Default newbie

I am new to both this website and the world of weight loss support groups. I am attending my first TOPS meeting Thursday to check it out. I have been reading your posts and it sounds like a good group. I was curious if any of you knew how TOPS compares with the Overeaters Anonymous program and why you preferred one over the other. Like I said, I am checking different programs out and would appreciate any opinions/feedback. Glad to be here and Thanks!

The biggest difference in Over eaters and TOPS is TOPS is a more positive group. OE tends to focus on what bad things happened to make one fat and TOPS concentrates on encouraging and supporting a healthy weight loss of your choosing.

Terris,

Welcome to our boards. I think you will like tops. You get out of it what you put into it. You have to figure out what plan is best for you and go with it. There are so many plans out there and not all work for everyone. Come here often and join in. We are here to support each other in the good and bad days. We are all friends here.

Terri,

I don't know much about Overeaters Anonymous, but TOPS is a great organization. I have been a member for several years. One of the good things about TOPS is that when you reach your goal, you become a KOPS and continue coming to the meetings. It is hard to keep the weight off, and continuing to weigh in every week helps to keep it off permanently. Plus, I have made a lot of good friends there. Hope you enjoy your meeting today.
