit better. Carole |

Carole - I think we're all struggling at the moment. I dunno about everyone else... but the problem with me seems to be that I haven't got anything planned which gives me motivation. I found it reasonably easy to stay on plan in the lead up to Christmas but wanting to look good in skimpy summer clothes seem such a long way off.... |
Sarah! How very dare you mention that cake! It is my downfall!!!!!!!!!
|
Its the one I always used to have for my birthday cake when I was a kid. Nobody else in my house liked the walnuts... so after one slice they wouldn't have any more... all the more for me!!!! :T :T :T :T :T :T
And I was skinny as a rail when I was a kid! What went wrong...... |
 nakid blob on scales this morning show a GAIN of two pounds...it must have been the birthday cake and chinky that we had for Hannah's birthday, although most other days I was within points...oh well, into the third week of the Easter challenge and all I've done is show a gain, I'm telling ya girlies, if this challenge was to gain, I'd win face down... :)
|
i need to go swimming :-( but somthing i can look into seriously this week. I had such a fun productive week. College work has gone great, they gave me a £100 bonus for my good work and attendance which was great, but had the dinner party around my bed as part of my project and it was such bad food, and i got considerably drunk i think i counted about 3000 cals
my weight isnt going anywhere im eating about 1200-1300 a day which is less then normal to scare the weight off (apart from yesterday) and its getting annoying. any ideas what to do, do u think if i exercise apart from walking everyday it will start to shift? |
I'm dead chuffed today because I've lost another 3 lbs! :carrot: Not bad since I had a night and two days away, and had a delicious Cheese and bacon burger with potato wedges at the pub! :o
Am I too late to set an Easter target and start the challenge? If not, I would love to lose another 14lbs before Easter...think positive and all that! :D |
Bits - well done! I love it when you get a reward like 3 lbs but you still manage to have treats. OK, only happened to me once but I share your joy!
Hello Toys - don't think we've "met" before. If I were you (which I'm not so feel free to disregard this) I'd up your calories a bit - say to 1400-1500 a day but you've got to exercise more. I think if you're not exercising now then to do so on the same number of calories as you're having at the moment is just going to make you really tired - 1200 is quite low. Hopefully 2frustrated will check out this thread again - I've noticed from other forums that she's really good at this sort of thing. |
Will done Bits - :congrat: - its NEVER too late to join the Challenge. :welcome3:
Toys - I think Doughnut is right - you need to increase your cals to the equivalent of your BMR. If you have a look at www.fitday.com you can work out what your BMR is or, if you like, you could tell me how tall you are and your age - and I'll look it up in the chart at the back of my Rosemary Conley book. Its probably somewhere around 1500 to 1600 cals. I think what quite a lot of us do now is 'zig-zag' our calories - the theory is that, in time, your metabolism adjusts to function at the reduced amount of calories being eaten and when you zig zag this adjustment doesn't happen. Calories are worked out over the week rather than over the day - so some days have higher amounts and other days are lower. There's a zig zag calculator at the bottom of THIS page. I generally have my higher calorie days at the weekends and on DH's day off and my lowest calorie day on Wednesday before weighing myself on Thursday mornings. |
Oh good, that'll give me something shorter term to work towards then :) I was lucky this week that it was only my second week. Next week I have 3 nights away which usually equals at least one pub meal and two 'take-aways' from Tesco or the local petrol station whichever one I can find! ;) Might have to take some cup-a-soups and things with me instead or I'll regret it next Saturday!!

thanks sarah, i had a look, popped in my pounds (213) and it said i should be eating like 1700-2045 thats crazy, I dont think my body needs that much. Honestly ill get home and somtimes if i have a 170 brek fast a 400 lunch of fruite and cereal bars and a dinner of salad protein and a bit of carbs im usually full. I have lots of water and if im huingry ill have a small ice cream for about 30 cals or some more fruite for about 100 cals, so im eating about 1100 and my body doesnt want anymore......
do u reccommend i eat more aof a certain food? if so what? and when? i usually go up to 1400-1500 cals on weekends, so thats 3 bad nights and 4 good nights a week. And i am exercising i walk about 4 miles on average travelling to college, but i guess my body must be used to that strain now??? i will start swimming but i was loosing SO MUCH offf just dieting before christmas 2-3 pounds a week, it was like fat dripping off bacon. I dunno just a bit disheartening. any advice would be very appriciated. |
Hi everyone -
well done to eveyone who's lost this week :cp:  for those who haven't. I've stayed the same this week:mad: My report would say - "Mary needs to stop bunking off PE and do some exercise!" - come to think of it - that IS what my school reports used to say! Joined a leisure club with pool/gym this week so hopefully better results next week:swim: |
Free - that really does sound like your metabolism has adjusted to the lower calories. I think you have taught your body to not want any more - but your BMR means your body needs more than you are eating just to stay alive - and thats without any kind of activity at all.
I wish I had your appetite - it must be me... I find it absolutely no problem to get through 1500 cals a day! :( I could probably get through double that without a problem.... I'm not a nutritionist but most of the articles/books I read all seem to recommend the following: A substantial breakfast with dairy/protein, carbs and fruit (mine is about 400 cals) A mid morning fruit snack (50 cals) Lunch with carbs, protein and veggies (400 cals) A mid afternoon fruit snack (50 cals) Dinner which should be mainly veggies with protein and not so many (if any) carbs. (500 to 600 cals) You should aim to have at least three portions of dairy a day - especially at your age - to ensure you don't get brittle bones as you get older. Also there has been research showing that low fat dairy helps your body get rid of fat. Rosemary Conley says to have a 100 calorie treat each day and a 100 calorie glass of wine - but both wine and treat are optional. Good luck! |
Sarah I went to fitday and registered.
Where does it tell you what your BMR is? Can't see it :o |
so should i increase my cals to loose??? im confussed?
