Exclamation Important Info On Green Tea!

Hi Ladies!~ I have started drinking green tea and also doing some research on it that some of us may need to know! Hope it helps! Penny

Things to know about green tea:

*One cup of green tea contains from 100-200mg of EGCG.

*Green tea should not be steeped in boiling water, but hot water (around 160-200 degrees). Use 1 Teaspoon of loose tea per cup, and a little more than 1 cup of water.

*Epidemiological studies have examined green tea drinkers; controlled studies have largely been done on the extract of green tea. Both are beneficial.

*Decaffeinated green tea does not show the same benefits as green tea left in its natural state.

*Adding milk negates green tea's beneficial properties.
Black tea may increase the incidence of certain cancers. Don't drink it.

*Green tea has been show to be anti-bacterial, able to kill the potentially deadly Staphylococcus aureus and the bacteria that causes acne, Bacterium acne.

***More than 5 cups a day may increase your odds for pancreatic cancer; 1-4 cups shows only benefits, so 1 or 2 cups a day is probably just right.

Penny,

This is awesome. You saved me the time of looking this up. I was going to look it up tonight. I guess we are doing the right thing from drinking it. I am going to keep it up.

What about you?

Default Green Tea

Hi
I drink green tea but what I get is in bags. Lipton makes it. I see you are using the loose tea. Where do you find that? Also with the bags I get. I get it in Mint flavor and Orange, Passion fruit and Jasmine. I also have mixed berry.
I like the mint and Orange, Passion Fruit and Jasmine. The mixed berry is alright. But I like to drink my at room temp. I usually have 2 cups a day. Then I drink water the rest of the time. But I do like the green tea.

A TOPS PAL

Thanks for the info Penny, I have been drinking green tea for about 2 years now, It definatly keeps my weight down, if I go over 150 I can always start it up and the weight comes right back off. I dont care much for the taste but as I told Sherri... I can choke it down if it is that good for me

I've read a lot of good things about green tea also. Someone gave me a tin of green tea bags, but it is very weak and I tried using 2 bags per cup, but it wasn't much better. I'll try some of those flavors that coco mentioned, but I would like to hear more about the best flavors or brands to buy.
