Hello Ladies,

Noelle & Kemp, it does not just sound like your states that like to make a buck I think its just Govvernments in general as it sounds so similar here to. You cant turn around without having to pay to get it checked first!

Kemp, I can sooo relate to the cheese thing... that & anything salty. I did however remain pretty strong, which did surprise me as I did feel pretty seedy at some times. All my own fault but I did have a good night & it seems so long since I have been out just with 'the girls'.
To answer your question Kemp, I manage a education centre for adults with an intellectual disability. There ages vary but mostly they are around 18-30 years of age with just a few older ones thrown in for good measure. It is not physically hard work (unless one of the guys spits the dummy) but is mentally challenging as you do always need to be on the look out for things going pear shaped. That does not take into consideration the staffing issues that come up from time to time. But I have worked in this field for about 15years & I do really love it.

I am back on track today which is good cause its weighin day tomorrow. I just do it at home & my scales only go up or hopefully down in 5kg or 1pd increments perhaps I should look at something a little more detailed????
I have many many extra hours up my sleeve here at work so I am heading out early today to take advantage of some vouchers hubby got & am going for a facial/hair treatment & massage this afternoon woooohooooo!!!

Julie hope you are feeling better today. Nothing worse then not feeling good when kids are about & want to do stuff for the hols.

CHat later....

Hey everyone, my daughter's birthday sleepover lasted all weekend, then monday was school, and catchup all week and today I feel awful and sleeping a lot. Hopefully, I am just really exhausted and not sick. I have too much to do this week. I'm sorry I haven't been around and sorry I haven't read too many of the posts, I just want to get back to bed. Good night ya'll.

Hello to everyone!!!! I think I read about frustration about the weight going no where - yeah, I think that is my world, I haven't got on the scale in over a week and so I will weigh in tomorrow. We will see.

~Aimee

jbbm 03-23-2006 11:50 AM

Hi Girls

Feeling better today. That was just terrible, fever and body aches. I just hate to think my kiddos felt that way too. I lost about three to four pounds since Monday from not really eating. But I am sure they will come back once my appetite does. So today I am going to catch up on work around here and play with the kids.

Maggs I hope you enjoyed your day getting your hair done and a massage.

Aimee I hope you got some rest.

Noelle that rain has got to slow down huh? I hope you got to the zoo. Congrats on the loss!

Kempy 4 hours of yard work? That is great excercise. I hope the scale was kind to you with all the excercise you have done. Cute picture of the dog!

Time for me to go some stuff done. Take care all. Hi everyone:)

Kempyd 03-23-2006 02:06 PM

Hey guys. I am home for lunch.

Amiee I was wondering where you were. I forgot about the party. HOw did your weigh-in go?

Maggs I have a friend who is a massage therapist and I trade out with her. (I do Electrolysis) She has her eybrows done and I get a massage, what a trade out! I know you will love your day of pampering.

Well, the 4 hours got 1.5lbs off. I am still trudging along though. My weigh-in is next week so I still have some time. I plan on spending it wisely though.I am going to make sure that I don't sit around all weekend and I am goignt o make sure that I get in lots of veggies. It woudl be so great to hit my 10% goal on Wed. I am not going to force it but I would love to see that happen. Then, I could get my WW keychain!

melekalikimaka 03-23-2006 03:43 PM

Hi girls, not much going on this morning other than having 2 kids out on spring break (Michael and his cousin)...they are running around upstairs like elephants! I'm hiding out downstairs until the laundry is done then I have to go into the office. We did get to visit the zoo yesterday and it was great. They have a lot of the new exhibits up and it was really wet, but the rain did not come down while we were there. My favorite animal was the pelican--I know you guys may get to see these all the time (Kempy!) but I honestly don't remember ever seeing one up close and personal before. We have no such thing native here. I took a picture of it since it just stood there. I didn't realize they were so big!

Kempy, I know you can drop those last pounds to hit that 10% :strong: Getting that keychain felt really good and was really motivating to keep going.

Hi Aimee, I hope you can get yourself rested up so you feel back to 100%. Was your scale kind to you today? :goodscale

maggzs, I've recently been going out for some 'girls nights out' w/my gals from high school (I've been out for almost 17 years!) and it is such a great way to catch up with each other and just have fun. Good job for getting back on track, was the scale good to you too?

Julie, yeah you're sitting upright at your computer at least. Glad to hear you're feeling better today.

Dips, I hope the reason you're not posting here is because you're on your much deserved spring break...you better come back and post some pictures though.

Angie, girl, we're going to have to send a search party out for you soon.

Cherie, same for you girl. How's the house hunting going? What are prices like in OK? I hope you guys find something really great.

Cal, enjoy your days, I know you are.

Well, I gotta run for now, Hi to all and hope everyone has wonderful day.

maggzs 03-23-2006 10:15 PM

Hello Ladies,

Well weigh in was VERY kind... 2 pounds today wooohooo. I cant really believe how it was all possible but I am not complaining. Hope everyone has a great day.

aileigh 03-23-2006 10:49 PM

Well, girls - hopefully this weekend I can catch up on everything goin on around here. Thanks jbbm, kempy & noelle - I feel a little better, I think my body is really trying to not get the flu. But I did pilates and weighed in - wooo hooo down 2 pounds. I will get really stoked when I am down in the 170's and then the 160's and then 150's and ha ha you know what I mean. :D But I was very happy to see some movement and it makes me feel like I might do this thing!!

Jbbm, did you all have that nasty nasty flu - it is awful here, if you catch it ur down for a week... and I really hope I don't got that because I have exam & practicals coming up. Glad you feel better.

Noelle aren't pelicans awesome. I think thye are great. Well, hopefully I can catch up on everything!!

Take care everybody.

melekalikimaka 03-24-2006 11:04 AM

*t*g*i*f*!!!

:jig: Good morning ladies, thank God it's Friday. I am so ready for the weekend. Last night I went to a neighborhood board meeting to hear about a proposed 330 unit affordable housing condo project to be built in my town--directly behind my house! They're talking two 105' high structures 50' from our property line. While I totally support the premise of providing affordable housing for people in the community (the median price of homes on Oahu last month was $615K :fr: ) I am against it being built in the location (50' away from my backyard) and the size of the project. Traffic will be a mess and I know parking will become a nightmare. The land is owned by the state so they can pretty much do with it whatever they like, but I can't imagine going into my backyard and seeing a HUGE freakin' condo RIGHT THERE in my face. What's gonna happen to the sun and the wind? I wish there was a way to have them consider scaling down the size of the project. I don't know what to think about it but right now I am sad/angry. I wish more of my neighbors gave more of a rat's @ss and spoke up against it...

On a more positive note... we've got some successful losers on board:D

:cheer: Congratulations Aimee and maggzs on your loss! You guys are working hard and it shows!!! :cp: :carrot: Good job guys.

Kempy, just wanted to wish you some continuing good vibes for the weekend. Count those points! (chant with me :goodvibes: )

Julie, are you up and at 'em today? I hope you are feeling much much better so you can enjoy your weekend with the kids.

Cal, how goes it?

 Hi to everyone, have a good one.

jbbm 03-24-2006 11:58 AM

Hi Girls

Maggzs Great job!

Aimee you too! Great job! I hope you are not getting the flu. I don't know if that is what I had or not. I have had the actual flu about eight years ago. I just felt really bad for about three days this week. But I am feeling better. With kids in school they have a cold once a month. :dizzy:

Kempy sounds like you are motivated for a healthy weekend. Hope you make your goal for Wednesday.:)

Noelle what a bummer about the condo's. I am hoping the best and they find somewhere else to build. I bet that would make your dogs not so happy either.

Cal are you back to school next Monday? Enjoy your time.

Dips are you sipping a cool drink on vacation yet?

Cherie, Angie and everyone else....Hello

I think my dh is going to try and get out of work early today so we can do something all together. I am not sure what yet, right now the sun is out but the high today is only in the thirties. Maybe we will bundle up and head out to the zoo. Not to much planned for this weekend. Just going to fil's tomorrow for his birthday. I want to avoid the cake. Check back later today.

Kempyd 03-24-2006 02:29 PM

Hey guys.

Great job Maggs and Amiee!!! I hope you can pass it down to me for next week.

Noelle that really sucks. Why in the world would they make them so tall? Is there that much of a housing shortage that they need to pack that many people in? My mom is kind of having the same problem. They want to build right across from her subdivision. Her road is not big enough to handle all of those big trucks and then all of the people that will live in it. She is thinking about selling her house b4 it is too late. I wish you the best of luck with all of that. I think we are trying to get our plans together to get out to HI next year. That would be so cool!

I am relaly trying with the points thing. We are going to dinner at a neighbors house tonight and I am bringing a salad. I made sure to ask what she was cooking. Not the best food to eat on a diet. I hate feeling like I have to deprive myself just to lose another lbs for my weigh-in but I just don't know of another way to go about it. I swear if I drink any more water I am going to exploed and that would not be pretty. I just I am just feeling a litte down. I am almost finished with week 12 and I wanted to be at my 10% by then. I know I am doing great but I want more. Don't we all though?

maggzs 03-24-2006 07:42 PM

morning all

Hang in there Kemp... you will do it, even if you need to make up for it in excercise over the next few days. Just remember that you need to live a little to & in doing that it means enjoying yourself with friends. :goodvibes

:dust: :dust: :dust:
heres a bit to keep you going.

To tell the truth I need a bit myself today, Its just so easy to slip up when you least expect it & then feel sooooooooooo bad. But I am trying to make right choices telling myself those :censored: really dont taste so good & that they are not worth my not fitting into my clothes properly.

Anyway will get off to do the housework today, its Sat here now & I have had a lovely lie in reading but as no one else is going to mop & scrub the toilet etc etc I best get motivated.:goodvibes

Noele, I was sorry to read your dilemma. Can you lodge objections on any grounds? perhaps you can do so on the size of it & maybe start a petition. I know here people often just dont have the time (or inclination/motivation) to attend those sort of meetings but stick a petition in their face & they will happily sign. You could walk door to door with it. Plus think of the added advantage.... all the points you will save with the walking! ;)

Have a great week end ladies. :)

aileigh 03-24-2006 11:55 PM

Hey everyone... thanks for all the kudos, support and motivation. That feels so good.

Noelle, how high will the condo be. This is wishful thinking, but if the condo is so high that it blocks the sun from your backyard (say mostly shadow throughout the day) or what have you... speak to an attorney. Believe it or not, there have been cases against condo associations for infringing on air space/terroritory. Sounds far fetched, I know, but we learned about those cases in my Real Estate Law class (back when I was a paralegal) and I don't have those books on hand to give you specifics, but maybe if you speak to an attorney and it is a doozy of a condo (I don't know how tall they get your way), just maybe there is something that can be done. Sorry to hear about that though.... really stinks.

jbbm, I am so super lucky, I have an insane immune system I have gotten ill maybe 4 times in my daughter's life. It seems on Wednesday i was just plain wore out. Sometimes we go and we go and soon run out of steam. Women, wives & mothers just don't get much credit. So thankfully, my friend kicked my butt in gear yesterday and I am feeling better, although still sleepy. I must have lost some mad sleep at some point. My daughter has my immune system and hasn't been sick since she was about 5 and she is 10 now.

Thanks kempy for the kudos. By the way - I know I could float so nicely now after all this water I have been drinking. I am doing the 21 day challenge board and one of my goals is drinking my 8 servings of water. Shooo, lately I have been dehydrated or something because I have drank about 5 1/2 a day or so. I have never felt so bloated and swollen since my water was about to bust during my labor. I actually found myself praying for my water to break early LOL:D

Maggz, that is a good trick for the mind to remind yourself of how that stuff does not help us fit into jeans. But don't deprive yourself always because then this long journey will become miserable and hard. I hear that the deprivation feeling is what lures people back into some unhealthy habits. Don't feel guilty about sneaking in something every once in a while. I cheat by tricking my brain with a protein bar that is made just like a certain something (I know we aren't allowed to say certain things) but with some good protein. I made that a snack the other day and I smiled all the way through it. As well, I sometimes sneak a bite or two of this or that. The protein / granola bars have carbs also, but the ones I choose have a good bit of protein and i don't feel guilty and they taste alright. It is enough to kick my craving. But don't let yourself feel bad and yes, YOU ARE DOING AWESOME.

Dips'n'twists 03-25-2006 10:10 AM

Spring break is over :(

Hello My Gurlz,

I am back from my florida vacation. I did NOT want to come back. Only in miami can you walk around half naked and carefree! I was like, "I am so damn hot", walking around in my mini skirts and bikinis YES I wore a bikini and I felt pretty good as a size 6 until I saw those girls who were like a size 1 and thought to myself, "okay maybe I could be a 4". :dizzy: I'm crazy, I know. But I missed you girls and it is nice to be back to posting. I know I missed a lot and I've been trying to catch up.

Noelle- You are so close to the 40 pound loss and I am soooo proud of you! You are doing a great job and you should pat yourself on the back for how far you've come.

Kempy- Don't stress yourself out. 4 days does not completely reverse several weeks of work. You'll be fine, besides, we all have to cheat every once and again to keep from going insane.

J- I missed you so much. I hope the kids and hubby are good and I am glad you are feeling better these days. Afamily outing sound fabulous. I( wanted to take Niko to the dog park today but it's very cloudy in NY and the forecast predicts rain. Anyways have fun and then tell me what happened!

Maggs & Aimee- I am still trying to get to know you both a bit better. I've been on Vacation so I really have a lot of catching up to do but I do want to congratulte you both on your weight loss. You go girls!!

Angie- Holla at'cha girls. I'm back from oblivion and you should be too!! Don't make me come to Maine!

CAl- Sounds like you have something cool to look forward to. I can't wait to see what the castle looks like!

RED- I missed you. Hope the weather in Asia is better than here. HAng in there with the weight loss. You will find your way, you are too good not to.

Okay I'm going to post a few pics from vacation. I miss florida so much. 80 degrees everyday, not a cloud in the sky. Summer needs to make it's way to NYC Quick or else I'm going back to miami!

Kempyd 03-25-2006 01:30 PM

Hey guys! It is abeautiful day down here in the south. It is in the mid 60's and not a cloud in the sky. I am having to water the yard though b/c it is so dry. We have had lots of wind and it just dries everything up. You think with all of this beauty I would be in a good mood. Well, I am NOT! I have no idea what it wrong with me. I just woke up in a foul mood. I went to to grocery and I had to hold my tounge b/c poeple were just working my nerve. It must be PMS time and I am getting a good dose of it today. I am going to have to ask my WW leader what to do about this platue. I am stuck and I hate it. I am going up 1lbs and then down 1.5, up .5lbs and then down again. I have no idea what I am doing wrong. This is not what I wanted to happen so close to vacation. I wanted to feel like Dips walking around all proud in my bathing suit. Doesn't look like it is going to happen. BLAH! Sorry again for the bad mood. It just keeps coming out.

Dips it is so good to see you. You better post some pics soon. I can;t wait to see what fun you had. You always have fun though. You are one person I don't have to worry about with that.

Amiee I never knew that about law suits. I always just figured that if the government wanted to do something they would do it no matter what. You are one smart lady. I have a pretty strong immune sysytem too. I usually don't catch anything. Wiht me being in a salon we get exsposed to lots of germs too but I manage to fight them off. So, that means I have to fake sick to miss work. :D Naw, I always go in if I have a client. I work for myself so that is where to money comes from. I wish I could get a check too though.

Maggs you are so sweet. I did indulge a little last night at our friends house. I did bring my salad and had a large helping of that but I has to sample the other stuff. She cook venison and let me tell you that stuff was awesome. I have never had it like that b4. I usually only eat it in suasage form but this was awesome and VERY healthy. She make scallopes potatoes, green bean casserole and garlic bread. For dessert she made biscuits with a little sugar topped with sliced strawberries and cool whip. Talk baout to die for. I tried to figure the points and I think I did ok. I only used 10 of my FP's. In my town we have tons of strawberry farmers. So, this time of year I load up on them. We even have a festival for them each year. That is kind of what our twon is known for.

Noelle has HI floated away yet with all of the rain? I watched a cool show the other night on Discovery about volcanos and they said that there is a new island right off of the big island that is about a mile below the sea surface. They think it will emerge in about 10 thousand years. Shame we wont be around to see it but that is cool that there will be a new island. amazing what I can learn on TV.

Well guys, I need to move the sprinklers around the yard. I'll check back later.

melekalikimaka 03-25-2006 04:45 PM

:carrot: Woo-Hoo Dips is back, we needed our little ray of sunshine  I can just imagine you on South Beach walking the walk in your teeny-weeny bikini ;) Yeah, we want pics!

I went for a hike this morning with Michael and my sis. We drove about 28 miles away from home to the east side of the island and hiked up to this lookout with a lighthouse down below. Just a tiny little lighthouse, but the view is pretty awesome. You can see the island of Molokai from that vantage point plus some humpback whales swimming around in the ocean. And it was overcast the whole time so no sun to make us sweat, it was great and a good workout.

Kempy, sounds like you did really well at your friends party, I've tried venison once, I think it was smoked, but it was pretty tasty. Girl, we are on the same PMS thing. I always get a migraine a few days before and yup, this morning, just like clockwork, there it was... I am hoping I can keep control of my sweet tooth this weekend, at least until I weigh in again on Tuesday. I am hoping to see BIG results at my next WI since I didn't do too well last time. :crossed:

Aimee, thanks for the tip about talking with an attorney. I get the impression that the project is already a "done deal" but it can't hurt to go and shake some trees and find out what the real scoop is and see if we can't at least stall the project.

maggzs, thanks for the petition idea. My mom was thinking the same thing so I guess if it's to be, it'll be up to me.... and yeah, at least I will get a workout walking around. I have to go and do some research to make sure we address the right person(s) to make the complaint to.

Well, there's still time today to do something else fun so I'll be off...what to do what to do... Have a great weekend!

jbbm 03-25-2006 05:31 PM

Hi Girls....so I didn't avoid the cake but on the plus side it was a tiny piece of ice cream cake:).

Dips so happy to see you back! Can't wait to see pics. Very glad to hear you had a good time.

Noelle I would just about do anything to see that view from your hike right now. It is cloudy and just gloomy. With a side of brown grass, haha....Hope you have a fun rest of the day!

Kempy your dinner last night sounded good. I am sending you good vibes. I feel like I am in need of them too. You know I lose a couple of pounds too and then boom they are back. I think being after 30 years old has a lot to do with it. It was so easy when I was 20. Hugs honey.

Aimee that is amazing your daughter has not been sick in five years. You are very lucky. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Maggzs!

I think I am going to get my butt out of this chair and try and burn some calories, do you think making dinner and dishes would be a workout?:D I think that is all the energy I have, haha....Check back later, have a great weekend everyone!

Dips'n'twists 03-25-2006 08:55 PM

Hello My Gurlz

For once I had a nice, relaxing, boring saturday. I want to post my pics but by the time i finish resizing them for this site they are so tiny. Could you all tell me how I cam set them up on another site so that you all can get a good look??

BTW- dogs and beaches do NOT mix. Niko was throwing up sand all day after we went. I didn't even see him eat the sand. So mom I am :( He's fine now but I bet he's like, "what happened to all that nice weather?"

J- A small piece of cake is okay. Glad you had fun.

Noelle- I left the sunshine back in Fla. But I am so honored to be in your highest regards :D You're so great. I adore you. BTW the bikini wasn't teeny weeny but it was cute. Got it from the Victoria Secret catalogue! I can't wait till summer moves up north.

Okay, gotta finish watching tv. TTYL

calnative 03-26-2006 12:53 AM

Hello Everyone,

Dips: Welcome back. We really missed you.

Only 1 more day and then back to school. I keep reminding myself that there's only 10 weeks left. Two things to shoot for: end of school :carrot: and vacation. Last day of school is June 7 and we leave June 8. I know these 10 weeks will go by really fast and I'll be stressing with getting everything ready for the trip and taking care of end-of-year things at school. Also, if I move to a different district I'll have to pack up my room...on top of everything else. :dizzy:

I have rested some, but yesterday and today I've been feeling just exhausted. I'm really going to try to just relax tomorrow and do a lot of nothing.

Has anyone talked to Angie? I hope everything is ok.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Cal

Kempyd 03-27-2006 10:53 AM

Happy Monday, if you can say that. We went to the New Orleans car show yesterday and had lunch with some friends. It was an all around nice day. I went in early today for one client but I am back home now. I don't have to go in until 3 so I thought I would use this time to walk and do some TaeBo. I don't know what it is about this time of year but we just get so busy. I think that is why I am having a hard time writing all of my points down for WW. We are out to eat with friends and going to their houses so much I lose track of what I eat. I try to make healthy choices though. I guess I will get my groove back soon. I have to weigh-in Wed. and I am not looking foward to it. Maybe some miracle will happen between now and then and I will drop 2 lbs. :D

Cal I hope you rested up. I am sure you are back at school today but you will be done b4 you know it. Are you guys really starting to warm up over there? We are still in some pretty cool weather but I am sure that will be over with really soon.

Dips I have never used one of those pic sites. I know Cherie has though. Maybe you just download straight to it and then post your link. I think it is called shutterbug or something.

Julie I wish I could give you some of this sun. It is so nice right now. i have the backdoor open and I can hear all of the windchimes in the yard. It is a little dry though but I will take it over cold weather.

Noelle what did your fun weekend include?

Angie and Cherie I hope you guys are ok out there.

Maggs and Amiee it is time to jump back into the week. We all usually take off from posting during the weekend but it is time to fill us in on your fun weekends. Hope to hear from you soon.

jbbm 03-27-2006 11:15 AM

Hi Girls

It is a sunny morning and a nice 40 degrees, I will take that:). My eating was okay this weekend. Yesterday I had a sub sandwich and last night we grilled burgers. We got the yard raked yesterday and I think I see a couple of my tulips pushing up. I really have that summer is coming feeling.

Cal your trip will be here before you know it. I am so excited for you. That trip sounds like it will be just fabulous. Did you tell Ashley about Disney in Paris yet or are you going to keep it a surprise? Either way she will be thrilled. Have a good week at school.

Kempy you know you got me rethinking getting a glass table top for my patio set. I am afraid the kids would smash it with their toys or somthing. I am on the look out for a nice set. Enjoy your day until you go back to work.

Dips glad you rested up. Like Kempy said, Cherie used a website like that but I never have.

Noelle how was the rest of your weekend? Hope it was great!

Hi to everyone else I did not mention. I have to get my laundry done and then I am either going to run to the store or get some excercise in. Check back later on.

Kempyd 03-27-2006 01:09 PM

Exercise is done!

I just talked with a friend of mine about WW and why I was stuck. We figured a few things may be to blame. Not exercising enough, walking the dogs once just isn't cutting it anymore. Not getting in my good fats, I have some pills for that. Not eating enought points, I wasn';t eating the points I got from exercising. I am going to try to fix these and see what happens. And, I was right I did get between 6 - 8 points for my 4 hour yard work last week. YEAH!!!

melekalikimaka 03-27-2006 03:30 PM

Hey girls, just checking in. I took the dog out for a walk this morning, but it hasn't stopped raining since 9 a.m. yesterday. She was pretty soaked by the time we got home even though I cut the route short. My hand was getting numb holding up the umbrella with my one hand and the leash in the other  Yesterday we did hit the mall, I didn't really buy much, but just went to get out of the house. Then I made chicken marsala for dinner, it's a WW recipe and it tastes so good. I was a regular Julia Child :chef:  Oh yeah, and watched the Constant Gardener--good movie! I have my weigh-in tomorrow so I am hoping for at least 2 lbs gone :crossed:

Kempy, we have a car show coming up next weekend and I just got some free tickets. Did you see anything way cool?

Cal, sorry you had to go back to school today....we have a little Hawaiian holiday here so the kids got this Monday off, just a little extra day at the tail end of Spring Break.

Julie, 40 degrees and you're celebrating huh? I'd still be freezing my butt! But I can understand when you guys get single digits... the tulips will be in full bloom before you know it.

Dips, the photo sharing website is shutterfly (dot-com) can't put links in... it's free. Or you can just email us to share those pics.

Anyway, I've got to run back home (i'm in the office). I left Michael w/my sis and told her I was only going to the store and back :s:

Have a good one

aileigh 03-27-2006 10:15 PM

Kempy - lol, my weekend was so far from fun. I had to work a fundraiser for the fire department on Sunday that took up half the day and the rest of the weekend (saturday also) I studied my butt off for an a & P lecture exam and lab practical. Now I have that behind me I have a sociology exam next monday. My weigh in is tomorrow, but I have feeling not many changes. Although I have found this killer yoga - pilates workout that I really enjoy because it stretches me out, which I neglect during my cardio/weight training.

Good luck on your weigh in Noelle. I hope those 2 pounds are gone also.

jbbm - I also have that summer is soon here feeling. I can't wait either. I love warmth, sun and being outside. The only downside is that there are so many june bugs/gnats around here during the warm months and they drive me nuts. Do you have those real bad where you live also?

kempy - it gets so discouraging sometimes. I know I have to follow things to a T or nothing happens with me. My body just doesn't allow for any short cuts. Now that the weather is warming up though, I really hope to get back into running because that is one thing that worked for me. The bad thing is that it has been 5 years and I know it will take me forever to be able to run any distance again. I have those shorter wider muscle fibers (allowing for more weight lifting type of exercises) rather than those long lean muscle fibers that are suited to distance/endurance. But over time those can slowly change and that is how some non-runners become runners. I hope I understood that right - anatomy is just kicking my behind this semester. But I read it last night cramming for my exam and was like ah man.... anyways that is the exercise that really works for me for some reason. I lost 30 pounds one time runninng for like 5 months with no adjustment in my diet. Now that I am closer to 30 though my metabolism needs different boosts. So sorry for rambling about that. But I understand the frustration.

Hi Dips!! I am so looking forward to wearing a bikini some summer down the road :D Don't worry a size 6 is still awesome looking and no reason to feel like you could be a smaller size. If you get down to a smaller size that would be great for you, but a size 6 is great and I am sure women were looking at you and jealous as all get out. I would be.

Alright girls. I will try to be a better poster this week.;)

Ive been a bad bad girl

 This past 2 days I have been on a training seminar & its been full on food, plus the week end is always on the casual side so I am in carrier over mode from then. Then tomorrow is back to work as per normal but Thurs & fri back to conference type days with full on food plus lunch out for a chinese banquet with the boss! :(

I just dont seem to take a trick this week nor do I seem to be able to stop thse scoffing even when I am home. I had been doing so well but this past few days I just cant seem to stop scoffing.

Words of advice greatfully accepted.

Kempyd 03-28-2006 01:34 PM

Hey girls! I came home for lunch today too. I hust hate sitting up there with nothing to do. So, I came home and started to water the front yard and I took the dogs for a walk. I am just waiting for my lunch to setting so I can do TaeBo. I don't have to be back to work until 3:45 so I have plenty of time to fit it in.

Amiee I had no idea you were in school. You probably said something b4 but my memory sometimes doesn't hold stuff for very long. :D When do you graduate? What is your degree in? I have never been able to run. I have tried so many times but the shins just wont allow it.

Maggs I have been having the same times as you are. I just can't see to get myself together. I feel that I am doing ok and then something happens and I fall off the wagon again. My big test is going to be this weekend. We have friends coming in Thrusday night and they will be here until Monday morning. That is alot of paying attention to what I put in my mouth. It is so much easier when it is just Joe and I. I am going to try to cook though so that should keep things a little healthier. I am going to puch for healthy food places too when we go out to eat.

Ok, I think I need to start to move again. My food is making me sleepy. I could just lay down and take a nap. NO, I have to workout. I have to weigh-in and I want to see some sort of movement.

melekalikimaka 03-28-2006 02:04 PM

Hello ladies, I got my exercise out of the way. I didn't take the dog because I thought it would be raining, but wouldn't you know it, the sun actually came out--that is surprising because we have had close to 4 weeks of rain already, with maybe only a day or two a week of sunshine. It rained ALL of last night, not too heavily but just steady. I think we have had a flash flood watch for most of the month too. I'm so looking forward to bluer skies and sunshine. I am looking forward to my WI in a couple of hours, I want to see what kind of results I made from really kickin' butt and sticking to my points. :crossed:

Maggzs, it's always hard when you don't have control of where you eat. Are you able to at least bring your own "legal" snacks to your seminars so maybe you won't feel like eating so much when lunch time rolls around? Hang in there and soon it will be back to the old grind where you have control of your menu plan.

Aimee, that is interesting about the muscle fibers (short/wide vs. long/lean). I have no idea what type I have but I suspect I am like you  I have never been lean enough to actually have much muscle definition :sumo: Good luck on your W/I tomorrow and don't strain your brain too much studying ;)

I have to get a move on... chat with y'all later. Hi to everyone

Kempyd 03-28-2006 05:55 PM

Well, I am starving and I have no idea what to eat for dinner. Joe is having dinner with someone in Baton Rouge so I have to fend for myself. Of course, this is the night b4 grocery day so there is only odds and ends left. I guess I can scroung up something.

Noelle I forgot to say that the car show was kind of lame. It was kind of like being on a big car lot. I was expecting the kind of thing you see on TV. All flashy and loud but it was no where close. I wondered if they didn't think many people would show up b/c New Orleans is still so bad. Oh well, it was fun to get out of the house anyways.

We are still waiting on the rain they said we would have. Noelle I wish I could take some for ya. We really need it down here. I say that now and watch what will happen next month. I bet it will be soggy here.

Well, I hope everyone is doing great. I had to bump up up from page two. I'll check back later to see if any of you guys have posted.

melekalikimaka 03-28-2006 06:55 PM

WOW is all I can say! :hat: I am back from my weigh in and floating on a cloud... I lost 4.2 lbs this past week! :carrot: All I did was GO BACK TO BASICS--control my portions, track my points, drink my water and exercise. I used almost all of my earned activity points and just a few of my flex points and voila! 44 lbs down. I just realized that I reached my 2nd 10% goal. I get to change my chicky avatar and my ticker... I'm actually starting to think I may actually get close to my Easter goal. It's still a bit ambitious from this point since I was slacking off for the past few weeks, but today's weigh-in really made me realize if I follow the plan honestly, it works wonders! I am so stoked!!! :cb:

It's still raining here and the weather advisory said the flash flood watch has been extended til tomorrow. I'm going to drown soon!

Kempy, I have been making the WW chicken marsala recipe and it's so tasty and easy to make, and only 4 pts per serving of 1 piece chicken and 1/4 cup sauce. I can PM you the recipe if you didn't get it from your center. Of course when I don't feel like cooking, I heat up a can of Progresso soup (usually chicken noodle or maybe Manhattan clam chowder) and eat the whole thing. I'll be thinking really hard and trying to send you some rain cloud vibes. I wish these here would go away and fast.

Anyway, just had to come here and shout my news from the top of my lungs :D

jbbm 03-28-2006 07:01 PM

Hi Girls
Just popping on quick after dinner tonight. Had a meeting at school and dd had a pre-kinder program.

Noelle you go girl! I am so proud of you and all your hard work:carrot:

Kempy I hope you found something good to eat. We had baked chicken and there was a piece leftover....to bad you don't live closer:)

Hi Maggzs, Aimee, Cherie, Cal, Angie, Dips and Red....okay I think that is all of you:D

I have got to go get dh to bring ds in, he has some homework tonight.

Kempyd 03-28-2006 07:26 PM

YEAH NOELLE

That is so great. I am amazed at how much you dropped in one work. I am hopeing for something like that myself. You know, 2lbs off. Just so I can reach my 10%. I am PMSing right now though so I might be holding some water.

I didn't get that recipe at my meeting. I would love for you to e-mail it to me. I am always looking for new things to cook. I ened up eating 2 veggie burgers (tomato basil flavor) and some green beans. I told Joe and he said he was thankful he wasn't home eating that.

Hey Julie nice to see you post. For some reason I am not getting e-mails when you guys post. So, I have to just keep checking to see.

aileigh 03-28-2006 07:41 PM

Kempy - I have shin splints toooooo - I got them when I did hurdles in middle school. I can run on dirt, but not pavement or even the track at the high school with that bounce back stuff (the name is lost on me). I can only run on a real dirt road and my shins be okay. I try on dirt w/ gravel, but it is so so - not as bad as pavement. My degree will be in Dental Hygiene. Hence, my anatomy class and learning about muscle fibers (prolly remembered wrong and so now anal me must make sure for Noelle since it piqued her interest and i would not want to lead her astray ;) )

Okay here I go with some physiology stuff that can help us all... Stretching - you actually do lengthen your muscles when you regularly stretch - for an improvement in flexibility daily stretching for many weeks if possible. We all know slow and gentle. I bring this up because of that yoga / pilates session that I did that really felt great. Hmmmm... I knew stretching was good before work out, but serious stretching sessions increase flexibility - new goal, I wanna do a split. The only one I did was when one foot came off a skateboard while the other traveled forward with it. :^:

Okay - Noelle - I will try to better explain the fibers (LOL) us girls with the muscles bigger in diameter have muscles that fatigue quickly - thus no long distance running immediately. But with running further and further, those muscles can evolve into a muscle of more endurance but not quite the lean muscle of "natural born runners." That is my summary without the technical terms for those muscles. But if you would like to learn more the muscles are slow oxidative fibers (natural runners); Fast oxidative glycolytic fibers (runners from training :^: ); and Fast glycolytic fibers (you know those girls who were thin and strong with big leg muscles like some cheerleaders or soccer players and body builders - the natural runners have those long lean muscles) I hope I explained that well and I gave you the terms if you want to learn more.

Some of us girls were not born with bodies that are naturally long, lean and flexible, BUT we can make our bodies grow to be such. That makes me happy.:D :D

Dips'n'twists 03-28-2006 07:50 PM

Hello My Girlz!!

:bravo: :cp: YEAH NOELLE !!!

GIRL I am so proud of you. You've been working so hard and you've overcome so much and now you're really rockin and rollin:carrot: You inspire me every day! I will try the shutterfly thing for my pics. If that doesn't work I'll have to email them to you all. Congrats once again on making it to the 40 lb chicky!!

Kempy- Don't worry babe, you'll make your 10%. I have faith in you:D I'm feeling kinda lazy about cooking dinner too. I'm also feeling lazy about shopping. I'm gonna have food delivered from fresh direct just to see how that works out.

Hi J- You busy mom you.

Maggz- Those darn seminars always have the best food don't they?! Sometimes I wanna crash them just for the food. Just have small portions and you'll be fine.

Aimee- I'm trying to start up running angain myself. I don't really like it but I love the effects. Good luck with that.

Cal- are you on vacation yet!?

Okay ladies I have to cook now (Making chiken parm with veggies) I'll check back later my gurlz.

calnative 03-28-2006 10:49 PM

Back to tormenting my kiddos. I keep telling them it's what I live for. :D
I'm not counting down, yet, to vacation. It's still too far away. We have testing coming up in 2 weeks and we're trying to get the kiddos ready for that. The kids are so stressed during testing week, I can't figure out why they can't just make those days 1/2 days. I don't ever have my kids do a lot of work and I never start a new lesson during that week. I may start my vacation countdown after testing week; we'll see.

Noelle: You are sure an inspiration for all of us. You've done so well. I hope the rain lets up for you. We've actually been getting some rain here, even after the forecasters said we wouldn't see anymore for several months. I'm glad they were wrong about that one.

Dips: I had Spring break the last 2 weeks. We leave for Europe in about 10 weeks, but I'm not counting yet. ;) It was great to hear that you had a wonderful time in Florida. I can't wait to see the pics.

Kempy: Just like Noelle, you are doing awesome. I'm proud of you; keep up the great work.

Maggzs: I don't have to go to any board meetings, but at school we have staff meetings, or inservices, and they always have snacks...usually chocolate. For some, it can be very difficult. Fortunately, I don't care for chocolate so I'm able to resist. My downfall is usually the chips and salsa.:T
I echo what Noelle said, perhaps you can take your own snacks.

Julie: You are always so busy. What a great mom. I usually have to get after Ashley to do her homework. Sometimes, I don't let her play outside with friends because she become too grouchy and tired during the week. She does play with her dog, Tucker, and that keeps both of them active and happy.

Hello to Aimee, Red, Cherie, and Angie. I hope everything is going well for all of you. Cherie and Angie: We miss you. Please come out and let us know that you're ok.

Goodnight everyone.

Cal

Kempyd 03-29-2006 09:07 AM

Good morning guys. Well, I am not feeling very good about the weigh-in but I could be surprised. I am 1/2 lbs heavy than 2 weeks ago on my home scale. I did take my measurments though and I have lost a little in my upper arms and chest. I guess that is ok too. I was really looking forward to dropping some sort of weight though. Since Feb. 9 when I started to measure I have lost 4 inches total all over. I guess that is good. I need to keep my chin up and just hope for the best when I get there. I need to head out now. I just needed to ven treally quick b4 I left.

Kempyd 03-29-2006 11:42 AM

CRAP! Well, the weigh-in didn't go like I had hoped for. She even calculated wrong. She said I was up .4lbs and then logged me in as losing 16lbs total. I should have been a little higher than last week. I am just going to say 16 though  b/c of this water weight. Is that wrong of me?

I just got back from the grocery so I need to put away the food. At least we have food now.

melekalikimaka 03-29-2006 12:27 PM

Kempy, I say leave the record as it stands...that way when you go back next week after a good, long week of hard work, you can proudly collect your 10% keychain! Good job girl! :carrot: And at my center yesterday, the topic was "How do you determine if you're successful?"...we had to talk about NSV's, like your inches lost. Sometimes the scale doesn't show what we want it to, but the tape measure doesn't lie either, so I say you did great!

Cal, I'm sure the kids were glad to be back in school again, not! Here's wishing this last quarter flies by :crossed:

Well, I gotta run out the door and get my walk in while the sun is out...more wet stuff forecast for this afternoon. Bother! Have a good one, I'll be back later.

Kempyd 03-29-2006 01:09 PM

Noelle do you mean I shoudl keep the 16 or drop it to what it really is at this moment?

heading out the door to walk the poochies.

melekalikimaka 03-29-2006 02:31 PM

Yup, I would keep the 16, we know you're going to drop that PMS bloatation any day now :D. Don't worry about it. I just got back from walking the dog and didn't get rained on--amazing!!! Skies are getting darker now though, should be raining in an hour or two

Kempyd 03-29-2006 02:36 PM

I just did TaeBo. I did a different DVD this time. I really didn;t like it that much. It was the Energy one from the set that I bought. I have a feeling that I am going to need to buy some new DVD's soon. I feel like I am getting sued to the ones that I have. I can;t be getting bored yet. I have to much left to lose.

Ok, I will keep the 16 if you say so. :D I am going to try my hardest not to blow it this weekend. Having company makes it so much harder to stay good. I guess I will be eating lots of salad this weekend to try to keep myself full.

melekalikimaka 03-29-2006 08:38 PM

Hi all, just taking a short break this afternoon. I have been working hard at work (imagine that!) and did a ton of paperwork. It's been a long time since I did that  Anyway, I had to take a break because I was so busy working at the computer, then something caught my eye--it was a freakin' HUGE cane spider that came out from behind the couch and was crawling up the wall. I just HATE spiders as they creep me out!!!! Ugh! I had to go and smash it with my shoe because they bite something awful. There is a nice big dirty shoeprint on my white wall now with one spider leg stuck to the wall ... sorry if that's TMI  I'm just kinda freakin' out here and had to share...

here's a pic of a cane spider--not THE cane spider that was in here, but just a pic to show y'all. Gross ain't it? *shudder*
