Default Tuesday

here is a note I received from a past TOPS King and a motivational speaker. It was helpful to me so hopefully some of you will get something out of it. have a good day

Every now and then we all have one of those days...what ever that means. I know it has a different meaning for each of us.
For several weeks I strove to get all things in order and then called the Surgeon and set the date for my knee replacement surgery. Because the date was set and so many things hanging on it I put off starting the treatment for the R.A. so after all of the Dr. visits and blood drawings and physicals, today, one week before surgery the Surgeons office calls and says the Dr. needs to reschedule the surgery for the 22nd. of July.
Have you ever wondered if they even give a thought to someone other than themselves having a value on their time. Perhaps they think that folks just sit around waiting (with baited breath) for them to allow us to visit their office or allow them to operate on us.
Do I sound a little put out or a little upset over this turn of events. Well I am. You set up an appointment with them for 2:00 P.M. and you wait and wait and wait and if you are lucky you get in 45 minutes or an hour after your appointed time and they smile and never consider that your time is valuable.
Will I reschedule for the 22nd. of July. YES, of course I will and it is because of that one word "commitment".

For two years I have been telling TOPS people that "faithfulness" will bring about success. Commitment is a part of faithfulness.
Listen to what the dictionary has to say of these words...
Commitment..An engagement or pledge to do something...
Commit... To devote oneself unreservedly; pledge; bind.....
Faithful...True or trustworthy in the fulfillment of promises or obligations.
In order to understand the TOPS program you have to understand that we are committed to a new and different lifestyle and when we understand that word committed we know it to mean that whatever happens in my life I will stay firm in my resolve to live this new lifestyle.
I suppose the easiest way to explain this is to use the example of a person (and I use myself) who goes on a binge. Sometimes we just don't seem to be able to control ourselves for whatever reason and we let it all hang out and eat everything in the fridge and then lick the door handle. When we get over being sick (literally) and then go through the remorse stage we come to the point of saying that we will just quit TOPS and be done with it... BUT WAIT... remember your "COMMITMENT" your "PLEDGE" to a new and different lifestyle.
At this point in time those who are "committed to TOPS" will realize that one slip does not mean failure. Failure can only come if you quit and are not "faithful to your Commitment".
Commitment will help you to take a deep breath and restore your resolve to lose the weight.
Commitment will help you to look in the mirror and still LOVE the one that you see reflected there.
Commitment will help you to be faithful to.. Yourself, your Chapter, your State Leaders..... Commitment will help you get right back on track and right back in a weight losing mode.

So you had that binge..so you ate everything that you shouldn't have, except in moderation. That DOES NOT make you a BAD PERSON. It simply make you a person who slipped and one is now going to get back on track and begin to lose weight once again.

I know you are asking if I have ever gone on a binge that way. Well it would be a lie for me to say that I hadn't binged before or to say it will never happen again because it just might, but I am COMMITTED to this TOPS LIFESTYLE and will endeavor to live it for the rest of my life. I want to be Faithful to myself and I know that "Faithfulness with Commitment will bring Success".
Are you a FAITHFUL TOPS member...are you a COMMITTED TOPS member. REMEMBER that these bring with them SUCCESS and that is what we are looking for.
Don't forget that we (TOPS) are a family and we are here to help each other. Maybe you should call someone this week or maybe you should send a card to someone. It has been my experience that every time I reach out to someone to give them a helping hand that I get more help (it seems) than they do.
Have a great weigh in and remember your "COMMITMENT" to
TOPS and yourself
