Hi everyone.

Just wanted to say hi. I'm actually excited because we might have an apartment. Yea. Now I just need to get a job and things would be really great. My dad actually found out about it. I guess it's the same apartment that he and my mom lived in when I was born. How weird is that. But he got her down to about 350/month and heat, water and garbage are included. I am so excited. I really hope we get it. I am going to look at it, but I will take it because I just want to get out of my parents hair and maybe this will work better for my diet ect.

Well, that's it. Totally stink on my eating. Seems like I am eating everything in sight or that I can find. I hate it, but the stress just kills me and I just can't seem to think straight. Wish me luck.

Hugs to all,
Annie

Annie:
Luck to you on the apartment! Sounds great, hope you get it. Let us know. I think once you get your own place you'll get yourself back on a good way of eating. Don't stress out too much. Keep us posted and once again - good luck!

EVERYONE!
Where are you all ??????? Come back! Come back! It's lonely in here!

Well, hope you all have a great Sunday .. and sure hope to hear from everyone SOON!

Yesterday was my weigh-in and it showed a gain of three pounds and I know that it can't possibly be fat weight. For some reason I seem to be retaining water so I'm upping the water intake and hopefully I can't knock this thing out now.

Evening all ... just a quick one here. Just got out of my hot tub - had a nice long hot soak and I feel greeeeeat!

Teahoney:
Don't fret too much about that 3 lbs gain - it's probably just a water gain like you said - hang in there, it'll come back off! I'm hanging at the same weight and I've been really trying!

OK .. off I go. get my jammies on and join my hubby at the table - we're working on a real killer of a jigsaw puzzle!

Later....

Default Hi Ya'll

I'm Becky Jo in northern Idaho (and a native Texan). I've been struggling with my weight since giving birth to my son 9 years ago at the age of 33. I thought I was fat in my 30s, but now that I'm in my 40s, it's like what the heck is happening to my body!?! It's not all bad news. I've lost 25 lbs. since January and continuing to lose 2-3 lbs. a week following a sensible (and realistic) diet and excercise program. Although I'm having success, I can see that I need support and encouragement from people with the same issues as me (well maybe not ALL of my issues). My husband is awesome and a great cheerleader for me, but it downright irritates me that he can cut out his 3rd helping of chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes and lose that extra 10 lbs. around the middle. Most of my girlfriends are thin and have no perception of what it's like to have a real weight problem even though one of them was complaining the other day that she couldn't zip her size 6 jeans (like I'm supposed to feel sorry for her).

I'm looking forward to getting to know the gals on this thread. It seems to me there's a lot of encouragment going on around here, and I'm anxious to get in on it.

Howdy Becky. Welcome to the group.

So I got the apartment and we get to move in this Saturday. I am going to get the key early so we can go in and do some cleaning before we do. No one has lived in it in a year so I want to freshen it up a bit so it feels clean. We don't have much to move in it, but it will be ours and we won't have to feel so uptight and constrained. I am nervous because it's just I want to be able to pay all the bills and do it on our own. I just don't to fall on my face.

Well, still looking for a job. I am hoping to find something soon. I just can't work 3rds because hubby is going to be starting 3rds next week after finishing up his training. It's hard because if I work 1st I have to have a babysitter and if I work 2nd I have to have someone watch her depending on how late I work because he has to be at work by 10 pm so he'll have to leave somewhere between 9:30 to 9:40. So much stress it makes me just want to eat and eat. Doesn't even matter if I am hungry. I just keep stuffing my face. Well, I am hoping the stress goes down to a minimum. Wish me luck.

Take care. Hope you are all having a good week.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

Boy did I fall off the wagon today! I've lost 30 lbs. since January by eliminating wheat from my diet and making sure the bulk of my carb intake is from complex carbohydrates. Thursday, my 7 year old daughter, her best friend and her mother, and I went to a British tea room for lunch (it's spring break here). I have to say it was a lovely place and we all had a lot of fun being "fancy". However, everything they served us was loaded to the hilt with simple carbs and as the saying goes, "When in Rome.....". Since we live in "Hooterville", we had to drive 45 minutes to the big city. After eating finger sandwiches, scones, and cake, I was almost in a coma by the time we got home. I'll admit, I've cheated a little here and there. I had to have a slice of my birthday cake, and have had one or two Krispy Kremes, but nothing too drastic. I was amazed at how doing such a big cheat made me feel almost drugged. Upon regaining consciousness, I realized that's how I used to feel almost every afternoon before I started eating healthy, and I don't like it. If that's not incentive to stay faithful to my new eating habits, I don't know what is. So for dinner I had 6 oz. of grilled salmon, a salad, and a small baked sweet potato with a drizzle of butter. Eating healthy is so satisfying (well, most of the time).

All in all, it was a pretty good day. I mentioned to the other mom that I was looking for a workout buddy/accountbility partner to join Curves with me. She was so excited because she'd been wanting to join. but didn't want to go alone. I need someone to guilt me into working out consistently, since I really don't like to exercise, or even sweat for that matter.

I hope everyone has a good weekend! Take care and God Bless!

Good morning everyone - wherever you all are!

Becky:
Good job on losing 30 lbs since January! You go girl. Don't get to down on your self for going off track for one day ... I'm sure by now you are back OP .. Good luck on joining Curves .. I'm like your mother - I would not like to do it alone. I would probably join if I had someone to join with me but I don't so guess I won't be joining. I'm bad on exercising .. I have the treadmill and need to get myself on it!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Default Hi guys here I am!

Boy I see that we have some new Wannabee's. That is great!

Danigirl-A great big welcome to you. I hope that you will stick around, this is a great group. As far as your lost and gained weight, that happened to me as well. I had lost a total of 43 pounds a few years ago and managed to gain all but 13 pounds back. I was pretty frustrated about that, but took things a step at a time and have managed to lost those 43 pounds again as of Wednesday's Weight Watchers meeting. So I am happy about that, but it took time and I just did my best and didn't try to crash diet or anything like that. So hang in there you are on your way. Hope you can come back and let us know how you are doing.

BeckyJo-Hello to you too, glad you decided to join our wonderful group. First of all congratulations on your 25 pound weight loss. That is a great accomplishment. All that hard work you have done has paid off big time. I know the feeling about your husband, my husband is the same way, all he has to do is cut our his Little Debbies and ice cream at night and he loses weight. Not fair at all. Don't worry about when you fell off your program, just keep doing like you did and jump right back on the bandwagon. I go to Curves and just love it so by all means join. I didn't sign up with anyone else, but I have met so many nice ladies there.

CJ-I hope you had a great anniversary, where did you guys end up going to celebrate that wonderful event? How did your tax preparation go? Are you getting lots of $ back, I sure hope so. That would be nice, than you can take it to the casino and win big.

AnnieFannie-Congratulations on your new apartment, that is so cool that it is the same on you lived in before. How neat is that? I know you are glad to have a place to call your own. Just hang in there on the job search, you will get one and everything will work out, but I have been know to do some stress related eating myself. Just do the best you can, that's all you can do.

Misty-I find when I crave some chocolate, the best thing I can do is just have that chocolate. But I make it a really good grade of chocolate if I can, like Godiva or at least Hershey's. As far as the popcorn cravings, I buy those individual bags of popcorn and they usually do the trick for me.

teahoney-I'll bet the weight gain is water related. I find that when I don't drink my water like I should-up I go! Try to drink lots and lots of water and that should do the trick. You are doing really great I think.

Me! I have been doing great. I had been wanting to post sooner, but have been so busy working at H & R Block. But I am finally done as of the other day. I am presently at my Air Force daughter's, Tracy's place in Illinois with my other daughter, Kelly and son, Dan. Now if we just had our other Air Force son, Alan in California here, we would be all together. We are having fun and I am enjoying the kids. Hubby, Ken is home watching brother, Jerry this weekend. Since he is on oxygen, it is hard to travel with him. But he is good hands I know.

I have been doing great weight wise, I have been working really hard on my WW program and am happy to be down once again 43 pounds. Things are starting to fit me again. I have been going to Curves almost every day and it is finally starting to pay off, but it has been a long time coming after going to my WW meetings so long and just going up and down.

But the best news of all is that next Friday, April 7th, my husband and I will going on our first cruise. I am so excited, our 4 wonderful grown kids gave it to us for our 30th anniversary, which was on Dec 13th. I keep forgetting to tell you about it. They all presented us our gift certificate on New Years Eve, and were we ever surprised too. I started crying, cause I really didn't ever expect that from them. We are going on a 7 day cruise to Montego Bay, Jamaica, Georgetown, Grand Cayman Island than to Coumezel and Costa Maya, Mexico. We are going a couple of days early to see my brother in Boca Raton, Florida so we will be going out of Fort Lauderdale. Than we will come back and spend Easter with him and my sister in law. I am getting so excited and still can't believe we are going. I have been going through my things for things to wear on the cruise, before I buy anything. Since I have been losing weight, my clothes are fitting so much better and I have also been tanning for the last few months at where I work out. Many people I talked to who have been on cruises have suggested I should get a base tan at least, so I won't burn like a lobster in the hot sun there, be miserable and have my trip ruined. I have never ever went to a tannning bed before so this is a new experience for me. I usually just stay white all year long. LOL

My poor husband, Ken, besides what happened to his hand a few weeks ago when he went through that surgery to repair some tendons he had cut, something else happened. He called me while I was at work last Saturday and said to come home because he thinks he broke his baby toe on the ottoman. Sure enought, after the x-ray, it was indeed broken. So now he has a splint on his right hand, where he had the surgery and on his left foot there is a velcro shoe type shoe, they just taped the baby toe to the next one that's all they can do. He wanted to cancel the trip, but I talked him into going anyways. We just won't do real active things, but we will still have a good time. I guess I had better keep him away from the rail at least, or tie a rope around his leg, with all the bad luck he has been having lately. Talk to you guys later, have a good weekend everyone.

Sassy Sharon

The Spring time change is always a difficult switch for me, but it will be nice to have more sunshine during my waking hours. Life is certainly filled with trade-offs! What we choose to put in our mouths is no exception!

I'm going to join Curves this afternoon! I went shopping on Saturday since my clothes are getting baggy on me. The plus size clothes are a little too big and the misses clothes are a little too snug (a big improvement from the sz. 20 I used to wear. Hopefully, getting into a regular workout routine will help me cross the line into the misses department, not to mention get rid of the "jigglies".

Have a great Monday everybody! Becky Jo

Default Goodbye all!

I just wanted to post and tell everyone goodbye. We are packing and getting ready to leave on our cruise tomorrow morning. I can't wait and am so excited and am happy to be finally able to be going at long last.

Ken's foot is better, in fact we went out to Walmart tonight and he got a sandal with velco strapping that he is comfortable in and he says it looks much better than that stupid shoe velcro type thingie the hospital gave him when he broke his toe a couple of weeks ago. His hand is getting better too and he still has the splint on, but he will be doing his therapy on his own on the ship. He should be alright and he even managed to tie his shoe the other day. Yippee!

Chrissy-Hello sister in law, so glad you posted here, sorry I didn't get to talk to you on the phone, all is well with us, getting ready for our cruise. Jerry is doing well and son, Dan is will talk good care of him and hopefully he will not have a breathing attack and go to he hospital. He should be good since he just got our from his over night visit last night. Glad you are doing well. For anyone who doesn't know Chrissy she was married to my brother, Rick who was killed and she is my best friend and I just love her so much. I am happy for her that she is finally getting some happiness with a great guy. I am looking forward to having him in our family so much. His name is Rick too, that is a special name I tell you. Hope you had a great time on your trip to Greece and I will talk to you when I get back.

Well everyone, will talk to you when I get back, which will be after the 18th of April.

Love you, Sharon

Just wanted to post a quick Hi.

We have been living in our apartment for about a week now. I'm slowly adjusting to it. Just always feels strange living in some place new when are used to something else. I've been trying to get into a routine, but it's hard. I am walking everyday even if it is only a mile. I am trying to do little exercises here and there like sit ups etc.

Hopefully, by tomorrow we are going to have some furniture in the apartment. My parents are giving us their 2 lazy boy(they've had them for years) plus possible the couch if it fits. My mom wants to get all new furniture for the living room. I am so thankful that they are helping us so much. I can't wait to get more settled so I can show them how much I appreciate all they have done for us. It means the world to me.

I hope you are doing well.

Have fun on the cruise Sassy. I hope all goes well and you two have a terrific time.

Well, I suppose I should get going. I have errands I need to run today. Take care. Hugs to all.

Love, Annie

Chrissy:
Hi there! So good to hear from you. I'm so glad that everything is going so good for you! You certainly deserve it after all you've been thru - Congratulations on your engagement! I hope to hear from you more - it has been too long.

Sharon:
Well, I hope you are having a ball on your cruise! I'm sure you are! Enjoy and can't wait to hear all about it when you get home. Sorry to hear of Ken's broken toe! I do know how that hurst as I have broken my big toe twice in my life! Not a good thing that's for sure.

Annie:
Glad to hear you're getting settled into your apartment. That is nice of your parents to give you their sofa and loungers .. I'm sure they do know how appreciative you are for their help. Good job on the walking .. that's more than I've been doing. Keep up the good work.

Where have all our newbies gone? Missy? Becky? Teahoney? and our oldies - Sherry? Carol? Debbie? I miss you all - sure wish you would come back!

Well, I'm out of here ... baby sitting again today for my 5-yr old Carley. It's going to be a long day - will have her until 9pm!

Hope to see some action in here soon!

Love, CJ
