What food will you give up this week and get to goal quicker??
Is there a certain No No food, that just calls your name at night??? Or anytime??? Well lets whip that food back into subjection to us and not the other way around!
My no no food this week is....
dessert at least the high fat ones my leader requested that we only eat low fat or sugar free so that is my pledge for the week
Come on and jump in!!!!! Lets whip temptation one step at a time
In our TOPS group we have a "forbidden food" every week. Things like dessert, cake, cookies, and chocolate bars, full fat cheese, ice cream, pastries etc.
The original list came from the group. A sheet was passed around and each person added the thing that "calls them" or that they know is "bad" for weight loss, so it made an interesting list. Someone put in "eggs benedict" -- I guess for the sauce. I would put in chocolate bars, especially chocolate covered cherries!
We have a little plastic piggy bank that sits on the table. He has a "Naughty Pig" sign around his neck. He is for gains and for eating the forbidden food. No one is required to put money in him, as you cannot "fine" people in TOPS for gaining weight. Our "suggestion" is 10 cents for every quarter pound, but some people put in more, or not at all. Its the same for the "forbidden food" -- entirely voluntary.
We have an unwise food choice every week. The best loser of the week gets the basket with all the gifts in it for the week and gets to choose the unwise food choice.
If you eat the unwise food choice you must put in .25 for every time you ate it.
This week it was my choice so I choose chips. No chips of any kind.
Hi Ladies
We do this every week at our meetings. The top loser gets to pick a no-no food for the week. Sometimes they say it is for a week. Then if we ate the no-no food we would have to read a tip out of a jar. But we had read them so much. That they wasn't helping any more. So they are still doing the no no food. But not reading the tip. It use to work for me about the no no food. Because I didn't want to read that slip of paper. But now that they dont do that or ask I sometimes still eat the no no.
I think my no-no will be chips. There for a while I wasnt eating them. Now I want them. So try not to buy them. But sometimes my son wants them. So I get them for him. But I put them in the cupboard where I cant see them all the time. That helps. Out of sight out of mind. Until I open the cupboard. But I put them in the cupboard were I don't open much. So that helps me.
A TOPS PAL
this sounds like a good idea. sherri and CoCo, have you tried the Lays WOW chips? they are good and much lower in fat and calories. Salty things are not my problem, usually. Mine is concentrated sweets, mainly candy. I will try, though I can't believe i am doing this, to not eat any candy this week, except for the sugar free hard candies I like. Have you seen the Baskin Robbins sugar free candy? really tasty. But I just don't knowif I can go a whole week with out candy.
Have any of you heard of this idea? I read it in a book about 40 years ago called A Thin Book By a Formerly Fat Psychiatrist. He had quite a few tips for dieting, some of which are common knowledge now, but were radical at that time. One was to lose 10% of your weight, then stop dieting and maintain that weight for 3 months, then lose 10% more, etc. He said this way you aren't so quick to regain it. But the tip I was going to tell you all about is this. If there is one thing, like chips, or candy bars, or hot fudge sundays (sp?) that keeps sabatouging (sp? again) your diet efforts, you can stop it in this way. Dedicate one day to that item. Say it is candy bars. Eat candy bars for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and any snacks. The point is to eat nothing but the candy bars. You will find that by evening, the thought of eating another candy bar is repulsive. this is drastic, but it really works. I did it with hot fudge sundays one time, and really enjoyed one for breakfast. It was good for lunch, also, but could hardly get the dinner one down, and didn't have an urge for one for over a year. Your body just refuses to eat it any more. i know this is drastic, and I don't suggest it if you only have occasional cravings for something. But if it is a daily struggle to stay away from a certain item, then this will work for you. I've done it on three seperate occasions over the years, and it worked each time. Have any of you ever heard of this?
Well, it is after midnight, and I must turn in for now. I have had trouble getting on for the past few days, so have been absent from the boards. i think I have the problem corrected now, so hope to see y'all tomorrow. Mary ann Oh, I have a question. How do I change the weight on the bottom of my note, I think it is called the signature.
We use to do the no, no's. But now we do yah, yah's or yeses.
We have a year planned for them. You do things to encourage your weight loss. Journal, water, park further away, try new recipes, eat 3-5 servings of veggies, fruits, contact tops pal ect.
but I will have to admitt. There is one food I haven't been able to do without for a whole week. Ok 2. Icecream, and potato chips. I use the wow occassionally. I also use baked, and no fat pretzels. I've changed the icecream so i'm better incontrol. However, the chip thing leangers. My week is almost up. So starting on tuesday, I will join this one, and do without chips or pretzels for a week. This will also add chip dip, so I won't be buying either this weekend. Good job ladies. We are making changes.
Ok Ladies I am in and I have a comment also.... lol
I know I use to eat the WOW chips also but the Olestra seems to be very bad for your digestive system, stomach, and intestines (sp?) . I know it makes my stomach cramp terribly. But it never stopped me from eatin 'em
