Day before Thanksgiving
Good Morning Ladies,
Hope the sun is shining brightly in your neighborhood. It was -10 degrees this morning when I got up to deal with the turkey at 5:30 am...........but now the blue sky with white snow is just beautiful..........and peaceful!!
Put the turkey in last night for 7.5 hours. It is a 23 pound buzzard and I could not believe how it just fell off the bones. The whole thing fell apart lifting it out of the roaster. Rescueing the dressing was interesting. LOL!!! I didn't use a knife at all and I have never done that. Didn't sleep too much, kept waking wondering what the smell was. We use a woodburner, so the first thing was 'smoke' that came to mind, but then I realized it smelt toooooooo goooooooooood.
We are leaving today to go to MIL so I won't be around till Monday. I have the whole meal cooked, but am cheating on the pie. Bought a frozen apple and will bake it right before we eat so it will be warm. We're having sweet potatos and since they are so close in flavor to pumpkin pie, I opted for a different dessert.
MIL was in hospital last week, is 92 yo and not sure how long she will be in her home. Poor dh was gone all last week trying to get some of her affairs in order. What an ordeal!!!!!! Ladies, if your parents haven't done it, try to get them to do it ASAP. In fact we ALL need to do it. We never know when something will happen. I have told dh for the past 10 yrs to make sure.....but, of course, he never followed up and now they can possibly lose the house.
I'm going to weigh in early today since I won't be here for the TOPS meeting this eve. I know I have gained, but I really need to keep check on it due to this 'food season'. Really would like to have a loss next Wed.
Have a WONDERFUL THANKSGIVING!!!!!!! We do have a lot to be THANKFUL for!!!! Will chat when I get back. BLESS YOU ALL!!!
