April 2nd Daily Thread

  • Hi Everyone! Well, I am very proud of myself. I walked yesterday with another lady who walkes down our road. She has lost over 40 pounds walking so I knocked on her door yesterday to see if she wanted to walk with me. I usually walk the treadmill but my son has somehow misplaced the key to it.......LOL Anyways, we walked and walked yesterday while we were talking. I ended up walking 3.5 miles!!!!! I can never do that by myself.
    Then my dh wanted to go watch the pay per view wrestling at my cousins. and he ordered 3 pizza's! I vowed to myself that I was not going to have any, not even a bite. Well, I brought me some ff chicken breast to eat. I ate it and a few chips and pretzels but I DID NOT touch the pizza. I felt so good about it afterwards. And it was hard to b/c my husband put them on my lap in the car But i just talked myself through it and it worked

  • Another week for us to be good to ourselves......HELLO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!! It has been a long time since I have been on the board. Just have not had time....too much going on here.

    The family is all healthy, at least as much as they will be. Thank you to all of you that showed concern for my daughter during her pneumonias. It had been a long haul.......but now time to get MYSELF back in gear. It has been almost a month since Richard and I have been sweating to those oldies. The body just has been feeling so old. Am going to start riding the bike again, and start off slowly instead of rushing in and making things worse. I did gain 1# last week.

    Penny, good going on staying away from those pizza's. You did a wise thing by planning a healthier choice. GOOD GOING! You have been doing well and those 170's feel good, don't they?

    Eleni, sounds like work is going well. Hope you can get back to the walking soon. Don't let it slack off too long or you will feel achier when you get back to it. [like how I do now]. Glad your weight is maintaining....it's so important that it doesn't go upward.

    Sherri, You've also been busy with work, but seem to be doing well with your eating plan. YEAH!!!!!! I agree with your response [along with the other members] about the 'old' members of TOPS.

    We are all humans that are there because we have the same problem......excess weight. It doesn't matter what our ages are since that is our common thread, and we all have something to contribute in our own unique ways. I agree that it helps when we can pair up with someone to do physical activity with, but that doesn't necessarily mean we can find that with any organization, unless you join a gym. TOPS people are caring folk and we don't mind giving the support instead of just taking it. I believe that is the big difference between us and the for-profit groups. WE are here because we want to be, and not because we are having to pay somebodies salary, therefore if we think we spend the money it will help us lose weight more. I've given enough money to gimmicks and 'businesses'. I know what I need to do but the hard thing is just doing it...there are no magic cures. It would make it a lot easier if there were one though.

    Oh my, didn't mean to jabber on, but I guess I thought it was important to me.

  • Welcome to a new week!!!

    I have been busy getting ready for my first meeting as leader on Wednesday. I worked on the weight charts on the weekend, and I am so proud of my chapter. I have 11 weight pins to give out this week!!! They range from 5-35 lbs lost. And I have 4 people that are at or slightly past the 1/2 way to goal mark and another 2 that are close. We already have 5 KOPS in our chapter and we are on the road for another 6 more!!! For a chapter with only about 30-35 members I think that is so good. I don't mean to brag but I am very prous to have these members as part of my club and they are an inspiration to everyone who is having soem problems lately in their weight loss journey.

    I also have my program ready to go and I am almost finished preparing the first contestI am going to do.

    We start in our new building this week too. It is much nicer than the last one, and cleaner. We actually have lots of room to move around now so that will be nice.

    I am doing good now. I have had a good week so far and have repeated ly fought off a huge chocolate craving I have had. It has been 4 days now with it so I hope it soon passes. I refuse to give in to it more as a goal for myself than anything else. Right now I need to focus on one day at a time and one meal at a time. I even had a date with Richard yesterday and I feel really good about it. I plan to have another one after work today and to do some toning today too.

    I won't be checking in tomorrow as I am staying home with literally 150 assignments to mark. It is the end of the semester and I need to get it finished to figure out marks heading into the final exams. But I will be thinking of you all!!

  • Penny-No Pizza.Good for you.I know I could not have done it.You are doing great.I am so proud of you.And walking 3.5 miles is something else.Someday maybe I will be able to walk that far.It sounds far to me.

    Allanah-- It is great that you have so many KOPS.We only have one now.But I am working on the weight charts and we have had a few ladies that are doing fantastic.

    Today was very hectic.I am suppose to go get my new truck at 6. I am getting the short end of the stick like I knew I would.I just want to get it over with now.

    So many of you are doing so good.You inspire me to try to do better.
    My walk is this Sat. I will finish it no matter what.But don't know how long it will take.Haven't been able to walk lately and like Summer said I am getting sore now.
    Job is going good.It is almost too easy

    I just have a few minutes to check in....

    Penny.....that is great that you didn't eat pizza. I wouldn't have been able to not eat it. We had pizza last night and we made our own. I was able to make a pizza that was lower in calories. Everyone thought I should have more cheese but it is so high in calories. What I had was good. Congratulations on your willpower.

    Summer.....glad to see a post from you. I don't post as often as I would like to either. Glad everyone is healthy and you are getting back to the bike.

    Alannah.....sounds like you have a great chapter and the members would be very inspirational. I know you will do well as leader. A month of changes....new leader, new building......sounds great.

    Eleni.....good luck on your walk this weekend. It doesn't matter how fast you do it but it is great you are doing it Glad the job is going well.

    We had lots of snow last night and more is coming. It is snowing really heavy right now. We are supposed to get another 25 cm tonight. Had about 7 inches last night. It isn't a lot for a lot of you this year but I don't think we have had this much all winter. It is wet and heavy because it isn't cold out. I did some shovelling this morning but ran out of time. I am doing my program this Wednesday and I am really nervous. I hope I don't make a complete fool of myself.
