  • Amanda, I'm up for the exercise challenge. I sure need a boost with that.

Hi to all. I did 40 min at the gym last night and felt really good about it. Today is a kind of laid back day. I have my sister's kids while she works. Nicole (my 3 yr old baby) is having breathing problems again. So last night was a long almost sleepless night. We're doing breathing treatments and all that fun stuff. I just can't tell if its from allergies or if she actually has a virus. Probably both.

Back to the laundry monster lurking in the house. Gotta love that stuff...

    ~chris
  • Alisha: :hugs: We're just glad you and your family are safe! I have been reading some of the articles online about the damage from the tornadoes, and it just breaks my heart..

Chris: Sorry your daughter is sick again. Christian and Haleigh were both like she is. Its not so bad anymore, thank goodness...Hopefully she will do better as she gets older also.

So far I have 65 minutes logged for my exercise challenge. I did 20minutes of step aerobics yesterday and 45 mins Tae bo bootcamp today. I'm going to do my best to get a workout in tomorrow, but it all depends on how long it takes at the dr's office in the morning (gotta have my thyroid re-checked).

Anywho, I've got to get off here and get some laundry done. Have a great evening!
  • Amanda...my hubby has thyroid problems too. Are you on meds?

I logged 40 min for exercise yesterday. Was going to try to get some in today but time just flew by with all I had to do....I'll try to do better tomorrow.

I'm pooped and need to get some sleepies. Night girls and see you in the morning.

    Chris
  • Good morning ladies!

Alisha: Sorry to hear about the tornadoes. My hubby was in TN this weekend for his daughter's soccer tournament and he was telling me about all the bad weather and the damage. Hope everything is going well for you, keep us updated.

Amanda: Good job on the exercise. How are the kiddos lately?

Chris: Sorry to hear about your little one. Hope she gets over it soon.

Where is everyone else? I guess everyone is way too busy exercising to post lately. I hope so, anyway!

    Have a great day, ladies!

  • can I still join? iam late as always lol

    Mom of 3 (14,11,9) and a Wife.

My hubby LOVES to eat and he is a healthy 315 lbs. Yup HEALTHY we had all the tests done and bloodwork everything is good ?? but he is also trying to loose weight , he always been a husky type so for him to go down too where the docs think he should be ..isnt going to happen. he is shooting for 280.He works construction so a lot of hrs and LATE nights....
So I have to make big home cooked meals,,,,for him and the kids. So there is my first battle....I gotta cook it,,,so then here is problem # 2 controlling my portions...THATs my BIG problem....PORTIONSS!!!! I never had to watch them till last 2 years. I was a 125 in 03.....I am now 166
I been using my treadmill for about 3 weeks now every 2 days. Startet out at 2,10 miles for 30 minutes. Now do 3,10 miles in 50 minutes with incline and jogging. I dont have a system I follow....if I notice I slow down I just jogg some to get me going again. I also did curves and will have to quit that due to lack of GASMONEY!!!! tried share a ride, but we live really in a remote place....so I work on my treadmill . Anyone else here use a treadmill? If so how many days are u on it? I heard differnt things and really dont know wich one to believe anymore. Is every day for 3 Miles to much for youre Body? I heard u should let ure body recover one day.....so now Iam on a day on and a day off......but I feel guilty if I dont use it every day lol..

I dont really denie myself anything, just watch my portions and no pop .....

Cynthia: Delta pilots are going to strike? OMG please don't say that we are flying delta in June to go to Florida to see my family......THAT WOULD REALLY SUCK!! Where did you hear this??

    Alisha
  • Good afternoon ladies! I just came back from the doc's office. She said i seem to be healthy and told me to keep up the weight loss effort. Also I had her confirm that I have IBS. I have known for a couple of years but never bothered to mention it to her (shame on me, I know) So she put me on Levbid to control the diarhea. The pharmacist said that it would make me drowsy, but he also said that it definitely works, cause he's on it for the same thing, LOL. Now THAT is reassuring! No exercise today, too sore from Billy's boot camp (but not as sore as last time, so I am doing better!)

Alisha, Sorry you're feeling under the weather. Take care of yourself

Jasmin, Welcome!! I can relate to the big dinners. My DH worked in Roofing for a couple of years and I cooked the same way for him. He's a big guy also. Right now he weighs 270, but is trying to lose, as he has high cholesterol, and some arthritis in his knees. I look forward to seeing you on the boards!

Well Ladies I have to get going, I've got some house work i need to get done before I go get Christian from school.
    Have a Great Day!
  • Just a quick welcome to Jasmin...

And a group post for everyone. Nicole is better today. I'm back to my problem with my ear again. Very painful in my neck and throat. I wish my doctor appt would hurry up and get here. I think my allergies aggrevate it and stuff.

ANyhow, for the challenge of 150 min of exercise...I got 40 in on Monday, and 80 in today. I'm going to try for that 150. I haven't met a challenge for awhile.

Off to the bath. Need to soak my aching muscles.

    Chris
  • Good Morning ladies!

Chris, I'm glad Nicole is feeling better. And hopefully that ear problem of yours will clear up soon. for the exercise!

I have to go mow my MIL's yard today(with a push mower), so I guess that will be my exercise...I forget how many calories that burns per hour but I think its like 300 or so, and she has a BIG yard...I may meet my exercise goal today, LOL.

Anywho, I hope you are all doing well. I'll check back in this evening. Have a great day!
  • Good afternoon Sahmmies!

Welcome, Jasmin! I use a treadmill too. Well, I'm on hiatus for a little while longer while our garage gets cleared out and I can actually see my treadmill and Bowflex! But I used to use it every weekday and sometimes on the weekends. I walked for an hour at a time, at about 3 mph. Lately I had been running for awhile (maybe 10 minutes at a time at 4mph) but still doing a full hour. I don't think using it every day hurts you. However, when it comes to weight training you ARE supposed to give your muscles a rest (i.e., do arms one day and legs the next). Welcome and good luck with your weight loss goals!

Hi Alisha! I'm really achy too, lately. I'm just chalking it up to being out of shape and not getting nearly enough sleep. The puppy wakes up every 2 hours and I have to let her out so she won't pee in her crate. But I can't blame it on her, because I usually wake up every 2 hours to pee, too!

As far as the Delta pilots, they're not officially on strike although they are picketing Delta headquarters. The arbitrator is supposed to have a final decision by Saturday, although there is talk of that deadline extending. I really hope they don't do it, because everyone seems to think that will kill Delta. Pretty selfish, if you ask me. I just tried to add a link to this morning's article from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but it didn't work like I thought it would. Check out ajc.com and there will probably be a story right at the top.

Hi Amanda! I know what you mean about the lawn mowing. Last summer, when I started to seriously lose weight and joined 3fc, my hubby was out of town for 4 months and I had to mow our lawn by myself. A HUGE lawn and all we had was a push mower. I think that really helped me get a lot of extra exercise. There were some days when I would mow for 1-1/2 hours in the morning, get on the treadmill in the afternoon, and take the Sir for a walk in the evening. No wonder I lost 26 pounds, and haven't lost a THING lately! But now in our new house (with an even bigger lawn) we have a riding mower (it came with the house!). But it's in the shop for preventative maintainence and I used the push mower yesterday for the first time in months.... I am SO out of shape!

Hi Chris! Glad your little one is feeling better. Sorry to hear about your ear and your allergies. I don't really have allergies, but Spring in Georgia will aggravate anyone's nostrils and throat, so I can relate!

Ladies, I wanted to share a recipe I made up yesterday. I've been trying to make pasta salad every week, but I'm getting rather bored with it so I tried something new. It's Greek-inspired pasta salad. I used the normal Rotini pasta, and instead of adding Fat-Free Italian dressing, I added Greek dressing. Now, it wasn't fat-free and I just looked at the nutrition label and almost fainted, but I'm sure we can find fat-free Greek dressing somewhere. Anyway, I cut up the following and added it to the pasta & dressing: Greek olives (or you could probably use Kalamato olives), sun-dried tomatos from a jar, fresh tomato, fresh cucumber. Then I added crumbled Feta cheese. It is very good if I say so myself. If I could just find the ff dressing I think it would be pretty healthy, too. Enjoy!

  • Delta strike averted
Woo-hoo! I heard the news when it broke this morning that the Delta strike was "averted". I'm not sure if that means cancelled or just postponed, but either way it's good news that the pilots and the union decided against throwing their hissy fit.
  • Good morning ladies.
I hope everyone is doing well. Dont forget to weigh in! I lost 1 pound this week and am now at 197.6. I hope to reach 195 by the last day of the month.

I didnt meet my exercise challenge this week. But, I plan on really kicking but this week.

Cindy, Glad to hear the strike isnt going to happen. I never did get to do the mowing. The spark plug is bad on the mower and I'm waiting for DH to get a new one...(i'll probably be waiting a good while, LOL)

I hate to run, but I have to get the kids dressed to go easter egg hunting this morning... I'll check in later.

Have a great day, and HAPPY EASTER!
  • Good morning ladies!

Amanda: Woo-hoo for losing a pound! Good for you, keep it up!

Where are the rest of the Sahmmies? Maybe everybody was busy because it was Easter? Please check in again soon; we all need as much support as we can get!

Well, I'm up a couple pounds but it's been several weeks since I weighed. I'm finally getting serious again. I hope everyone else is doing well.

Talk to you soon. Cindy B.
