Default Knitters?

I noticed someone posted for a quilting weight loss group (something I have always wanted to learn how to do, but sadly no one I know quilts) so I thought I'd see if we had any other knitters in this group! Again, hard to knit and eat!

Right you are LakeGirl. I do all those crafty things. Crochet is probably my favourite right this minute, but I go in spurts . . . who knows what I'll be doing by this time next month. Anything that keeps the hands busy (without involving food) is good.

Hi, LakeGirl. I do all sorts of crafts, but knitting is by far my favorite.
I have taught myself to knit, crochet, sew, embroider, quilt, etc. from books. Go to the library and check out some books on quilting. I learned from Georgia Bonesteel's books, but I am sure there are many good ones out there.

Hi all, are machine knitters welcome here??? I have been machine knitting for 2 years and love it. Someday I want to learn to knit by hand but I'm such an impatient person that taking a year to make a sweater that I make in 2 weeks would probably drive me nuts. But, there are all kinds of specialty stitches that I'd like to learn by hand that I can't do on the machine. Regardless, I love creating my own stuff. BTW, I also quilt (learned from a one evening class at Hancock Fabrics then a book). I'm not great at it, but I do love what I created.

Eating and craft work is tough. But then if I'm munchie I'll find the way.

Hi! Can't post all the time here as I am administrator for one thread and post all the time on another, but yep, I am a knitter. I just picked it back up after years and years though. Last year for Christmas I made 5 scarves, a hat, a pair of mittens, slippers, 2 baby blankets, booties and cap and started a sweater for myself. I even made a whole Harry Potter ensemble for my grandson last year for Christmas. I am now making a beautiful varigated aqua sweater for my sister for her birthday and trying to get my own sweater done. There is no way to eat and knit so it is a great weight loss tool as long you you don't put don't your knitting and take bites!

Hope you have lots and lots of posters to your group ladies! It has been fun talking with you and I will peep in and chat from time to time when I can.

Hi, I'm a knitter and crocheter, too. It does help to have your hands busy if you are dieting. Plus, who wants to get food on their nice yarn? I'm finishing up one of those purple fun fur scarves that I started Christmas last year and somehow lost track of. I got a really cute crochet poncho pattern off ebay and I have a knit afghan project that's calling to me.

Funny.. I'm the one who started the quilting thread, and I would love to learn how to knit. Every time I see a class offered it's either canceled or full Maybe we can combine and have a crafters thread..we all seem to do more then one thing anyway, and I would love to hear about new projects.

I love knitting! I like to make socks of late, mostly because they are a lot easier to lug around than sweaters.

OOhhhh - big knitter here - well, big in interest, very big in stature! I recently got into spinning my own yarn too. Sometimes it's the only thing that keeps me from shoving food in my mouth - can't knit/spin while eating!

I just started my program last Friday. Have been doing well - getting more into fitness (big move for me). I'm actually joining a gym with dh tomorrow. There is a gym in the same building as my dd's karate school so we thought we would work out while she is in class.

Looking forward to meeting more knitters!
