  • Holly – Wow it takes a lot of guts to pour your heart out like that. I think guys have a really hard time understanding our emotions. They are taught to push everything down inside and never show emotion. I almost had a break down after my twins. I think I had post partum depression looking back but they didn’t know what it was back then. Got on some anti depression for several months and was fine after wards. I think we automatically think it’s my fault I am not strong enough to handle this on my own. We’ll I say BS. Sometimes are bodies just get out of whack. Drugs for depression can be very helpful and we need to quite being afraid of it. I was just screaming mad when Tom Cruise was bashing Brook Shields for going on anti depression. She really needed them she wanted to kill herself and her child. She was traumatized like you can’t believe with the birth of her child. I commend her for going public and letting women know there is help for all of us who might be going through something like that. Don’t let someone make you feel less than a person. You are a strong women, after all you ride a motorcycle that takes guts girl! Don’t let anyone tell you that you are less of a person because your getting help. I say cheers a bravo for you!
  • Holly, honey...my heart goes out to you. I think you are very courageous..I agree with the others that maybe DH just doesn't get it. It's really too bad that he won't seek counseling with you. I hope the Lexapro helps! I'm not generally a fan of medications either - but there is a limit to what you can do by yourself. You are doing everything right and still feeling depressed. That would seem to point to something chemical IMO.

Hi everyone else! I'll prolly be AWOL tomorrow - annoying business trip.
  • Good Evening girls!

I am late on the 'puter (as some of my students would say!). Today and tomorrow we are out of the classroom, but they are professional days, so that means meetings.

Holly- I am really proud of your for seeking out help. I think that does take a stronger person to realize that they are in emotional trouble. And the fact that you are active, healthy, interested goes to prove that it isnt your fault. It could be situational or chemical. Most of the women in my family are on anti depressants largely due to what is believed just a chemical imbalalance. They are finally leading happier lives. I agree with Star that maybe your husband thinks that it will all be his fault or that he is just scared about what he doesn't understand. I really hope that the Lexapro helps you and if it doesnt do be afraid to try another medication. I know that pills arent always the cure, but they certainly can help. Its too bad that your husband is still so resistant on counseling... Anyhow, BIG BIG hugs to you and I am really proud of you for taking care of your feelings and emotions and helping yourself!

Harley- Congrats on the weight loss girl!!! You are smokin'!!!!

    Star- Hey girlfriend!

2Fr- Hope you had a great weekend.

Gina- Have a safe business trip!

Dh and I had a great weekend. We just hung out with family and friends and relaxed...it was great. He started back to work today! YIPPPEEE!!!! He's already on overtime and has to be at work tomorrow morning at 5am. So, that means he'll have to get up at 3:30am. I think that I'll try to be up that early to and get my workout out of the way.

Hugs to all of you!!! See ya tomorrow!

    Hi Chicks....How is everyone?

Andrea - you sound in good spirits - only way to go thru life chickie!

Hi - Holly, Gina, Harley and 2Fu....Hugs.

It's really cold here in Michigan. Glad I got my winter clothes out early this year.....I'm usually about a month late with that......

My DDIL found out yesterday that she is gonna have a baby GIRL. Her and my DS are parents to GBDave. So now they will have one of each sex - we are all so happy it worked out that way. I guess now we have to wait til March 23rd to be 100% certain, since the tech said she was 95% sure.

Let's see that means I will have 1 GBBoy and 4 GBGirls (oh and one still undetermined, we will find that one out in about 3 weeks).....Cross your fingers for another boy so GBDave will have a male cousin to hang with and pick on the girls.........

Anyhow, today for lunch I'm going over to DS's, he's home from work with GBKaycee so I'm gonna run by and see them.

Hope you all are doing well on your plans. As for me since my physical I have been 'on hold' My surgery is scheduled for Monday and I won't be able to work out for maybe 3-6 weeks. Hopefully I won't be hungry laying around recovering and won't eat. Actually that happened to me before when I had my hystorectomy.......I will be more than happy to get 100% back on my eating and execise plans......I'm feeling like a slacker.....

    Talk to you chicks later.......Hugs....
  • hi friends - thank you SO much for your support!
  • Holly - You very easy to support - your the best!
  • Hello laydees! Holly, you rock just keep telling yourself that, you'll be ok! Rebel, sounds like things are turning out ok for you. Star, woooooo! New GBs! Hello Gina & Harleymom!

I'm officially off plan for about half the week! Got future in-laws and parents down they're meeting tonight in a big old food fest!

Went shopping in Ikea for 5 hours yesterday. not impressed! But got lovely mattress! My back is no longer yelling at me!

Missed kickboxing last night because Ikea shopping took so long, but I got to lift lots of boxes and make furniture! So that still counts...

Right I might be back later - lots of stuff at work today (well 2 appointments...) :
  • Hey there ladies!

Holly- You are always in my thoughts!

Star- Lucky you!! All those grandbabies. Congratulations on the new baby girl. Have they decided her name yet? How long will you be off work after the surgery?

2fru- Have fun with the future in-laws and your parents!

    Gina and Harley- Hey girls!!!

I decided that since we finally have insurance again I am going to have to take better advantage of it this time. I need to get my teeth cleaned, eye exam, new contacts, schedule my yearly woman exam, and dh has some wart looking thing that needs to be removed. Plus dh will have to do a cholesterol check, cardiologist appointments, and possibly cardiac rehab. They're going to get sick of seeing us. Since I'm heavy I do need to talk to my Dr about having my cholesterol looked at too and maybe even a EKG done. I don't know.

I'm doing fairly well on plan. The last 2 days since I had meetings I wasn't too prepared with breakfast or lunch and just kinda snacked too much, but I didn't do too awfully bad.

I decided that I am setting way too high of goals on myself. I am going to aim at trying to lose 5 pounds a month. That is very doable. If I lose more than that great, if not that's ok too. So, I am going to change my tickers. I obviously did not meet my Halloween goal... I just managed to maintain, but that's better than gaining and I'm surprised that I didn't considering what a stressful month its been! If I could lose 5 pounds a month then I will have lost 60 pounds in a year and that would put me at 185 by next Halloween! It would be so great to be in the 1 hundreds again!

Have a great day biker babes!
  • Hi Andrea -
DDIL like the name Taylor, but nothing is sure yet. She is due March 23rd, I'm trying to push "Star" on them.....lol They don't like that for name, my gf back in Phoenix was named Starlynn and went by Star...I always loved it.
About your goals. I think you are right on about making them smaller, that makes them doable.....that makes the celebrations more often.....lol
We are not robots we are human, we should not kill ourselves to lose this weight at warp speed, we have to take time to adjust, time to enjoy life.....
about taking advantage of your new insurance. I made that same decision afew years back, after getting layed off and losing my insurance. Now when I have really good insurance I take full advantage of it, get all the check ups, and if something needs taking care of, I schedule it becuz who knows if I'll have it in 6 months. Timing is everything......By the way, most of that stuff your talking about doing would be covered under a regual physical......
Hi to all.....jazzercise tonight for the last time til after my recovery........
  • Star - woo hoo! Taylor is a cute name...

Andrea - yay things are looking up, finally! Nothing wrong with small goals - especially if it gets you closer to the big goal.

2Frust - they are building an IKEA right across the street from where I work...it's a great big blue and yellow box at the moment....building beds is prolly good excercise.

What an exciting business trip I had...kind of like watching paint dry but without the fumes as a bonus...(at least you feel happy after sniffing paint all day)

    Holly and Harleymom - hugs!!

I'm off to the gym...I've been playing catchup all day now I'm ready to blow off some steam.
  • Good morning ladies!

Dh was off and running again at 3:30, but I did sleep in until 5am, so now I am just having a quick cup of coffee before I get a workout in. It's funny, but our new schedules are really throwing off my babies (pets), I guess everyone has to adjust! LOL.

Star- Taylor is a cute name, but I'm like you, I think Star is an awesome name! I worked with a lady named Starla, but she never went by just Star. I like different or unusual names though. If I had a daughter, I'd name her Scarlett. Dh says no way along with the rest of my family. The only name we can agree on is Madison. A little too common for me, but its cute and I like it.

2frus and Gina- I have never heard of IKEA. They make beds?

    Hey Harley and Holly!

    I'll Check in later girls...
  • Ikea is a swedish furniture store. Very cheap and trendy furniture! Was a NIGHTMARE since it's half term holiday and everybody descended on the place with their screaming kids!

Bikey fell over AGAIN last night! I parked on a slight slope.... Whupps! The clutch lever is banana'd and the gear lever is only slightly bent! Still rideable and no real dings or anything, so lucky again! Oh and I could pick it up again! Still strong!
  • Star Congrats on your GB! You have a few now. Good for you!

Reb-Sounds like you staying on track and starting to have a routine with DH it takes a little so hold on but things will get to where they work. Even your pets will adjust.

2frust- When I was out visiting my sis in Phoenix they had just opened an Ikea. My sis got a book shelve from there. It looked like the biggest furniture store I'd ever seen. She said you couldn't even see everything in one trip it was so big. The parking lot alone looked like it was 5 miles. She said the same thing about the opening a bunch of crazy's out when it first opened. I leave the store when my kids act up so I am not allowing them to make everyone else crazy. Of course now I just have to give them the look and they get the teenage attitude going but straighten up. I say Disney World is the craziest place it is like the parents say I just spent 5 grand on this vacation and you will enjoy it or else and you just see kids kicking and screaming on the streets everywhere.

Glad your back hat chick. Sorry the trip was a bust.

    Holly hope your doing great.

Did any of you watch the biggest looser this week? I watched it last night on DVR.
  • 2FU - I love your honesty - your gonna beat that bike yet - you hang in there and show her who's boss.....Never give up..... We don't have Ikea here either that I know of....

Gina - Welcome back from business trip, with or without much success. Now you can get back to the gym and the really important stuff in your life...lol

Andrea - What kind of babies do you have? I know they are spoiled huh?
I like the name Madison too, I love the name Gia, but we aren't Italian....

Harley - yes by Spring we will have SIX GB's. I keep repeating that becuz I can't really believe it's true....hum how did that happen???
I am addicted to The Biggest Loser.....I LOVE it and can't wait for each new episode. Right now I am wanting either Dr. Jeff or Suzy to win. BUT let me say that I fell in love with Pete (another Michigander) he was so sweet and such a wonderful husband to his lucky wife, didn't you think? AND he looks downright HOT right now, doesn't even look like the same person.......GO-Pete-Go-Pete.....
I also have inside info that GINA is a big TBL fan too......

Holly - How are you, have you been able to get back on your baby yet? It's time for us to take our bikes up north for the winter......boo-boo....

Okay chicks...gotta go to lunch....go by my mom's. I want to show her the pants I bought for half price at Fashion Bug Sunday night at the half off storewide sale. They are so nice, no pockets, no pleats, no belt loops, boot cut. I call that kind "skinny pants"......They are awesome.....plus I think I look taller in them.....I bought dark grey and brown - that was the only colors is this style.

    I'll check back later chickies.....hugs.....
  • Big time TBL fan....right now I'm routing for Dr Jeff or Andrea...(she reminds me of me).

Star how do you live without pockets? I never know where to put my hands...for some reason the Al Bundy thing of sticking my hand down the front doesn't seem very professional...

2Fru...don't hit me...training wheels? Just kidding!!!!! At least you can pick it up! And you aren't riding when it falls over....

Andrea - I hear ya - I was too lazy to drive to the gym last night so I pulled out an old Richard Simmons tape...the poor Dobie was completely confused by all the activity...for the first 20 minutes he thought I was playing with him. He finally got tired - thank goodness. It's a learning process for all household members...

Harleymom - sounds like your kids are well trained...I must admit I don't have a lot of patience for annoying kids in public. (Maybe that's why I stick to pets) I know exactly what you are talking about with Disneyland..it's like fun overload - but the parents are like "you're gonna have fun whether you like it or not"

    Hi Holly!
