I think my friend is stationed there..

Shopaholic1204 05-13-2008 11:57 PM

Wait...my cousin is in Kings Bay..and my friend is in Ft. Gordan.

2fat2jump 05-17-2008 10:22 AM

That's cool. Yeah, Kings Bay is a submarine base with a few marines thrown in.

I'm feeling especially low this weekend. We're finally over the deployment hump, but I just look at all the days we STILL have left and it makes me want to cry. Ugh, I hate this feeling.

Shopaholic1204 05-17-2008 12:18 PM

I know how you feel

married2asoldier 05-21-2008 01:25 PM

I used to call that the after R&R blues. I had them really bad last deployment because almost as soon as He went back from leave they started the 15 month crap and he got extendedblah.

2fat2jump 05-21-2008 02:38 PM

I was actually doing really well the first half of deployment - even better than the last 4 deployments together. I guess it just all caught up with me at once. We're over the halfway hump now, so I'm just trying to put all my energy into this weight loss adventure. Plus I'm flying back to my hometown in about a week. Yay! I'm counting on my time there to speed things up dramatically.

*blows dust off and looks around*

Where'd everyone go? Hubby will be home for R & R in 'about' 114 days [unless it gets changed again grr] and home from this deployment in 'about' 169 days and I could use some girl-talk and weight-loss-talk from others who *get it* kwim?

Shopaholic1204 06-28-2008 04:04 PM

Thats great that your hubby will be coming home on R&R soon!! I wish the Navy did that during deployments, lol. But oh well.

My hubby will be home very soon. I'm excited. He's only been gone on a workup for 2 months..but I still missed him, lol. He's off the ship Aug 12!!! YAY!!!

2fat2jump 06-28-2008 10:13 PM

I'm still around if that makes a difference. 114 days -yipes! If it were me, I'd probably start doing kegal exercises because after that long of a separation, that's all I could think about. :) Hopefully you're staying busy through this deployment and all that jazz.

mkat321 06-29-2008 02:12 PM

believe me it's alot of what I think about :) I'm wondering if I will remember how. :)

I'm doing my best to stay busy. It's hard since I'm not working and just had a breast reduction on the 16th so the stuff I would normally do to stay busy like going for a long walk in the heat of the day, going to the gym and pushing myself through kickboxing, step aerobics, etc. isn't allowed.

dancingirl81 07-13-2008 12:38 AM

hey ladies... hope there's room for one more... my bf's in the AF and just told me today that he's being deployed again. We got together just after he came back from his last deployment, so i'm not entirely sure what to expect. Right now i'm in shock.... he only has 6 months left on his enlistment... I thought we were home free.. guess i missed that one, lol.

anyway, advice would be awesome... anything to make the time between now and then better...

mkat321 07-14-2008 10:51 AM

welcome!

My husband was stop-lossed eight months before his contract ended to cover the deployment he's currently on. We weren't even given a chance to sign on for a try-1 to cover it or anything. It sux but you push through it and most of the time it all works out for the better. Or so the wives on the military support board I post on keep telling me.

Hey ladiez!
I'm a Canadian, in the process of getting my paperowrk done so I an marry my military man :) Someone had told me about this thread on here which I had never noticed before, so I had to jump in on it!
My fiance is getting prepared to be deployed and since i'm stuck in Canada on and off until my visa work is complete, my stress levels are through the roof! I'm glad that I found some people around that no doubt understand what i'm going through/about to go through and I can wait to continue kicking some butt via this thread with you girls!
