Day 15 complete!

Hi all - another good day! On to day 16! Only 5 days left. Tomorrow is the offical WI day so we shall see how what that looks like. I put on a pair of capris that I bought about a month or so ago, and I can actually pull them off without unbuttoning them. I took my measurements about a month ago too, so I want to take them again tonight and see the real progress. Crazy! But I love it!

red - I think at this point I will finish up the challenge with just the water, and then add to it for next time. But it's good to know that I can always add to it if I want to.

curlylocks - I'm with you on the slosh, slosh, slosh - I think I spent the majority of my work day in the begining in the bathroom. Didn't get a lot of work done that way - lol. But it gets better, I don't have to run nearly as often as I use to now.

I like the idea of smileys to show the number of challenges completed. I can't wait to add one to mine!

jkg - congrats on finishing the challenge!!! On to the next one!!

curlylocks 08-03-2005 06:13 PM

wooo hoo JKG!! when i decided to do a water challenge i looked it up and it says multiply .66 by your lean weight.. umm but i dont know what my lean weight is lmao umm maybe they mean your recommended weight... then i read 8 glasses so i guess thats 8 oz glasses ... so then i decided id just do 100 ozs and leave it at that lol

scientific huh?

ok day 3: did well on my water... however had to run all over the place after work and i am just bone tired... so I am taking a freebie for day 3 (i feel so guilty not working out)

carla49 08-03-2005 08:13 PM

Today makes day 10, assuming no fall from grace between now and bedtime. I admit I'm looking forward to that crisp white wine on day 22...

I am managing my very modest water goal, and even bought some more bottled water since it helps me fool myself into thinking it's "special".

It's so hot and humid here I can barely think, let alone clean. And I'm trying not to use the A/C too much. But it really is too hot to chat, so bye for now. Red, I hope you're doing okay on your challenge!

mscat816 08-03-2005 11:23 PM

Wednesday sign off

It's Wednesday evening and I am finally back on track! So Day #1 is done - I am under my points and working on last 48 oz of water. Completed bonus goal - 40 min. on the treadmill :cb: Best of all the scale moved today but I am going to wait till the a.m. to confirm before moving my tracker - wish me luck!

Have a great night everyone!

carla49 08-03-2005 11:36 PM

Good luck, Mscat! I hope the scale really did move for you.

gray eyed girl 08-04-2005 12:25 AM

Red, thank you! It feels amazing to wear smaller clothes and have them fit. I still don't really see all that much of a difference in my body - I see more definition at my collarbones and my neck and arms are noticeably thinner and more toned, but other than that I feel like I look exactly the same. It helps to know that's NOT the case. Well done with day 4 and 5! You are doing so well.

jkg, Congratulations on getting through your last day!

dkkrf, you're doing great. This summer has been SO hot, getting the water in is so important. I live in the desert anyway so I drink water like it's going out of style, but it's been hot everywhere this year and it is just so crucial. You should be proud of yourself, it's so important to your health to get enough water.

Apple Blossom, I have a couple of old favorite shirts that I can't wait to wear again, too. I'm sorry you had to start over on day 1. Onward and downward ;).

Curlylocks, hang in there. The water is SO important, and it's so good for you! Your body will get used to the extra water really soon, and you'll stop living in the lady's room. Just think of all the retained water you're getting rid of!

carla, I'm glad you're still on track and that you inspired your friend to do a challenge of his own, too. I hope you can keep each other committed. Hasn't the heat been awful this summer? At least I'm in an area with a very dry heat, but it's still just intense this year.

Caro, I'm glad day 1 went well! Keep it up.

Way to go. LB!

Mezmerize, he is adorable. Congrats on getting through day 2!

1ceagain, I'm glad you got through day 10. SBD sounds so hard to me, really. I think I'd have a meltdown doing phase 1, without my carbs. I'm glad you're sticking with it.

mscat, well done on getting through day 1. I hope that your weight really is down for you.

Sorry I didn't check in yesterday. Day 6 (yesterday the 2nd) and Day 7 (today!) DONE! I came so close yesterday though. My hubby worked late, and so we had dinner late, and I didn't plan well so I was STARVING and almost had a snack which would have put me over 1600. But I resisted, and stayed at 1560. I was still at 210 this morning but that's okay. I gave myself more than a month this time to lose my 11 pounds and get to 199. I know my weight loss has slowed down now, so I have got to make sure my goals are more realistic. I have worn my "new" clothes for the past two days and I'm getting so many compliments on my weight loss. It feels wonderful. I still have a long way to go, but it's great motivation to know that my hard work is paying off.

I also wanted to say that I LOVE the idea of a smilie in the signature for each challenge completed. I am looking forward to earning my first one.

redballoon 08-04-2005 02:38 AM

working through Day 6....

Hi there. Halfway through Day 6. Contemplating going to the gym. .... Oh, just get your butt in gear! .... My challenge is cleaning and sugar but I am trying so hard to burn off the fat. I should enjoy the journey, but am finding it so frustrating. Don't ever try to chill watermelon by putting it in the freezer. I just ruined a bowl of it...Ugh!!

gray eyed girl -- You're getting there! Don't fall victim to what you feel like, unless you're feeling absolutely wonderful about your new you. I mean, listen to you, you're getting compliments, wearing new clothes. Obviously you look different, you feel different. Enjoy it! Take pleasure in these things. So often we get a little kick out of feeling better, seeing some effort pay off and then before you know it we're looking at the negative and moaning about the work ahead of yes. Yes, you have a lot of work ahead of you but think of how many more times you'll be able to feel proud of yourself. Think of how many more times you'll get compliments. Think of all the new and wonderful clothes you'll be able to see yourself in. You're doing great! And I find you simply inspiring! If you can do it so can I? I can. I can! :spin: I'm gonna get me some of those good feelings too, you bet!

mscat -- Good to see you again! What a great day you had. You're getting it ALL together, aren't you? And that IS what it's all about, getting it together. I mean, ****, anyone can starve themselves, smoke themselves thin, but you, you're eating heathily, drinking water, moving that bod! Great stuff!

carla -- :bravo: A full ten down! Hurrah for you! Well, you should be looking forward to that crisp white wine. But just make sure it keeps looking forward to you! ;) I know what you mean about the bottled water. I'll buy some Italian sparkling and just love it. Makes me feel so decadent, so wildly wealthy, so nuts!! Too hot to chat?! Well, I can relate...she says, the sweat running in rivulets over the hills and dales of her body, pooling at her feet....oops, better save the descriptive writing for elsewhere.... Thanks for asking, I'm doing A-OK on the challenge, it's the rest of life I'm not doing so great on. God, I want to have this super body NOW!! Doesn't help that there have been Marilyn Monroe movies on TV yesterday and today. Carla, keep up the good work! :sunny:

curly -- Okay, freebie, awful early in the game, no?! Oh, but wait a minute!!! this curly here, she's got herself THREE whole free days. "I think I'll take a free day," she says lounging on the side of her swimming pool, barely having started her third round, but already sitting back to chill with a cold one in one hand, a novel in the other. ...uh, ok, life is tough... Just kidding, curl. You rock!!

jkg -- is nosing over the wire!! See you in the winner's circle, kid! :cb:

dkkrf -- Well, you're about to get a smiley for your signature! Way to go!! Day 15 done and gone! :flow1: I can't believe you, can't even keep your pants on without unbuttoning them....Yowzah! I mean, that's like the complete opposite of me, trying on my "thin" jeans, dancing and jiggling, shooting my heartrate up to the training zone, wondering if it'll count as my gym workout.....oh, you are making me jealous!! I love it!! You are mega awesome! :high:

1nceagain 08-04-2005 06:03 AM

rivulets, hills and dales . . . oh my!

Just got ome from the gym and only have rivulets and hills. :( The dales will return if I keep it up. Day 11 on SBD is winding down and I have my dinner planned already. Only 3 more days till carbs! I get 1 fruit and one other startch each day. Oh the possibilities are endless!

:encore: :cheer: :balloons: JKG-Way to go!!!!!!! You are amazing!!!!!!!!!! :balloons: :cheer: :encore:

redballoon 08-04-2005 07:59 AM

Day 6 in the bag!!

Ok, through Day 6 here...well, as soon as I do a bit of cleaning. But I will do it and if I don't I'll take a freebie. Let you know in the morning. I want to get this out.

Well, I had an excellent day as far as diet and exercise went. Really kicked butt, even the gym trainer (super bodybuilder here) was proud of me. :sunny: I ate superbly. Have been trying to do this six small meals of protein at each with complex carbs, and spacing it so I still have energy from the carbs so I can do the heavy weight training :strong: and by the end of that enough of the carbs should be depleted that I can start doing the cardio and fat burning!! :ebike: Actually, I jogged, 5 K, so that coupled with riding this morning, and a lot of bike riding getting to and from places really adds up to a great day! Wow! If I could just do this consistently, I could burn this fat off in no time!! :cb:

1nceagain -- :bravo: on getting through Day 11. I am sure you will! And kudos for the gym workout! I am amazed you are working out while doing SBD Phase 1! Wow. I sure couldn't. I tried but had no energy, would have dropped the weights on my head! You have more sticktoitness than I do! Oh, the wonderful carbs are on the way. Think of all the luscious fruits you can pick from. Yum!

redballoon 08-04-2005 08:04 AM

Challenge amendment...limit on free days!

Okay, rule amendment here! :judge: Because curly has me thinking.... We can't have too many free days or it'd be like...."Day 1 done here...that was a good challenge!" So, I'm setting the maximum free days at FIVE. So after five challenge rounds you get five free days total, NO MORE!! Okay, just wanted to set that in writing.

OK, guys, pass it on!!

:gossip: :gossip: :gossip:

Do you think anyone is going to stick around here long enough to do more than five rounds?! Well, I hope so. I'm enjoying this! :flow1:

jkg0679 08-04-2005 08:11 AM

::GASP:: I didn't get ANY fruits in yesterday and only a few peas at dinner time! Can you believe making it to day 21 and THIS! Well, I had a second indulgance day, so I will use it and make today my day 21. Today I WILL eat some more fruits & veggies and get this round completed!

LegallyBrunette 08-04-2005 08:52 AM

Day 11 was good :) although I'd planned on going to the gym for an hour of exercise, but I only ended up with 30 mnutes of walking with hubby... it was a long, emotional day with some family issues... so hopefully I can finish out the challange, only 10 days to go, more than half way done!

carla49 08-04-2005 09:53 AM

Hump day (day 11) today. Woke up with an excruciating headache - must be chocolate withdrawal. It's going to be another stinker today. The weather channel was talking about 43C humidex!!! (That's a whole bunch of Fahreheit...) And I'm feeling really mad at myself. There are nice cold lakes with public beaches about 20 min drive from here, and I've managed to be too busy finding excuses to stay in town to realize that really just I'm afraid to be seen in my gigantic black swimsuit. :( I'm such a schmuck. Maybe later today I'll be brave and head out for a long early evening swim.

Red, I love your description of rivulets etc. Suffice to say that I feel your pain... I'm impressed with all the biking and jogging and working out you do. You must be SO fit! I mainly exercise the part of my brain that manufactures plausible excuses.

How does someone get 5 free days? Are they carried over, or do you get 2 on round 2, 3 on round 3 etc? (I'm hoarding my measly one free day, just like I used to first eat all the bits I liked least so I could save the best for last.

Mscat, how was your encounter with the scale this am? Mine was inconclusive - different weight depending on scale location, but none higher than 204. Some spots said 202...

Sushi, where are you, sleeping beauty? Will post later when my day's results are in.

I am going to make a slight change to my challenge though. Initially it was to eat my veggies and get to bed by 10:30 pm at the latest.

My re-designed 21 Day Challenge will be:

1) veggies: eat a salad or a bowl of greens or an average-sized vegetable each day (carrots don't count, as it's a lunch staple)
2) herbal tea: brew and drink the (unbelievably disgusting) cleansing/weight-loss-aiding tea
3) improve my sleep schedule on an ongoing basis and aim to achieve a set, routine schedule

Thinking about the herbal tea makes me cringe and shudder, so wish me luck! Eeek!

Siiiigh.....
I started on Tuesday and Day 1 was a success, but yesterday I got screwed up by a power outage - it went out while I was waiting for the water to boil, so I didn't manage to have the herbal tea... :(

Starting over today.

dkkrf 08-04-2005 12:13 PM

Day 17

Still going strong! Working on day 17, and so far so good. I WI today, and down another 2 pounds! :cheer: For a total of 21 so far :cheer: - imagine where I would be if I would have been this serious about it 5 months ago when I actually started this process! Oh well, no looking back - it's all about looking forward.

I'm trying to remember whose signature says I can't lose 100 pounds, but I can lose 10 pounds 10 times - that has been such a motivator for me - I like that way of thinking - and I have already lost 10 pounds 2 times!

gray-eyed-girl - that is awesome that you are getting comments already on the weight you have lost! It's always great when someone else notices your progress .

Ok, have more I want to post, but apparently have a crisis in the shelter upstairs so need to. bbl

mezmerize 08-04-2005 12:30 PM

Day 3 - Used Activity Pts. Stayed in my allowed points

curlylocks 08-04-2005 04:28 PM

the reason i took my free day was cuz my heel spur is acting up and my dang deductible on my medical insurance is $600 so i cant go get another shot in the foot unless i pay myself... so i decided that since my heel was hurting and i was so tired to cash in the freebie and be ready to roll to today ...

p.s. I will make 5 or more rounds .......

redballoon 08-04-2005 05:51 PM

I think this is Day 7.....

Good morning. Sooo hot here, can't sleep at night. Lie there, my bed soaking up the sweat. But, the feeling that I got something accomplished yesterday, that I really did well with eating and exercise makes me feel so much better. You know, I wonder if a large part of not wanting to get up in the morning when you're older is due to simply not being happy with what you've been doing, not so much what you have to look forward to or not look forward to. Oh, I want to keep this up. There's a new moon tonight and the waxing phase starts. This always puts stability and resolve into things... a time for bringing in those things you want into your life! :strong:

Oh, and I didn't take a free day yesterday. Cleaned out the freezer and went to bed. Good for me! :twirly:

jkg -- Only a few peas at dinner! What are you doing, girl?! Well, I'm sure glad you could use your free day! You know, your post has got me thinking of further revising the challenge rules. Until now, I have been considering a free day something to REPLACE a day and then you just keep counting, including that day. Of course, this makes the actual length of the challenge shorter, thus my last post about limiting the free days. Now, I am thinking I may change the way it's set up, to say that a free day just causes a pause in the challenge and you RESUME counting from the following day. This way, we could allow as many free days as you complete rounds. Maybe this is how some people had interpreted them anyhow. What do you think?

Brunette -- I'm so sorry to hear about the troubles you're having. Certainly hope things work themselves out. Please try to stick to your challenge in some way. It may make you feel better. Take care and congratulations for getting through Day 11! :cp:

carla -- Sorry to hear about the headache. Chocolate withdrawal...hmmm, after 11 days...could be, but I'd say it's something else. Do take care. Are you drinking enough water? I never heard of the humidex but I'd say we are also well into the 40s here. I am tired of sopping up sweat! I hear you on the swimsuit but you really should try not to care. Realize that you are but a tiny blip on the radar screen of others when it comes to them checking you out in your suit. However, I know how things like that can really get you down. The other day in the gym I couldn't get pysched for my workout because my new exercise pants looked awful. Well, I thought they did. It has motivated me to get back one of my better butts! carla, read jkg's part of my post where I talk about free days. And look at you, kiddo, you're almost in onederland! :bravo: Get excited about it. I am more and more convinced that people take this weight loss thing all too seriously and just need to lighten up. I hope you are and hope you are enjoying the thrill of anticipation of getting slimmer. You are going to be like a butterfly coming out of her cocoon! :sunny:

Sushi -- Wow, talk about excuses! That was a good one! So sorry...still, you had only just started so it's better to start over than take your free day. I love your determination! Keep it up! :spin:

dkkrf -- Congrats on all your work. You are sooo close. And wow, another two pounds off!! :encore: Hurrah, hurrah!!! It's mezmerize's signature with the 10 x 10. Yes, good, isn't it? You're doing great. Keep it up! I'm rooting for you.

mez -- :bravo: on Day 3!! And how can that be?!?! Little Phoenix is getting EVEN cuter!!!! Adorable!

curly -- Ouch! Hope your foot feels better. You know I was just joking about your lounging around! Okay, you're going to be our challenge pioneer, going for five or more rounds, going where no one has gone before! Good luck!!

Marti 08-04-2005 06:00 PM

Ahhh...Red! I had no idea this thread was still movin'! How have you been?

I would really like to join this little challenge (again) but it is more about health rather than weight.

My challenge is to NOT smoke. I made a vow to myself to quit. I have come to realize that I've had enough. Today is my first day of no cigarettes and so far, no craving for it. So if I can get through all 21days, well heck, I think I've got it licked!

Mind if I join?

redballoon 08-04-2005 06:24 PM

Welcome back to an ex-challenger!!!

Marti!!! -- So glad to see you!! :cb: Well, the old challenge thread ended long ago and there was nothing for a long while, but then I started it up again, with some revisions and some more in the making. We've got a great crowd here now. Soooo glad you're going to come aboard. I missed you. I even went over to Jaded Ladies to see if you were still there and you were, but I didn't post because I'm just too busy here. Well, giving up smoking is no easy thing and for me having one or two just started the ball rolling again. Then, one day, about 15 years ago, I went cold turkey and never had another! So, I did it. You can too!! Good luck. The physical cravings will go fully away in three weeks, so yes, you'll be clear by then. It's the psychological ones that can sneak up on you. But you can ignore them! You're strong and being healthy is THE most important thing! Good luck!!! :sunny:

Marti 08-04-2005 06:36 PM

So glad to be back!

I'm glad to be back! I need a challenge! :D You should've PM'd me and I would have come running! You know I like a challenge! :dizzy:

I'll have to go back and read the revisions, make sure I'm on track and all. Also need to read all the others post so I can get to know all the members! Looking forward to getting to know you.

Ok, I need to get ready for work.

I'll post my day one tomorrow, since today is still running for me! Take Care!

curlylocks 08-04-2005 07:10 PM

day # 4: got in over 100 oz water and 45 min at the gym!!

u guys were right it does get easier gettin the water in... but geez do ya ever run to the ladies room. i also have stayed away from the diet sodas for 4 days!!

Sushi Penguin 08-04-2005 07:43 PM

I am going to whack myself as soon as I finish this post...

Sushi, on the way home from the gym: "Hungry a bit... finish the 5 baby carrots from lunch, take my iron, and have a tomato/parsley/onion salad."

Sushi, arriving home: "Hey hi sweet, apologies for being late, I remembered about the 10 mins. on the treadmill I promised myself to do. Didn't think it would take me so long to get back, that's why I didn't call."
Sushi, washing her hands and responding to whatever bf said about some way of doing the chicken: "Sure, I'll try it. Hold on, it's 6:45, gotta have my food fast... would you like some orange?"
Sushi cuts up the orange into 4 pieces, eats one standing, pours the iron stuff onto a spoon, closes her eyes and swallows the yucky stuff. "Oh, I didn't have the apple at lunch, I'll eat it now with the carrots..."

Like I said, carrots don't count... my tomato salad got lost...

I guess I'm restarting  tomorrow... :bomb: :rollpin: :rollpin: :rollpin: :tantrum: :stress: :stress: :stress:

carla49 08-04-2005 09:06 PM

Marti, quitting smoking was the hardest thing I ever did, and also the thing I'm most proud of. It is SO worth it. Don't give up!

Red, just wait a few years and you'll be lying in a pool of sweat at night even in winter. I decided tonight it was just too hot, so I squeezed on a swimsuit and drove off to the lake for a quick swim. The water was lovely - I'd probably still be there (slight exaggeration) except there was a thunderstorm brewing. Tomorrow I'm going to a friend who has access to a private lake, so I'll get lots of swimming in. I just hope I don't burst the seams of the suit... Until about a year ago I had never been over 185, and 2 years before that I'd never been over 170 (and so on, and so on), so I find this amount of excess weight hard to deal with. But I'm not obsessing, and I'm very pleased that I'm losing at last, bit by bit. The challenge really does help.

Just FYI, the Humidex is the perceived temperature, taking into account temperature and humidity. (In winter, we have the joy of the wind chill factor, which is almost as much fun.)

Sushi, is it possible the goals you're setting are just too hard? A challenge is great, but if it's impossible to achieve, it'll just bring you down. By the way, thanks for the link to Flyday. I'm going to clean my sink tonight.

Right now I'm trying to decide if two Nature Valley crunchy PB granola bars should go into the candy bar category. What do you all think? Do I need to start over or call this my free day?

redballoon 08-04-2005 09:45 PM

granola bars get a shruggin' nod....

Just a quickie for carla. You know, I think you're okay with the granola bars. I wouldn't consider them candy bars. But, I would be careful not to eat them often. They are 190 cals. each, full of simple sugars and only a couple grams of fiber. They're not much good for a healthy eating program but I think they're a far cry from a chocolate bar. Roll on, baby!

mezmerize 08-04-2005 09:47 PM

Day 4 - Used Activity Pts. Stayed in my allowed points

mscat816 08-04-2005 10:06 PM

Thursday Night Report

Just a quickie - nursing a sore back - finishing the day under points and drinking last 24 oz of water. Day #2! :cb:

Sushi Penguin 08-04-2005 10:10 PM

No, they're not too hard. :) Just keep on running into trouble!
First I couldn't meet my bedtime goal because of taking a nap, that was my fault. The power outage yesterday I couldn't do anything about. But forgetting about the tomato 5 minutes after having decided to eat it is my fault as well. I'll be ok though. :)

carla49 08-04-2005 10:42 PM

Thanks Red, I agree, not to be eaten too often. They were on special, I forgot to take real food with when I headed for the lake, and then I enjoyed the first one so much... My total intake for the day is still pretty good, even tho I probably shouldn't have bought the Kashi GoLean Crunch at Costco. Yum. :o

Mscat, sorry to hear about the sore back, but glad to hear the challenge is on track.

It is SO hot here, and so humid. The humidex was 110 degrees Fahreheit, and we are so not used to that, especially for such a long period. Some posters, maybe from Texas, have talked about the heat index. Is that the same as Humidex? :?: No trouble getting all the water down in this heat!

1nceagain 08-05-2005 07:13 AM

Day 12 on SBD almost over . . .

Marti-Very nice to meet you! Yip-Cold Turkey-the only way.
Curly-day 4-so glad it is getting easier for you! :flow1:
Sushi-awe man, do-over. great mini drama though! :corn:
Carla-swimsuit-big step-you go girl! :dancer:
Mez-keep on movin on! :moped:
Mscat-so sorry about your back-can empathize. Take it slow. :snail:
Red-Still hanging onto that free day-awesome!

jkg0679 08-05-2005 08:32 AM

OK....done round 2! :) Onto round 3...

During this round I will be in Old Orchard beach, Maine for a week (the 13th-20th) so don't worry that I don't post that week. I will not be near a computer! :) However, because I will be on vacation on a beach daily, it's going to be importnat to up my water intake, so that will be my challenge this go-around.

I did some research and found I should be taking in at least 110oz of water (is that right...it seems like a lot)! Aw well, I will shoot for 80 oz a day to meet goal. If I go over, great, but I will be happy getting at least 80oz in! :)

carla49 08-05-2005 09:30 AM

jkg, congrats on completing round 2!!!! And enjoy your vacation - don't forget the sun screen.

Marti 08-05-2005 03:37 PM

One

!!!TA DA!!!!

Day one done and completed w/no cravings or stressful times. Not even a "witchy" attitude! Can't get any better than that now can it??

Oh, but it can.....instead of sitting on my breaks stuffing my face at work, I went to the gym and worked out! :)

So, I'm tackling two tough things as I'm doing this.

Curly--Getting in more water is SUCH a great thing. You're going to notice little changes in your body such as your skin and hair looking more hydrated. And of coarse there is the side effects of having to pee every 15mins. But that WILL subside! So keep up the great work!

Sushi--Don't worry so much about restarting. It's ok and we all probably have. I had to restart many time before while doing this challenge in the past. Just remember, that if you see yourself restarting more than you want, then it's time to fine tune the challenge and make it work for ya. Good luck on day one! BTW....what is your challenge?

Carla--I'm w/Red, I wouldn't consider them a candy bar,.....but do be careful as they can be addicting!

JKG--Congrats on getting through a round!! Enjoy your time on the beach and good luck w/getting the water down. 110oz is a lot of water, but I hear it can be done. 80oz. is a better aim to go for....but if you actually hit that 110, well then hurray for you!

Mscat--Hi again! Just realized you were posting here! How have you been? I'm sorry to hear that your back is bothering you. Hope you heal quickly!

1nce--I think Cold Turkey is how it's going to happen! So what is your challenge and how are you doing?

Red--Are you doing a no sugar challenge? Or is it something different?

I'm sure there are probably more of you out there and I'm sorry if I didn't get your all. I only scrolled down to my last post. But I will eventually meet you all.

Good Luck on today! I'm off to read more of your post.

Hi all - just a quick post to say that I have made it through day 17, and doing great on day 18.

I'm super tired, and feeling kind of yucky - I will be back to post more later.

Still on Day 7.....note rule change!!!

Morning, all. I had to take a free day (one of my two) yesterday because I didn't do any cleaning. Was out early to the gym and home too late. It's a shame, because I have a double challenge, which means I should have eaten sugar too if I was going to blow it with the cleaning.....nah!...that's stupid thinking. The sugar is more important anyhow and I should be glad to be off the stuff! :spin:

RULE CHANGE!!!!

Now, I am implementing a challenge rule change. This is it!! Free days are to be PAUSES in the counting, not replacements for days. This way, you will still be doing 21 days of challenge, no matter what. It also means there is a bonus for NOT taking your free days. Since they don't carry over, it seems a shame not to use them, but this way, if you don't use them it means you get your challenge over faster. This adds up if you have like three or more free days. OK!! Everyone?! Got that?!! :sunny:

So, since yesterday was my Day 7, but I had to take a free day or go back to Start (and I'm taking the free day) I am STILL on Day 7 today. It's a Groundhog Day kind of thing!

Oh, yes, and one more thing, I am psyched. The fat on my thighs  feels looser and grosser, which is actually a good thing because it means it's moving around and probably thinking about disappearing or has disappeared and the skin is still hanging there going, yeah, what's all the room about here?!!? Still, it's hard to gauge things because it is so hard wriggling in to pants when you're soaked in sweat. Ugh!! Yesterday at the office, though, where there is a/c I think I did definitely notice things to be looser. And yesterday morning I did a major thing. Instead of eating my big oatmeal breakfast and then going to the gym, I packed it into a lunch box and took it with me and ate it AFTER the gym. So, instead of just wearing off my breakfast, I was wearing off some fat! I really felt tired after that but I know this is what I have to do more of? Wish me luck!!

dkkrf -- Good for you! You're almost there! Hope you feel better. :goodvibes:

marti -- Wow, a smooth Day 1. If you can do that, it will only become easier, at least physically. However, that said, you may get a cold or something as the body works out the gunk that has built up inside you. I did and it pissed me off because it was like, I'm trying to get healthy and I'm getting sick for trying, but again, that is stupid thinking. I was getting healthy and the body was having to deal with the withdrawal and all. Good luck! And yes, I am doing a sugar challenge but also a behavioral, counter-procrastination thing involving cleaning some part of my living abode, cleaning, organizing, whatever. My place is a disaster. I despise cleaning. But this place also depresses me and is a block to doing things, can't have people in, have no room to exercise, it's a weight around me, like the fat around my belly. I feel working on this will also free me up emotionally and help me get my eating and exercise habits in order.

jkg -- Heh, I think I missed your completing your challenge! Congratulations!! :encore: :cp: :encore: :cp: :woo: Great balls of fire!!!! You have done it!! A wallop on the back to you!! Have fun at the beach and, yes, you should be drinking extra water. It is very important when you're out in the sun. 110 oz. is about 3 liters. It is a lot but I easily go through that in a day, especially now when I'm sweating all the time. I probably drink 5 liters. I also drink ice water all the time to cool me down. Good luck!

1nceagain -- How did Day 12 go? Did you get through it okay? I hope so! :twirly:

carla -- You too. How did the day pan out? I hope you got through okay. What is your challenge again? Calorie limit? Hope to hear from you soon!

Sushi -- What a bummer having to start over, but yeah, it's no big thing. What happened to your salad? It seemed like it was right there within reach, then...oops!! No salad. Very strange. Yes, I'm very leery about fine tuning challenges. When you decide on it you should be very realistic and then stick with it. This is why it's a challenge. They are supposed to be hard. But the thing itself is not necessarily hard. Just hard for you to do consistently. And that's what habits are all about. Once you get into it, make it one, it comes easy. It doesn't mean it is actually an easy thing in itself, it's the doing it that becomes easy. For you, obviously, eating vegetables is not an easy thing, but it's certainly not a hard thing in itself. You can do this! Sushi, come on, plan a little bit and execute the plan! Good luck and I am behind you! As a vegetarian, I say, more power to the veggies!!! :sunny:

mscat -- Ouch. Hope your back gets better soon. Good going on Day 2. :cp:

mez -- :bravo: for you. You're doing fantastic!

curly -- Double challenger, you! Look at you go! Excellent stuff! :strong: And staying away from those sodas. That is awesome! :spin: Keep it up!

Caro, Java, Trixi, gray, Legal, happy, Apple, where are you?!?!?! Come back!!
:df:

Marti, congrats on going to the gym instead of lazing around! I know my inclination is always to lie around and laze...

Red, my challenge is no wine or chocolate bars. And I seem to be doing pretty well! Today was Day 11 (I think), and I turned down wine with dinner without so much as a pang.

I had a great day, went to a friend in the country very near here. She now has access to a small private lake, and we spent about 2 and a half hours swimming and paddling all around the perimeter of the lake. The weather was less muggy today, and there was a little breeze. Paradise.I've been ready to hit the hay ever since. I think I'll sleep very well tonight.

Marti, Red, dk, all the other challengers, have a great weekend! As for me, I'm back in the lake tomorrow. I should have been swimming for the past 2 months, but the important thing is I'm doing it now.

I am so far behind after not checking in yesterday or at all today. I have read all the replies but I'm really tired, so I'm going to save personal responses until tomorrow.

Day 8 went well yesterday. I actually skipped dinner yesterday, because I had a BIG late lunch and just wasn't hungry. I typically wouldn't do that, but it worked out okay this once. Today was not as great. I'm calling today my free day for my first round on the challenge and tomorrow will be day 9. I wanted to save my free day for a little later but I just realized that I forgot to add in a snack from this afternoon when calculating my calories, and I'm over for today - I'm at 1800. :( So today was my free day because I do NOT want to go back to day 1. I really want to be done with this challenge by my little girl's birthday party, so that I can plan ahead for that to be a free day (I HAVE to have a piece of my baby's birthday cake!) and have one more for days like today, and I won't be done by then if I start over. And THAT will mean that I have to start over AGAIN. So I have to stay committed now, no exceptions at all.

I've just got a case of the "blahs" today. I'm about to get my period, so I'm bloated, overly emotional, feeling self conscious and ugly, tired, crampy, and craving junk food, which is not a fun way to feel. You all know what I mean. I did get in some exercise, which is good - 45 minutes on the elliptical and 20 minutes of weights - and that helped. I have been making AWFUL food choices the past few days and I really, really need to stop or I AM going to go back to day 1.

I'm also expecting to see a gain on the scale tomorrow morning because of the lovely bloating during this TOM. I may avoid weighing in altogether and just wait until after this week is over. It's been particularly bad this month. I'm not a happy camper today.

Don't let it make your gray eyes blue . . .

Gray-I can so feel what you are saying. But just so you know, in all of that sad post-you still inspired someone! You are stronger than you are giving yourself credit for-and smarter! You are "planning ahead" for your next free day! Something so simple I never thought about it. In my mind I was keeping it banked for a day I screwd up. Now I feel more in control! I am going to be in charge of my free day and save it for something very special-a reward to myself. Thanks for the inspiration! :thanks:

day 12 of SBD done!
almost through 13!

Ah, nice post, 1nceagain!

Hang in there, gray!!

Day 7 notched!

Hi, all. Wrapping up Day 7 (again) here and moving on to Day 8! Not much exercise in today because of work and the gym's not open early Saturdays. Also, late night last night so no budging me. I needed a day off from the gym anyhow. Things are slow around here. I hope we're going to see more action soon. I'm getting that lonely feeling again..... :(

gray eyed girl -- How are you doing? I hope you're feeling better. At least you know WHY you're blue. And don't worry about responding to people. We can't all the time. Sometimes even I don't say anything except what I've done. The most important thing is YOU and what you've done, how you're doing. The rest of us come LATER or not at all. :) I'm with 1nceagain in saying you're doing a great job of planning. Sometimes the slipups are unexpected, other times we can plan for them. I think planning for them actually helps prevent a lot of "unintentional" ones as well. When is your girl's birthday, by the way? I don't know if I will use another free day (my last) on Monday for my birthday. Cake I'm not a big fan of but ice cream, especially those soft vanilla cones, those I absolutely love. Then again, I don't need to have it on my birthday. The best present I could give myself would be a long day in the gym! Alas, the gym is closed Monday. Darn! I will think of something else to do. May go for the cone though, may save it for later in the challenge should my resolve waver! In any case, I'm glad you are working through the blahs with exercise. I think too you should forego the scale tomorrow. There's no need to see the numbers and I know even if I expect a gain, it gets me down to actually see the numbers go up. Well, take care and I want to hear a good report from you, okay?

1nceagain -- Excellent going on Day 12. :encore: You're almost through to the carbs... and... Hang in there! You're doing so well! :flow1:
