Default Wow

Wow!! $400!!! I wish my office would do something like that. We'd probably have more money as there are about 40 of us. How much money did everyone have to put in originally?

Initially there was 14 people that participated and we each put in $40. The way that it worked was that if you lost 5% of your weight then you would recieve back $20. I would say almost half the people got back their $20. The winner was determined by the biggest percentage of weight that you lost.
It definitly was a motivator for me.

Default Sticking with it week 2

Well, midway into week 2 and I´m doing well. I´m on day 3 of South Beach Diet Phase 1. Last week was a total disaster dietwise, but I did start a new running program. I managed to run a little more than 15 miles last week. This week I´m going for 17. I haven´t lost any weight in the past week, but I´m not too worried because I tend to put on some muscle when I workout harder. I figure if I keep to my diet and running, I´ll start to see a difference on the scales next week. I would really like to lose a size by the end of June for my sil´s wedding. I want to look HOT!

(sending out good vibes to all of you strong ladies)

By the way, my size 8´s are falling off today. I´m amazed (and a bit impressed with myself) because in December of last year my size 14´s were tight!

Wow, Holly. That's great to go from a tight size 14 to a falling off size 8 in 6 months! Congratulations on the running too. I'm doing good to walk 4 1/2 miles at a time, but it's good for me. Good luck on your goal to lose a size!

so it's totally been more than a week since this thread started, but that's ok. ^.^ thanks for the warm fuzzies, angel33, potato and hpnotq! you guys are so encouraging!

i lost 3 pounds last week - twice my goal! - and have a new job that keeps me busy a few days a week in the theater. if i come home feeling gross and sweaty, i must have been doing something good, right?

i have a question for you People Who Know Things About Diets.. what is a normal/healthy daily calorie intake? i've started tracking what i eat and some days i'm under 1000Cals. i thought i read somewhere on here that you're supposed to get an absolute minimum of 1200Cals per day, is that correct? it's not even like i'm on some official regimented plan, i'm just making sure i make good choices and staying away from mindless grazing.. am i on solid ground here? TiA!

I guess it would be a good idea to start a new thread every Monday so we don't have so many pages to navigate. Whoever gets here first should feel free to start the post.

So the scale hasn't been moving for me despite an increase in my exercise habits and a half-assed attempt at eating right. (I was falling off the "eating wagon" a couple of days per week.) As such, I decided to start following WW. I am not going to the meetings because I honestly don't have the time with 2 small children. However, I had a point finder and a week 1 book so I think I am good to go. I stayed on plan today and I made a fantastic fish dinner for myself (DH and kids ate a rather fattening meal). I even have some leftover for lunch tomorrow.

BainidheDub - as for your question regarding calories, I logged in every morsel I consumed today following WW and I was under 1300 calories. I used all my points (and I guess since I have so much to lose, I am at the higher end of calories).

I also think I have come up with my own personal challenge. I would like to lose 20 lbs. by Labor Day.

Good Morning Everyone.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic day so far.

BainidheDub-Good Job on the 3lb loss and Congrats on the new job!
Oh yah, the whole calorie dilemma. I have read so much stuff on how many calories you should eat, my head is ready to explode. I will tell you from my experience over the past 15 weeks I had to kinda play with numbers until I found an amount in which I had a loss. I found that if I ate to many then I maintained or gained(obviously) but also if I didn't eat enough I didn't loss either. It really is so different for everyone. There is a lot of really good information in the calorie counters forum if you interested.

3gwriter-Good Luck doing SB, awesome job on the running and we have no doubt that you'll look hot for your sil's wedding.

jjeanne-Good Luck doing WW. I would love to join you on your Labor Day Challenge. I could handle losing another 20lbs by then.

Talk to you all soon!

Okay so I started a new thread. That's the first time I ever did one and was surpised how easy it was.

Anway, I put it as "sticking with it" and left the weeks off so we wouldn't have to change it each week.

Check it out. I am home bound today and needs some buddies to laugh with.

This idea is really cute. We could add stuff to it like water, cheating etc.

The point system is good too. We need more information on it. Does anyone know how it works and what the prize is?

What do you think?
