Default TOPS and me

I have been a member of TOPS for almost a year. Sadly, I have been with 5 pounds of my starting weight. At the beginning of the year, we had new members, who had a huge loss of 12 pounds in a week. I felt great for them, but also kinda angry at myself for not doing that well. Anyways, another member for over a year that has been doing great and is always very encouraging. When we did our monthly losses or something, she spoke out and said, "wow, now I have some competition!" I was floored...and offended....but she was right. My goal from this is to show her what real competition is. Everytime I open the fridge door, I think of showing a big loss at the next meeting, and showing a little competition.

I just wanted to Welcome you to the board.
TOPS is all about weight loss support and support comes in all forms, even competition. So use it to motivate you; nothing wrong with that.

Hope to see you here on the boards!

Don't feel bad, we are here to support you. You need to do this your way. If at this time you are treading water so to speak, well that is so much better than gaining and harder to do that lose in some cases.

I have a little phrase that I tell myself and my family too, for that matter, "I (we) need to change what I (we) feel that fun is. I (we) need to stop assosicating food with a good time, there are other things that contribute to a good time and those are the things I (and we should) intend on focussing on."

cheers, cj

Ceejaye, I agree with you completely about associating food with a good time. I can't tell you how many times at role call members in our chapter say they gained weight and adds "but I had a good time". And I always wonder why we have to associate food with having a good time. I think we do need to refocus our thoughts on the other things that give us a good time.

koalas momma...Welcome to the board and you go girl!
