Angry Tgif 1-18

Happy end of the week to us all. First off, I want to thank EVERYONE that offered support to me the last couple of days. You ladies are such a God send for me and I emotionally felt all those {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, but I would have loved to feel them in person. DH doesn't even do it....but I'm sure he has just as hard of time as I do.

I was doing fairly well while I was away until a teen member was present and her mom announced that she turned 16 on Monday. All I could do was visualize what Melissa would be like if she was 'normal'. Whew, but I survived and she even helped me with my program.

All in all, it was really nice getting away. Both chapters are sweethearts and after the morning one, we did go out for lunch at a chinese buffet. There is not one in my town, so needless to say, I enjoyed myself. The weather ran every gammet that day. Left town in snow [ -2 degrees ] and dicey roads....2 hrs later I was without a jacket in bright sunshine!!!! Clouds increased throughout the day and we were socked in just before the eve meeting. When it was over, there was 3 inches on the ground with ice underneath. I was in a 4 WD and still sliding when going slow. Some of the worst conditions I've been in. Had 35 miles to the dorm......

.....got to the uphill, winding road to the college. I made it up, but I passed 4 cars that were abandoned and one wreak. Had a good time with DD and met 4 of her friends. Wished I had more time, but got there after 10pm. Had to take the cushions off our homes couch in the living room since DH told me he could feel every metal rod just while sitting on the futon. Worked out perfectly Luckily the neighbor didn't start the stereo until after 8am and then it was the pounding bass. Won't complain, it could have been worse.

I'm glad that so many of us are posting again. It helps everyone. We all have our ups and downs. CONGRATULATIONS to all our losers or maintainers.....and to everyone else, and that includes ME, we will perservere and survive as WINNERS!
As Shannia says, "LET'S GO GIRLS!!!!!!!!"

Summer,

Thanks for the call. I loved it. Also I am glad you had a great time with heather. I am sorry you have been so down the last couple of days with everything going on. But it will get better. I am going to a chineese buffet tonight and I am going to enjoy to.LOL I am enjoying my day off plan. I look forward to it but I have to work hard the rest of the week. But I need that break to be normal or what I consider normal for that one day. I know it is not normal to overeat but that is what got us in this situation. So I can make it through the week knowing that on friday I can have what I want.
I am glad you arrived safe at the college with all the bad weather. Maybe once a month you could go and stay the night with heather as a date night at the dorm. It would be nice for you both. Your time together when you don't have to attend a meeting and you can enjoy the night there. A mother daughter night out on the town.
Now you have all this behind you now you can concentrate on you again. You have to get back on plan. It is for your own good. You can do it I know you can.
Here are some vibes to help you through the week(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((( ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((GO SUMMER, GO SUMMER, GO SUMMER, YOU CAN DO IT YES YOU CAN))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) ))))))))))))))

I am supposed to have a date with my husband tonight if he makes it home from the bar. There is a girl in the office that today is her last day and they are going to have a going away celebration for her after work. He said he is only going to stay an hour. I said you better. We have planned on this night for a week now. So he better not stand me up. He said we could go to this bar/resteraunt and they have karyoke. I love that and have been wanting to do it for awhile now. So I hope I get to go.
I am going to be back on plan and doing great for another week in a row.

Have a great day and think of you first. You are important and deserve the time to yourself.

Hey Everybody!

Man, the {{{{{{{{{vibes}}}}}}}}} are flying today!

Summer, glad you are back!! Missed you!

Sherri- Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5lbs!!!! WHooHoo!!!!!!!! So can you go tubing now or what?

Oh I just have to say it again

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I have to run (literally) Had friends over for coffee this morn and frittered away researching Sugarbusters vs Canadian Diabetic diet after they left. Have found some truly exciting (to me)info.

Christie, I am putting together another Email for you with research links to U of T and U of S, and I am most definately picking up the book this week. My diet is sort of "Sugarbusters for Dummies" it is really facinating to get down to the nuts and bolts mechanics of how the body is actually using the the things we feed it. Wolever deals primarily with the hardcore insulin/pancreatic reactions and Sydney is developing a comprehensive site dedicaded to indexing all common foods.
Plus there are some minor variances between what the SB guys say are moderate and other researchers findings. ie potatoes, new and Yukon gold are OK up here but seem to be no nos on SB. Facinating stuff! Looks like there is quite a firestorm down there over these findings as well.

Well, I said I gotta run and I do!

I hate to report that I gained .25# last night. I don't know why as I have been following the point system since Sunday. But I will cut back on the points and see what happens. I was really disappointed last night and then my neighbor and I had a fender bender and that really got me down. No one was hurt, thank God.
She was driving, but neither of us saw the truck until it hit us. But as her daughter and mine told us today, cars can be replaced, Mothers can't.

I am really trying this week, I decided that I have to get serious. I have been trying, but I guess not hard enough. I have been writing down everything that goes in my mouth.

I really appreciate all the support that flies around on this thread. Even if I don't have an opportunity to post every day, I receive so much support from just reading them.

Summer, I'm glad you had a good trip even though the weather didn't sound good. I like WARM weather. We do pray for you and can only tell you to look only at the positive things, and I am sure you will find many.

Sherri, hope you have a wonderful time out on your date tonight. We all need to do that more.

cc, I just found a book I bought awhile ago on SB. I guess I need to go back and read it, huh? (In fact, I just found Two books!)

I need to go get on the treadmill!

Good thoughts to each of you!!!!!!!

Mickey,

Don't give up girl. I started the WW plan 2 weeks ago and also I started on a sunday counting pts also. But I wasn't weighing and measuring everything either. I gained 1/2 lb the first week. Then this week wow 5 lbs. But I have learned that even if you eat the amount of points you should it really does matter that you measure and weigh and also eat the lower fat and lower sugar foods to go along with it.
I have been having oatmeal every morning for my breakfast. Then a peanutbutter and jelly sandwich for lunch and a fruit for a snack. But for the bread I switched to the wheat bread. Also I use the wonder lite which is only 1 pt for 2 slices versus 2 pts for 1 slice of the regular bread. Then for the jelly I switched from grape jelly to the smuckers lite sugar free strawberry jam. It is good and less sugar. I think these changes alone have helped me. Then I have my 4 oz. of meat for dinner with my 1 cup of mashed potatoes and a veggie. Then usually a bag of the 94% ff popcorn the store brand. It is only 2 pts. So it really matters what you eat and how much. If you are not measuring and weighing it is possible you are getting more pts then you think. Which could be the cause of your gain. I don't know if you are measuring. But if you are then stick with it and don't give up and try to go with lower sugar food choices. I am going to try and have brown rice for dinner a couple days this week (legal on SB) instead of having the mashed potatoes every night. ( not legal on SB) So I am combining both of them.
I hope some of this helps. But you can't give up. If you are truly sticking to your pts and eating lower fat food choices then you will do fine next week. It will show up on the scale. DON'T GIVE UP!

CC,

Thanks for the Congrats. I was very happy and no I don't get to go tubing yet. But I am half way there. I have to lose 10 lbs in order to go. But I am physiced that I am almost there. I am going to have another loss this week.
That is great you are finding out a lot about the sugar busters. I am doing that mostly in combination with the WW. I find that if I am going to lose weight I really have to weigh and measure everything I eat. Otherwise I overeat. They say you don't have to do that with SB but to me you still can only have a certain # of cal a day and if you overeat (no matter what it is) then you still won't lose the weight. Christie doesn't eat much to start with and needs to eat more that is why she can do it without measuring. I on the otherhand can eat so I have to be careful to know how much I am getting. So that is why it is critical for me to measure and weigh and keep track of the pts. That way I know that I am getting in the amount of food I need in a day.
Good luck with your research. When are you going to start the SB plan? Or should I say are you going to start it?

Hi all - a quick check in before I start dinner. I have really tried today and I think I am even better than yesterday. I had a sub tho' for lunch (not toooo bad) and tonight I am having fish , potatoes etc.. The thing I did do wrong was I had a piece of biscotti for an afternoon snack - just one piece. I don't know how many points they have but they are mostly flour...

I know quite a few people on the SB diet and they swear by it. I should maybe look it up. I'm not too crazy about sweets but I love butter and starches.....and boy do I love chineese buffet. Outside of San Fransciso I believe we have some of the best chineese food in north america here. We have so many asian immigrants and they have different styles of cooking and it is so good... anyhow enough drooling.

Wow Sherri - good for you....I know we can all do it...We just have to be focused.

CC how are you losing your weight - calories or WW and why are you thinking of changing to SB? You are doing great as it is...

Hi Coco - glad to see you here....

You're right Mickey - you can't give up. It does work - just keep doing the right things and the rewards will come...

Eleni, Summer and all the rest - have a good weekend and for those of you driving in rotten weather - take care...........
