Friday 9/12

  • Hi Everyone
How is everyone. I will have to go through and read the threads and see how everyone is doing. Just seems like there is something always going on. And dont have much time to get on here. But even though I am not on here. I still think of you ladies.
Hubby had a DR's appt on Wed. Just checking him from where he had his seizure last week. Said there isnt anything they can do right now. If he would start having them more. Then they will put him on another med. Dr said people who have seizures have seizures. So otherwise he is doing ok. Just still seems to get tried easy. But I guess it will take a few days to get his strength back.
I had to go for some blood work today. Just getting Cholestrol and all that checked.
Tonight is our TOPS banquet. Looking forward to that. I know I
wont win anything. But it is a free meal. The TOPS club pays for the meal.
Well I better get off here. Need to iron our clothes for tonight. So everyone have a great weekend. Will let you know how the banquet turns out. Thinking of all of you.
    A TOPS PAL
  • Hi Everyone,

Welcome Marilyn (Sprout). Hope you enjoy the boards and TOPS as much as I do. Sounds like you are doing a great job with the walking, especially after the radiation. Good going.

Summer....It is awful to have snow so early in the year. Does that mean you are going to have a long winter? Or do you usually have some more nice weather later, like Indian summer? When my son was at Colorado Spring, he said that the blizzards started in October and didn't end until May. It was an experience for him, being born and raised in FL.

LaDean...Sorry that you had a gain this week. But, you did really good to stay in the black for 11 weeks. Good Job!!! We're proud of you. How much did you lose in that 11 weeks?

Christie, Penny, Coco, Congrats on your losses this week. Keep up the good work.

Coco.....Have fun at your banquet tonight. Hope your hubby will soon be feeling better. My DH passed all his Dr.s checkups with flying colors, except for the heart Dr. He caught him on his blood pressure. I guess when the blood pressure is high, it makes the heart work harder. He is trying new meds on him.

Eleni, Sherri, Wanda, I'm thinking of you and hope you have a good OP week.

    Til Later

  • It's Friday
  • Good afternoon everyone !
Am trying to keep up with all the posts and eventually I will get to remember who is who.

Anyway it is the end of the week -- hope you are all doing well and not overeating.

Bought the bok 'Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge' by Dr. Phil today and have read the first couple of chapters. I do believe it is a book that is going to help me in my journey to a healthy body weight.

Tonight they are having a 2 hour special on NBC with Dr. Phill and some lady -- talking about this challenge. And then on Mondy his new season begins with the beginning of this challenge.

I am hoping to get a lot of the book read over the weekend -- if family duties don't get in the way (haha) and on Monday I am going to start my own 12 Week Challenge along with his book -- want to see how I do on it in the same time length as the 12 people he is putting on it.

Anyone else interested here on taking this challenge!!
I know I am 'ready' to get with it and to 'get real' 'get with the program' and all of those other wonderful sayings -- for health reasons I need to get this weight off -- now!!

Have done well with my food today -- and am looking forward to having a loss next Wednesday at my next TOPS meeting -- am just looking for 1 pound a week -- means just making some small changes each day -- nothing big but something that will bring down those calories.

Did my walk today -- another 1.25 miles so I am now over 621 miles total and feeling good. Looking forward to getting up to 650 miles walked.

Well, supper is in the oven and just about ready so better go and set the table -- want to get the dishes done before the TV special comes on!!

  • Hi Marilyn,
I'm watching the show that Dr. PHil is on now. But I haven't heard anything about the challenge yet. When I know more about it, I may be interested in taking the challenge. A pound a week is a good goal. Will let you know later about the challenge.

  • Hi !I saw the show and thought it was very good=makes you think about changing your lifestyle and not just dieting-especially the part about when you get in trouble. Mine is afternoon til supper and a little in the evening.Going to change that !!I only have 4 and a half more pounds til goal-I guess I could get motivated to change and STAY there. Mima
  • Hi

I watched the show last night and enjoyed it also. Mima, my problem is also in the afternoons. I have an early breakfast and an early lunch and when 3 PM comes around, I want to snack. Dr. Phil is right about it being a lifetime change. Even tho I have heard that for a long time, its just been the last year that I have really understood it and put it into practice. The good rich food that we southerns used to love is no longer desirable to me. I am happy with more healthy meals.
Marilyn...I must have missed the challenge part of the program. Do you know what the challenge is or do we have to wait for the show Monday to learn about it?

    Have a good day.

  • Nita, I gather from the advertising on tv about his new season, that his first show on Monday September 15 is going to be with 12 people that have been chosen from those that submitted applications -- and he apparently is putting them all together in some house from the looks of it and there they will do some work from this book -- I gathered that these people will be doing a 12 week challenge working through his 7 keys of success. That's what I understand anyway.

I have bought the book and read about 1/2 of it so far. He says in the book not to wait till tomorror or Monday, start now, but I am going to start my own '12 Week Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge' as of Monday September 15 -- working through the 7 keys of succes that he has in the book -- working on all the questions he suggests.

Is it possible for me to put up a new thread on Monday with that title so that those that would like to do a 12 Week Challenge of changing their lifestyle could do it together?

    Marilyn/Sprout
  • Yes, Marilyn, it is okay to put up a thread to invite others to try the 12 week challenge with you. I would like to try it, but I need to hear more about what he expects in the challenge. DH and I will probably go on vacation during that time, but I could work on it most of the time. I haven't seen his book, but I will watch his show Monday and invite some of my TOPS friends to watch also.

    Have a good evening.

    Nita
  • I will be sure to watch that show. All of us at the meeting last week agreed to watch Friday night so we should have a good discussion next week. Mima
  • It was a good show!!!Mima
  • I missed the show last night. We had guests for dinner, so I asked DH to tape it for me and I haven't watched it yet. I want to see it asap, but have too many chores to do today.
