Katiecat--that salad sounds yummy!! I can't say if the Vitamin B complex will help or not--I know it seems to help my stress level when I remember to take them--maybe I need something for my memory....
Marti--I'd like a good lowfat recipie for onion soup myself--I love almost any soup you can think of but that's one of my tops. Cristina--I don't think I'd wear a thong either even if I lost 100 lbs--I got Sue Grafton's "S is for SIlence" and Fit After 40 and "Natural Highs" on how depleted we really are on vitamins and how it affects us--very interesting!! Michelle ma belle--hi there!! fried and salty are my things--got me some Mrs Dash Friday--trying to cut back on the salt shaker see if that helps any. Jane--hope you are having a good day--I am thinking we are going to have to send a search party to Canada to find Angelia!! Hope everyone has a great day!! Back to cleaning for me!! |
Jules ~ I LOVE Mrs. Dash! Last year when I lost my 40 pounds, that was the only seasoning I used, but it is so spendy for such a small bottle. I still use it though, because of no sodium and I love the different flavors, especially the chicken flavor is my most favorite!;)
|
Michelle ma belle-I ended up getting regular and a southwest chipolte.
|
Hiya ladies,
Angelia - hope you're having a good weekend. How are you feeling now that you're back at work? Was last week your first week back? I lose track of time, so forgive me if that's not right. I sure do miss you around here. Katie - aww, thanks for the recipe - I'll go check it out. In the meantime, I ended up making regular apple crisp. You can see on the Pointer Sistas thread how that worked out. :o I'm glad your supervisor has found some light duty for you. Hope your bladder infection is better. Michelle - counting calories is really about the same as counting points, except we get more food if we eat more fiber, and less if we eat too much fat. As long as you focus mainly on healthy eating most of the time, I think that will work out just fine for you. Sue - so your DD will probably visit you in Sept? Will she have the hysterectomy in Indy? I wish I had taken more pictures than I did. Even with a modular home, there was so much actual construction going on, and the landscaping alone was worth taking pictures. Marti - sorry you have to work Mem. Day. But you could do like we're doing, and celebrate it on Sunday. Neal's brother Paul comes up from near New Orleans every year at this time and but he goes to Deborah's family on Monday, so we do our thing on Sunday. Actually, I like that best, so then I can just goof off and eat leftovers on Monday, lol. Julie - how'd the kids like the concert? Pretty smart of them to take the Metro after they drove part way. I bet the traffic would be horrible. I've never been to DC, but would like to go someday. Cristina - glad you're having fun with Josh. We always have melons right out our backdoor. Literally. I had to take Neal to the ER last night. He got smacked right on the eyeball with one of the branches from a bush he was moving from the old house, and you should see his eye. Ewww. The white of it is all bloody. The good news is, it isn't even scratched - only a broken blood vessel. But it sure looks gross. Today was relaxing, and I've been like a slug all day. But you know, it really makes a person feel worse when we don't get any exercise. I always feel much better after a work out of some kind. Is anyone else going to watch the 2 hour finale of Desperate Housewives? Have a good evening ladies. |
Katie - thanks for the recipe! I printed it out for the next time. Usually, we have it in the fall, but my Katie asked for it as a special dish for when she got home from WDW.
|
Good evening. I also was pretty lazy today. Was just changing beds and doing laundry. I did cook a roast and fixins' for dinner. Got in my walk and otherwise kind of took it easy. DH was at the lot all day so I had alone time.
Jane- No, DD is having the surgery in CA and I will try to go out there to be with her and help with the family. I envy you being at the landscaping stage. I can't even seem to get the cabinets and paint colors picked out. I HAVE to pick the cabinets in the morning.....no more procrastinating. Michelle, Jules and anyone else who is looking in....hope you had a nice week-end and had sunshine as we did here. Isn't it a shame that we all have to clean house? No maids for any of the JL's? :) Oh..*note to self, try Mrs. Dash* |
Hello Girls...
Michelle--I've been thinking about getting up earlier than I have been just to make more time for "ME" :D . Do things that I need to do such as get in my exercise. If I have other things that need done before work...I tend to do that and forget the exercise. I can't continue doing that!! Tomorrow will be my first WATP day. Getting up a little early for that. Jules--I LOVE potato soup. But....haven't figured out how to make it more health friendly. So I don't make it that often. It's one of our favorite Winter soups around here. One soup I have been wanting to try is Pumpkin soup....have you ever tried it?? Sounds good.....may try it this fall. Jane--Jhanai & I took some flowers (plastic from Walmart) up to Grandma's yesterday. She won't be w/me on Memorial Day so she wanted to make sure that we put something up there for her. Poor Neil!! That sounds misearbly painful. Thank goodness he didn't hurt it more than that. Eyes are just something you don't want to hurt you know? Sue--I have to agree w/you...it is a real shame that none of us have maids!! How exciting to be able to pick colors and cabinetry for your home!! Can't wait to see the final product!! Alex--Hello and welcome. Looking forward to getting to know you more! Angie, Katie, and all the others.....hello and how are you?? Ok.....I'm going to go close the first challenge thread and start the second week. Chat w/you all in the morning!! |
Morning All!
This should be an interesting 2 days here. Not sure why I am here when I have to be packed & leave at 5am on Wed morning! I am nuts! :dizzy: Oh my gosh I hope they change the forecast! They are still calling for Tstorms & showers while we are up there UGH. :( One of the mothers said it was her fault, it always rains when she goes on trips so I told her to stay home LOL Jules -- Lordy I hear that all over the news -- I cannot believe they are going to search the entire farm for his remains. I personally would let it rest already unless of course he was family. But still.... Jane -- did you find that recipe? sounds yummy! Michelle -- I LOVE chinese -- pork fried rice is the best! That & general tso's -- oh yum. Katie -- I hope you feel better - I have only had one of those once and once was enough, I know you must be miserable. oh Panera Bread. (ok bread in general LOL) --- I love this place! Have you tried the strawberry salad? It is fabulous! Of course all of the no-no muffins & chocolate pastries are out of this world as well. I still have a GC from Christmas I have yet to use for there. The cinniman raisin bread is to die for as well when you toast it. Sue -- did you get your cleaning done? I have a closet that I have put off for months now -- it is pretty scary. Of course it is my closet so I just keep shutting that door LOL Cristina -- Have a fabulous time with Josh home, I hope it goes by slow enough & not too fast - of course the best times always fly by quickly don't they? Enjoy the moments! I will check in as much as I can. My boss has decided to take 3 weeks off (got the message this morning) and the advisor's father past away so she is off to OH and will be back next week. So it is just me & the new girl until next Tues. Well of course it will be just her after Tues as I am outta here & off to Mackinaw. Somebody send me an electric shocker to stay away from that fudge! :frypan: LOL I will try to this of a pan hitting my head when I walk by those shops! Have a fabulous morning! |
Marti--I love your new avater. I work Mon-Thurs and have a three day weekend which is great. I have been seriously stressed about the workload that is being dumped on me & my downsized area. I have been considering applying to a credit card company in the area which if I can get the same position I have it is $1.00 more an hour just to start though it would probably mean a day/shift change. It would be hard to go back to a 5 day week after being on the four day one for the last eleven years. It may be the fact that I have been in the same job for eleven years also.
Michelle ma belle-I had my right ovary removed in 1995 due to a cyst the size of a lemon wrapped around it--I wanted a hysterectomy then. I had to have a D&C this past fall. I may talk to my doctor again and see about getting the procedure done--I don't want any more kids and I am miseravle at my TOM. Sue--sounds like you have been one busy lady with all the pictures and the sale items. Jane--the kids taking the metro was the best idea--that is what DS & I always do when we go down to tour the museums--He did mention we needed to do it again before it gets too hot--he wants to go see the newest Native American one. That's something that we do together. Crisitina--I am enjoying S is for Silence and I got a book called Natural Highs--talking about how depleted we are in vitamins and how it affects how we function!! Katie--hope your feeling better--I hate when my knees or neck aches. Angelia--do we have to send out the Mounties to do a search for you!!! Robin--hope you survive at work okay--i can relate to you!! Well I guess my break is over--I have been interrupted by calls and people so many times it's hard to tell...that's the thing with trying to hit the internet on breaks and lunch is that I am here at my desk people want to ask me questions--even when I am eating. |
Happy Monday, ladies,
Alex - if you're reading this, you found the right place! Just jump in and tell us more about yourself. If you have any problems getting in, please PM me, and I'll talk you through it, ok? Sue - I've got a roast and the fixin's on my menu list for later this week. Great minds think alike, right? tee hee OIC about the DDs surgery. It will be such a relief for her to know you're coming out there. One mistake I made with the cabinets is getting some where the doors open only 90 degrees, instead of 180 degrees. I like the doors to fold flat when they're open and the new ones don't do this. But I never even thought about it until it was too late. Yep, our landscaping is coming right along, thank goodness. Marti - love the avatar, toots. Hey, I also love potato soup, and have a recipe for light, 1 serving. If you want it, let me know. Awww, your grandma is smiling down at you and Jhanai, Marti. Thank you for the kind words about Neal. Robin - oh dear, I hope the weather cooperates with you for your trip. You'll have fun anyway, though. Step Away From the Fudge, lol. That would be very bothersome to me, too. You could do what I used to do - use aversion therapy. Picture roaches crawling over, under and throughout the fudge. Ewww! Doesn't sound so yummy now, does it, lol. Jules - I own every Sue Grafton book written, lol, and my Mary is hooked on them, too, now. She's up to J, I think. When Neal and I plan a trip to DC, you'll have to give us some insider tips. He's been there before, but just did the well-known places. Angelia - where oh where are you, friend? YOU ARE MISSED!!!! Hello to anyone else reading this. Well ladies, my goal for the day is to give myself a pedicure. The weather has been rainy, and not all that warm, so I've slacked off on my feet. :o We're supposed to have temps in the 90s soon, and I'm going to break out the sandals. Also, I'm going to be pricing treadmills soon. Probably tomorrow, because I have to go to town then anyway. Although I don't really like the idea of putting one in the bedroom, I'm going to put my health above that. And I have a big TV in there, which is a good thing. Have a good day, Jaded Ones! |
Hello everyone...just getting started and reading previous posts...figured I would just jump in and learn as I go.
I work from home so I am always on the computer. I do tech support for a computer software company so I have to be infront of it all day. I have been over weight for WAY to long and my motivation came as sort of a suprise to me anyway...I divorced over 7 years ago and started raising my boys alone..at the ages of 3 and 6 months. I gained so much weight eating fast food and feeling sorry for myself. I ws actually not all that worried about the weight because it was going to keep my from having to deal with dating...I was hiding behind it. Then I moved to a very small town...got involved with the church and met David. David and I have been dancing around each other for almost 6 years...if I am interested in dating he is not and then when he is I am not. Last week he called and ask me to get a babysitter..I looked completely stressed at church and he could tell I needed a night out. After dinner at his house he handed me a mechanics jump suit....not knowing what on earth for....he said get out of your clothes and into the suit....well anything that calls for me getting out of my clothes is JUST NOT PRETTY...so I hesitated and then he ask me "do you trust me?" so out of the clothes and into the monkey suit I went....he handed me a flash light and a can of bug spray...he sprayed my feet the only skin showing was through my sandals...so imagine if you will I looked pretty silly...flippy sandals and a monkey suit....we start walking and talking and soon were across the highway at his friends house (who is gone to visit his daughter) we walk around the end of the house and that's when I see the candles, the cooler and the HOT TUB....he tells me I can go in in the suit or all natural...well natural is not pretty with 100 + pounds to lose....so I hesitate..he said I love you just the way you are...I melt..peel out of the suit and into the water for the best two and a half hours of wine and water that I have had in my life. We talked alot..even about my weight and it was incredible....he thinks I will get thin and healthy and guys will be crawling all over me, but I told him it will always mean more to me that he loves me now not just when I am thin....I started walking again after that night and now I am determined to lose this weight...and show him he was wrong...I don't want to be with anyone but him, but I have said so many times I am trying to lose it...I didn't say that this time...I am going to show him. Sorry to be long winded...feels pretty good to finally write that down somewhere!! You guys are so motivating....it's nice to have a place to talk! |
Alex - so glad to see that you made it. I loved your story about David accepting you no matter what your weight. Thanks for sharing that. You seem to be in a positive place with weight loss, and may want to jump in at the Pointer Sistas thread here, too. We award ourselves with up to 4 points (hence the name) a day, and assign them for wherever we feel the greatest personal need. Anyway, I'm happy you're here.
|
Welcome Alex!! Just jumping in is the best here--you'll get the hang of it in no time. You'll have to go up in the general chatter and in the lighten up threads with jokes and funny stories--there is one about living in TX--I printed off for my co-worker/friend while she is off on medical--she's originally from TX and a huge Cowboy fan.
Jane--I didn't read Sue Grafton until you mentioned her in the Book Thread--now I really like her--have you read any of the "Home repair is Homicide" books by Sarah Graves yet? Hi to everyone else--stopping in real quick at lunch!! |
Morning everyone...
I'm feeling pretty crappy this morning. I don't know why but I just feel "ugh". Must snap out of it!! Robin--Hope the weather clears up for your trip. Even if it's just to a light sprinkle! As Jane mentioned, you'll have lots of fun no matter what. Jules--I know how you would feel about going from a 4day a week job to a 5day a week. I am a former Sony worker...we worked 4 days on and had 4 days off. We worked 12hrs...but to me it was worth the 4days off. Now...I'm the 5day a weeker and only 2days off! (anyone feeling sorry for me yet?? :D ) And my DH, he also worked for Sony....now he's an Engineer for the RR and he's on call. Jane--I think my eyes are playing tricks on me!! I had to keep rereading your last sentence....I thought you were talking about putting a treadmill in your "BATHROOM"! I thought "wow..that's one HUGE bathroom!:dizzy: Alex--What a romantic guy that David is!! I just know you'll do great on your weightloss!! We're all here for encouragement and support. And as Jane mentioned...we have that challenge thread, feel free to join us on that! Hello to everyone else out there!! I need to post w/the pointer challenge and then maybe eat something that will make me feel better. I will check in possible before I leave for work or if not....definately afterwards. Hugs to all! |
Forgot.....
Yes Jane: Please post the single serving of potato soup!! :D |
