  • DONE!! Day 12 is done!

    **************

bear -- Good for you! One day closer to completing your challenge!

100 -- Just get back on the horse! You can do it!
  • Calories 1500-1700 - day 10, with 3 pauses gone
Candy <100 calories per day, day 11, 1 pause gone
Fruit/vegetables - 4 or more servings per day, day 11 with 3 pauses gone

Bear – great job with day 1. Keep it up!

100% - good luck with starting over tomorrow. Do you want to consider level 3 to give yourself some pause days? Sometimes knowing I have permission to pause makes it easier to say no to the tough stuff.

Red – How was the horse race? Were you participating in it, reporting on it, or just having fun?

DJ and LaBonita - hope you both had a good weekend.

Back to reality tomorrow. It will be a tough week for me with two parties to attend this week. I'm hosting the first one on Tuesday night, so will have some control over the menu. I can do this!!!!!!
  • Day 2 Coming to a close. I almost missed the vitamin b/c I kept sleeping in but i remember later in the day and the water challenge is easy. But I do have to use the ladies room a lot more. Thanks everyone for the support, I loe it hear.
100%-remember tomorrow is another day and at least you fell off the horse in the beggining instead of one day to go.
Ashley and Red- Great jobs keep up the good work.
  • Ok, finished my other challenge of not eating 2 hours before bed. Now, I will start new challenges.

Some sort of purposeful exercise everyday - level 3
No food 2 hours before bedtime - level 3
At least 4 servings of fruits/vegies per day - level 1

I'm changing the exercise challenge from my normal 30 minutes a day to just some sort of exercise everyday because sometimes on the weekends I have a really hard time fitting in a good workout. During the week I usually put in closer to an hour, but weekends with kids and husband around, it can be tough. This way, on the weekends I can do something simple like crunches if need be to meet my challenge.

Hi everyone! Hope you had a great weekend.
  • Whee!!!
I'm on Day 16 of no-cXXXX challenge! And not craving the stuff anymore at all! My intention is to do two in a row, until Christmas.

On Dec 19th, I'm off to Australia - which gives me exactly 3 weeks to get a whole lot of stuff done and thus... that's my new challenge - to get it all done, and to remember to be nice to myself from time to time. It's way too complicated and too much stuff to list here and not very exercise/weight loss relates (rather schoo/life stuff), so I won't be typing it all out here, but probably will in my blog.

Btw, I noticed that I'm the only one who still has the "number of 21-day challenges completed" siggie... (not that it's up to date)

Cheers to you, Red, and to everyone else
  • Calories 1500-1700 - day 11, with 3 pauses gone
Candy <100 calories per day, day 12, 1 pause gone
Fruit/vegetables - 4 or more servings per day, day 12 with 3 pauses gone

I weighed this morning and am still at 187 even after last week's two days of feasting. My next goal is 179 and I intend to be there by New Year's Eve.

Anybody else have a New Year's goal?
  • Day 1 - good - Some sort of purposeful exercise everyday - level 3
    Day 1 - good - No food 2 hours before bedtime - level 3
    Day 1 - good - At least 4 servings of fruits/vegies per day - level 1

Well, 1 day down, 20 to go! I'm glad there are no holidays during the next 20 days, that will help me get through this.

Ashley - Congrats on not gaining through the holiday! Good job!

Sushi - Awesome job on the 16 days! You're on a roll!

Bbybear - You're off to a good start! I know what you mean about the water and the ladies room. Sometimes it seems that I'm in there constantly.

Hi Red - Looks like you've been doing really good!

100% - Believe me, we've all done restarts! Just don't give up. Habits can be hard to break, but you can do this!

    Have a great day all!
  • 13 down!!
Day 13 is done!! Gotta sleep, all. I'll try to write in the morning!
  • Calories 1500-1700 - day 12, with 3 pauses gone
Candy <100 calories per day, day 13, 1 pause gone
Fruit/vegetables - 4 or more servings per day, day 13with 3 pauses gone

Today, I ate three meals, had two snacks, hosted a group of friends to dinner at my house tonight, and still managed to stay at 1600 calories! I've decided the secret to losing weight is less candy and more carrots. Not that it's a secret. Just something I've struggled to remember for years.

We've all got 21 days before the next big holiday. Lets dig in hard and make it happen!!!
  • Hey everyone. Day 3 and Day 4 are done. I knwo for a fact this is a level 1 challenge on both parts because I feel it's coming wasy to me. Yet at the same time I feel maybe it's going easy because I know I gotta get my life back on track. It's only been a few days but I noticed my skin isnt as flushed as it usually is. Thanks to everyone who supports me and congrats to everyone. Especially those who are on Level 3 Challenges, djstorey, ashley keep it up
  • Day 14 is finished and notched!!

    **************

bear -- Great going! That's great that you're seeing a difference in your skin! Keep up the good work!

Ashley -- What a success story! You are on a major roll! What resolve! Less candy, more carrots! I'm going to make that my mantra! New Year's goal?! Hmmm....hadn't thought about it...maybe I should...ask me again if I don't get back to you. And, the horse race was fantastic, super emotional stuff and something I'll remember all my life probably. I was covering the race...just wrote two small stories on it.

dj -- Good going on a successful liftoff! Three new challenges! Powerful!

Sushi -- I didn't know you were with us?! Is this a stealth challenge or what?! Well, whatever...good luck! and thanks!

Others, where are you?!!? jolly?! Apple?! Don't be shy!

  • Day 2 - good - Some sort of purposeful exercise everyday - level 3
    Day 2 - good - No food 2 hours before bedtime - level 3
    Day 2 - good - At least 4 servings of fruits/vegies per day - level 1

Just got a few extra minutes to report in... It's cold (-5), icy and snowy here so I'm going to run kids to school today. Especially since my son managed to leave his jacket at school!

    Have a great day all!
  • Calories 1500-1700 - day 13, with 3 pauses gone
Candy <100 calories per day, day 14, 1 pause gone
Fruit/vegetables - 4 or more servings per day, day 14 with 3 pauses gone

I returned to the gym today for the first time in two months. My shoulder has finally improved enough that I could do the eliptical for 20 minutes and then did some very light weights. I'm going to try a low-level aerobics class on Saturday morning to see if I can tolerate that much jarring motion yet. I'm so looking forward to getting back to the level of cardio I was at before surgery.

Bear - good going on your goals. I find level 1 to be much harder than level 3, because there is only 1 pause day allowed. I don't think I'd ever get to 21 with only 1 pause day, and really admire those that can make it.

Red - you must lead an exciting life with the events you cover. I'm really envious. Seems like my job is challenging, but at the same time it's sitting at the conference table or desk for long stretches day in and day out.

DJ - brrrrr. Isn't it amazing how kids can manage to leave their jackets everywhere they go? My kids spent most of their grade school years in Florida, where it warms up significantly as the day goes along. There must be a huge pile of their jackets still lingering somewhere around Tampa.

Jolly, Apple, Sushi - hope everything is going well for you.
  • Sorry all. Things have just gotten crazy around here. Again. Should be settling down soon. I hope.

2 challenges, starting today. Level 2's

    1. Eat two servings each of fruits and vegetables daily.

    2. Exercise daily.

    Let's do this.

    Have a great day all.
  • Day 3 - good - Some sort of purposeful exercise everyday - level 3
    Day 3 - good - No food 2 hours before bedtime - level 3
    Day 3 - good - At least 4 servings of fruits/vegies per day - level 1

Still cold here, but we did manage to get all the shoveling done. Shoveling snow at least is a good calorie burner!

Ashley - Yes, kids leave jackets everywhere. Every year we end up going through the lost and found at school at least a couple of times! It's amazing to me though, because it doesn't warm up here much during the day. Yesterday we had a high of 14 and they still leave their jackets laying around.
Glad to hear your shoulder is doing better!

Jolly - Good to see you back! Good luck on your challenges and hope things are calming down for you.

    Have a great day everyone!
