"Every-Day" 21-Day Challenge -- Make it happen!!
Okay, everyone, as is becoming the tradition, I start a new thread when I personally start a new challenge. Also, some people may have trouble downloading a long thread, so I like to start new ones.
Below is a short explanation of how this challenge works so all you newcomers can take a look and decide if you're game or not! I hope you are! Hop aboard and enjoy the ride. We've got a great bunch of supportive people, so I hope you'll give us a try. A lot of people try for a while and then disappear.. I hope some of you will keep trying. There is NO shame in starting over. Remember, it's not over till you give up. And our motto around here is: NEVER GIVE UP!!...Just start OVER!! EXPLANATION: It works like this: you decide you'll do something for 21 days straight, every single day, so keep it doable. Then you count ....one through 21.....and if you flub it, you MUST go back to zero and start over again. Everyone will be on different days. You can start anytime. You get ONE "pause day" for your first challenge and one more for each perfect round of 21 days you complete up to a maximum of three days. With a pause day you pause in your counting and continue the next day with the number you left off with. Pause days are NOT substitutes for days, i.e. Day 12 -- Day 13 -- Pause Day -- Day 14..... I suggest taking a pause day late in the game (better to go back to Day 1 early on) if you need a break or screw up when you're well into the challenge, meaning, when you're on Day 15 or something like that. In any case, the trick is to keep going. The momentum builds and it's great incentive to stick to your guns, cause if you don't.........back to START you go. :( And the really great thing about this challenge is that you are forming new habits that will wipe out the old! AND, you get to do it with a great bunch of really supportive people to whom you are accountable! :grouphug: And, YES, we are watching YOU!! Ready to join us!!?!?! You BET! :dancer: |
starting up tomorrow.....
Okay, all, this is it!! Gray shamed me into it!! I started the new thread and am starting my challenge tomorrow morning. Wanted to get under way with the thread. I'm not sure exactly what I'm doing but I have a good idea. It'll be the same as last time with some additions.
Hope to see you all here real soon! No excuses now!! ;) Later ALL!! :sunny: |
day 15
After much talking to myself.. umm the devil on my left shoulder said >>> its 6:30 go back to bed..u have 2 hrs before u have to be at work..and its too chilly the blanket feels tooo good!
the angel on my right shoulder said>>>> better go get moving ..get that metabolism going.. cant lose weight if ya dont get out there.. sooooooooooo i did walked 2 miles.. what a beautiful sunrise! Friends for fitness: You arent doing that gazelle w/o shoes are u? i got on bare foot the 1st time and its much easier with good supportive shoes.. and dont beat yourself up.. shoot when i started this i couldnt walk a 1/2 mile ..and now i can do 3 like a breeze.. you just have to add a few feet or minutes each day and push yourself a little bit more.. I am doing the same thing with the gazelle ive worked up to 10 min and each day will add a bit more time.. |
Thank you so much Curly!
I feel much better after hearing you are doing ten minutes a day that's all I could take today, so now I feel better knowing it's normal I guess. Oh and just so you know I'm not doing it without shoes either. I have very weak ankles, always have. I am almost flat footed they lay so close to the ground.
|
hey all just checking me - got sick again trying to start too fast but will be back on this soon - I am going to vacation to my mom's house in a week and half and just going to get back too working out some. I think I am going to start a mini goal while there and just take a walk everyday and not eat any of the junk food she has over flowing all over the house. Once I get back I get back on my old 21-Day Challenge, since I was 2/3 there last time..
|
Good morning all! Yesterday was day 1 (again  ), but i made it through with 1245 calories total.
On another thread I am doing a week-long challenge of no booze (I figured 7 days would be easier than 21 :D ) so that should help keep my calories down as well. I am so proud of you, Curly, for getting up early each morning to walk! Just to show how little of a morning person I am - our neighbor knocks on our door every morning around 6:45-7:00 and takes our puppy for a 45 minute walk. I stumble to the door, hand her the leash, and then crawl back into bed until the puppy comes back home. Could I get up and go with her, and even take our older dog? Sure, but I crave that last little bit of sleep so much! Friends - just keep building up your time on the Gazelle. before you know it, you will be on there an hour! |
Hurray For The New Thread!
The other one was getting to big to follow easily, perhaps it's time to split into a couple of sub-groups? (just slap me if I'm interfering in tradition)
OK, I've completed Day #8 WITHOUT MY COACH!!!! (carla). :coach: I did 13 mins. of wts./cardio-rebounder....and my *reward* seems to be this annoying muscle spasm in my left lat....I can't cough or breathe deeply and I keep hoping it will work itself out as I have much to do at work! I need a thermacare wrap! Yes, Red Balloon, I'm starting to build a bit of momentum and adding on 1-2 mins. every day will surely pay off |
Ok ladies line up and give me a swift kick in the @ss!!!
Yesterday was my son's birthday and I thought I stayed in my points. I logged them in today then noticed the Ghirardelli Dark Chocolate 60% Cocoa .375 oz wrapper. I ate that 1st thing in the morning and forgot about it!!! I'm OVER my points!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOO MAD at myself!!! Here I was all proud that I sayed in my points even after having some birthday brownie. (my son didn't want a cake so he wanted brownies) I made them into cupcakes so I know just how much I could eat!!! I blew it and I just started.... kick away !!!!! I'll be back after I stop stomping on these keys and can type correctly!! |
Thanks Fish!
That's what I am going to try to do, should I add a minute a day? What do you all think?
Mez- Just had to say I love the pic! so cute! Lisa :dizzy: |
Mez - Oh no! :( So is that a pause? or are you back at day one with the rest of us? That is how i felt tuesday morning, when I input my dinner from monday night and realized that what I *thought* the calories were was about 100 calories less than they really were and I was at 1535. Over my limit by 35 calories, and back to day 1. Cheer up :p we will all eventually make it through!
Friends - I would say either add a minute a day, or, add one minute, stay there for 2-3 days, then add another minute. Whatever your body can handle. You certainly do not want to overdo it, because then you won't feel good. Good luck! |
My I join in this challenge?
|
crd43123 - Yes please do!! Your going to love it here the support is great! Welcome to the 21 day challenge!!
FishWoman - I'm not going to count this as a pause day because it just to early in my challenge to do that! I'm not going to give up and got right back on today! Rolling up my sleeves!! You know if you think about it there really isn't any way you lose by not making your 21 days. You still have the days you worked hard and one should be proud of that and try again. ( that is what I'm telling myself right now) friendsforfitness - That sounds good and doable. I know I had to add a few minutes each time I jumpped on my machine. It was to hard for me to say I'd do X amount of minutes. The picture is my grandson. He's just turned 9 months. (today) I need to update his pic. Thanks very much he's my pride and joy! |
Ain't it amazing what a new thread can do. You all sound much more motivated and on the go.
When I started on the cardio machines, I only did five minutes on each and worked my way up with both time and levels. Still haven't got to the max. So go for it, an extra minute a day will be fine. |
Hi everyone. I hope you all had a good day. I ate my apples today and wrote down everything that I ate. At a staff meeting I hate about 4 butterscotch candies, but other than that I ate healthy foods. I am going to keep this up!! Finally, I have no diets mountain dews in the house or diet cokes so I am drinkings A LOT of water. I am craving Diet Moutain Dew terribly, but I figure it will pass in a couple of days. I stopped smoking about 5 years ago when I first found out I was pregnant with my son so I figure it I can give up smoking, I can give up drinking so many diet drinks. Many studies have recently shown that drinking diet drinks can actually make people hugrier and crave more sugar so that's why I am trying to kick the habit.
I haven't set a calorie limit for myself yet, but I may do that on my next challenge...right now I am just trying to establish healthy routines. |
My goal for this challenge is not to eat more than 1500 calories per day. I usually start out great in the day but by the end I have gone way over. So I want to eat better and not splurge in my numbers.
|
Well I think I'm done beating myself up. I have to be positive in order to do this so I forgive myself! I've done great today! Day 1 a consider a sucess!!
Shad - I agree the energy here is awesome! It also nice to know that you not alone when it comes to working out. So many times we are so hard with one self thinking we can do more! Melody - You inspired me to pick up some apples. I threw some in my salad today. Yummy!! Great going on not drinking diet pop! crd43123 - That sounds like a great challenge! Yea that night time hunger gets me. One thing I'm working on is the types of hunger. Here is what I do. It really seems to help me... Think of these things before you take that bite!!! Emotional Hunger Develops Suddenly Strikes above the neck ( e.g. a "taste" for ice cream) Occurs at random times Persistes despite eating Eating leads to guilt or shame. Physical Hunger Builds gradually Strikes Below the neck ( e.g. growling stomach) Occures serveral hours after a meal Goes away when full Eating leads to a feeling of satisfaction. |
nite time hunger: oh my ... now that is my down fall.. i would wake up at like 2 am and have a bowl of cereal... know how i fixed that? lol i dont buy cereal anymore...
only old fashioned oatmeal that ya have to cook! |
I'm starting over at day 1 tomorrow :( I had a fast-food hamburger for lunch today - what a mistake! It tasted good, but as soon as I was finished with it I regretted it. Why do I do that? I eat things knowing that I shouldn't, knowing that I'll just regret it as soon as it's down my throat.
Ugh. I'm disappointed in myself. I didn't even get through a WEEK this time, and I'd been sticking to that calorie limit for MONTHS. |
wrapping up Day 1!!!
Ok, everyone, glad to see so much action. I have to make this a quick message as I'm just dead tired and need sleep! Suffice it to say I made it through Day 1!! :spin: For now, the challenge (I'll split them if I add any elements) is the same, no white flour, no sugar, no cheese, nuts or deep-fried food...anything else? Oh yeah! No alcohol?! How did I forget that one?!?! Oh yes, there IS one more element. I must journal my food and exercise and be able to caluculate the approximate calories I consumed (and expended). I don't have to do that if I don't feel like it, but I have to write it all down in enough detail (as to portions and number) that I could calculate it if I wanted to. The goal, though not part of the challenge, is to watch the calories and try to keep them from going way outta whack! ALSO and this is a big one....the pause days must be recorded as well...or I will have to start over. I think I can do way, way, WAY too much damage on a pause day, which is stupid if I want to lose weight....Okay, folks, there it is in writing. I'm wrapping up Day 1 as soon as I write down what I just ate....
gray -- :coach: I don't want to hear you getting down on yourself!!!! you hear me!!! One itsy-bitsy fastfood hamburger is not something to be disappointed about. Now, maybe if you'd had two double servings of fries with 10 tubs of ketchup, three super-duper-whopper--woopers with extra mayonnaise, three servings of onion rings and a chocolate milkshake AND a strawberry milkshake, AND a diet coke, I'd be disappointed! Look to what you did RIGHT. Make note of what you were disatsified with and aim to do better than that next time. Really, being disappointed, angry, upset, any of those nasty things means you're probably focusing on what you did wrong, instead of what you did right. Simply noting it is enough, buoy yourself up with some, "you weren't able to today, but you CAN try to do it tomorrow" talk and kick on! Okay?!!? mez -- I liked your emotional vs. physical hunger chart there. Very true! I liked your attitude when you were talking to Fish about there "really isn't any way you lose," SO, I want to hear you saying this to yourself, in that mirror! And, like gray, I don't want to hear you getting mad at yourself. Just laugh it off...eating chocolate first thing in the morning!! :lol3: You made the effort, were very innovative about making cupcakes so you could count the calories. Just think, you could have just made the cake, closed your eyes and stuffed it in. But NOOOO!! You counted. So, a little forgetfullness is something to laugh at, not ask to be kicked about...no, unacceptable self battering! Somebody, get the strait-jacket for this woman! curly -- Congrats on 15! :cp: I think you made the whole challenge, right? What a save too! Devils and angels on your shoulders?! Wow! Could be them affecting weigh-ins, no? Good for you for going 2 miles AND appreciating that beautiful sunrise! :sunny: friends -- You do what is good for you, right now. Why feel bad about DOING something, 10 minutes or 100, you are DOING and that is great stuff! Keep it up! I wouldn't add a whole minute a day. Like Fish suggested, maybe add a minute every two days, or go two steps forward, one step back kind of thing, or slow the pace the first day and pick it up the second. Anything to keep you busy and keep things from seeming hard is good. You have to be the judge of that. Good luck! :goodluck: Sweet -- Nice to hear from you! But, what's this about getting sick because you started too fast?! Slow it down! Little bit at a time. Come on, I want to see you counting the days with us! Fish -- Hurrah on Day 1!! I hear you on the wanting your extra sleep. Could you go to bed a bit earlier? Maybe that would be the solution. It would be nice to get out in the early morning. It is such a fresh-smelling and quiet time. I love it. marble -- You are really moving along!! :bravo: Looks like maybe you got a bit too rambunctious! I hope not and hope your back feels better. crd -- Join in!! How did Day 1 go? :dancer: Shad -- Hi there! You must be excited about your trip. Thanks for checking in and I hope to have you back with us soon! Melody -- You're doing great!! :bravo: That craving may be for the caffeine. Maybe just have a little coffee until the cravings go away. I always say, just don't think of the things you want. Just act like you never drank them and never will. It's just NOT an option. I do that and it works most of the time. Best to try not to dwell on what you're giving up. I like that you are not focusing on calories but on health. I did this as well for my past four challenges. I know I have to cut down on the food if I want to lose weight (though I did lose some). I want health to be a priority though, not calories, that's why I've tried to get myself in the habit of only eating healthful things. This time I've added the journal. Next time, possibly an actual calorie count IF the weight doesn't come off satisfactorily this time. |
day 16
day 16 over with.. and down 1 lb this week.. so thats 11 lbs since september... and an average of 1.5 lbs per week..
|
So Sore this morning..
Owwwww! Not only did I do the ten minutes on the Gazelle yesterday, but then I got a wild hair up you know where and decided to paint my living room yesteday. I painted for 3 hours straight and now I am sore all over. So weird, I didn't think painting would make me so sore... sooo outta shape I am. I am going to TRY to do the Gazelle again today if my stiff sore legs will let me. So I will still have to check back in to see if I succeeded with day two of my challenge.
Thank you to everyone for your insights. I have decided to go two to three days at 10 mins depending on how it feels and then increase by a minute and do the same from there. I'll let ya know how it works out. Make a great day!! Lisa |
Okay, made it through day 2 at 1164 calories. No wonder I was still hungry last night! (I really thought my lasagna was more calories than it actually was.)
Red - I have a very hard time sleeping. It usually takes me about 2 hours after I lay down to actually fall asleep. So I am normally not falling asleep until between 12:30 and 1:30. As i often do not get home from work until around 7 or 8, it isn't really feasible for me to be in bed by 9. I also wake up during the night. Mez - that is so true - we really aren't losing anything because every day we are striving for a goal! Curly - Mmm. Old fashioned oatmeal. I don't eat it a lot in the summer, but it is cooling down now, and that may be what I have for b'fast tomorrow morning. With a teaspoon of brown sugar and fresh strawberries. I am making myself hungry :D |
New thread!
Yes! Nothing like a new thread to re-energize everyone, huh? Excellent! I'm not sure I have decided on my new challenge, but I think it will be something exercised based... it might be adding push-ups every day to my ab routine. I have several major auditions coming up, and the new dress I have is AWESOME, but sleeveless. If I could get my arms *SMOKIN'*, I would feel all the better in the auditions. I'll commit by tonight and post it here.
Mez - I am so happy you posted that comparison of emotional v physical hunger. I'm the kind of person that likes to break things down to specifics, and this might help me battle my night time feeding frenzies. Thanks! Curly - Cereal is my worst trigger food of all time. For about a year, I did not bring any into the house. For the past month or so, I have been slowly working it back in. I'm very proud that I can control myself and only have one bowl a day. Oatmeal is also a danger food. ESPECIALLY because I eat it cold, just like other cold cereal. I just love the texture and flavor! I know, I'm such a weirdo. Oh, and congratulations on your weight loss! Redballoon - No nuts? Are you nuts? For me they are a great substitute for chips or crackers when I want something salty and crunchy. I don't think I could go without. You are amazing. To everyone else - great fresh starts! Go team!! |
My first day went very well. I ended at 1485. So I just hope I can keep it up. 1 day down 20 left to go. Good luck everyone.
|
Sob!!!! I must take a break....my back spasms won't allow me to exercise, I could scream in pain if I sneeze....
SIGH, at least I got 8 days in...will try back after I heal..... Vicodan makes me feel nauseated too.... |
Whoa. Back to day one AGAIN. I'm having trouble getting started. You would think it would be easy to get a few days completed at least. Where's the motivation????
Seriously, I am having some trouble just getting through a day in regards to anything. I might even be border-line depressed and I need to pull myself up out of this hole. My husband travels alot this time of year and I always seem to fall apart right about now.....If I can at least get ONE aspect of my life back together the hole at least won't be so deep. I don't want to weigh y'all down with my stuff, but there it is and maybe you can help!!! Send some smilies!! ;) Thanks! |
hang in there Apple!!!
Hi, all! There was no time to write this morning before I left. Now I'm at work and can't manage more than a bit. I'm on Day 2 and plan to fly through it! Got to the gym for a bit this morning as well.
Apple, are you eating healthy food only? I am very sensitive to food and whatever goes in my body. I don't know what your life situation is like now and that could be a drag but you got to fortify yourself with good eating and exercise. Motivation or not, do as mez says, and go for determination. Don't ask too many questions, just try to do it. Also, you said you were trying to cut down on caffeine. This will cause depression. It sure did with me. It was really tough for about 6 months and my body probably didn't start to compenate on its own for a good year. I was dragging. But, I knew this was the reason and I would just sleep a lot instead of staying up and being pulled into dark thoughts. In any case, Apple, just get back on the challenge, start over, ANY number of days is better than none. Look at what you HAVE accomplished. Don't think about being down. Hang in there, kiddo! Keep your chin up!! :sunny: |
Check your challenge as well just to make sure it is not too daunting and complicated. I can't remember what your challenge was but maybe limit the challenge to just one thing instead of the multitude that many of us try to keep up with. Why do we women try to juggle so many things at once?
Keep hanging in there Apple. Pick something so simple you can do it standing on your head (getting exercise that way too!! and whatever, do not be too hard on yourself. You're going deeper into autumn (fall) and depending on where you live, the body may be slowing down for our longed for, but totally repressed hibernation. |
Curlylocks – Yea that old fashion oats sticks with you to. It reminds me when I was a kid my mom always had a HUGE pot of it going in the winter mornings. Kept us warm on the walk to school.
Gray eyed girl – I haven’t got in week in. In a very long time! Going to do it this week! Red – Wow that is one great challenge! LOL @ the strait jacket comment! Lisa – you wore me out just reading what you did!! NICE JOB!! Want to come paint my kitchen?? Hehe Fishwoman - YUM lasagna!!! It’s been toooooooo long…drool… Chaps – wow your going really giving that body some toning I keep thinking I should ad abs to my challenge but then get lazy … your really inspiring me… now you add arms your awesome!!! I need to get busy with that stuff my bat wings are horrible! You sure are going to be *SMOKIN* going to keep some water by my monitor! Your very welcome I hope it helps you as much as it does me. I also keep it on a post note on my monitor I find I can munch a lot away while on this! Not good for half the time I forgot what I ate or that I just ate it!!! UGH!! crd43123 – Yeah for you getting past that 1st day!! marbleflys – I’m sorry to hear about your spasms! Take it easy and I’m sure you’ll be back at full speed in no time!! Apple Blossom – Aww sorry to hear about you being in the dumps. The good thing is your not giving up keep going!! In the past 2 maybe 3 weeks I don’t know how many times I restarted. Sending lots and lots of happy smiles your way! |
Thanks, Red and Mez :) I feel better today, because I did so well. I just don't understand WHY the "oh, just this once" issue with emotional/impulsive eating is so hard to stop.
At least it tasted good. :o And now the craving is GONE. Day 1 done again. I weighed myself this morning and the scale said 206! YUCK. I refuse to believe it. I ate a lot yesterday, but it wasn't 28,000 extra calories that I'd need to consume to gain 8 pounds overnight. Probably just water weight. Still, yuck. I hate seeing that 2 in front of my weight. I want to get away from 200, far enough away that even on water retention days I don't see that 2 any more. |
i am pausing today.. so its still day 16 for me, its a torrential down pour here.. tho i will still b doing my circuit training 2night... But my challenge is to walk b4 work... so it will b apause for the challenge..
|
Day 2 down!
Ok, all, I'm going to snap off something here. I am finishing up Day 2. I almost went off and decided to start over but then I didn't. The longer I get into the challenge the harder it is to do that, so I guess it was today or never. I do have three pause days but I want to save them for some planned socializing. The food is not a problem. I can go straight through on that I think but the drinks is not something I want to say no to sometimes
gray -- Glad to hear you're feeling better. You have achieved liftoff! Good luck and just think, you CAN do this. It may take a while..but you will. I took about three months to finish my first challenge! I hear you on the hating the 2 before your weight but soon you'll be out of there. No, of course you didn't gain 8 lbs. Stay away from the scale and just concentrate on getting your eating habits in order...or your exercise..or both. The emotional connection is a strong one. It takes years to cultivate other connections. Try to. They can be formed just like the eating ones were formed over the years, no doubt when we were babies and kids. But, think of things you CAN do instead of eating. They are there. They may feel weird at first and not even satisfying but eventually they will become rituals just like food. You can do it. Go for it! :strong: mez -- How are you? Are you counting with us? I didn't see a number in that nice long post.... Bat wings, is it? Hmm. Triceps (the muscle in the back of the arm) are just not used that much, but you can work them just sitting there watching TV or chatting on the phone. And you can go and go. A few reps is not going to do much unless you're using very heavy weights and you'd have to work up to them anyhow. Just sit there and put your elbow up behind you with your upper arm way up there at shoulder height. Then straighten your arm back. Keep your muscles taut and do it rather slowly. Make sure you keep your elbow UP! the whole time. As your arm nears being straight out behind you give it a good squeeze and straighten your arm. Hold it there for a beat and lower rather slowly, always keeping it a bit taut like you're pushing something. You don't even need weights. Just do this constantly for long minutes at a time. Count to 10, do the other arm, come back, repeat. Do it watching TV or switch hands as you're talking on the phone. This will help firm up the muscle. You probably won't see results until you get more of the weight off though, but you will see the results sooner than if you hadn't done any toning. Oh, you can only do this, by the way, when you are not wearing your strait-jacket! :lol3: Shad -- Good advice. Thanks for checking in! :) marble -- Wow! So sorry to hear you're injured. Just what were you doing? Maybe you have a bad cold coming on or something. I can't imagine this is from the exercise unless you were straining with heavy weights or something...hmmm. Well, in any case, I hope you can better real soon! :grouphug: crd -- :bravo: Bravo on your first day down!! Keep the good stuff going! :dancer: Chaps -- Any progress on your next challenge yet? Pushups would be good, and if you do variations on where you place your hands you can work your triceps too and help get those arms you want. Oh, I'm not nuts. I love nuts too, especially cashews and pistachios. That's WHY I am abstaining from them. The calories are just too high and there' s no stopping with just a handful. I was never into chips or snacks, except popcorn, but nuts I AM nuts about! I eat slow-cooking oatmeal every morning, with a dash of 7-Grain cereal thrown in, soy milk and raisins and some toasted wheat germ on top. I eat muesli sometimes too and that has cold oats in it and it is good! My horse loves 'em too, so you're in great company! Fish -- Great going!! Glad to see you made it through Day 2. You know, that seems strange that you have such a hard time sleeping. Have you looked into what could be causing that? Too much caffeine or tea or do you exercise soon before going to bed. Getting the heart rate up too high before trying to sleep makes it hard. I don't know. I am asleep within 30 seconds of hitting the pillow, always! I wake up during the night too, usually because of the cats making some noise or something. Some people are just not good sleepers but I think you should do a little detective work there. You may be able to help yourself sleep better. friends -- Well, I'd say you got your exercise in, eh?! Good going! :spin: Good luck on your adding the minutes to your gazelling. Try to do some nice stretches after your exercise. That will help take some of the soreness away. Often, working through the pain, if it's just muscle pain and not an injury, will take the pain away. And just pop an aspirin if it's too bad. Nothing wrong with that. I do it after a heavy weight training day when I'm walking like a 100-year-old! curly -- Congrats on Day 16 down and pausing for the rain...OK! You have two more pause days so let's hope the weather clears. :sunny: Oh, a big hand :cp: for all that weight lost! I thought you said you were on a plateau. 11 lbs since September sounds like a plateau I'd like to be on!! Apple -- How are you? Feeling any better! Hugs, hugs, smiles, smiles!!!! carla -- Heh, where are you? :listen: I'm listening to 99 Luftballons now...they're not red, no, I don't think so. My red balloon is from the French film (1958?). Know it? |
Day 4 completed yesterday. I am eating lots of apples to control appetite and not drinknig and sodas. I am drinking more water and writing down everything that I eat. The weekend will be the hardest time because its easy to have a routine when I am working all day, but I am determined to make it through.
|
Hi all,
No time to read, no time to chat, gotta run off to work. Just wanted to say I did exercise yesterday and have not yet today so I will be back to hold myself accountable. Make a great day! Lisa |
Hi all and happy Friday. Made it another day at 1498. A little to close But I did make it. Good luck to everyone on reaching your goals.
Bye for now Christina |
Made it through day 3 at 1389 calories. Today and this weekend are going to be hard if it keeps pouring. But I will do my best.
Christina - it looks as if you and I are doing an identical challenge. Good luck to you! Red - I love that movie! We saw it in highschool French class (I can't believe sophomore year was 20 years ago!) Thank you for your concern about my sleeping. I have actually *never* been able to sleep well. My mom remembers when I was about 5, I told her that I never sleep. I just lay there and be quiet. That is still what I do! I try to just breathe and relax until I finally doze off. If I take a sleeping pill, i am asleep within an hour. However, not only do I not really like taking them, if i don't take one before 9, it is too late because I will be too groggy in the morning. Marbles - oh my gosh, I am so sorry about your back. I hope you feel better soon. Melody - what type of apples are you eating? I normally like only green apples, but just tried this type called Macoun (sort of red and green) and it is so yummy and crisp. I have had one every day for the past week and a half. |
wimper, wimper, wimper...I can still post even if I'm not challenging? It seems Coach Carla has deserted me...as she rode off on her Gazelle...
RB, I think I did strain it by yanking one of the dumbbells in bad form...(duh!) Many Advil and a few Vicoden later, I am feeling better, I no longer SCREAM IN PAIN after sneezing and I can even cough a bit. I will renew my challenge from Day 1 as soon as I heal hopefully within a day or two, right now I consider it an accomplishment to clean the catbox! Congrats to everyone else, you guys are doing great! |
Hello! Thanks for all the encouragement! I'm feeling OK this morning, but its the end of the day where I have a tough time. Last night I almost cried because my kids didn't like the dinner I made. I am way too emotional these days. I don't think the caffine has too much to do with it. I've never had a problem with it before. I've been pregnant 3 times so I know I can handle no caffine AND no alcohol. I had better motivation then, thats all.
I did get through day one, Tra LA LA!!! Red, you are right about diet effecting my mood too. I've been eating terribly, too much processed stuff. I'm sure if I watch what I eat for the next few days, I'll be feeling better. :crossed: I really miss getting out for a walk too. It's been hard to find the time, but walks always invigorate me. Well, thanks again for being there :listen: I'm so glad I found you guys! PS- Fish, I did a "mini" no beer challenge and after a week I decided to continue with it and I completed a full challenge! It easy once you get over the hump!! |
Apple, don't cry if the kids won't eat your dinner....tell them they have a choice...the lovely healthy food you slaved over a hot stove to provide.......or NOTHING..use the old line..."there are children starving in___________"
(worked well when i was a kid....we always ate what was put in front of us--but the dog had gas from the beans and broccoli) |
Hi all,
I don't know what happened to my little post from last night - maybe I didn't really post. Maybe it was all a dream. If I don't get around to it tonight, remember I haven't forgotten you - just wavering back and forth between fatigue, stuffing my face, and mild insanity. (I never should have taken myself off those meds...) Tonight I'm being taken out for a belated birthday dinner by a bunch of colleagues - we don't often find ourselves all captive in the same city, in this case Halifax. Good thing I'm still off challenge! More later, I hope. |
