On the snacking thing, I have read that you SHOULD eat every few hours throughout the day--keeps your metabolism up. And why would it be bad to snack on just fruits and/or veggies? I'm thinking you maybe read something that said you should have protein with you snacks? This is usually suggested in order to keep you feeling less hungry, but if you're eating fruits/veggies and not feeling hungry, then I wouldn't worry about it.
WOW, Kimberley! I can't WAIT to be squeezing into 16s, let alone falling out of them! ;) I certainly hope your jaw starts feeling better! I think I'm done eating everything in sight. Actually, maybe not--I woke up SUPER hungry this morning (which is not normal for me) and had a bowl of granola-and-almond cereal w/skim milk. Hopefully that will hold me over for a while. I have a packet of oatmeal for a snack if I need it at work, and a Slim Fast still in the fridge there, too. I NEED to stop eating in the cafeteria at work! Luckily, I only have the rest of this week, and then I won't even have the cafeteria as an option since I won't be working in that building anymore :D |
Morning all!
I know for me, I do best when I eat every 2-3 hrs. I especially have to do that with the liquid diet I am on. But I pretty much did that before. It keeps my blood sugar even. Jill: I can see you counting the days!! I think it's awesome you are headed for a new adventure! And I'm with you--I can't wait to be able to squeeze into size 16's! I've got a ways to go, though. I'm currently in a 22/24. |

When I started, I was in a 22/24 or 26/28, depending on the maker and whether or not the pants were streeeeetch denim. ;) That is the best invention of this decade, I think. It forgives a lot. LOL
The newly-shaped guard seemed to work better for me last night. I think I need to give it another few nights before I can say for certain. Like some of you, I eat every few hours and it does seem to keep me more even. Before, I'd have blood sugar dives and feel awful. I try to have a little protein in whatever snack I eat, unless I have a piece of fruit. I'll be glad when my jaw's better so I can chomp down on an apple instead of having to slice it thinly to eat. I miss that crunch and burst of flavor! |
Goodmorning! I keep sleeping in WAY later than I want to, I have to remind myself that it's OKAY to sleep in. My body obviously needs the rest.. I find with TOM I either sleep LOTS or barely sleep at all. It's weird really. I'm going to try something I've read about for YEARS! Exercising before breakfast, yup, I am going out on an empty stomach-ish ( I was up at 2am for my usual snack & antibiotics). I'm thinking it might be a good thing for me, I normally can't exercise with food in my tummy. We'll see! I JUST woke up so I'm going to give myself about 10-15 minutes to full wake up and then run like the wind!
I love stretch denim, or stretch of any kind. I have a weird body shape, if I don't wear things with stretch they never fit properly. I cannot wait to squeeze into a NORMAL size 16, and get out of this plus stuff! I ate quite a bit yesterday and was SHOCKED at the calories... lemme give you a slight run down.. For breakfast I had an 2 egg omlet with 1 3/4 cups of veggies, used pam. Snack - fruit salad - 1 banana, 4 strawberries, 1 cup of grapes. Lunch - mini pizza (8grams of fat), and an apple Dinner - 2 cups of lettuce, 1/2 cup of carrots, grilled some asparagus with onions and garlic in 1/2 a tablespoon of butter. Put that on top of my salad with 1 tbsp parmesan cheese and 1 tbsp's balsamic vinigerette. Snack - 1 banana, 1 orange cut up with Low fat yogurt. All of that was 1415 calories and 30 grams of fat. I am aiming for 1600 calories and 30 grams of fat! It's hard! If you have ANY tips I'd love to hear them :) I better go for my run/walk thing, I'll come back and post properly afterwards! -Aimee |
Yep, STREEEETCH denim is my friend! :)I'm actually more in a 24-26 on the bottom (thanks to my belly!) and a 22-24 on top. I've always had that big fat belly!
Glad to hear the new guard worked better, Kimberley! |
Aimee, your menu sounds SUPER healthy! I would say if you want more calories to just add more fruit (since they are higher in cals than veggies). Ooh, and maybe like some nuts (or even beans) for a boost in protein and good fats.
Jen--hehe, I'm just the opposite. I have shirts that are mostly sizes 26-32 whereas my pants are all 22. And lord knows it's not because of the big ol' B-cups I'm sportin' up top...it's just that I have a lot of back fat and a bigger belly up top than down in the gut (a lovely image you all needed, I know :p ). |
I am most definitely smaller on the top, I wear a plus 16, sometimes 18 on the bottom and an XL in most "regular" stores, I can sometimes wear the smallest size at plus size stores on top, but I usually have lots of extra fabric where I don't need it/it doesn't look good. Ah clothes, so complex!
Jill - I do enjoy snacking, but worry it'll get away from me. I am hoping to speed up my metabolism from all this eating. I was thinking of adding some beans, chick peas specifically, to my diet. I was worried about the right kinds of fats, and am taking a EFA suppliment, also I am taking calcium, vitamin b complex and vitamin c. These all have to do with weight loss, I was reading in a pretty good book that lots of the reasons why people are overweight is the lack of nutrients. Vitamin B helps speed up the metabolism, calcium helps break down fat, and I totally can't remember why vitamin c.. just know it's important. I used to really study vitamins and their uses... Jen - how does your liquid diet work? I've never really heard of such a thing, except Slim Fast.. I'd like details. What do you drink? Water? Can you drink fruit juices? Do you JUST drink the shakes? I bought an EAS myoplex (??) shake from GNC, it was cheap and low in fat.. heh.. I can't really stand the taste of it, I got French Vanilla.. I dunno how you do it! Kimberley - glad to hear things went well at the dentists. I hope that jaw of yours feels better soon.. Calcium may help if its a muscle thing. My mind must be on vitamins. Marge - where are youuuu?? When is your trip to Washington, DC again? Are you going to be without internet.. for I may perish in your absense. So I watched The Notebook yesterday, wow, it was quite the little tear jerker. I've never known a movie to be so happy and sad at the same time. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling were amazing together.. I wish it was longer, heh. My run/walk thing was alright, 45 minutes, including warm up and cool down. it's a good little workout, I can't wait until thats all running again. I wonder how I used to be able to run 45 minutes every second day! Crazy. -Aimee |
I loved The Notebook, too. I cried and cried at the end, felt sad for a good half hour. Now I can look back on it with good feelings, though.
Beans are *excellent*, as are almonds and walnuts. The beans are low fat and full of fiber and protein, two things which will keep you feeling full longer. And nuts are high in protein and good fats, so they're great, too. An ounce of nuts is a great snack. I love toasted almond slivers over a salad, or mixed in with my Kashi cereal. Yum. |
For Aimee: Here are the details of my liquid diet. (remember you asked for details.)
First of all, some background: From November 2003-April 2004, I lost 70 lbs on a liquid diet using Medifast products. The products consisted of shakes, soups and meal bars. The shakes and soups were just average tasting, but the bars were GREAT! You were only limited to one, though. Toward the beginning of May 2004, my marriage (which had been failing for a long time) was showing signs of coming to an end. I started coping with the stress the only way I knew how--to eat. Long story short--ended up putting 50 back on over time. Since then, I have tried many other diets, but could not stick to any of them. The most I lost before starting to gain was 15 lbs. I had been yo-yoing back and forth for a long time. So....I went back to what has worked for me in the past. But I knew I didn't want to do Medifast again (too expensive). So I went back to this message board I used to post on back in the day. The owner of the board lost all his weight with Optifast, about 100 lbs worth. But I noticed he was advertising a product called the New Lifestyle Diet. Here's a link: www.newlifestylediet.com The products look similar to the Medifast products, but I noticed that they were much cheaper. After reading the board I fould there were lots of former Medifast users that started using New Lifestyle (NL) because they tasted better and were cheaper. So I thought, what the heck, give it a try. I ordered the 2 week rapid start kit with a variety of things in it to try. If I try a product and don't like it, I can return the unused portion for a refund. Here's how a typical day looks for me: 7 am--shake/pudding (the mix can be either depending on the amount of water) 10 am--shake/pudding 1 pm--shake/pudding OR soup meal bar 4 pm--shake/pudding 6 pm--"lean and green meal" (8 oz very lean meat and 2 cups of veggies or salad 7 or 8 pm--shake/pudding soup OR hot drink (like cocoa) Total calories: 1080 If you are a chocoholic, this is a great plan! There are lots of chocolate products. So far, I have had chocolate shakes, mocha shakes, vegetarian solppy joe, and a brownie and caramel meal bar. Everything has been very tasty! All the items have a minimum of 15 g of protein and very little carbs, with the exception of the meal bars. What's different for me this time around is the New Lifestyle plan include education from the start. They e-mail you a lesson plan each week that takes just a few minutes to complete. (The first lesson sent to me is called "The Process of Change." It gives some questions for thought.) I just got my product yesterday. The week prior to this, I used AdvantEdge Carb Control shakes. They are very similar to the NL shakes in calories and protein content. I also used Pria Carb Select Meal Bars, which are pretty similar as well. I found both of these things in Wal-mart. In addition to the program food, I will have a sugar free Jello if I feel a little hungry between scheduled feedings. I can drink any non-caloric beverage I choose. (That leaves out juice.) This program really fits my lifestyle. I can still have a meal in the evening with Alan without feeling like cheating. I definitely stay away from anything carby, like bread or rice. Tonight we're headed out for Chinese with our English friends. I've already determined what I am going to have, even though it is a buffet. I am going to have broiled chicken and/or shrimp and steamed veggies, plus lots of that great hot Chinese tea. I find I am steadily losing, about 1/2 pound a day right now. The average weight loss for women is 2-4 lbs a week. Just like other diets, my body will plateau for a week or two, then start losing again. The program also encourages a regular exercise routine. They recommend walking for the first 30 days, then slowly adding weight training in addition to walking. I'm taking some other supplemental things, like a multi vitamin, biotin, and calcium. They're not necessary to the program, but I'm taking them as additional insurance. So my dear Aimee--there you have it. Sorry it's sooooo long! |
Jen - I like details! It's good to hear they encourage exercise, many plans discourage it for the first few weeks. I've foudn exercise almost helps me detox my body faster. Whats your sugar content like? I am very into sugar, mostly because it doesn't do well in my body. Diet's like Atkins and South Beach always do well with me, only because you cut out sugar and wheat, which are my two problem areas. Good that you've found what works for you, are you adding exercise in yet? I'm trying to love exercise, but if it wasn't for my ipod mini I just couldn't.. heh.
Kimberley - its happy sad right?!? It's amazing how movies can bring such feelings.. Can you imagine if it was based on a real life story? Oh my.. Well I am off for one more workout.. ttyl! -Aimee |
Aimee: It's very low sugar. All the products use artificial sweetners (aspertame, I think).
I haven't really done anything towards exercise yet. It's one of those things that I keep putting off. The last time I did a diet like this I was a Curves member, and went 3-4 days a week. I know that contributed to my success, so I need to get back to doing something. The 30 minute walks are a good start. I've slacked off on water this past week due to TOM--I hate having to go extra during that time--it is such a pain! So now that it has slowed way down, I'm upping my water! |
Morning all.
I'm feeling a little quesy this morning, had a big headache and stomach problem last night. Yuck. I'm about one half to one size bigger on the bottom. I love the stretch fabric tops too. I've always had a little crush on James Garner. From the old movies, to Rockford Files. Aimee, I love beans. My MIL makes the best black beans, I could eat them every day. Are you eating meat? maybe throw in some chicken or turkey? If you like yams, I eat them all the time. You can boil them and mash them with a little butter and syrup. Or nuke them. Something I think you'd like is tomatoes and blanched broccoli marinated in olive oil and white wine vinegar with a little salt and pepper. Really good, and easy. Jill, I bet after you start your new job it will be a lot easier to get back into a normal eating pattern. I always have a tough time when life goes into a big flux. Congrats on the 16s, K. It's been a good 20 years since I've seen that size, ha. I'm wavering between 20 and 18 now. This Sunday through Wednesday I'll be gone, most likely without internet. But I'll be here in the meantime :) |
I've had an "aha" moment reguarding why I am so darn tired and headachy! Lack of sleep, well not exactly, more like lack of constant sleep. I wake up at 2-3am for antibiotics, which is usually 3 hours after I've gone to sleep. And then I'm up at 6-7am because I have to pee from all the water I have to drink with those evil pills. I thought it was weird all the sleep I was getting, turns out, I'm likely so tired from having such a wakeup sleep. The kicker was this morning I woke up with tired feet, and a query from my brother as to why I was sleeping so much.
Jen - How long will you do this diet for? Aspartame is, sometimes a necessary evil. I can't have it, it makes my throat swell up and I have a hard time breathing, also it triggers migraines. All artificial sweetners do, so when I give up sugar, I give up all sweets, except for fruit! Marge - 4 days without you? Hmm... The only reason I'll survive is because Josh will be here to talk to me.. otherwise I'd have to cancel your trip, sorry, heh. I am eating chicken, infact, I made a stirfry last night with chicken breast, asparagus, broccoli, onions and garlic. With brown rice as well! I don't know about yams, I'm pretty unadventurous when it comes to trying new foods! heh Well I've had a little snack, and my internet is being stupid.. I'm not even sure if this will post.. Grr, my brother pays 120/month and gets pretty shitty service at times. The people come out, and then it works for 3-4 days and then acts up, he's been dealing with this for almost 2 months. I can't imagine, I'd be kicking some arse. I am off.. bbl! -Aimee |
Aimee: The diet is safe enough to stay on for quite awhile. I'm not sure how long I'll stay on it--at least six months I imagine.
|
Aimee, if your throat swells and you have difficulty breathing, that's a classic allergic reaction. It's important you don't use anything with the ingredients that do this to you; allergic sensitivity increases with exposure and you may find yourself going into a full anaphylactic shock. Keep Benadryl on hand and if you have any of those symptoms, take it right away.
My mom got itchy hives after eating Jasmine rice. It happened three times and each time was progressively worse, so she was able to piece together what did it to her. Her doctor said food allergies like that can come on suddenly and, with increased sensitivity to the allergens, be fatal very quickly. I love the calorie-saving benefits of aspartame, but it scares me. A high school friend of mine had severe reactions to it. I found an article at About.com which explains some of the pros and cons of aspartame. On a sidenote, Howie had his wisdom tooth pulled today. He only had one, and because it had no partner below it, it just kept growing. Funny thing is, we just watched Finding Nemo for the first time last night, complete with the dentist scenes. LOL The dentist took molds of my teeth so he can make a custom splint (night guard) for me. The athletic mouth guard just is too bulky and isn't doing me any good. I read about certain vitamins and minerals being helpful to stop bruxism (tooth grinding/clenching). This site lists the ones I read about, plus more. Whaddaya think, Aimee the Supplement Queen? |
Kimberley - definitely a cal/mag, especially since we are women, and we exercise. I take 2 mal/mag in the morning and 2 at night, they will also help you sleep better! Definitely a Vit B complex, and DEFINITELY Vit C, you'll also notice they'll aid with weight loss, not tons, but 1/2 - 1 pound a week-ish. I'd definitely invest in the above. Aspartame scares me a little too, but mostly because of the reactions I've had to it, I avoid it at all costs now. It's funny, we were at a restaurant and I ordered a coke, well they brought diet coke, and I had to send it back saying I was allergic, the waiter looked at me funny. Poo on him!
Jen - if I had thought you were ONLY drinking liquids and not eating a meal a day, I'd be a little worried! I was going to do this liquid cleanse a while back, 10 days no food, just this drink, it was a mix of fresh squeezed lemon, organic maple syrup, and cayenne. I made it thru one day, the drink tasted like crap cuz I put too much cayenne in it, and I was at work the entire day... your body can do amazing detoxing without all the crap we put in it! On that cleansing note, my brother and I discussed doing a colon cleanse, not the food kind, but the hydra-therapy one, basically, they insert a tube and flush your colon out. At the end you are given flora to ensure the proper bacteria returns... I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this, I like the idea but worry about it hurting etc.. Also when I was reading on a local site they wanted to do it multiple times, and I'm not really here long enough for that. We may ditch that idea. MY walk this morning kicked my ***, I walked for 55 minutes, and I realllly wasn't sure I'd make it home, I was a little light headed and spacey. I guess increasing by 10 minutes was too much today after the sleep I had. But I'll keep plugging away, I hope to work up to be able to walk an hour and 30 minutes, I think this is how long the 10km walk/run we have will take me to complete if i just walk it. I'm going to have lunch.. ttyl! -Aimee |
Aimee--over in the 20s section, there's a thread about detoxing. I pretty much think it's pointless, and colon cleansing that involves actually inserting anything can actually cause a lot more harm than good. I have a post over there that refers to a lot of articles on the topic (and NOT from any sites that are trying to sell detoxing/colon cleansing produts or services!). It's here if you'd like to check it out:
http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79558 I'm not trying to be a downer or anything, but doing detoxing for weight loss is pretty crazy, IMO. Also, these people seem to think it will flush out pesticides and other toxins that are stored in fat cells and whatnot, but I've never found any research to prove that's true. I'm not against it, though, incases where it is a spiritual issue or when people do it in order to get back on track/refocus their healthy habits. I know I've done similar things (not with juices or pills, but with chowing on only whole foods for a few days) in order to sort of get back in the groove. I just don't want you doing anything potentially dangerous or putting yourself through something unpleasant if it won't really be beneficial :^: I have actually experienced full-blown anaphylactic shock first hand, and I can tell you, it was probably the scariest day of my life! While most people start with mild symptoms (hives, itchiness, slight wheezing, whatever) and get progressively worse with each encounter with the allergen, I just went all full-out from the start :dizzy: I took over-the-counter Naproxen Sodium (Aleve brand) for some cramps. I had taken it before and NEVER had a problem (but an allergy can begin at any time--scary). I ended up in the ER so swollen that I literally had NO blood pressure because my blood vessels were too restricted by the extreme swelling (they tried an automatic bp cuff, a manual one, and an extra-large one because at first they just thought their cuff was broken!). I could hear what was going on around me, but I couldn't see anything. The doctor told my mother that if I'd arrive as little as 3 minutes later, I would have died :o So yeah, that's my recommendation for steering clear of any known allergens  |
Man, that must have been scary, Jill!! One of my biggest fears in life is not being able to breathe....whether it be drowning, choking or being suffocated.
Aimee, I think calling the diet a liquid diet is a bit of a misnomer now. I guess they still call it that because about half the diet is liquid. Speaking of liquid, I have really upped my water, and my trips to the potty have sure shown it! |
Jill - I definitely don't do detoxing for weight loss, it's generally for a health factor. I know that Ihave a lot of "stuff" built up in my system, I can feel it if that makes sense? I am firstly going for the veggies and fruit, no milk or wheat, and staying away from obvious sugars. The first time I did a detox was on a recommendation from a doctor, I have some stomach issues from earlier.. "eating problems", and my stomach gets off balance really easily. It really helped, and I never spent so much time in the washroom, and the other problems I was having cleared up. I had a yeast infection for months, and a bladder infection which wasn't showing up as a bladder infection on any tests. It all went away :) and most never returned! I know I'm more likely to think detoxing, and cleansing is a good idea because people around me have done it for years. Who knows if it makes a difference..
Yah, thats a VERY scarey experience! Phew, I cannot imagine. Jen - I with you on the drowning thing, scared the crap outta me. As for those bathroom breaks, omg, the first few days I was here I was peeing every 2 seconds, it was just downright annoying. 4 more days until I weigh in.. I sure hope all this is doing SOMETHING, I'd like to say I feel better.. but I'll report more on Monday, gotta at least give this over a week to settle in. That walk is still kicking my arse! I suspect its from lack of sleep. I spent the afternoon watching old recording of Celebrity Fit Club, the 3rd one. I may have to look up how it ended, the recordings stopped with the second weigh in with Gunner Nelson. -Aimee |
I saw Fit Club 3 all the way through....it's kind of like watching a train wreck, isn't it? I wouldnt say it was particularly inspiring weight loss wise...except maybe Kelly LeBrock and Gunnar Nelson. Everyone else kind of half assed it.
|
It's my last day, it's my last day *doin' a little dance* :carrot:
New job Monday--WOOHOO! Geoing away party at work was yesterday--pizza and make-your-own ice cream sundaes  It was FABULOUS! One thing about the new job that I am looking forward to is a new routine. I won't be able to use "job stress/transition" as my excuse for eating way of plan anymore :p Aimee--I guess my thing with these detox ideas is that if we didn't eat the crap that bothered our bodies in the first place, then we wouldn't have to detox! I know that's not always possible, though :^: |
It really is a train wreck! They cast a weirdo in every series, someone they know will go over the edge at some point. In a way it's kinda sad, these mostly washed out celebrities being portrayed however the producers see fit in the cutting room.
|
Yay Jill!! Just a few more hours and you will be outta there!
Kimberley: The saddest this year was watching Jeff Conaway crash and burn. I hope he is doing better. |
I hate hate my one student loan, they don't take online banking! Who doesn't do that?!?! I dunno if it's possible, but I'll see if I can take out a loan to pay them, I'd rather deal with my OWN bank, at least they aren't moody teenagers. Everytime I call I get a *****y person. Annoying!
I think the core of the show is a good idea... I didn't get to see Jeff Conaway on the shows we had recorded, doesn't sound very good. I can't find any results, how did Young MC do? He had lost quite a bit of weight! I am starting to prepare myself incase I don't lose any weight on Monday, I imagine if I don't I'll cry all day long.. how do you prepare for that btw? i am off to eat some oats and apple with soymilk.. ttyl! -Aimee |
Aimee, I bet you'd love yams. They're creamy and sweet. I love them. You know, I can't eat brown rice, it gives me horrible gas. I've heard news reports that getting interrupted sleep can be worse than getting no sleep. I believe that, when Chloe (our cat) goes into high geer and wakes us up a couple of times a night, it's horrible. Hey, don't get too obsessed with the numbers on the scale. You're doing a lot to improve your health. Give yourself credit.
Wow, Howie's lucky to just have one wisdom tooth, Kimberley. I thought I was lucky to have 3. I remember telling the dentist to give me as much drugs as they could, heh heh. I'd be interested to hear if the supplements help with the Bruxism. that is a scary story, Jill. Do you (or do you need to) wear some sort of medical bracelet saying that you're allergic to that now? I know when I went from being a junk food fiend to Jenny Craig it felt like I was detoxing. My skin actually went through a lot of changes. I'd have to agree with you about the colon thing, sounds pretty awful. I had a roommate years back who started her health regime by not eating for three days. That's a long time to go without food, but she did end up losing weight (healthily) and getting into a good exercise routine. Congrats on your last day. :carrot: Jen, my brother (who's 10 years older) used to put a pillow over my face when we were kids (he thought it was funny!). Nice way to give me dreams about being suffocated. I got my New York driver's license today, they don't put your weight on it, heh heh. My hair looks a little mane like, but the pic isn't too bad, ha. I thought I'd lose all the TOM weight this week, but I didn't. :( I was hoping to get down in case I went overboard while my friend was here. I'm just going to have to rev up the will power and not splurge eating wise. Kind of a drag. Have a good night. |
Marge - I'll get Josh to cook me yam's when he's here.. I gotta be willing to try new things! No weight on the NY license, I could handle that. I can't really wait until I can get a new license pic, the one I have now is SO horrible, doesn't really look like me either. Well in my opinion anyways. Don't worry about that weight, just concentrate on more veggies and fruit! I w on't get too obsessed with the scale.. infact, if it gets bad I might get my bro to hide it, heh. I am obsessed with measurements though!
Well I wasn't going to go for a walk today, but its so beautiful out that I couldn't resist. I ventured off my regular pathway, found some GREAT neighbourhoods. Wow there are some beautiful houses around here, I'm thinking its a fairly wealthy area of town. I am off to watch some movies... ttyl! -Aimee |
i think I know why I've never really fully dedicated myself to weight loss, it's fricking HARD! You almost have to think about it 24/7! I am eating a lot better, exercising, and I'm noticing a loss in inches.. these are all really great things. But how do people stay on this for so long? I feel borderline obsessed! And plateau's? I don't know that this is something I'm REALLY prepared to deal with, in the past it's been easy to blow off a plateau because I wasn't giving 100%. I am enjoying the hard work, and its easy to do all of this here, I really hope that I break some barrier so that it becomes easy to do at home. I am just talking.. and on that, I don't think we are really holding eachother accountable. I don't know if this was something you all are interested in.. I don't fully know how to do that. I want my heart to literally jump when I hear one of you loses a pound! This could totally be my own thing, you may all feel this.. I feel the need to get more involved. Let me know if you don't want me to get TOO involved, I know this can be a private process..
That was a little drunken rant... now if only I was drunk on more than vitamin water ;) Have a good night.. -Aimee |
Aimee, I love walking through new neighborhoods. I like walking through my neighborhood at night, then you see all the apartments and houses with their lights on, and it's cozy. There are some fancy mansions on the other side of the slope.
I agree, weight loss is hard. For me, I try to get into a pattern that's conscientious but not obessed, it can be easy for me to get obsessed with it. If I get too obsessed, then I start to drive myself and Rob crazy. But if I don't pay enough attention, I let myself slide too much and the weight loss starts to stall. Routine can be a good thing :) . I wouldn't even worry about plateaus. Just my opinion, but I find it's much easier to deal with what's on my plate now, and worry about what's down the line once I get to it. Feel free to get as involved as you want in my process. I know I could be doing a better job at this. |
I'm off until Wednesday or Thursday. Have a good week, everyone.
|
I guess I can't be so involved when my internet doesn't work for most of a day, eh?
Marge - have FUN! Eat good, and lots of walking!! :) I shall miss you! I did NOT do good yesterday, I felt really sick most of the day and ended up not eating, very very bad. I ate at 2am though, eek, we were out and I stopped myself from having too much, I had a 7 layer burrito from taco bell. It did make my tummy feel better... how ironic! I did manage to get a run in though, turns out we are only going about 2-2.5 miles. I just compare it to the fact I used to run 3 miles a day, and that doesn't seem so great. I'll build it up! -Aimee |
Wow, Aimee, I don't think I could even run 1/4 mile without practically passing out, so you're doing great! Maybe all your tummy needed was something, so whether it was Taco **** or a perfectly balanced meal, it was probably just happy to not be empty anymore ;)
HAVE FUN, MARGE!! I just spent a few hours in the kitchen. I made some more blueberry muffins for Jeff for breakfast during the week (although I used a few too many blueberries--oops!--oh well, extra antioxidants :p). We also went grocery shopping and bought TONS of food, so when we got back, I took a bit of time to clean out the fridge and reorganize the freezer and cabinets so that everything would fit. Then I spent a while washing and cutting up a bunch of fruit and made a big fruit salad! I sliced up some fresh strawberries, watermelon, red seedless grapes, and kiwi and also added a bag of frozen peach slices and a bag of frozen pineapple chunks--YUM! Now I think I'm ready for a nap :dizzy: Ooh, I also bought some more Slim Fast type shakes. I still have some chocoalte royale Slim Fast Optima shakes, plus I bought some Atkins vanilla ones (I think maybe they are being discontinued? They were $4.99 instead of the regular $6.99, but maybe they were just on sale), some "high protein" Slim Fast strawberry ones, and some Slim Fast "low carb diet" chocolate ones. I checked for the EAS, but they just had the rehular, not the low-carb (or high protein?), and the Luna ones were WAY high in carbs, so I didn't get those. I wish I could buy just 1 can of each kind to try rather than 4 or 6 at a time--I just want to find out which ones I like best :^: Sooooooo excited about starting the new job tomorrow!!! :D |
Hiya ladies:
Jill, good luck tomorrow! Will be looking forward to a report! As far as the shakes go, yeah, it's too bad you can't sample just one! If you lived close enough I would send you an EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control shake! You would definitely like the taste. Aimee: Losing weight IS hard! It is on my mind 24/7. Always has been--always will be, no matter what I weigh. It is part of my identity, I suppose....I really HATE that. Marge: have a great time! We look forward to seeing you back in a few days! It's been a nice weekend weather wise...lots of sun, even though it is a chilly 50 degrees (which is COLD in Florida!). Did laundry, Sat around the pool with our friends yesterday, went to dinner and Barnes & Noble last night, then went to see Alan's folks this morning. Now we're back home--Alan is working at his desk and I am surfing and chatting. Will be fixing dinner in a bit, then some good television--Simpsons and the Sopranos. Will see y'all tomorrow! |
Alright, so all of my babbling about being prepared for not losing weight on this weigh in tomorrow? Well Josh forgot my regular scale, so we went and BOUGHT a scale, it's way off my regular one. Its likely right, but now I won't know if I lost any weight this week. Josh did bring a diff scale, I got on it, reset it (it wasn't zero'ed), so I changed it by 5 pounds, and then it said the SAME weight as before. I know it shouldn't make a huge difference, but I'm not really prepared to weigh this much... who knew a scale could really crush someone so much.. I admit I've cried.
Jill - you have to be excited about the new job tomorrow! I hope all goes perfectly :) Jen - While I'm prepared to deal with weight loss, you can't always control your surroundings, we went out Sat night and they ONLY had chips and dip, and that was to be my dinner. I went for salsa and baked taco chips, but not a good dinner! I'm going to do all my measurements tomorrow, gotta try and focus on some positives, I'm pretty bummed about this new weight. I totally thought I'd make it below 200 for this summer, I got another 1-2 months of work. Alright, too much complaining I suppose.. -Aimee |
Aimee: I know how disappointing it is to see such a difference on the scale. I know the numbers on the scale SHOULDN'T matter, but they do. It's the only immediate tangible proof that what we are doing is working. Don't worry sweetie--soon enough, your weight will no longer begin with a 2!
As for me, my official weigh in was today--another 6 lbs gone, for a total of 12 lbs gone in the two weeks I've been on this new plan. I've lost a total of 19.5 lbs since the beginning of the year, and I am down 30 pounds from my highest weight ever. I would like to be at 299 (another 11 lbs) for my birthday on April 15th, which is about three weeks away. It's possible! |
Hi chicks! I'm taking a break from packing. Yup! that's right p-a-c-k-i-n-g! We FINALLY found a house! So I haven't been avoiding you all on purpose, but it is so time consuming. If you would like to see the house it's at www.starhomerealty.com under their 'featured listings' it's the one at 700 N. Mason St or on realtor.com the MLS number is 20509840. We're pretty excited, only took 8 months to find one!
Weight is forever waiting to drop. I hate all the staying the same. Grr. I'm in 18 pants and misses xl tops though so i'm losing some inches somwhere! gotta get back to work. hope to catch up more often... |
Sara, it's ADORABLE! And that is a lot of house for the price!! Something like that in Florida where I live would be twice the price!
Best wishes to you and your partner! |
Jen - thank you.. I was pretty crushed. This morning I am weighing in at 258.2, thats 59 pounds to get out of this 200 stuff.. I am closer to 300. Alright, no thinking, just doing. I am having a healthy breakfast, definitely going for a run.. just keep doing what I'm doing. I did lost 8 inches, I can't discredit that at ALL. And when I started all of this, I really made inches my goal, not pounds.
Phew, I'm going to go eat my breakfast.. and rebound quickly from that silly scale CRAP!! -Aimee |
YOOHOO.....anyone home??
Aimee, how are things looking to you today? I hope better~! |
Jen - this is crazy, eh? Just you and I... Things are alright today, I definitely went a little overboard yesterday, about 1900 calories and 34 grams of fat! I could have done worse damage, and I did still exercise. I gotta get better on the food thing if I plan to get out of these 250's soon! I'd ideally like to be losing 1 pound every 2 days, lol.. I aim high, eh? I feel like i'm exercising enough to be at that level tho...
Today is Josh's bday, and we are going shopping! I like shopping, even if it's not supposed to be for me... hehe.. I better go get ready! Have a good day! PS - I'm insanely jealous of that weight loss... -Aimee |
