  • mtp~I did nurse all three of mine, but I was the exception to the rule. I gained while I was nursing my last. The only suggestions I have is to eat as clean as possible, control portion size and resist the urge to eat everything in sight...tho if we could do that it would be easy to take the weight off! I also suggest the pregnancy and nursing fourums in the dieting with obstacles section. THey are very informative and super supportive with the nursing.

Chris~so glad to hear things are going smothly with SIL, will continue to pray for the family.

Exercising with little ones is not easy, I tried doing the thing at home, but they only got in the way. If they are still stroller sized I suggest some nice long walks. It is a start. DH and I finally broke down this year and got a gym membership at a gym that has excellent child care, and that has helped the exercise so much. It is a little on the expensive side (and straining the budget a little) but if not for it I would not beable to get in and exercise as much as I would like...though sometimes I still don't go...but I am getting back into it.

I am sort of looking forward to weigh in tomorrow...I was down a pound unofficially today, then TOM came, so I am hoping that even with bloating I will be down. good luck to all, and I am so glad this fourum is back up and running!!!

    Happy Monday all!!!
  • ups wife - Thank you so much for the nursing forum tip! I looked for a forum directed at nursing moms, but I didn't think to look in that section.
  • your so welcome! I lurk through there sometimes, they have a ton of great info!

Well, I am oficially down a pound! I will update my ticker later have to run off to the gym, I have to do something to fight these cramps!

    Later chicas!
  • Hi ladies! Can I join on in too? I know you thought this thread was dead, but we can all pick it back up right???

I am a SAHM to Carter who is 22 months old! I need to loose this extra weight. I put on almost 60lbs while I was pg with him. I am back to my pre-pg weight but I want to go lower. I just dont want to gain anymore! haha. But I need to get rid of this thing that is hanging around my mid section. It is more than a potbelly.

  • I know what you mean about the old belly-that's definitly my issue as well-people have even told me that i don't need to lose weight and than i show them my "problem area" and they just sort of do the "oh-have you tried sit ups?" I hate that kind of excercise and i hear it doesn't do much untill you burn off the top layer of uck anyways-have you been doing anything specific that you enjoy-walking is my best option with my wee ones-pushing the double stroller seems to provide a good workout!!
  • Hi to the Newbies!!!

I'll introduce myself if I haven't already. My name is Chris, sahm of 3 daughters. Tiana is 13, Kayla is 7, and Nicole is 4. I work part time and go to school fulltime and as of late I've been super busy with helping my SIL who just recently got out of the hospital. Complications with her diabetes and having a MERSA infection resulted in the amputation of her lower leg. So I've been her go to girl for awhile and taking her where she needs to go and where she wants to go.

Hey ELLEN!!! WTG girlie! I'm glad one of us is losing weight. It certainly ain't me. How's hubby and the kiddos?

Well gotta finish eating my bean soup and then go get Tiana from basketball practice. My latest in errands is her. Basketball practice every night along with the other 2 having dance classes too still. YIKES!!!!

  • Remember me?
Good morning, ladies! It's been a long time since I've been here. I'm so glad to see our Slimmin' Sahmmies thread still exists. How is everyone doing?

I'm okay. I'm up several pounds since the last time we've talked. But I'm back exercising and eating right, so I hope those pounds (and more!) come off in no time. I'm very motivated right now.

I'm still doing the treadmill and will take up the Bowflex again this week. As far as eating, we've started eating vegetarian a couple weeks ago. Not vegan, though, that would be too difficult! It's going well and I've tried out some really good recipes so far.

What's new with everyone else? What eating plans and exercising is everyone else doing? Does everyone weigh on the same day? I plan on weighing on Saturdays again, but if everyone here is weighing on another day I'll switch.

Well, time to finish my coffee and go outside with my little guy to play while the weather is still decent.

    - Cindy B.
  • Cindy!!!! Long time no hear. I'm the illiterate group member here...but what is the difference between vegetarian and vegan. I kind of remember but not all of it.

Sorry to hear your up with your weight but you'll be back down in no time. As for me, I think I'm permanently stuck on the same number. No changes but I can't say I've really been trying too hard either. Not enought time in the day to take care of everything else, let alone me. I know...I know...I need to make me a priority. That's just hard for me to justify to myself. I'm more of a helper I guess.

Okay back to the homework grind.

    chris
  • Back again!
Hi, I am Carafre, SAHM to a 2 yr. old boy & my almost 4yr old girl! I was on this thread earlier but didn't post any when I hit a major wall in my weight loss efforts.

I have finally managed to gain control over my eating habits. I started running and weight training on the bowflex. We'll see how it goes.

Cindy & Chris - So nice to see you guys here!!!

    Hello to all!

    carafre
  • Carafre-I hit a wall with my weight loss too. Glad to have you back. I almost disappeared too. If it weren't for the new people who posted...I would have been gone. THANK YOU NEWBIES!!!!

I've been thinking about when I was on a different stay at home mom thread a couple years ago and we had a member come up with a different challenge each day, such as drinking 8 glasses of water, eating 5 servings of fruit/veggies, or 15 min of exercise, stretching, crunches...you name it. It was anything weight loss and health related. It kept me motivated day to day. I had a mini goal I had to meet which gave me that little extra push to work on eating better and exercising more...just staying on track. So what do you all think??

    Chris
  • Chris it sounds like a good idea. I am in with you. Sorry I f I haven't posted in awhile, got a little busy, and then I have been sick all weekend. It seems to be getting a little better now, so I am hoping I am up for a trip to the gym tomorrow. DH has also not been well, and his asthma is acting up, I may have to bring him to the doc. We will play it by ear as always. Good luck ladies, I am hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow, although with this cold I have hardly eaten anything...
  • Ellen, I haven't been feeling very good either. I'm not sure if its my allergies or what but I have been having these weird attacks that are alot like a panic attack but not quite the same. I can't breathe and this odd sensation washes over my body and after it does that for awhile, it just disappears and then I have huge headache and my sinuses feel totally blocked. That's why I assume its my allergies. I did do something similar when I was taking sulfasalizine for my RA. That caused liver toxicity and my liver counts were triple of the norm. So I had to quit everything and not take any medicine for almost 3 months. I also think my hubby gave me hi stomach bug. My tummy hurts and I just have that queasy feeling.

So for our challenge tomorrow should we start out simple. I say our goal is to

Exercise for a minimum of 10 mins and eat 2 pieces of fruit.

    Chris
  • OK Chris~ I will get right on the challange. Still feeling kind of icky so I am not going to the gym, but will get in a little exercise here at home. I have to run, have to get DS on the bus for school and take a shower before the gutter people get here. Have a great Monday!
  • I ate my fruit but don't think I'm going to get any moving in today. I feel absolutely YUCK today. My tummy says *blach* and my head is about the same. Kind of short of breath today but I'm going to try not to panic about it. That's all I need.

Check back later. I, like always have a ton of homework to do.

    Chris
  • Chris~Me too, I got the fruit in, but I started beeling nasty again. Short of breath, and coughing, so I decided to hold off on the extra exercise until tomorrow. I did clean the bathtub, and that is sort of like exercise. :P I have to run, slept horribly last night, then DD2 got up extra early thismorning. Plus the gutter people are supposed to start today, postponed from yesterday.

My goal for totday is to drink 64oz water/tea. Hope you feel better soon!
