Pointer Sistas Challenge: Week Two
This was a great challenge idea started by Angie. And since it was such a hit last week....we'll continue on this week. We can start the new thread each Monday. Anyway....Here is what it's all about:
The rules are simple... you get to earn 4 points per day, that is a total of 28 points per week. If you get 25 points or more, give yourself a reward. It doesn't have to be big, a new lipstick, pocket book, a pedicure, or time for you, just you. You can earn 1 point for drinking all your water, 1 point for eating clean, 1 point for your workout, and 1 point for doing what ever you forget or avoid. ie: taking your vitamins, or tracking all your food intake...this is something you can decide. At the end of the week tally up your points. Make this fun, and remember you do deserve a reward...:hug: |
I'm in again. I'm going to keep my challenge list the same: 1 for being perfectly OP, 1 for 64 oz. or more of water, 1 for exercise daily, and 1 for taking a vitamin.
In spite of myself, I lost 2 pounds last week, which makes me very, very happy. All that yard work paid off. Plus, although I wasn't perfect with the food, I did better than I've done for a long time. I've got my daily food plan all journaled and I'm ready to go. :carrot: Oh, another thing, I'm fairly sure I'm going to invest in a treadmill again, since that's my favorite exercise. Then I can do upper body exercises on the in-between days. So what's your plan? |

Pretty much the same: 30mins of exercise= 1pt. 40oz of water= 1pt. veggies or fruit= 1pt. Vitamin= 1pts. Will WI later on at work if I can get the time to go down to the gym. Really should make it a point to do that!! |
I too am in! Mine will be the same...1 pt. for exercise, 1 pt. for 4 bottles of water, 1 pt. for eating clean, and 1 pt. for taking my vitamins. Will tally up my points later but already have my vitamins taken and exercise done. Went to It Figures and got in a good work-out, about 40 mns. Tomorrow I will walk if it isn't raining. Have one bottle of water to drink and my eating is OP! So far so good! Aiming for that 28 pts. this week , or pretty close to it. Weighed in and I am at 202.4 so gained .4 which isn't so bad. I actually thought it would be worse after this past weekend.

And to answer your question...I didn't get my reward :( Actually, not sad about it because I knew over the weekend I didn't do so great with the eating. But this is a new week and I am aiming for a reward. Now...what to reward myself with? |
I am in again. Maybe I will do better this week.
1 point for eating OP 1 point for water 1 point for a daily walk 1 point for an extra 15 minutes of any kind of REAL exercise I lost 1 pound this week, which still doesn't put me back to the 170 I reported on here last summer, but at least it was a loss. |
Great idea for starting fresh each Monday!
Please tell me if someone got their reward last week? Is this too hard,,,perhaps we can change it up so its more attainable? Or do we just need to focus and grab that reward? |
Angie - great to see you! No, I personally don't think we should make this any easier. We DO need to focus and grab the reward, imho. The guidelines you mentioned last week were right on target!

Reporting in..I got all 4 points today. I got the extra exercise by getting up during commercials and doing some WATP moves along with "stepping" for awhile after my walk. (Up and down the porch step) Eating was really easy for a change today...maybe my body is "getting" that I am doing it some good. :)

3 points in,,can't do the exercise...lol like physically if i can barely walk while shopping for shoes,,,I know I can't exercise. So vitamins, water and food.
And whom ever said they are working for a new mouse,,,good idea,,,I need one too. So heres for a new mouse. |

Didn't do the exercise...as I'm feeling really awful. It's not an illness feeling...it's a blah feeling. Make any sense? And I agree....I think this challenge is perfect AS IS.:D Otherwise...it wouldn't be a challenge. Angie...so glad to see you!!!:hug: Off to check chitchat. |
I am joining the 3 point for Day one group--no exercise for me either--worked OT and didn't make it home in time to do a workout before the gym closed at 7:30. Too mentally exhausted to do anything at home--vegged out on sofa with DH and went to bed early!!

PS: I agree--the challenge is good the way it is--if it is too easy there is no incentive to do it right!!

Hi! I'm going to try and get the same thing in today. Try for the same all week and then change it a little next week.
Exercise= 1pt. 40oz of water= 1pt. veggies or fruit= 1pt. Vitamin= 1pts. I did my WATP today and boy....my upper body is outta shape!:o So I changed my exercise to any exercise instead of 30mins. Now...if I hop on the gazelle this week....I'll go for 30mins. I'll post my total later on today! |
Yesterday was a good day and I got all 4 pts.! :carrot: So far today I did my exercise (3 mile walk at the park), took my vitamins and have 2 1/2 bottles of water down.
Marti...which WATP did you do? But, yeah, you do get a full work out with those. I haven't done mine in a while though since starting It Figures...I get my arms and legs worked out there, ouch! Never liked or did squats but I am loving them. I too like the challenge as is. Trying to think what I will reward myself with. :chin: Mon=4 pts. Tues.= |
Another day down but I only got 3 points today. I didn't get my walk in. I actually feel like I got more than my share of exercise, but since 1 point was to be for walking I am not going to count it. I was up and down the attic stairs for 3 hours. Really worked up a sweat.

I got all 4pts yesterday!!! Almost didn't get the veggies in...but I did!!:carrot:
7pts. total. Same thing w/one change. Exercise= 1pt. 40oz of water= 1pt. dairy product/calcium pill= 1pt. Vitamin= 1pts I don't get enough calcium...so I need to make a point to drink or eat some kind of dairy product or take a calcium pill. I also changed my reward. I want to get new workout pants. They have some on a discount rack at walmart...about $5!! I can afford that! Just gotta get my points! |

Wed. points were 4 again. I did so great...and I am not hungry anymore between meals. My plan allows 200 calories for snacks throughout the day. I didn't even use them Wed. I am a little nervous about today as we are going to Friday's for lunch. I looked at the menu and they have some good choices...just hope I can stick with my plan.

I have been doing a similar goal system on my own...but this sounds more fun! I have a calendar that I put X's on now they will be points. 1 for exercise, 1 for eating clean, 1 for water....now I will add the last one for vitamins also. I put in 25 cents for my X's (points) each week and then use them when I have enough for a pedicure and manicure....I stopped putting in actual quarters because the boys tend to borrow from the jar for snacks at the pool and rec center so I am using marbles now...I bought two clear glass jars from a resale shop and put pictures of a water bottle, tennis shoes and a tiny food journal on the outside...that's where all the marbles start out and on the other glass jar I have fun stickers of flip flops and feet and little dots in all the colors I get my nails painted in. I have the exact number of marbles it takes for a pedicure and manicure....when the right jar is full of marbles it's off to the nail place! The boys don't really care for the marbles...hehehehehe. A good friend of mine is a WW leader in Spokane, WA and the X's calendar was her idea. I thought it was silly until I started doing it and actually watching the marbles go from one jar to the other. It's kinda fun to get to move them and watch the right jar fill up!! My kids also have marble jars...for chores outside of their rooms. We have a dry erase board in the kitchen and I write things I would like to have done around the house and how many marbles they are worth...it just kills the boys when something has been on the board for a couple of days and I end up doing it. I just erase the chore and no one gets the marbles, but it makes them quicker the next time to just GET IT DONE!

Thurs=1 pt. so far...today is my free day since getting on my M-W-F schedule for It Figures and walking the other days. So, 1 pt. for my vitamins and will only get another for my water because had errands to run and the eating was way off. Having pizza for dinner tonight so not going to get better. But the water will be drank and it will be a 2 pointer day. Still not so bad. M-T-W=12 pts. |
Okay...I did okay on eating then didn't get to walk due to a thunderstorm. I did about 20 minutes of WATP before getting company. So I will take 3 points today.
Total = 14 Having the garage sale Fri. and Sat. so I am not expecting to walk, but will try real hard on the food. |
Alex - I've heard of the marble reward system - glad that's working for you. Anything to keep the crumbsnatchers away from the quarters, right? LOL
Thursday - 3 points for a subtotal of 13. I think I can get through tomorrow and Saturday ok, but Sunday will be a challenge. That's when I'm having our Memorial Day party. |

Wanted to report my points for yesterday..... Zero. Zero!!!! Can you believe that? Not even a vitamin?? What in the world?? I was so busy yesterday and by the time we got home I just wanted to relax and just plain didn't think of what I hadn't done yet. Today is a new day..... So total so far:10pts. |

Friday-1 pt so far...food is coming along, as is the water but didn't exercise today because of a horrible headache. The last thing I want to do when my head hurts is jump around. Was also feeling a little naseous for some reason. 14 pts. total so far not counting today. |
Oops...Bad day here also. I will take 2 points for my liquids and short exercise. Didn't get the walking and although I didn't have snacks or large portions I ate food that was not OP for me. (fried chicken) So I won't take the OP points.

I was so busy with the sale that I didn't over eat or snack. That helps the points. But I also didn't walk or exercise. I did get plenty of liquids due to the HOT and HUMID day. ugh!
