Mary - I wished all that exercise would reflect in the scales - I jump on everyday - yeah I know obsessive but I would like dramatic weightloss like on TBL LOL I know its not going to happen but if I lost 1kg a week I'd be happy but I am not, I'm lucky if I get 500g.

I finally got into calorieking.com.au this morning- I am on wireless broadband so I wonder if that stopped me from registering myself - after a series of back and forwards emails, I joined up, I like the site so far, I like that it has an online food and exercise diary with all calories added in.

This weekend I dont have my son - my ex picked him this morning, so this afternoon I am going to the gym and unfortunately I have plans to go out with the girls to dinner and a movie, just hope I can use the will power! I overeat a lot when socialising- just dont know when to stop dipping - love savoury foods LOL

Tomorrow I will enjoy the sleep in but with the wet and overcast weather I hope I can be motivated to do something active tomorrow rather than stay snug in the blankets all morning and read LOL

Hope you all have a good weekend and I will check in again tomorrow arvo.

As for BB-cant wait for Sunday's episode where they reveal the couple and Billy...

I'm doing SureSlim. Its the one program I've used that I've lost a decent ammount of weight on. (I started two years ago and lost about 15kg before falling off) Weight Watchers dosen't work for me, and I don't agree with Jenny Craig, Lite & Easy and so on.

I do have PCOS so I need a medical approach, not a 'one size fits all' a la Weight Watchers. I think its great for most people, just not for me.

SureSlim have a maitenance (ugh!) program, which is the most important thing for me. I only eat every five hours and am quite controlled on what I can and can't eat (low carb, no meat or shellfish ATM cause I have high uric acid) but they reintoruce foods back into your diet through the maintenece period (which is two months) to help you maintain.

Renny Sue - you go girl! That's great news about your weight loss.

Vanessa I think 1kg/week is a lot to ask yourself to do. That's over 2lb, and most dieticians etc recommend that you lose 1-2lb a week over a longer period of time. I've read in lots of places that it increases your chance of success.

I've been doing my weight loss for 38 weeks now and average 1lb/week (or 0.45kg). It may not seem like much compared with other people, but it adds up.

And the most important thing for me is that I am doing things that I know I will still be able to do on a daily basis in ten years from now.

For the last four weeks I have been at a standstill with my weight loss - but at least I am still here, and haven't gained very much weight. I feel like I am back on track this last week - and am going to be really disappointed if I don't drop at LEAST 0.5kg at tomorrow's weigh-in.

Taking it slowly also gives me the chance to reflect on the big issues about emotional eating and self-worth. I don't think that's a lesson we can absorb in a short period of time… but in the last 9 months I have changed so many things about my lifestyle (some big ones, some barely noticeable) - and I'm a lot more confident now that I am going to make it to my goal weight.

Anyway, I didn't plan to come in here this morning to waffle - it just dribbled out

Today I am going to:

• Walk for an hour;
• Drink at least 2 bottles of water;
• Eat no more than 1700 calories;
• and do my upper body weights.

Aside from that I'm going to potter around, watch the Fremantle Dockers play footy - and watch Big Brother to see how many people have picked the relationship secret.

Lindor what are you up to?

Ani-I apreciated what you said I thought you are supposed to lose 1kg a week, I feel better knowing thatI should be aiming for the 1/2kg. And I know slow and steady sees better lasting results. I think what makes it frustrating is that you make the lifestyle change in your life and I want to see instanteous results - shows like TBL make that dream seem possible- but I dont have a personal trainer and I am not working out over 3 hours a day like they were.

Renny Sue- My friend did Sureslim too, and lost a lot of week, she looked really good, she also has PCOS... unfortunately I dont have any extra money at the moment-I have car registration and insurance to pay this week plus my house contents and buildings insurance is due in the next month... as well as paying for the usual child care, petrol, and standard bills, I am concentrating on paying for good food choices at the supermarket. I would like to be on a strict plan outlined especially for my body type and issues, at this stage calorieking.com.au is my source of guidance.

I was wondering does any one here take any vitamin supplements - this has been one of my thoughts since lasts sunday in the paper - it indicated which vitamins you should take if... and on today tonight they listed some vitamins to assist when losing weight - I wasnt paying too much attention but remember Fish Oil, and Green tea were some.

Vanessa I understand the frustration of feeling like it takes forever… and one of the things I do to keep myself motivated is to treat the scales as just one of several tools to track my progress.

I also measure myself every three weeks - from neck to ankle, because it's amazing where weight comes off.

Shows like The Biggest Loser are completely unrealistic. They train for up to six hours a day, and are under constant supervision - so they are fully accountable. They are also trying to do "extreme" weight loss - and most people who go on that show have put weight back on.

I actually think it's more useful to set small goals every month. If you beat them you feel great, and it's a lot better than setting high goals and constantly feeling like you have failed.

For example - my goals for May are to lose 2kg and 1.5cm from my waist.

As for vitamins and supplements, be careful. A lot of them are a waste of money - there has been some research to suggest that Fish Oil will help with losing "tummy fat", but it's preliminary.

I take Calcium, Magnesium and sometimes add a multivitamin - but I try and get as much from my food as possible.

But there are lots of different opinions about taking supplements.

I take magnesium (for blood pressure control), iron tablets (iron deficiency no matter HOW MUCH meat or green leafy veg I eat), and occassionally have a multivitamin at night if I feel a bit blerk!! I usually wake up in the morning feeling better.

Speaking of blerk.... I've had a crap few days. Eating nothing but garbage and moping around. Don't know why. Even work seemed to much to cope with this week.

Sorry to say I am not holding out much hope for tomorrows weigh in.

I've not cooked very well this week and I've drank only about 2 cups of water a day, have eaten a 100gm packet of chips, creamy pasta and bacon (twice), a block of chocolate (over 3 days) and 2 glasses of coke. I am of the type that CAN'T indulge even a little or it turns around and bites me on the bum.

Ani I've tried the measuring thing, but can't seem to do it right. I've followed every manual there is but still my measurements don't seem to be in line with my losses. I mean, I've lost about 10kg, yet my boobs still fall out of my bras.

Will catch all tomorrow

What's an eldorado?

Glad to hear your bub is better Vonni!

I've had a busy week - went to the podiatrist regarding my foot, and sure enough I have acute achilles tendonitis. Got taped up and have to get an orthotic - about $450!! Apparently I have a massively severe overpronation problem. Bugger. The good news is with the orthotic fitted the doc thinks I'll have much more comfort just in walking as well as running etc.

Apart from that, my first niece, and my brother's first child, Grace Kathryn was born on Anzac Day (fitting - my bro's in the military!). She looks gorgeous, and I can't wait to get to Melbourne to see her. Mum offered to buy me flights down, but I've got uni paper and my US nursing exam in the next 2 weeks, so I'll have to go after that.

Phew. What else? Been cycling a bit, getting used to cars trying to run me over, and been swimming again. Also tried aqua aerobics - wasn't a huge fan. $10 and only 350 calories burnt!!

Oh my goodness, ladies it is SO good to be back here again.

It's been so long because I have no computer at home and this site was blocked at work! I don't know why, but today I'm able to get on so hopefully that will continue.

A lot has been happening with me ......

I've been officially diagnosed with depression. Had a meltdown a few weeks ago and had to have a week off work. I've been going to a counsellor and even a psychiatrist and am now taking some antidepressants which are helping.

Still not feeling 100% and yesterday I broke things off with the wonderful man that I've spent the last 8 months with and I really feel awful for hurting him but it felt like the right thing to do for me at the moment.

I've actually been looking after myself pretty well lately, have cut down on alcohol massively and have only had 5 cigarettes in the last 2 weeks. I've taken up Bikram yoga (a 90 minute yoga class in a really hot room) and feel wonderful for doing that and have kept up with the gym too.

Haven't lost any weight, but feel well within myself and I'm happy with that at the moment.

So big changes with me. Thanks for listening, hope you all are well.

LittleKiwi!! I was wondering where you had got to! And how great is it to hear you sounding so positive?

Are you going to join us in our Team Effort thingo we got going here now? Basically we are one massive overweight group and the group is making an effort to lose all that weight...it is in my ticker and it is explained in more detail a few pages back.

Vonni...hang in there mate. We know this journey is made up of good days/weeks and bad days/weeks. We will get through this so long as we keep at it.

Ani, you know it makes me smile when you lose weight after a few difficult weeks. You have sounded a little more focused this week so are you going to let me smile this morning...please?

Although I have been watching some Big Bother I can't say I am a fan. I think it is a nasty way to mess with peoples heads. Although now days I guess the contestants have more of an idea that their heads are going to be messed with big time!

Having said that ...how did the news of the relationship go down with the others? And what about Billy? That was aired here at midnight and I was snug in bed by then so I missed it!

I've just noticed the time!!!

So quickly...

...despite a topsy turvy week, from over eating to under eating, exercising to not exercising and drinking very little water, I have managed to bring myself down 1.4kg!!! Somehow?

I am not complaining

How did the rest of us go?

littlekiwi *hugs* I'm still fairly new here, but I've suffered from depression. Its an evil, evil disease. For me councelling helped HEAPS and if I keep up my exercise I can stay off my meds thankfully. Do whatever works in keeping that black ******* down.

just quickly - Littlekiwi glad to have you back. Hope you are ok. I can imagine you would feel bad about yr B/F but as you said - you need to do whats right for you and makes YOU happy at the moment. Thats not selfish, thats reasonable. Everyone needs to realise that if you're not happy within yourself you aren't the best person you can be. I try telling my other half that. He can't understand wanting ME time. I tried to explain if I am feeling better withint myself, I can be a better wife and better mother and better person all round.

Oh shoot bub waking and crying, will finish this post later -

Oh btw..... sorry guys I gained about 600gm

Little Kiwi - yay, you're back. I know how frustrating it is to not have your computer for a while. At least you've been diagnosed now, with your depression, and that's a big step towards getting better

OK Lindor - SMILE! I dropped 1.1kg this week and weighed in this morning at 88.8kg… phew!!! Would hate to be responsible for you having a bad day

I'm really restless - just haven't settled since the move, and I know it's affecting my focus and everything else. I need to come up with a plan!

As for Big Brother, I'm growing to hate that show. I watched a little of it last night. When they revealed 'the couple' and then Billy there was the predictable shock, nervous giggles, and then rushing to embrace everyone. BB has added the twist of earning $50,000 towards the prize pot for successfully deceiving the rest of the house. Hmmm…

OK - must get ready for the day. This week's goals are to aim for 88.3kg, walk 5 days, eat well and try and work out what I need to do to get my life back in balance!
