Good afternoon! I am feeling much better today, still a have a caugh but not as bad :)
Lisa-good job on the weightloss!! Hotcupojava-Glad to hear squeak is doing better petra65- I hope your week started off better than your weekend. :D I think I'll give myself another day and then I'm back to my work out routine. I have lost 2 Lbs since the last weigh in it has been going down slowly but I guess as long as it goes down it's a good thing. Hope you are all keeping hydrated and sticking to your plans :) MoonRay |
PS Wooohoooo!! I completed my 3 month goal!!!
MoonRay |
Hello PICs !! I see that we have hit over 1,000 posts ... WOW. Lisa, too bad there wasn't some big prize where bells ring and lights flash.... you would have won !
A rather warm day here today, although I can't complain as I know most of you are experiencing much warmer. My weight loss efforts seem to be tanking. I actually gained this week and I am not surprised.. which is really a bad sign. I don't know that WW points are working for me and I think it is time to start looking at programs which are a bit more structured. We are heading out to Costco sometime this week, so perhaps i will pick up the south beach book if they have it in stock. MoonRay ~ well done on your loss !! Well that's it for me.. I am off to have some dinner. Enjoy the rest of your monday and talk to you soon. TLB |
Howdy All,
Well I can say the sun isn't shinning and we have some wet stuff...which is a good thing. Today our high might not reach out of the 60's but we are getting a warming trend but not a hot trend to the rest of the week. Since I am a rodeo widow this week I had to take M to gymnastics and even though it was sprinkling I still walked. Dry creek was flooding so I had to walk in between the water. It tried to jog but my shins were bothering me. It is so much easier on the high school track than on the greenway to jog. Last night we went to bed at 7:30. Dave and I had been up since 2:30am. I put M to bed and she said, mommy it isn't dark outside. LOL I feel asleep right away and so did Dave. I think M watched a little tv and went fast asleep. Alot easier to get her up in the morning if she goes to bed early. There is no swimming tonight at the Y and I doubt if I will make it to open swim. I will see if I am tired tonight or not. I have some work to do for my part time job and that has to be a priority this week. Moonray: congrats on the loss. I am drinking about 140oz of water a day. I think that is really helping me. TEB: before trying SB go back and read all your WW materials. Sometimes when you get comfortable with a program you need to shake it up some and start over from the begining. We get comfortable in what we think the points are and sometimes we uncount points. Momx3: nothing like home remodeling to get you moving. LOL Have fun doing that. Turtle: are you hiding in your shell? How did wi go? Like I said earlier, don't let the scale get you down....think about how much better you feel. Petra: how your Monday was better than your Sunday. Well, I need to get M up and head for work. STill have to make lunches and shower and I have to be at work in an hour. Have a great day! Lisa Wyoming |
My poor Buddy has been sick. Had to take him to the vet last night. He has a big hotspot on his neck. He gets these sometimes and I usually don't even take him to the vet, just take care of them myself but this one is really big and he is laying around like he doesn't feel good so I took him in. He's on some antibiotics. He's still not quite back to himself but should be soon I hope. That kept me from going to the gym but hopefully I'll get there tonight, although I am on call today. That means I have to take my pager to the gym which is a pain.
Moonray-congrats on reaching your 3 month goal. I'm wearing an outfit today that I haven't worn in over a year. It would probably look a little better if I was about 5 lbs less but it looks okay. Talk to you later. |
Petra:
I hope Buddy is feeling better! Lisa Wyoming |
Still here
Squeak's (my stray cat) biopsy results are good. Now if she heals from her spay (a little bulging at the incision, but all else seems well) we'll all be okay. Her incision only bulges when I hold her on her back to see it. It doesn't seem red, hot, sore or hurting her and she's eating and potty-ing fine. I may have to call the vet just to ask them about it. But for now, I'll just keep an eye on her.
I'm back on program, I'm done wallowing in self pity, pouting and whining. At least for now. One never knows when the urge will return. I'm on day number two of being back on track. Bought a diet book (South Beach Diet to see what it's about) and a new and cool work out DVD (with self hypnosis bonus CD/DVD). I'll let you know what I think of both. I hope all are well here. |
Hello,
Need to find a home. I just started and posting--I thought some positive support would help this time. I posted on summer starters and no one really responded. So here I am. I started yesterday--I trying a kind of Atkins thing. I walked last night too. Not very far but it's a start. I thought anything is a step in the right direction. My starting weight is 280 and want to loose at least 100. So here goes my first week. |
Welcome
Welcome, welcome, welcome and best of luck to you. The women here were very responsive and motivational for me (I'm sort of new too). I hope you'll find the home you're looking for, here. They're all great! :)

Hello Ladies!! I am feeling really tired all the sudden and can't figure out why but I'm still plugging away. I went to curves this morning. DD started South Beach with me today I just hope she does'nt get any crankier  :dizzy:.
Lisa - Bed at 7:30. I am so jealous!! You must have really needed some sleep. :tired: Petra - Poor Buddy!! :( I hope he is feeling better. Yeah on the outfit. I put on a pair of jeans I had hanging in the closet that I had put up and forgot about and when I put them on this weekend they were to big!!! Hotcup - I am glad Squeak is doing better. I am doing South Beach so if you have any questions I will try to answer them for you and if I can't Petra can. She is the low carb queen :queen: Boggie - Welcome to the group :high:. We are glad to have you here. Just jump right in. The ladies here are the absolute best!!! Where are you from. Give us some background. TTYL |
Welcome boggie, we have a few faithful posters and a few low carbers so I think you will feel right at home.
Buddy seems a little better. He is still laying around a bit much for him but better than yesterday. He's also getting a ton of Benadryl so that might have something to do with it. I got lots of compliments on my outfit today, so I guess it looked fine. I also went to the gym tonight. Pager went off twice while I was there which was annoying but I survived. I did 10 minutes on the elliptical. That machine is tough and some weights. I spent more time on my stretching and even did some of the yoga positions. I'm planning to go to a yoga class tomorrow even though I have to drive to a gym across town. Pager is going off again. Guess that means I better get going. Talk to you guys tomorrow. |
petra: i am having the same problem with my dog .. tho his spot is on his hips ive given him oatmeal baths, sulfadene baths, salt water baths, etc.. ive had him on antibiotics... and he is still scratching..
now ive moved on to feeding him canned fish in the hopes that the fish oil will help... ive heard apple cider vinegar will help.. OK LJ wanted a pic to see how tan i am .. of 10 shots i picked apart 10 ... :( "face looks to fat", body looks to fat, etc etc etc.. to me i dont look any different than when i started losing and i know that cant be possible......... SIGH........ :( I have to say i am really depressed after seein those pics... hi boggie... great to have u join us... i promise im not usually this depressing.......... |
Curly - I know what you mean about the pictures but let me tell you that You have lost and You are doing great. We all know what a beautiful person you are and I am sure your outside matches your inside. Sometimes it is hard for us to see how much we have changed but I bet if you posted a before and after We would see a big difference. ;)
|
Well--I am a mom w/ 2 daughters 12 & 10. I have 3 kids if you count my husband. I retired from my job because of a knee injury--I'm 43. We have a boxer dog who likes to shred anything he can. He is also my walking buddy.
I have had a weight problem all of my life, but never like this. After my first baby, I didn't feel right and I kept telling the doctors I thought something was wrong. Well, 12 years and five doctors later, they figured out what was wrong. I'm insulin resistant with Syndrome X. So now that I know why I can't loose weight, I can understand what's going on and make some adjustments. My starting weight is 280. I started Atkins on Monday. I also started walking around the block. I figure it's a start. I am very active with my girls. We go to the beach & waterslide park a lot. My biggest problem is my sweet tooth. But I think I can overcome that. Giving up carbs is sort of like giving up cigarettes for me. My brother was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago and I can see the road ahead if I don't make some lifestyle changes. So here I am. I really don't even know how I found this website, but I'm glad I did. |
Hey Curly
What have you been doing to loose? I'm picking on you because you were at the same point I am now. Any tips----problems----advise? |
Curly-I assume you've had experience treating hotspots before. If not, the only thing I've found that really works is that you shave all the hair off, you keep the area clean with something like phisohex (they make a veterinary version called novilsan or something like that) and then put neosporin on it and keep them from scratching it further. He's getting some Benadryl right now. Sometimes you need antibiotics for the infection and sometimes even steroids if they don't clear up.
Boggie-good for you choosing low carb to help with your syndrome X diagnosis. If you browse back on our thread I have some summaries of some other low carb diets if you want to do a little comparison shopping. Atkins isn't the only low carb diet out there so if you find you have trouble with it, don't give up, it just might not be the right plan for you. I've read every reputable low carb diet book at this point so I am pretty well versed in this stuff and I'm a doctor. |
Petra: ive also read that gold bond powder helps... but my concern with chai is that he would be licking the powder off..
Boggie: 1. ahh i have the insulin issues also, im on metformin to treat them.. and see an endocrinologist. 2. South beach is great! get rid of the bread, pasta, potatoes, and high sugar foods.. learn as much as u can about which foods are high in sugar. 3. I would recommend getting the south beach book and have a look 4. at first this journey has to completely take over your life until u have brain washed yourself completely... that this is a change for life... learn all u can about nutrition 5. start exercising... slow at first... try walking and even if u dont get very far the 1st day... promise yourself the next day u will go a little bit further.. and do it everyday.. it will help u stay focused (if u feel uncomfortable walking around people.. do it early in the morning or in the evenings) after i had lost @ 25 lbs i went and joined the ladies workout express (a curves clone) i was so afraid at first to go being overweight... and now i go everyday and love it .. and the most important thing>>>> stay in this thread and post everyday .... this is the most wonderful group of people!!!!!!!! they have supported me when i was stalled...and are a great group of friends!!!!! |
MOmX: thank u for the pep talk . ((huggs))
|
Sorry for being a bum
Good Day All!! :dizzy: I AM SO, SO, SO SORRY. I didn't intend on letting anyone down, but I let myself down. You have all been so wonderful to me, and I havent even posted a simple 'hello' in days. Please forgive me????
BOGGIE ~Welcome Aboard~ Today is a new day. I need to get my rear in gear and pick up the pace a little here...I guess you could say I'm doing the 'justify the greasy burger and try to exercise it off twice a day' diet. Ugh...What am i doing. I have been reading the posts to catch up. Work is crazy. It's like Alcatraz. Tons of mandatory overtime...You can get on the island but you never, ever leave  Zoiks! I am the exact same weight. I need to start chugging that water. I grab a half-frozen bottle and stare at it. I know telekinesis is not going to get that water in. Back to posting every day, so help me...It keeps me accountable and encouraged, even if I eat junky sometimes and wake up too late to exercise in the morning (which is not often). I started Pilates today...and hours worth, let me tell ya, I was crunching like a 3-year-old with a bag of Cheerios, no kidding. It was starting to freak me out a little!! Keep going everyone..you are all doing great. I am going to sit down tonight and (1) Clean all the junky munchy foods out of the house, and (2) sit in front of our mirrored wall in the workout room and write down a game plan of what I want and how I am going to get there, sort of a reality check. Need to reclaim what I want for ME and from ME. With the help of all of you, I can do this (right now I have 2 speeds....slow and stop...need to upgrade to the 10-speed mountain bike). LOL. Love you all, talk to you soon. Hugs, L2L |
Hello Partners !
Just a quick fly through to say hello to everyone  I have been keeping very busy with work and the relatives, so unfortunately haven't had time to post. We are heading out of town tomorrow morning for the weekend, so I am hoping to get all caught up on Monday (a holiday here). Hope you all have a great weekend and TTYS. Keep on keeping on.... TLB |
Hi
Just a peek in from home before work. I did a half hearted two mile WATP before work yesterday, but I "Jo-wuffled" (my blend of jogging/walking/shuffling) on the outdoor track AFTER work. Two hours! But I did five miles. I thought I'd die. I'll address you all from work. I've got laundry started (Mt. Laundry!) Hang in there everyone!
|
i am startin to notice that when i am gettin the water in i lose more... and ive been slackin with the water intake........
|
I got myself all wound up about some stuff at work today but am settling down now. I went to power yoga again tonight. This was my third class and I had to drive across town to go to this class. I've had 3 different instructors but I think I like that--everyone does it a little different. I'm going to try to make it a habit to go to two classes a week and at least 2 other workouts a week. I get one free session with a personal trainer and she called today so I scheduled that for next week.
|
Missed my chance
I waited too long to address you all individually. I spent too much time researching the South Beach Diet. I bought the book, but actually found more information on our very own 3FC! But for me, it's not looking like something I could do. It's too complicated and hard and I don't cook (at ALL), so most of the recipes are far too fancy for me. Well, I agreed not to decide until I'd finished reading the book (to give it the full benefit of the doubt). But now if I addressed you all, the topics would be outdated, so let me just do a Java Turtle wave and wish you all well. Enjoy your evenings.
|
ok here we have before & after lol not very good pics but if nothin else u can see how tan i am!
p.s. turtle: heres the simplified south beach: no bread, no noodles, no rice, no potatoes, no starchy vegatables...no sugar lol i hardly ever cook... i have sandwiches on wraps or wheat pitas.. |
Just checking in...I was a bad girl today! I learned an important lesson today.
I left the house withou eating anything this morning because I had to go for a blood test. By the time I got out of the lab, I was not feeling very well and ate all of the wrong stuff because I needed to eat something quick. I now know that I have to have that wicked breakfast routine so I won't be so hungry. And to make matters worse, I didn't walk today. So that was a double bad! So my doctor will get my lab work and call me up to tell me Yeah! you're insulin resistant and you still can't have any metformin. I know there are others out there on metformin---what I have been trying to figure out is if you have to be a full blown diabetic to be prescribed the meds or can you just be insulin resistant. Anyone out there with a comment?????? Have any of you reached a point where you have so many outside things pulling at you and demanding your time that you just want to crawl into a room and slam the door and say leave me alone. I have problems of my own and leave me alone to focus on what's important to me right now. Yeah my father in law called today demanding that I come see him and bring him his new t.v. So we are getting our bathroom remodeled right now and today I had workers doing drywall and tile--so I was just supposed to drop everything and run down there. NOT! When he started yelling at me, I just got right back at him--I have never done that. I guess he got my message because he hung up on me. I am so tired of being the nice person and people trying to walk all over me. As long as I'm starting a whole body make-over I might as well change my attitude a little too! Alrighty, I vented I feel better now. Thursday is a new day----I think I can I think I can......... |
Good Morning DIVAS!!!
Hello All:
~Turtle~ Way to go on your Jo-Wuffling!!! ~Petra~ Im proud of you for your Power Yoga, and for schedling with a trainer. That is AWESOME. ~Curly~Your pictures are beatiful, both of them. The after pix, look at those sparkling eyes. You can see how proud of you are how far you have come shining in those and those cheek bones..You look wonderful, and you are THE ultimate motivator today. ~Boggie~It is important to take time for you. Yes, I have actually gone into a room, slammed the door, ate an entire 1-pound bag of M&Ms, felt sorry for myself for being a fat pig, realized what I did, and bawled my eyes out. There are days that I am so busy and I just want to yell 'get off my back...only 1 person can ride my behind in a day unless I install handrails and seatbelts' but....I am learning to take 3 deep breaths, focus on me and and I need and want to do. Hang in there. One thing at a time. ~EVERYONE~ I am trying to catch up and stay in the groove. Drum Roll Please, Please, Please...I made it to my 270. Dropped the 4 pounds. I think it was TOM water weight. Hallelujah, hallelujah. Chugging that water and doing at least 30 minutes of exercise every single day!! Yeeee--HAAAWWWW!!!! Have a wonderful day all, Hugs & Love, L2L |
Boggie-you don't have to have full blown diabetes to be on metformin. I'm sure curly will give a nice answer to that question but it is up to the discretion of your doctor. It is not a magic bullet however.
Turtle-the recipes in the book are suggestions. You don't have to make them. There are now prepared meals that are South Beach friendly in the supermarket. I'm not on south beach as you know but I eat a lot of hardboiled eggs (something you can do in quantity in advance), bacon in the microwave, smoothies with yogurt, etc. You can make it as simple or complicated as you want. For some people, SB is simply not structured enough so maybe that is the problem you are having. I dread Thursdays more than any other day of the week. I have 9 straight hours of patients. TTYL |
Good Morning!
I have been MIA a few days. We are having Frontier Days and life is just too busy. Yesterday, because of daycare closing early 10:00am, I had to take M to work with me..that was fun..NOT! I am still OP but am wanting snacks more..what is up with that. LOL I have only managed to exercise once this week so far...but I am letting my body reajust some. I am a little worried about the scale but I will be ok. Curly: I am a devoted water drinker and I think that is what keeps me going. Petra: hope you have a great day! 9 hours is a long time.. Boogie: Welcome! this board is the best! Turtle: you are trying SB..good luck with that. L2L: Great job on the 4lbs and always nice to see you post. Get your butt in gear and post more. LOL TEB: Have fun with your company! Everyone else...have a great day. I will try to check in later. M is going to the parade today at daycamp...atleast she is not coming to work with me again...I don't think I could take it. LOL Lisa Wyoming |
Hi All!! I hope everyone is well today.
Lisa - I was craving snacks more as well that's why I started South Beach. I need to get the cravings out of my system. Petra - Sorry about the long day today. Oh well it will be over until next week now. You are doing so well on your exercise. Keep it up!:strong: Lookin - Great news on the 4 pounds :cheer:. AND Awesome job on the exercise. Boggie - I think everyone of use has gotten to that point. My time for myself is when I work out everyday. My dh try's to give me attitude sometimes and asks if I am getting sick of exercising yet? He want's me to lose the weight and be healthy and he is supportive don't get me wrong but sometimes I think he is jealous of the time I spend on myself. I do it anyway. Everyday!! Curly - You are so beautiful! Nice tan to. Thank You for posting the pictures. Hotcup - I am on South Beach and I don't cook either. It is alot less complicated then it looks. If you have any questions you can ask me. My daughter is doing it with me to. She thinks she is huge which she is not. Click on my avatar to see her picture. TTYL |
Hello from work
Momx3: Thanks I may lean on you for a few questions. And you're right, you're daughter is no where near large. But she IS beautiful!
Today may be a bad day for Da Turtle. I'm not feeling well and actually flirted with the idea of calling in sick. But I sucked it up, showered and got myself here. But I didn't do any exercise yet. I may yet, still. We'll see. Hope all are well here. Have a great day/night. |
HI There PIC's
thank u for the compliments... :o How is everyone doing today? Hope u are feeling better miss turtle... Petra: did u see the receipe for the lil omlets i posted b4 u make in the muffins pans? they freeze very well and u can just pop em inthe microwave for @ 1 min from frozen and go or they also keep well in the fridge.. thank goodness it has cooled down a bit today... and i am sooooo looking forward to the weekend! re: the metformin when i started it in march.. it really helped with the carb cravings... and i'm not sure if its the metformin or that u just lose ur taste for carbs after u dont eat them for a while..(now) i dont see it making the lbs fall off... i do feel better becuz my body isnt overworking its self to keep the blood sugar down.. so my energy level is much better... tho that could also be becuz i am exercising everyday... so after all that i'm still not sure about the benefits of metformin......... lol that was a big help eh? |
Venting about work
I've been really upset about some stuff at work for the past few days. We've known for awhile now (and I may have even mentioned this before) that some of the medications we prescribe mostly for schizophrenia increase the risk of developing the metabolic syndrome (insulin resistance, syndrome X, whatever name you want to call it). In July, our department instituted a mandatory screening policy for all patients on these drugs but they didn't provide any guidelines about what to do once you identify patients who have the syndrome. Remember, most of these patients have serious chronic mental illnesses and are not likely to follow up on your recommendations and if you take them off their medication which is causing the problem but also treating their mental illness, bad things will happen like they will start hearing voices or think the FBI is sending messages through their TV set. We have started to get some labs back that are not looking good. So far, I have either had patients who already knew about it or had a family doctor I could send them to for treatment but it is only a matter of time until I have one who either has no family doctor or hasn't seen one in years and won't go to one. I have added concerns because unlike my collegues I'm also an internist and I may have some actual legal liability here that they don't have. I know how to treat diabetes and there is a reasonable expectation that I should be able to do that competently, no one else in the department has that issue. Honestly, I don't think I should be treating diabetes out of the county mental health clinic but I think at some point I am going to have to do it which is a little disturbing. I shouldn't be checking people's feet when I should be asking whether or not they are hearing voices. Somethings gone a little screwy here. Some of the other disorders associated with the metabolic syndrome aren't such a big problem. I already treat some cholesterol and high blood pressure there because it is no big deal and the patients don't see primary care docs but diabetes is another story.

muffin pan omlettes sounds great. It's nice to have something quick in the morning that you can pop in the microwave and be done with it. The less time I spend in the kitchen the better off I am.
Hey! 4 pounds is a great step foward. Keep it up! If you can do that 4 think how easy the next 4 will be. My daughter & I like to watch that celeb fit show where the two teams are trying to lose weight. I have to say I liked the biggest loser better. Shows like that motivate me. I figure if they can do it, so can I. My daughter is starting to bug me about getting a membership to a gym. I told her to start we'll just do some walking & sit ups. There is no way I am going to waddle into a gym to see some tiny girl in a thong working out. Not yet! I know the metformin thing isn't a magic bullet. I don't expect it to be. But what I need is to not be tired all of the time. I need to feel like I have some energy. I can fall asleep at the drop of a hat. I have been doing the low carb stuff for a few days and I'm not feeling any difference in energy levels. I know it usually takes a couple of weeks, I just hope things start kicking in. I know it is hard to say I can only treat these types of problems. I also know it's hard to put blinders on and ignore people's problems. I don't think there is anything wrong with helping someone with their diabetic problems in addition to their mental problems. Can diabetes cause problems with some mental conditions? Isn't it easier to treat someone with mental issues when other medical issues have been addressed. If it's a county facility, couldn't you try for a grant to help with the added costs of the syndrome x & diabetic stuff. I think it would be hard to deal with someone who you refer to another facility and they don't go. Then, would they think you don't care about their problems and not come back. Then, that would mean one more nut on the street without meds. How scary is that? Gee! No job stress in your job huh doc? So what do you do? I think whatever you do, you have to try to keep people on their meds. On a lighter side, I took my girls to the water park today. They have this thing called the lazy river. It has a current and flows in a circle. Well, I walked around in that most of the day. Then, in the wave pool, I worked my legs some more. When I got to the car, my legs were so tired and sore. But it's a good feeling. I know I worked something. Happy Friday!!!! Hope it's a good day for everyone. I just want everyone to know that even if I don't comment on your post, I do read them. I am still learning who is who. |
Boggie-is it possible that you have sleep apnea? That is a common reason why people with insulin resistance are tired all the time. Do you snore? If so, you might want to talk to your doctor about a sleep study.
I agree that there would be nothing wrong with treating both if the clinic was set up that way but it isn't. Diabetes is a complicated medical problem and these patients already have serious mental health problems. I get 15 minutes with them. When am I going to treat their mental illness? That is why they came to the clinic after all. I suppose we will have to see what ends up happening and if there are a lot of patients I have to treat for diabetes the grant idea may be something worth considering. Some of the patients who come there have no medical insurance at all and we just give them samples. In terms of who you get what type of medical care from, think about that for a minute. Would you want your orthopaedic surgeon giving you a pelvic exam? Would you want your OB/gyn giving you chemotherapy? Of course not! I'm working in the mental health clinic to provide psychiatric care, I"m not there to be a primary care doc even if technically I'm trained and certified to be both. I would also argue that a lot of people should not be getting psychiatric care from their primary care docs either. |
G'morning PIC Chicks
Happy Friday. I'm still having some health and "mood" issues. But I'm still OP (barely). I squeaked through with the bare minimum, but point is, I still made it. I almost called off sick yesterday, but I sucked it up and went in anyway (hey, it's airconditioned there!) I even packed a gym bag. But come eleven-thirty, I could NOT force myself to the track. I knew this meant I had to do twenty minutes of exercise once I got home, so I set my Flylady timer and did twenty minutes of WATP moves. Like I said, it was the bare minimum that my goals would allow, but I made it.
Boggie: My BF has sleep apnea and now that he has his C-Pap machine, he has MUCH more energy. Before he'd fall asleep while I was talking to him, while watching TV, while DRIVING! Any time he sat still, he was OUT. But now he's like a normal Pooh Bear. You really might want to check into that. Petra: I hope things work out at work and you start to feel better about it. Curly: Lookin' good! Mom: If I have questions about SBD for you, should I email or PM them here? Lookin: :bravo: You go gurrrl. Anyone else I missed, I truly apologize. I'll check back in from work. Toodles! |
Good Friday Ladies :coffee:. So this is supposed to be my last day on Phase 1 of South Beach so I weighed myself this morning and in the 2 weeks I have been on it I lost 6.8 pounds. The book says you will lose 8-12 pounds in the first 2 weeks but I have been eating healthy for awhile so my lose is not as much. I am very happy with my results. I plan to stay on phase 1 a little bit longer so that I can support my daughter through her first 2 weeks and then we can move onto phase 2 together.
Hotcup - 20 minutes of exercise is better than 20 minutes on the couch. Give yourself a pat on the back. Someday's you just can't do it. Monday I was so tired that I just told myself take the day off. I was feeling so guilty but then said to myself "Hey sometimes you just need a break and it's not going to kill you or slow down your progress". Keep up the good work :smug:. Thanks for the compliment on my daughter. I wish that she saw herself the way others do. She has the most beautiful skin. Everyone tells her how pretty she is and she just does'nt believe them. It makes me very sad :( . She thinks she is huge because she has curves instead of being built like a boy as alot of young girls are today. Petra - I am sorry about your job. It sounds like alot of stress that you don't need. What happened with the other job you were talking about? I don't want you to drive yourself crazy :dizzy: unless there is a doctor where you work that you would trust to treat you . Boggie - The water park sounds like alot of fun, a good way to cool down and a great way to get in a good workout. :wl: Curly - Do you get to see your man this weekend? I hope everyone has a great day!!! |

Hi everyone. I'm in a much better mood now. :) I only lost half a pound this week so I don't get to change my signature but that's okay.
I actually went so far as to talk to one of the hospitals lawyers today but he was the only person who said anything that made sense to me so I'm glad I did. I already knew him from another situation (no, I haven't been sued). He told me that unless I could really treat patients up to the standard of medical care for their diabetes (monitor blood pressure, cholesterol, hemoglobin A1c, yearly eye exams, yearly renal function, etc, etc) than I shouldn't do anything. It is far worse to do an inadequate job than to do nothing when I am not obligated to anything even if my heart is in the right place. He said that instead I should work on the beauracracy to make sure that the patients can get care in the medical clinic even if they have no insurance so I sent an email to the director of the medical clinic who I am friends with. Hopefully that will get something accomplished. I did get a letter from the other practice but it was very vague. I'll have to call and set up a meeting to discuss specifics so I can compare what they have to offer to what I have now. I had a light day today. I did some real cooking. I made noodless lasagna. It is pretty good-only 6 carbs per serving. I also made buttermilk bran muffins. I altered the recipe and used oat flour instead of protein powder. They turned out pretty good. They taste like bran muffins and the consistency is pretty good with the oat flour. Actually Mom, I have quite a few low carb baking recipes when you are ready. I have a whole low carb baking cookbook in fact. Have you tried my nuts yet? Congrats on your 7 lbs. That's what I lost on my first 2 weeks of SB too. Funny how when we started I was the only low carber and now we are turning into a bunch of low carbers. :) We're having some interesting discussions on the Protein Power board. One thread on stress, hormones and obesity, another on L-carnitine, and every month they have some kind of challenge. For July it was a journaling challenge. In August we have an exercise challenge and I have committed to 4 days a week. I'm actually the whimp of the group. Most people have committed to 5 days but for someone who used to not exercise I figure 4 days is a good start. I guess I'm starting to ramble so I should get going. |
Hi Guys!
Well first let me start off with the info i found in a "womans World" magazine... if you recall Petra told us about the L-carnitine... well in the Magazine this month there was an article about a lady who lost 40 lbs in 5 months using these mints called "Slim mints" ... yep u guessed it they have L-carnitine in them.. and if you go to their web site they will send u a free sample of the mints http://www.slimmints.com they have splenda not sugar in them..(u can buy them at Walmart) ok here we go... Hey Miss Turtle: hope u are feeling better today... and bravo.. thats awesome that even tho u felt crappy u were determined to get your minimum exercise in... i find that even when i am worn it it always makes me feel better if i just go ahead and do it!! MomX: wooo hooo u go lady!!! congrats on the weight loss, LJ is comming to DC next week so i am gonna meet him and we are going out to dinner... (crossing fingers no work emergencies pop up) Petra: maybe the medical clinic u spoke of could find an Endocrinologist to volunteer a few hours for those patients.. or the state would pick up the tab for them to see one. Amazing that it was actually a nurse practicioner for a neurologist (migraines) that discovered my insulin issue... she sent me for a blood work panel while i was taking topamax for migraine prevention that included a hemoglobin A1c ... and said its a bit elevated u should think about seeing an endocrinologist You are doing fantastic with your exercise! Boggie: Many drs. are prescribing Metformin for overweight people who tend to carry weight in their mid section becuz the theory is that all overweight persons have insulin issues caused by the extra weight! If u arent happy with your dr... or he wont even listen to u about the metformin .. u didnt mention it bu is this dr an endocrinologist? if not u may want to go see one lookin to lose: sounds like u are doing a great job.. 4 lbs thats awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRR this post was interupted by a very bad dog who has just stolen a BRAND NEW PAIR of my jeans that dont even fit yet and chewed a hole in the side of them! Lisa: sounds like u are having a good time with the frontier days!!!! the more snacks u have the more u want... i think its an all or nothing situation... or only have healthy snacks! hey try the slim mints theyare supposed to cut ur cravings ok where's all of our other PIC"S come out and play!!!!! |
I tried those
The Slim Mints, that is. When I first joined TOPS, I was nervous about meeting new people (I'm shy) ;) and I wanted fresh breath. They taste good, kind of minty-vanilla-y. I didn't imagine they'd help me lose weight, but I tried them for the novelty of it. But you know.... :^: come to think of it, I sure lost more weight back when I first started TOPS. Hmmmm  Well, they were cheap and they tasted good. Perhaps I need to buy some more. :^:
I'm still feeling down, but I'm still OP. I plan on going to the track tonight, but there's a massive biker ralley in my town right now. :bike: :moped: :scooter: I'm more than a little worried for all my officers and old friends that are officers (troopers). Not that all bikers are bad (don't get me wrong)... but with THIS many peope in our town (bikers or not) there's bound to be some trouble. So I'll be extra careful on the track and I'll be sure to have my police radio. I sure hope I can MAKE myself go tonight. |
