The problem is, I don't think what that thing actually was... I just named it tart... it had puddingy stuff inside... I'm so confused about it!

Carla, we've talked about protein before, I honestly don't really care... No to meat!!!
I love milk, but the one here doesn't taste too well, so I don't drink as much as I normally would. The only fruit smoothies I can get here are loaded with calories, like 1200 cal for a medium smoothie. And I don't have the equipment to make my own - they're no good unless blended.

I'm still struggling with my goal. I ate 6 servings of fruit/vegetable Tuesday but only 3 yesterday I will try again today for 5 servings!

Did my 30 min walk today - wimped out on the rush home at lunch to dose the munchkin. Tomorrow is weigh-in at the diet doc. There's been no new change on my home scale, but I may be under last week's visit. It felt nice today - I fit much more comfortably into a pair of pants I'd been just squeezing into. Still a long, long way to go, but every ounce counts.

No more work booked until mid-January! Hooray! Back to a life of sloth and sleep-ins!

Sushi, I swear I'm not trying to make you eat meat! Vegetable protein is great too - legumes and tofu, for example. And that'll be all on that topic from me.

Default I'm back for a moment!

Hi Ladies - been missing you - I have had the week from heck! My student workers have been workikng me overtime, one quit suddenly, I have been out and up late every night, I have a work party and DH's office party Friday - neither of which I am ready for . . . I can't wait for Saturday. No exercise, eating OP everyday, and struggling with water again. Running too much to get it down. I was sooo proud of myself tonight - went to church women's pot luck - had a little bit of everyone's dish but had no desserts execept 3 candy covered dates Did you hear me? No petite fours, pumpkin or sweet potatoe pie, no cake, brownies . . . and beleive me there was plenty.

Fish - for Tuesday's goal - hang in there - I know you can get all those veggies and fruits in - you are "weigh" ahead of me on that one!

Bonnie 4 whole days! And congrats on your pound down! You are awesome - There is another "5th" day out there this week. Dust yourself off and get busy!

eesabella 3 days and 1 more day to go on your challenge - you are doing great.

carla You go Carla - what a week! I am glad the diet doctor is giving you the exta boost you need.

Sushi on your 4 lbs! Wow! I am afraid I have to agree with everyone else - a tart is a sweet even though the name suggests something different But with a 4lb loss - who's counting a small transgression?

cyjolly - glad you found us again. We change every Monday - so bookmark the Support Groups main page and you should be able to locate the most recent Week at a Time Challenge Thread! How many days of goals have you met so far this week?

On the spinning issue, I struggled with the treadmill until I started reading on it - it makes the time pass and I don't get so bored. What are you ladies doing or watching while spinning? If it continues to be boring you will lose your motivation to exercise

Have a great Friday everyone. I may not get to post until Saturday. Until then, thank you to everyone for keeping the thread alive.

I'm shocked and amazed to say that I ended up getting my walk in today! Not sure about total duration, but a short walk in the woods with an out-of-town friend, then walked to dinner and back. At least 40 snowy minutes. We were out near the groomed xcountry trails, and there were a lot of skinny people out there enjoying the sport. If there's still snow after the weekend, i think i'll be out there too, or maybe a nice snowshoe walk on the weekend.

Today there was a lot of wine and chocolate, which was a bit of a let-down (nowhere near as good as it should have been), but there you are. I'm seriously thinking of starting a fairly strict one-week challenge on this thread two days early: from tommorow to next Saturday, no evening munching after dinner, strict adherence to my diet doc's rules, and exercise every day. Sort of a prep for the Xmas calorie-fest. We'll see.

Bonnie, we all have those days (see above), but if you're being good most of the time, it won't hurt in the long run. As long as you don't let it discourage you. (I think that little lecture was actually for me...) As for my cats, for some strange reason my little kitten is suddenly becoming slightly more affectionate! Except of course when I have the meds bottle in my hand, or right after the drops go in. She's been letting me pick her up without squirming, and I turn to mush...

Mscat, I'm glad your week from **** is over, and I hope the weekend gives you a chance to recharge those batteries. Thanks for finding the time and energy to come and cheer us on anyway! As for spinning, it's not really boring so much as a lunatic endurance event. It's usually in a group, with an outrageously slim, fit, mutant leader who tells you when to stand or sit or increase resistance, with blaring music and dimmed lights. To give you an idea of the intensity level, where I go they have fans going, the back door wide open even in deepest winter, and we're still all sweating like pigs. Reading would be pretty much impossible, between the darkened room and the sweat and the fact you're hanging on to those handlebars and plugging away up imaginary hills with your head down... (Yes, you have to be slightly unhinged to do it. But it feels so good when you stop....)

And now I'll stop this post. Hello to all those I haven't addressed individually, and have a good weekend.

Where is everybody? Is our thread TOO challenging? Or is it just a weekend slump?

Here I come Carla

I blew the rest of the week, more by choice than anything...
It's Monday noon here already, and I'm starting anew.

This week's challenge:
10 min stationary bike (15 on days when I have no activities and on the weekend) PLUS no sweets PLUS no food after 7 pm.

Good luck to everyone!

Default Evening Ladies

Well I got up and completed a 30 minute workout on Saturday and did another 30 minute workout today I did great on water yesterday (saturday) but I only have 50 oz in so far. Getting ready to get the last 24 in before bed. Primed my sunroom and living room walls yesterday and painted them today. Looks great and ready for the holidays.

carla good for you on getting your workout in - I agree that many of us are MIA especially with the holidays upon us.

Sushi hang in there with your new goals for the week. I know you will have a strong showing this week.

don't forget everyone to post your weights in tomorrow a.m. so we can see who is going to be on the scoreboard.

Have a great start of the week!

I couldn't find this week's new thread, but wanted to post anyway because the scale was good to me! Down another two pounds, in spite of Friday's transgressions. Maybe being under 190 for the new year isn't such a crazy idea after all? It's amazing - all I needed to do to lose weight was to eat less and move more! Someone should write a book about the concept!

I didn't get any exercise Saturday or Sunday, apart from cleaning out much of a filing cabinet. I'm a packrat, and find it hard to ditch any papers that were once useful or "important". There's still a lot there, but down by at least half, and much neater. While I was sorting, I found a graph I had made up in 2001 after a successful stint at WW - I went from 182 in July of 2000 to around 150 in Nov 2001, then to 160 in Jan 2002. And, unfortunately, where the graph left off, the weight gain took over. Nonetheless, I know I can get there, especially if I lay off the wine and chocs.

Cat, good to hear from you, and good for you for the exercise and water successes. Would you like to come do some redecorating at my house? I'm not very good at painting - not patient enough to prepare properly, or to cover everything the way I should.

Sushi, you're a brave girl. I can't even pretend I'm not going to eat after 7 pm. I am trying to stick to fruit or milk or lean protein if I want a snack, and that's hard enough. But if I COULD manage to not eat after dinner, there would probably be a lot less of me a lot sooner.

This week's challenge: at least 30 min walk OR 15 min Gazelle OR equivalent exercise every day. And I'll try to do the foot stretches a doctor recommended for my PF. I see the orthotics guys on Thursday, and want to be ready to roll when my new insoles are ready, before Christmas i hope. Of course, once I have the orthotics, my excuse for not walking too much will just melt away.
